Room was rather cramped.

The only thing we found a little difficult was we had to go out for our evening meal

The breakfast was fantastic..Bedroom was average but ok seeing your only sleeping after being out all day but could do with a bigger duvet and definitely decorating. Ensuite was nice though. Free parking which is a bonus if you get there in time for a space.

Just returned from our 4th stay at the wheeldale. Excellent stayed in room 3 which has a large bay window with panoramic sea view. It's spotless coffee tea and milk replenished daily. The breakfast is fantastic with plenty of choice. The owners and staff are friendly and approachable. Will be booking again for next year. Jeanette and Billy😊😊

The room was so much bigger than expected. As well as a comfy double bed, there was a settee in the room, an entrance hall and the bathroom was a good size. The shower was good, with lots of hot water. We had the full English which was fabulous and the service was great. The parking permit for just £2 allowed us to leave the car in the same spot for 2 days. There was a path down to the amazing beach (the walk back was not as easy but great exercise). When visiting Whitby again, if this accommodation is not available, we will be very disappointed.

Lovely little place, a bit on the "cosy" side. We stayed for 2 nights, so wasn't too much of a problem. The first day/night we were there it was extremely hot. We were in room 3 (which we paid a little more for) and no fan available and only 2 small top windows opened. Bathroom is very small, but shower is good (but no shelf to put shampoo etc in there). Little things which we expected paying £380 for 2 nights , should have been included. The view was amazing and it was lovely sitting at night watching the world go by with a bottle of wine (which you can purchase from the fridge downstairs - honesty bar. Thought this was a great idea). Host was absolutely delightful and very friendly. Breakfast was very good and had a good sleep. Issue with parking - as we needed to leave early and people had blocked us in (which we expected during our stay as it was explained) but when trying to leave it was an issue to get others to move. If the outside wall was removed 6 cars could comfortably fit in - it the last remaining part of the low wall was removed - cars could get out easier. Having said this ... we had a lovely stay and would we stay again ... yes if the small niggles (which are not going to break the bank) were added for the price you pay ... but would park on the road next time. Room 3 is delightful ... just a small (quiet) fan would be very welcome and great location / nice walk into the town ... hotel is in a very nice, quiet part of Whitby.

The location on West Parade was fabulous. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. The cleanliness of our room was exceptional. The facilities were also very good.

Parking was a bit of a squeeze and not always available, which meant having to find a slot down the road. In our room the television was rather small for the location of where we had to view it.

I asked for a poached egg with my breakfast which definitely wasn’t poached, it had been done in the microwave and had a hard yolk and round hard white, I expect the white to be soft not rubbery and the yolk runny. Not nice!

The location was perfect, just a short walk from the beach, making it easy to enjoy Whitby. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with a great selection. The staff were friendly and welcoming too. Absolutely fantastic stay! We stayed for one night as a couple and couldn’t have been happier. The room was spotless, very comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the beach and close to everything Whitby has to offer. Breakfast was outstanding with a great selection of fresh and delicious food. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Everything, convenient location for town and sands end room spotless checked every day breakfast were well value for money Everything fresh and local nothing too much trouble if you want something changing on the menu eg bacon sandwich we added egg and mushrooms to it. Staff very friendly and welcoming, Cant wait to visit again 😊

I love the location,the room was very clean and had everything I needed.Very quiet at night which is great as im a very poor sleeper. The English breakfast i have to say is one of the best I have had and I have had a few over the years. Staff are so friendly.Hotel has small car park,but plenty of room on road by hotel.You can get a disc or pass for up to 4 days for £5.I will definitely be returning soon.

Myself and my wife have just spent the last 7 days in Whitby stopping at the wheeldale hotel. We found the owners and staff very welcoming and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very nice and clean and we had a nice view from our balcony. The breakfast was very nice to. The parking was limited but the hotel supply you with a parking permit for parking on the road as part of your stay. I would highly recommend this accommodation and would definitely stay here again the next time I choose north Yorkshire for a holiday. Great atmosphere and value for money.

The Wheeldale is one of the best places to stay in Whitby. Rooms are a good size as are the bathrooms. It is well situated for the Pavillion theatre and other amenities. Staff are friendly and food is delicious.

The room was too small for 2 adults. I have not stayed anywhere else where the wardrobe was in the bathroom!!

Amazing welcome by Jenna on the front desk, staff at breakfast were lovely too. A great cohesive team. Food was really good, good choice and well cooked. Sea view was excellent. Paid a bit extra for it but worth every penny. Excellent value parking permit for on street parking , £2 for 2 nights! Guest lounge was spacious and airy with a well stocked honesty fridge fill of soft and alcoholic drinks. Free Wi-Fi which worked well throughout our 2 night stay. On the whole, made to feel very welcome and looked after from start to finish.

The room was a bit tired in places, but functional and clean. The room above could have done with thicker underlay as we could hear every footstep ( And I think they were getting their steps in! ) We only had 1 chair in a double room, would have been nice to have another but space was rather limited so understand why. Not really much to complain about though.

Staff are very friendly and informative. Our room was very clean and modernised. We had a room at the back without a sea view but it had a nice balcony overlooking the cricket ground which got the sun. Bed was comfortable. Shower with good pressure and temperature control. Lounge has a reasonably priced election of cans in a fridge, soft drinks, beer, lager and cider. Didn't see any wine in there during our stay. Breakfast was very nice. Other options, but full English cooked nicely with generous selection and hot. Limited on site parking but very easy to park close by. Quiet location with great views. We did find that there are limited bars and restaurants very close by, some not open, but plenty if you walk down to the harbour area.

Breakfast was excellent. The hotel was nicely situated to get to the town centre. The views were spectacular.

This hotel never fails to impress me. Came up for a relaxing weekend in a beautiful place and that’s exactly what I got. The staff took great care of me and my friend, rooms are modern, clean and quiet and the breakfast is top notch. The sea view from room 7 is epic! I would strongly recommend a stay at this lovely family run establishment, that’s why I keep coming back! Thank you Toby, Rebecca, Jenna and staff, until the next time. 😃😃😃

My good lady booked this as a surprise for my birthday and absolutely smashed it. Check-in wasn’t until 1pm, but we arrived early and were told the room was ready, which instantly put the place in our good books. The room itself was massive, with a brilliant view overlooking the cricket ground. Then came the extra surprise waiting for me in the room: two baskets full of goodies and a card. There were three bottles of local beer, chocolate bars, crisps and loads of other treats. Honestly felt like U’d won some sort of middle-aged treasure hunt. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. Proper local produce, cooked well, and actually filling. None of that “one mushroom balanced artistically on toast” nonsense. Set me up perfectly for the rest of the day. Location-wise, it was spot on too. Only about a 5-10 minute walk into the centre of Whitby, which made everything easy without being stuck right in the middle of the crowds. Can’t wait to come back. 🍻

Het ontbijt was niet uitgebreid maar je kon wel iets eten om je maag op gang te brengen. Het is een heel typisch Engels ontbijt. Spek, eieren, bonen waren er aanwezig maar wij misten helaas kaas of wat pure yoghurt, croissantjes of andere ontbijtkoeken. Onze persoonlijke mening.

Ik wil het knusse familiehotel zeker niet negatief benadrukken want iedereen was heel lief en vriendelijk. We hadden waterflesjes genomen uit de minibar en de eigenaresse heeft dit niet aangerekend. Mischien kunnen er een aantal varieteiten van kazen aangeboden worden voor mensen die geen vlees eten met het ontbijt. Maar nogmaals, persoonlijke mening :)

Good quality nicely cooked breakfast. Well presented. Rooms lovely and clean. Bed very comfy, bedding was crisp white and smelt so fresh.

View from the room was spectacular. Location was terrific, right on the prom for great walks either side and only 10-15 mins from town centre. Breakfast was hearty and tasty.

We booked this fantastic hotel for our business trip and chose a room with a sea view. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful. We were looking for a few local sights, and the manager kindly took the time to explain everything on a map for us, which we really appreciated. The location is excellent, from our room we even had a view of Whitby Abbey. The room itself is very cosy and warm, with a compact but spotless bathroom. Breakfast was simple but very tasty, offering a nice continental selection. Overall, an outstanding stay. You truly deserve to be number one in our books! Thank you for everything.

Sea view, breakfast, friendly welcome

The fact there were absolutely no hooks, towel rails or shelves for our toiletries in the bathroom. All bath towels, wet or dry had to be put on the floor, as did our clothes.

Excellent, best I have had for a long while

The sink in the bath was very nearly blocked and had a bad odour. I highlighted this to Jenna (the owner) who said she would get it sorted.

Decided on a whim to go to whitby for the night, searched booking.com and Google as ya do, and found this gem with great reviews and very reasonable prices. Booked room 6 and arrived a couple of hours later, to be welcomed warmly, car park on site, big clean spacious room with everything you would need for a night away. Will definitely be back here when we next want a weekend away.
