The whole place seemed to be in the process of regeneration. The rooms off a courtyard were quaint and homely
The bedding just wasn’t wide enough. We have encountered these tiny duvets before and they just aren’t comfortable
The host and staff were friendly and welcoming every day and nothing was too much trouble. The room was amazing very roomy and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable. The fresh water and shortbread daily were a lovely touch.
Nothing all good
Clean and spacious room
Difficult to walk into lymington
Room size. Parking on site.
Further from town than expected.
Its location was ideal for catching ferry. Attractive chalets and well equipped.
The only fault we found was how we heard next door using bathroom.
Our room was cosy, comfortable, clean and incredibly quiet. Water full shower was lovely, hot water came through fast and was a good pressure. Nice selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room, which went well with the homemade shortbread biscuits that were delicious. Everything was replenished daily. Good amount of parking and the hotels location is ideal for exploring the New Forest. Breakfast choices were good and the full English was cooked well and a good start to the day. All members of staff were friendly and we were made to feel welcome. We will definitely stay again.
We have nothing to complain about.
Hele fijne kamer, aardig personeel, goed ontbijt, rustige ligging net buiten het dorp op loopafstand

Beautiful building
Breakfast was excellent. Location quite remote so quiet.
Nothing really.
Accidentally left skirt in wardrobe, they kindly mailed it on.
The whole experience was fantastic. The room , food and staff were excellent.
Nothing.
Friendly staff with a comfortable environment and a good location
Comfortable room, friendly staff, breakfast was good.
Ealy closing times in pub, a bit too far from Lymington. Slightly overpriced.
Cosy clean room, quiet and comfortable.
Restaurant was a little tired looking, but not terrible, couple of food stains on furniture/walls which is easy to deal with…empty tubs outside could have done with some colourful flowers…Still loved coming here as room was a 10/10. Didn’t eat here.
Everything. Beautiful property, comfy and lovely food!!!
Nothing!
Great size room and lovely breakfast.
Although it was walking distance to Lymington Town, the road was too narrow and dark to use safely at night. Restaurant closed too early for us to eat there.
Breakfast on Day 1, enjoyable. Room ok modern style, parking good. Location ok if driving for Lymington/New Forest.
Room ;- Bed uncomfortable, needs a topper if using twin beds together, shower to small to get in and out easy. no fresh air, only one little window at the top other part of window sealed, tatty paint work on external doors to the rooms. Outside:- Horrible sun shades in the entrance way as you arrive need to be plain colour, no attention to planting in pots or remove them. Dumped items left near shed in car park. Paint peeling on doors for entrance to breakfast room, dark area. Would be good if the Hotel Inspector visited, it could be lovely, due to character of the building, hotel lacks care and attention. Breakfast Day 2;- run out of croissants at 8.00am. Price for the stay was expensive for the standard currently provided. Reviewing the recent comments from Trip Advisor seems to match my experience.
Very nice room, comfy bed and bedding. Accomodation is flawless.
Restaurant closes at 10, last order for a meal at 8. The quality of the food was disappointing. Also breakfast. Staff not really educated nor engaged. They say the hotel is in transition to a new owner. So maybe it will change for the better.
A well equipped, comfortable room. Good breakfast. We had a really good evening meal. Well positioned in easy reach of Lymington walking or by car. We stayed 3 nights
Great stay. The site is beautiful, lovely rooms, really nice pub, welcoming staff, delicious breakfast and just a short drive to the town.
Friendly staff relaxed atmosphere and parking
Nice location, pleasant room
Absolutely no atmosphere in the bar, disinterested staff
Staff when onsite pleasant communicative Bathroom overall very clean
Dinner curry atrocious Rice inedible Meat in curry had caught saucepan and some sinew Fee back to waiter when on site Soiled bedding Revealed when leaving room Worn furnishings eg torn net curtain in room
This is a good location just outside Lymington. The accommodation is located to the side and back of the buildings and is comfortable and quiet. the breakfast was considerably better than the dinner and the staff were very helpful.
I am told that the ownership has recently changed hands and some refurbishment to the exterior and redecoration to the interior would be welcome. We were there on a Saturday in August and the Walhampton Arms appeared rather short of diners and drinkers. I believe that the dinner menu and cooking style could be improved before the next summer season.
Great location, friendly staff, good quality room
Location breakfast was good
The room was disappointing and appeared quite tired and in need of some attention. * The fan mat as you walked into the room was dirty and dusty. * The inside of the drawers was dusty and had not been properly cleaned. * The outside of the windows needed cleaning. * The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress felt lumpy and very cheap. * The shower head was showing signs of rust. Room wasn’t air condition so very hot Overall, the room did not feel as clean or well maintained as I would have expected
Very friendly staff. Good clean accommodation.
😋 100% Empfehlung!
The bed was very comfy and the shower was good
Road noise and no footpath to walk into town without a big dog leg
Very friendly staff, good food and a comfortable room
Nothing
Room was nice and clean
Location
The extreme heat of the room. Felt faint within 10 mins. One very small window that opened. No other ventilation. Huge floor to ceiling glass fixed window with afternoon sun on it. No ventilation of any kind in shower room. Room so dark due to heavy curtains attempting to keep sun off room. So dark electric lights had to be on adding to the heat.
Comfortable bed good breakfast
Bar closed at 9pm
Breakfast was very good. Always served with a smile
Everything was good
The bedroom was well decorated, spacious and relatively clean. The bedding was clean and ironed. The homemade short bread biscuits and bottles of water were a nice touch. Most of the staff seemed friendly.
This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. We are well travelled both nationally and internationally. It is not worth even half of the £175 per night that we paid - we stayed for two. On arrival the parasols are ripped and the courtyard area is full of cigarette butts. It is not welcoming at all. The check in time of 5pm is very late. We now know it's because the pub is open for very limited hours. The foyer to the pub needs a good clean as do the windows. We went to our room, through the first door that is badly damaged. The net curtain in the room is hanging down and in need of attention. The location is ok if you have transport but the main road into Lymington is very dangerous and so you cannot walk along it. We had to get taxis. The breakfast buffet at 8am (so not late) had one croissant and a few cereal options, alongside some fresh fruit. The scrambled egg was served on cheap, thin bread and the eggs benedict was almost inedible, apart from the muffin. The egg had a very strange flavour and the hollandaise looked like custard. The floor next to our table was filthy. We didn't return for breakfast on our second day. Three tea bags were left in our room, which we used on day one and they were not replenished. The whole of the time we were there we didn't see anyone using the bar or the restaurant, and are not surprised. Given the price is a very similar to other hotels in the town centre, something does not add up. How anyone could rate it highly I have no idea. Do not book, do not waste your money. Booking .com need to go and see what it is like and reassess the rating. This was a 'treat' for our wedding anniversary but sadly we were thoroughly disappointed.
Breakfast excellent night time food poor
Very expensive for a 2 night stay Friday night in restaurant we were the only ones .
Clean great location spacious rooms
Nothing
Really friendly, welcoming and professional staff. Great room, comfortable. Good food too
On an unusually hot night the room was really hot, there was a fan in the room but it couldn't really cope, a bigger one would have helped
Good location quiet plenty of parking. Great outdoor places to sit. Good range of choice on the evening menu. Good service and fresh cook food. Lovely
Nice room, good value for our trip. Just a short walk into Lymington.
A fridge in the room would have been nice, to keep drinks cold when the bar wasn't open (closes at 6pm on a Sunday)
Rooms large, airy & clean.
The doors/gates to the property weren't always open at the correct times & we were left waiting.
Location, and parking. Very comfy beds.
Great hotel with very nice staff. Great little cabin with tea and biscuits and snacks. Great breakfast, we accidentally arrived after breakfast had ended, but the staff member kindly squeezed us in for a full english breakfast.
Location is very nice, but a bit far out of Lymington. We had a car, so this was perfect, but it might be difficult without a car.
Slept really well on a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and staff very welcoming. Lovely quiet location and particularly appreciated the leaflet with details of walks starting from the inn.
Everthing
Friendly staff. Good cider. Good food.
No air conditioning a fan that not really gave any air rooms very warm
Breakfast was good, and better portions than often.
The door key/lock was difficult.
On the whole a great location and great accommodation. Breakfast was really tasty and the staff were really helpful and kind. Plenty of parking. Lovely touch of homemade shortbread in the room.
Nothing. It was a really great place. Maybe the car park at rear of accommodation could be turned into garden to enjoy when weather good.
Beautifully furnished rooms. Personal touch with delicious home made shortbread provided in the room.
No food served after 3 on a Sunday and bar shut after 6pm on a Sunday.
Location. Car parking.
No air conditioning
Comfortable bed in a spacious clean room. Parking at our door and breakfast a short walk to the pub. Breakfast options were good. Also had dinner there which was nice. Friendly staff.
The ashtrays on the outdoor tables filled with cigarette butts. Even with the lids on the ashtrays you could still smell them.
Great location for us. Comfortable and staff were very helpful and friendly.
Nothing
Lovely room and perfect location for us.
No a/c.
Location was good, bed was comfortable staff were very friendly
One complaint about the breakfast the bacon was so overcooked to be tasteless
Lovely countryside location, rooms were clean and a really good size. The homemade shortbread was unreal.
The rooms were really hot due to no aircon and a small window but I appreciate its an old building and so it wasn’t unexpected.
We arrived in a heatwave after a long journey from Kent to be greeted by a lovely girl behind the bar. We checked in with no problems at all, and made our way to a lovely comfortable room (8) which was cool, clean and decorated with beautiful relaxing colours. We ate a very good meal that night in the restaurant and slept perfectly in the ultra-comfortable giant bed..heavenly.
The staff are all lovely, without exception they were kind and attentive. The bed is huge (2 singles put together) and very comfortable. It was a very hot few days and they had thoughtfully put a fan in each room (no Aircon). Nice shower. Good options for gluten and milk allergy. Tea and coffee making options in the room and some nice shortbread biscuits too. We ate in the pub each evening and the food was good, breakfasts were also good.. They have a good leaflet giving options for circular walks close to the pub which was nice, if we had a more able group we would have definitely done one. Lots of parking and good disabled parking spaces too. WiFi was good but not enough bandwidth to stream netflix type things, the TV's had something like Freesat or Freeview. The room was cleaned each day, which these days you don't usually get for short stays. It was all good for a couple of days.
There was a cockup with one room, I had taken a special trip down the week before to recon the place as my parents are elderly and one has some real mobility issues. I spoke to a guy in the pub (that acts as the reception for the rooms) and asked if we could have 1 room close to the pub/restaurant bit, we didn't need a fully accessible room but just one that didn't involve much walking or steps. He said yes and allocated us room 10 (level short walk away). He confirmed it was all sorted in the computer. When we got there the week following they had given that room away and all our rooms were a little away from the pub, 2 with a couple of steps up to the door or one with a little ramp (we gave them room 4 with the ramp). It was not a huge distance but was not what had been agreed. The chap who checked us in was apologetic and offered to swap my parents the following night to room 10 but having got them settled they didn't want to make a fuss. My room (room 2) had an issue with ants - the other 2 rooms we had were fine. It might be due to a big gap at the bottom of the door to that room and/or a previous occupant having food in the room but it was not pleasant and they remained the following day even after it was cleaned. Luckily the shortbread biscuits are in mason jars that are well secured and some pop we brought with us was secured in a tightly closing cool box ! Some of the communication was a bit lacking. In the booking confirmation paperwork we had been told it shut in the week from I think 2-5 (maybe 3-5) and check-in should be after that, also the laminate in the room giving general info also stated that too but the pub was open all day (I asked when I did the recon and they close afternoons in winter apparently). The pub did shut early each night in the week - 9pm. There is nothing else close to the pub, not an issue if driving but once in and had a drink you are kind of stuck there.
Helpful staff Good breakfast
Too hot needs good air conditioning
Lovely hotel, fabulous location with wonderful staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Super hot weather when we visited so an air-con unit would have helped with sleep and a fridge to keep drinks cold.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom felt luxurious. The shortbread biscuits were delicious!
Wider choice of breakfast would be great, main focus is on cooked breakfast.
Really disappointed.
Easy to get to places, in a great location , hotel is clean and tidy and staff and host are brilliant
Nothing
Lovely pub and rooms. Freshly cooked breakfast.
The room was very dark. Horrible walk into town if you go the short way, down a fast road with bends and no pavements. I preferred the longer and quiet route via Monument Way.
We liked the privacy of the room and the complimentary tea/coffee and hot chocolate with the homemade shortbread being a lovely touch and very delicious. We appreciated the provision of the fan which was very welcome in this extreme heat. The breakfast was good too.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely room and comfortable bed. Convenient location.
The location was fine for our purposes.
This is got absolutely nothing to do with the hotel itself, but the night we stayed was incredibly warm and the small chalet style bedroom never really cool down adequately
Good size well equipped room, friendly staff, good parking,
That it didn’t have a garden other than the beer terrace.
Quite, easy to find, very picturesque and above all very clean.
Nothing to dislike,
A beautiful old building. Cool bedroom in the courtyard. Nice shortbread biscuits.
Pillows need to be replaced - they are hard and uncomfortable. Table a bit sticky at evening meal. Gin and tonics need to be served with ice and lemon. Breakfast not very inspiring.
A very pretty property, a 15/20 minute walk from the town centre.
The Bar closed very early in the evening, on Sunday this was at 6pm which we had not been informed about, after walking beck from town at around 7pm we just fancied a drink in the bar on our return but it was all closed up.
Staff very friendly, accommodation was modern and comfortable. Cooked breakfast was excellent.
Breakfast buffet was a bit limited.
The room was glorious and I loved that it was slightly separate to but right next to the pub.
Nothing.
The rooms were excellent ! very clean and well thought out ! They were cleaned daily to a high standard ! Being able to park our car outside our room .

Sjarmerende sted med nydelig mat. Trivelig vertskap.
Location suited us very well for overnite stayover. Food good. Plenty of car park space and accommodation nicely spread out.
Fan didn't work in the room. En-suite floor tiles unstable and loose.
Good sized room and location.A very comfortable bed,
I suffer with balance issues and the shower had no grab handle in it so that it was not possible for me to have a shower safely. Breakfast could have had a better buffet selection.
A very nice clean and comfortable room which had everything you need. Nice comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Really close to Wightlink ferry terminal and option of 7.30am breakfast which was handy for us as we were catching an early ferry. It is also very close to lovely places in the new forest and beaches. Walking distance to Lymington so a good place to stay for a holiday.
the location didn't allow safe walking into the town
Comfortable, clean rooms, well maintained and spacious. Quiet location away from the town. Friendly staff.
The food. Breakfast was good, not a lot of choice in bread or fresh fruit. Carvery was good although some of the vegetables were a little overcooked. We had dinner on our last evening which could have been better, short staffed which didn’t help.
Well located slightly outside Lymington but only a 20min walk across the fields into the town. Pretty rural setting and minutes from the ferry terminal to Yarmouth. Rooms were a reasonable size, themed in keeping with the area and quiet. Tea/ coffee in the room.
Breakfast was average (cooked options) & the buffet needs considerable improvement. Staff were Ok but not particularly attentive ( had to ask for cutlery, milk etc). Building was superficially tatty in places.
Lovely room. Good breakfast.
Out of town quiet location plenty of parking. Large bedroom with fan. Buffet and choice of cooked breakfast to order
No fridge
Breakfast very good [ i did ask for more taken very well ]Evening meal was good surprised the did not have some of the things i asked for like chillies and other things just to add a little heat, but very very good price for amount you got.
We were there during the heat wave so it meant fan on constantly and the door open all night [oh for air conditioning ]and a few more herbs and spices but still really really good meal price and ice and water on tap and also you did not have to pay!!
Great Manager. She was helpful during high temperatures finding extra fans.
Staff were great very helpful and friendly.Food was excellent both breakfast and evening meals.
Nothing
Peaceful location. Beautifully decorated rooms and comfy beds. Lovely shortbread biscuits. Very nice breakfast.
The electric power substation box on the edge of the entrance has some kind of alarm which continuously beeps. Not sure what/why? A minor personal disappointment is that I wish I had taken my own shampoo as the one liquid wash for everything didn’t work well for me - but that’s just me! These are just niggles…..and awareness’
The room was good, the food in the pub was good, the people were lovely, just a 15 minute walk to Lymington, a really nice place for a short stay
Large room Big bathroom with shower USB sockets Bottles of water in the room and homemade biscuits Large, comfortable bed Room set slightly apart from the main pub, which gave privacy Welcoming on arrival, and staff were friendly and helpful
all was good
An excellent place to stay - spotlessly clean, really comfortable and friendly welcoming staff.
A wider selection of breakfast choices, other than fried, and a wider buffet selection would make it a perfect place to stay.
Nice room and bar area
The pub shut early on the Sunday night, closed by 6pm.
