A good dinner, excellent service, and a good breakfast - with a fine choice. Our second stay at the Townhouse. Large, comfortable room, nice bathroom. Excellent location in town centre, walk to other bars, restaurants and shops.

Extremely well run accommodation with stylish and spacious rooms. Everything is neat and tidy so no petty difficulties. Just a thoroughly comfortable stay.

The pillows on the bed. Rock hard . Walking into the hotel the smell of fish was very strong . Kippers and haddock on breakfast menu overpower as you walk In and this was at 3 in the afternoon

The staff and manager were all great, it was proper good service with a smile. The Scottish breakfast was amazing, the atmosphere was relaxing, but buzzy, and beds were comfortable. What more do you need!?!

This property blew us away! We were only there for two nights, but wished it was for a week as the lodge was so beautiful. The owner was exceptionally caring and we arrived to find everything beautifully prepared, with a selection of homemade cakes waiting for us on the dining table. Our stay was perfect in every way.

It would have been ideal had we been able to establish an internet connection on the Smart TV in order to access Netflix, but there were plenty of channels to choose from, so nothing to complain about!

Always a lovely stay right in the centre of Melrose. Room seemed newly decorated with brand new carpet, shower very powerful. Staff always very attentive and pleasant. Food was exceptional

Hotel is in the middle of Melrose. Free parking right in front of the hotel. Very nice rooms. Our dinner and the breakfast was amazing. Great tips about hiking and what to see in town.

We liked everything and would like to come back someday.

Lovely welcome upon arrival, really good sized room overlooking the high street. Evening meal was very good, served in a pleasant dining room. Good breakfast the next morning.

We arrived in the lively and lovely town of Melrose to start the long distance walk to Lindisfarne known as St Cuthbert’s Way. We were delighted to find The Townhouse Hotel conveniently situated on the market square. The welcome was efficient and friendly and our room was spacious and comfortable with a huge bed, generous sitting area and every amenity we needed was available. The service was faultless both in the bar and at breakfast where there was a wide selection of tempting dishes. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at this establishment

There was a problem with continual water running in the lav and therefore a noise (but the manager did say they’d get a plumber. The shower (though warm) reminded me of something from a caravan. There was a an extra chair in the room in the way of the bathroom basically. I had to move it but kept tripping over it. The breakfast was pretty average and coffee bad. I think strongly the hotel was not worth the enormous price paid

Excellent welcome and service - I was driving home during a heat wave. I decided to stop over at the Townhouse. I received a lovely welcome, offered a drink , my bag was carried upstairs ( I was very grateful) and shown to a room in the shade. The room was clean and very comfortable. I looked around Melrose for somewhere to eat but decided to return to the Townhouse. Service and the food was excellent! I slept soundly. Breakfast - again polite excellent service with good food.

The room was spacious and the food was excellent. Great bath was a bonus!

Brilliant stay, great welcome, lovely beer garden, fabulous room, delicious breakfast with great service and easy vegetarian swap in hot food items if required. Beautiful village setting and would definitely highly recommend!

Double room was ok but could have done with a bit more room. Beautifully decorated and very comfy bed though. Sadly lunch & dinner not available on the days we stayed (Tue / Wed) … however, substantial breakfast kept us going!!

Breakfast was delicious .Lots of choice, good ingredients well cooked and presented. The room was large well decorated, comfortable furniture and huge bed.

Very good breakfast with a good amount of choice for cooked options. Personally I would have liked a few more cold options, bircher muesli, more fruit etc.

My room overlooking High Street so the street lights did help keep me awake in the night, will request room further back next time. Coffee brand I think needs reviewing ok but not brilliant.

Such a pleasant hotel, right in the middle of Melrose. Warm and welcoming on a grey and wet mid January day, we only stayed one night but slept really well and enjoyed the huge choice at breakfast. The room and bathroom were big, and our initial brief disappointment turned to joy when we opened the cupboard and found the kettle and loads of tea/coffee choices, and a small fan heater. It was all very clean. We didn't stay for dinner but judging by the quality of the breakfast (poached fish included) you would do well in the evening too.

A lovely well kept hotel very clean and with helpful staff...would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay.

Dinner and breakfast superb. Comfortable room and surroundings. Friendly, helpful staff. Perfect. The high street location is excellent and it's a shame I didn't browse the numerous shops and amenities in Melrose during the daytime.

The electric shower was a bit difficult to regulate the temperature and could have been a bit more powerful after a long day outdoors in the rain.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Townhouse. It’s in a good location in the centre of Melrose, close to the abbey, shops, pubs and restaurants. Melrose is a lovely little town to walk around. We were able to park in the sister hotel’s car park across the road which was helpful. Only standard rooms were available when we booked, which was a shame as it was a little cramped and the bathroom dated. We ate in the brasserie which had some tasty food at a reasonable price. The wine list seemed very expensive by comparison with standard wines starting at £30 and decent wines mid £40s. Staff were all very friendly and breakfast was tasty. A good choice to stop off at or to stay for a few nights if visiting the area.

All the staff were friendly and welcoming, giving this small hotel a wonderful atmosphere. We booked superior rooms which were huge, well appointed and clean. The zip-n-link bed was perfect for a great night’s sleep. There was a fan in the cupboard if needed. The Scottish breakfast was included and excellent. The location on the lovely market square was ideal for walking out to Melrose Abbey and a great choice of restaurants, pubs, shops and a fine wine bar. We were able to park directly in front of the hotel.
