Freehand Miami

We began our US adventure in Miami Beach, mainly because that was my first stop when first travelled here in 1987. Of course it's completely different, including hotels, & I'm a different traveller now. Lots of research, price vs location vs reviews; I came up with the Freehand Miami at Mid Beach. It comes across as a pretty chill place, part backpacker part full hotel. We opted for a Deluxe King Room. The first big bonus here is access from the airport, a taxi will cost you $40-50, the M150 bus takes you straight from MIA to half a block from the hotel for $2.25! & in only 30 minutes. The hotel is very green, a tree lined central atrium with a nice pool. Lots of cool murals adorn the walls. Staff were lovely & very kindly gave us early check-in at 12 instead of 3pm at no charge. I mailed them in advance asking for a quiet room as we'd traveled 38 hours to get here, they kindly complied. The only issue was they requested a $95 resort fee. I understand about these & know to pay them in other hotels on this trip; but my Agoda booking states includes all taxes & fees. No point arguing with the receptionist about it, just doing her job, so I paid & took the matter up with Agoda, who eventually agreed to refund me. The room is excellent, exactly as described, spotlessly clean & serviced every day. The bed is super comfortable. Good wifi. There is a big fridge but no kettle/coffee maker, which would have been useful. The only minus point is the a/c is very noisy, but you get used to it. Also big screen TV with countless channels of mostly nothing 🤔 Location is great, 1 block to supermarket & restaurants, one more block to the Beach I would absolutely recommend Freehand Miami, nice people, clean rooms, great location, & excellent value. We paid $252 for 3 nights, booked well in advance 😍👏🥵

Fuimos por el mundial y el hotel estuvo bastante bien para lo que queríamos hacer. El lugar esta limpio y bonito, situado muy cerca de la playa: en los alrededores hay muchas opciones para comer,etc. La habitación estaba muy limpia y siempre tuvimos aire dado el calor de Miami - el personal muy lindo en todo momento La alberca y el bar son super disfrutables.

la ubicacion, la relacion preci-calidad en la temporada alta que fui estuvo muy bien. Se puede caminar facilmente a varios lugares. El lugar, el aire acondicionado, el wifi todo muy bueno! El hostel organiza eventos muy buena onda!

lo unico que era un poco incomodo es que no habia suficientes ganchos para colgar toallas para secar. Eramos 4 personas y pocos ganchos!

Las habitaciones eran bastante grandes y limpias. La pileta estaba limpia, y con un excelente ambiente para disfrutar. Tienen a disposición toallas, tanto para ducharse como para playa, sombrillas y reposeras.

Hubo una ligera demora para realizar el check in para ingresar a la habitación. Estaría bueno que cuenten con un lugar para sentarse a comer sin la obligación de pagar el consumo en el bar.

Лучший хостел в Майами, прекрасная территория с бассейном. Очень профессиональные сотрудники помогали всегда и во всём! Номера чистые и очень стильные, продуманные до мелочей. Это создаёт комфорт во всём. Я была счастлива в этом месте каждый день и очень рекомендую его всем посетителям Майами ❤️

Restaurant Food was terrible, and service was bad. Perhaps it’s a World Cup situation but there were parties all night so don’t expect to be able to sleep

Just wow! This place is a vibe!!! It kind of looks like a hostel but the rooms were 5 star- very clean and comfortable with a nice sized fridge. But the real draw is the party. There are 2 bars and a restaurant. The bars have crazy amazing cocktails and all the food we had was great! The staff were incredible! They gave us great recommendations around town and made the experience! There’s a great courtyard where they had a DJ with fans and misters. The World Cup watch parties were incredible!!!! If you want a silent hotel- this is not for you. But if you want an experience where your soul is sad to leave, this is your spot! We are already planning to come back with a group…Thank you all so much!!!

La ubicación es lo que más se puede rescatar.

Podrían agregar desayuno, también es muy oscuro el hostal en general, faltan más servicios como cocina o mínimo un microondas o frigobar. ADEMÁS, lo más importante es que te cobran una garantía al llegar de 50 dólares que supuestamente devuelven 5 días después de irse y aún no ha sido devuelta, algo que tampoco se informa al rentar por la aplicación.

Attention, when booking this accommodation: Unfortunately, they faced serious issues with their power supply. When stepping into the elevator the lights went off. When you tried to take a shower it was suddenly dark. But the worst thing was the AC! It went on and off every two minutes. When it was working it was extremely loud. We didn’t get any sleep at all. Can’t recommend.

La ubicación es muy buena, las instalaciones muy agradables, el concepto es muy bueno para quienes viajan en modo compartir, disfrutar con muchas mas personas que se alojan allí, me gusto mucho los ambientes de cada zona.

Really cool accommodation, love that a hostel has a pool very unique. Location was good near the beach and a tram stop to get more central of Miami beach!

Reception staff completely useless. This is a shame because the hostel is decent with a really nice pool area. But trying to get the reception staff accommodate you with anything just ruins it. They don’t even acknowledge you, can’t get you away quick enough. Don’t even think about asking them a question about the hostel, you just get treated like a nuisance with bad manners and a look of distain.

Nothing. We couldn't even stay. Got denied access by reception because my name & my guests name were on the reservation, but for whatever reason she couldn't see it & wouldn't accept seeing on my app.

ubicacion perfecta, no esta en el centro pero no esta alejado. la limpieza es esmerada, la gerenta muy profesional, otros empleados correctos con lo justo y otras empleadas la peor atencion q encontraras en toda la Florida.

Las empleadas tanto de recepcion como del bar dejan mucho q desear. Los pasillos parecen de una casa abandonada contrastando con las hermosas habitaciones, muy luminosas y con muy buena vista. ¿?. nada mas. el resto para mi es perfecto. o era, ya q cuando me fui parece q iban a hacer muchos cambios.

La ubicación es muy buena, no está en el centro de Southbeach (al que se puede ir caminando), pero está en una punta, una zona mucho más tranquila, con un sistema de buses que te lleva a todos lados de Miami (incluido el aeropuerto) todo con un boleto de bus! El patio y la pileta están muy lindos, tiene dos bares, las fiestas que hacen son muy lindas! Te prestan sillas, sombrillas y toallas para ir al mar! Los recepcionistas te explican cualquier duda de donde quieres ir, son muy amables! Puede dejar el equipaje si llegas antes de hora y a la salida si tu vuelo es después del check out!

La propiedad tiene sus buenos años, pero en general está bien mantenida. Los cuartos tienen camas cómodas, los lockers están en un espacio separado del de las camas, en un cambiador dentro del cuarto! La ventana no se abren, son de vidrio fijo, pero el cuarto tiene el aire acondicionado prendido todo el día!

Super cute, awesome pool and the best mocktail I had in a long time (broken shaker bar)! The staff was really friendly and helpful as well & location 10/10 - 5 mins walking distance to the beach and great restaurants near by. Also free bikes to rent for the day!

Two things I didn’t like so much: the room was not very clean as I got there (hair and dirt on the floor) and as the days went by I got a feeling that the floors hadn’t been cleaned a single time. Also the towels and sheets had weird stains that definitely looked like blood. We had towels exchanged multiple times. The second thing: it seems like anybody can just walk into the hotel as they please, guest or not. We noticed a couple sketchy men that just seemed to hang out there to talk to woman that were by themselves. Not very comforting.

The property is in a great location - close to everything, yet removed from the chaos. Conveniently located in close proximity to a grocery store and a Starbucks. An authentic Miami experience.

The property needs an upgrade. The throw pillows on the bed need to be replaced - the smell of mold and dirt. They feel dirty to touch as well. The carpet in the hallways of the hotel smells damp, and of mold/wet dog. Also, the front desk staff was a bit confused - it seemed like our submitted changes and requests made at the front desk weren’t always cemented as we were led to believe.

It was a hostel with drug addicts around the pool. My first room was infested with cochroaches and my second room had a flood them we moved to a 3rd room and had mold on the walls!

The location is OK, very close to main attraction points.

The room was dirty, bathroom was old and it requires maintenance. Feels like it is an old place not like a hotel. It feels like not in the US but in an old European city.

I last stayed in December 2021. Some much needed renovations were made at 2727 Indian Creek Drive.The dorm rooms were upgradeed with more secure lockers. The hallway carpets were also replaced.

There was no place for food preparation or storage. There was no breakfast available. Music in the lobby was excessively loud. Vending machine was very expensive. Washer and Dryer were outside behind the pool area. It would be better if they were indoors in case of rain.

This was my 3rd stay here, also two at thier sister property Generator. The rooms have a good amount of space so does not feel crowded. I was in a 8 person room. 4 bunks along the short wall and 4 along a longer one. There was also a sofa and oversize chairs. Two bathrooms. The lobby was comfortable with a variety of places to sit. The location is perfect. A short walk( 2 minutes) to Collins Ave. Subway and Starbucks right there on Collins. A small grocery store , bakery and café also right there. The airport /Miami Beach express bus stops just 50 feet from the hostel. The bus is less than $3 from the airport and has luggage racks. The bus stop is also a stop for two of the Miami Beach trolleys. The trolley is free and the different routes cover most of Miami Beach.

A minor inconvenience. My room was near the pool and on my first night there was a private party that padded till 2am. The other night nothing.

The hostel itself is organized and the bed is comfortable. For the price they charge, it’s good.

For someone like me who likes going to bed early to enjoy the day in the morning and doesn’t like noise, this hostel was very loud at night. It’s close to a main road, so there’s a lot of traffic noise, and the music keeps playing until late. It’s also far from Ocean Drive, which personally wasn’t ideal for me.

The room was amazing and we also enjoyed the pool very much.

this is absolutely a gem. the staff is more than accommodating you are right on the beach there is a Starbucks subway & conveince store across the street. And a absolutely fabulous pool. May i add rays bar has increabiable wings.

La limpieza de la habitación y el mantenimientos en general dejaba bastante que desear. Además el grifo del lavado olía fatal, era imposible lavarse las manos, cara, dientes porque el olor era realmente repulsivo…
