The staff were lovely & breakfast was enormous
Finding tablets in bathroom
Room and bed were very comfortable. Very clean. Good location at town centre. Breakfast and dinner were both good. Helpful and attentive staff
The dinner menu advertised outside was missing one or two items on the dishes that were actually available.
Comfy bed. Good shower. Fantastic full Scottish breakfast.
Nothing
Lovely location, in the village, staff were friendly and always around - room was clean and well appointed - for a small village hotel it was lovely - nice bar and drinks garden round the back - we had one of the best steaks l have had in a while! very good restaurant - well worth the booking but not cheap. overall really enjoyed our stay and would go back
If you have a room at the back - expect 6am wake up from the staff and the trucks ....wasnt too bad but the noise started early - we were last minute booking so wasn't expecting the best choice of rooms
All
Stayed at the start of the St Cuthbert's Way and then returned to collect my car. Two different rooms; both clean and comfortable. Food excellent; especially loved the plaice.

Rooms looks nice
Many things. Soap dispenser is broken, sink was clogged. Many items ran out in the menu so we didn’t eat diner there. Breakfast was slow n no one fill up or replace the empty items like yogurt, pastries etc Restaurants staff looks tired n very moody.
Great location in centre of town, plenty of parking. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Good breakfast. Pleasant, well trained staff.

Temps du service du breakfast.
Fabulous location in the heart of town
Excellent rooms and a very good restaurant, friendly staff and in the centre of Melrose
Everything was good, no complaints at all
The staff are very welcoming. The room was comfortable. The hospitality tray very much appreciated. The location in centre of Melrose is ideal for strolling around and visiting Abbey and Prior wood Gardens.
I struggled with opening shower door.
A warm welcome. My room was comfy and suited a short stay. The breakfast and the team serving were amazing.
The evening meal options sounded delicious but I ate out opting for something cheaper and more informal
Breakfast and dinner were excellent, catered well for dietary requirements. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable.
Burts didn’t disappoint. Lovely clean well appointed room(single), nice staff great sleep and delicious dinner and breakfast.
No tea/coffee making facilities in my single room.
It shows that Burts is a family run business. Staff are welcoming and helpful, service is excellent. Breakfast was delicious, served at the table, all locally sourced ingredients, cooked to order. Dinner was very good with a great choice. My room was comfortable clean and I enjoyed a peaceful sleep.
There is nothing to dislike.
The ambience, the availability of a separate restaurant from the bar area. The soft furnishings in the public area help so much with the acoustics particularly for those hard of hearing.
The shower curtains in the bathrooms. Also the residents lounge is dismal, it is not always possible to get a pre-dinner drink in the bar due to the tables being reserved for diners so the residents lounge would be a nice option but not in its current state.
Great location and convenient car parking right in the middle of town. Single rooms were actually spacious. Very clean and comfortable. Fantastic breakfast options.
Bar prices quite expensive.
Perfectly placed in the centre of Melrose, comfortable room, good food and friendly staff.
Clean , easy and great location
The breakfast experience was not great
A friendly welcome from all, and an excellent location. After an explore, we caught the last of the sun in the beautifully kept beer garden. Fantastic evening meal, and a great breakfast choice. Bed and room super comfortable.
Excellent breakfast options. Room was very pleasant and location ideal.
More shampoo and shower gel being made available. One small bottle of each for 2 people for 2 nights, not sufficient.
Room was to small
Breakfast perfect. Location ideal.
Noisy air conditioning outside bedroom window
I was disappointed with the exceptionally small bedroom overlooking kitchen exhaust chimney and refuse bins
Breakfast choice was good, freshly cooked, relaxed. Staff friendly. Clean and comfortable despite heatwave.
Room at back was exposed to security light that kept going off and on during the night. The regular on and off was a bit annoying.
Very good staff,f excellent btreafast.A lovely 1 nightt stay.
I'm a vegetarian and the food was excellent. Best full breakfast I have had in a long time. The single room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pint in the beer garden was also very lovely.
Nothing.
Das Essen und der Service waren sehr gut. Stilgerechte Einrichtung.
Hatten als Hausgäste an einem Abend Schwierigkeiten einen schönen Tisch für das Dinner zu bekommen.
Very lovely hotel, amazing helpful and friendly staff, great breakfast and an exceptionally well kept real ale (Timothy Taylors landlord was on when we visited)
Bathroom could maybe have been be more modern, but was fine, functional and spotless.
We have stayed here before and find it very suitable for staying at to break our journey either to or from Scotland. The rooms are fine, easy parking and being situated in Melrose there are plenty of places to visit in walking distance to relax and unwind. This time we ate in the restaurant and it was very good indeed.
Very comfortable
Nice old fashioned Hotel in the center of Melrose. Beautiful rooms, pub and Restaurant. Good food, good beers, friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Car place behind the Hotel. Could not have asked for more.
lovely hotel
nothing
The service and hotel location (for walking the SCW trail) were great. It was only a short stay and we had a very early start , so were unable to stay for breakfast but the hotel were kind enough to provide alternative supplies to take with us and keep us going.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was delicious.
Central location, comfy bed.
Food felt overpriced.
Location
Good location high standard room and exceptional food and friendly staff
I can’t really think of anything that I didn’t like
Everything was wonderful. Nick, the owner was so kind to us accommodating our needs and we both got a beautiful comfortable room. We dined in the hotel and had a delicious bar supper and a lovely breakfast was included in our room rate. I would highly recommend this warm and welcoming family-run hotel
All good 👍🏻
Much to like, but lack of decent alternatives locally means that you do pay a premium. Tweedbank station a short taxi ride (or a very pleasant river walk) from the hotel making a day trip into Edinburgh easy
Food was first class
Nice beer garden, good food, very pleasant staff
Only one set of towels for both of us
It was very clean, quiet and warm
Everything, especially the food. Excellent service and very helpful staff
Lovely super friendly staff . Very comfortable hotel and very popular. Food was very hearty and large platefuls. Plenty of choice. Very central location.
Very little to change. Maybe run breakfast half an hour later.
Lovely, friendly hotel, with great staff
Beautiful Full Scottish breakfast served by lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you
Limited space in car park and even arriving at 1.00pm there was limited parking spaces with some tight manoeuvring techniques deployed
Staff very helpful. Breakfast good.
I had a lovely stay at Burts hotel. Very welcoming, room was lovely. Bed was really comfy. A great sleep.
Old fashioned, very good value. Very comfortable bed and good shower.

Everything about this hotel is excellent. Breakfast and evening meal very good Proper dog friendly which makes your stay relaxing Staff very friendly Location perfect

In central position in Melrose
Very convenient
Booked a superior room and said we had a dog but when we checked in we were told it was not a dog friendly room and had to move to a smaller room. Very disappointing.
Clean and quiet. Central location with parking.
Bar staff. Not pleased to see us at 9pm. When asked if they could do food was told ‘we’ve got our crisps’ pointing to packets on bar. This from a hotel. Awful.
The central location in Melrose The room was extremely comfortable and spacious The bathroom was excellent I enjoyed a bath after my long walk! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly
The absence of a lift to the 2nd floor!
The first impressions are that this is a well established hotel. Very traditional and comfortable. It was the first time I had visited Melrose and the location couldn't have been better...all the fantastic, independent shops just outside the front entrance. I had a single room which was a good size...not a cupboard as some single rooms can be! The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely pillows. Everything was considered..I didn't have to look for anything, it was all there..even a magnifying mirror for makeup. Breakfast was excellent...a varied menu. Everything delivered promptly. Don't know what make the coffee is but it was delicious. My friend and I didn't have an evening meal so can't comment. I would stay here again. Have seen two upgraded single rooms which I would choose next time.
Can't fault anything.
Easy check in super friendly staff parking very close! Bed was so comfy!!
Bathroom needs an upgrade maybe change the bath shower situation so you dont need a curtain. Clean though
I liked that at night, the hotel was quiet. As I was staying by myself, I found the hotel and the area very safe. There was also a good amount of parking available
Large room large bed
No tea coffee in room
unfortunately there was a generator operating all night long which kept me awake coupled with me not enjoying the pillows I hardly slept at all , I feel in fairness the pillows were good just not to my liking
Lovely hotel, I have stayed many times
All good
Fantastic stay at Burt’s Hotel. Stayed one night in a single room, bed was lovely and comfy, room was clean and had everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious! Service was excellent. Would happily stay here again.
It was very convenient for public transport. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good.
Nothing really. I might have like a bit less cereal for breakfast or to choose my own amount.
Bedroom was very clean and bright. Food especially at dinner was excellent and tasty. Service was very good and staff friendly and helpful.
The chair in the bedroom wasn't great but acceptable. A very small thing when compared to the overall package.
Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Lovely kelp toiletries
having drinking chocolate sachets as well as the coffee and tea
Location and friendly restaurant staff. Lovely food.
Room very tired and dated. Bathroom shabby and bath tap not working.
On arrival into Melrose it was a lovely little town, the hotel was easy to find and was situated on the main high street, looked lovely from the outside
The only thing that was a downside was from the smell off fish from the restaurant throughout the hotel.
Clean and comfortable, food excellent and they clearly buy the best quality.
The room needed a redecorate and it's on the the main rd so there is traffic noise
I’m a big fan of Burt’s hotel. It’s a good example of a family run 3 star hotel that combines warm hospitality, great food and immaculate accommodation at a reasonable price. Great hospitality in the heart of the beautiful Scottish Borders. Keep up the good work guys!
Comfortable room in quiet location, staff and management were very welcoming and attentive. The catering was to a high standard with the salmon starter at dinner a highlight. Location is very central and the private parking is a real plus.
Nothing.
Breakfast was a must. Thank you for allowing us to dine earlier as we had work commitments which started early that day.
room was small but as advertised, rate was quite high for the room size but worked for a single traveller.
Love the location , early check in
Nothing
Warm homely feel to it, comfortable and over all very good.

Staff were great; the food is good and either included or reasonably priced. Good location, ample free parking. Ripping-off the guests does not appear to be in their dictionary.
Didn't dislike anything.
A lovely family run hotel, staff very welcoming and attentive.
Nothing to say here.
Comprehensive and excellent breakfast menu. Food good with first rate service by staff.
Bedroom a little chilly on arrival.
Breakfast was excellent , all the staff were very friendly and approachable.
Loved the room and the housekeeping was brilliant - someone noticed that I was drinking all the available water, so resupplied me with double the number of bottles (and biscuits!). Very sweet.
The food in the dining room felt warmed-up, rather than freshly cooked, but tadted good.
Attentive welcoming staff. Dinner in the bar Bistro was excellent with great friendly service. Executive single room was cosy with wide comfortable bed. Location was in centre of town but not noisy. Close to Borders crematorium - the reason for my visit.
Nothing springs to mind.
The service was exceptional. The staff were amazing. The food options were great. I would come again.
Nothing
Lovely clean room, staff were very friendly and attentive. Very good breakfast.
Nothing
The breakfast was the best I have ever had- delicious porridge, fruit and fresh croissants. All waited upon, no scrum round a central table - VERY important! Room a bit snug but everything you needed like hospitality tray and good lighting to read in bed, plenty of pillows. delightful sitting room next door for relaxing and reading. Good lighting in the shower room for doing make up etc.
