I had a bit of difficulty finding it

Location for Historic dockyard

Room smelt of cigarettes and there was ash on the window sill. Previous occupant had obviously smoked. No bedside light and old mattress.

The whole place was very clean and the staff were lovely, perfect location for trains, busses and the historic dockyard.

The mattress was awful, the bed sunk in the middle and I could feel the springs coming through. Bed base was good, just get a new mattress and our stay would have been perfect.

Great location for the historic dockyards and good that they have their own parking. The common kitchen was very clean and everything was in good state.

Matress was in terrible shape. I had a bad uncofortable night because of it. The pillows smelled bad. The toilet had something "brown" that had not been cleaned which I would assume was produed by a human who had used it before.

We actually stayed at the Keppel Hotel as the staff said the victory wasn't up to par

The cleanliness was absolutely terrible. Hairs all in the bed, dust on the only surface to put belongings. Dirt all over the floor. Bathroom filthy with stuff in the walls and floor. Worse than my student accommodation. The bed was worse than an airbed. It went flat to the bedframe when you sat or led on it. Absolutely ridiculous

The location is so handy for all the transport in Portsmouth Harbour. Across the road. The checkin and key collection is in. Sister hotel close by. Very close 5 mins walk to GunnWharf quay shops and eating. The Victory house entrance and stairwell shows signs of wear and tear and age but our room was fresh and modern with a small bathroom. The cooked breakfast was generous but a little ordinary but there was plenty of choice of yoghurt and cereals and toast too. The staff were very nice and also happy to store our luggage at the main hotel, ( close)

Close proximity to station means that you hear the trains. Was disturbed by guests above as they dropped things on the floor and left at 4 in the morning. Understand that this is not hotels fault but consideration of insulation like carpet for upper room might help. Booking.com states use of kitchen and garden. This is not mentioned in guest house guide. We found kitchen but with room 1 very close did not want to use kitchen.

Room was off the kitchen which would potenially have been noisy if anyone had used the kitchen. No bedside lamp, so had to get out of bed to turn the overhead light off then it was dark to find the bed.

L'aide du personnel qui a monté mes (lourdes) valises jusqu'au 2ème étage, puis est revenu à ma demande après mon check out pour les redescendre et les garder jusqu'au soir, afin que je puisse profiter de ma dernière journée sur Portsmouth.

Breakfast was the highlight of our stay. Room was quite basic but well situated for the rail station.,

Room was a bit small and cramped. Only one chair for two people. Didn't find the 'common room' with the promised microwave until we were leaving, as the door was not labelled as such.

Die Lage gleich beim Bahnhof und beim Busterminal. Gut für Ausflüge in alle Richtungen (Altstadt, Marinemuseum, Isle of Wight, ....).

Das Bett war für 2 Personen viel zu schmal und es war sehr durchgelegen. Die Bahn ist sehr laut, wenn man die Fenster geöffnet hat!

The location was perfect. Also, with a parking permit, which costs £5, we could park right outside. Inside was clean. There was also a kitchen available, if needed.

When we booked here, we were not aware that we had to report to a hotel first to collect a key for the front door, and a key for our room. When we booked to have a breakfast, we were also not aware that we had to go back to the hotel to eat it. Usually, when you book a breakfast, you walk down a few stairs, not a few streets away. It did not help it was also raining. The en-suite was almost inside a cupboard!

Piccola , stretta , scomoda 2 persone ci andavano strette. Il bagno piccolissimo e il lavandino talmente piccolo sembrava quello delle bambole. La camera sporca chissà da quanto non la pulivano , i pelucchi volavano non appena aprivi la porticina d’ingresso. Per ultimo , camera piccola al terzonpiqno senza ascensore ( ci può stare) la scala strettissima con moquette che per salire la valigia ci abbiamo messo mezz’ora . Qualità / prezzo molto scarso

Reception staff were very courteous and super helpful. The bed was really comfortable and we had a really good night's sleep. The shower was good. Car park was only £5 and it was locked overnight so we felt that our car was safe. Great location for local attractions, shops and transport hub.

Could have been cleaner - kettle was covered in dust so we didn't feel comfortable using it. Short walk from check-in location to the actual property but it was fine.

30min delay on check-in due to room not being ready. When I was told it was ready, I found someone's dirty towels still hanging in the room. Floor was full of someone's hair and rubbish. When confronted desk about it ,all they did is offered a free drink in the bar (I don't drink and had other plans, so I had to pass). Very disappointing service as it feels all they did is made up bed and o cleaning was done

Walking distance to downtown, check in and breakfast at sister property was easy and staff were excellent

Opposite train station which is busy, rooms at front of property is quite noisy

Location. Simple, but clean.

Access OK, but booking in at nearby Hotel not so straightforward for visitors not familiar with location. Distance for walking with luggage between booking in & Old Victory could be a problem for some, or in less pleasant weather.

Stairs, and the fact that we had two rooms that were room 1 on bottom floor and room 4 at the top, whuch was not good for me to go up and down, but my son- did not want me to have a room next to the kitchen- wold not book again

Room was good, bed not super comfortable but fine for one night. Nice bathroom (although slight damp smell to begin with). Location is amazing from Portsmouth Harbour and for any isle of wight ferries.

Trains can get loud so be aware. We had breakfast included but I wouldn’t recommend paying the price yourself- quite expensive for what we got/ the quality.

Only mirror was behind toilet. Plug for hairdryer and straightener was by tv so had to get ready for afternoon out without a mirror. Makeup was applied by straddling over toilet 😂 no plugs by bed nor lamps. Tv had no signal and bed was pushed against wall, which was so soft I nearly fell out every time my daughter rolled over.

Great value for money.

Really good location, only a short walk from the train and bus station and more importantly from the Historic Dockyard. Comfortable bed, tea/coffee/sugar/milk provided. There is a communal kitchen downstairs, which I didn't use. Breakfast served at the sister hotel, which was really nice.

The shower hasn't been cleaned properly, likely for some time. Shower door handles missed a part which made the top part of the handles inside sharp. Plug from wash basin missing, easy to drop a ring down it. No plugs near the bed, only far away on the opposite side of the room. Also, if I wanted to use the kettle I had to put it on the floor as there wasn't a plug near the table.

The whole place was dated and very dirty. We did at one point consider sleeping in the car instead.

Convenient for transport links, near by pubs and restaurants. Would stay again.

It's a basic room but clean, with good quality bed linen and towels and a small but well functioning shower. It's close to its sister hotel where hot and continental breakfast is served. Owners (?) were extremely helpful and made me feel welcome. Excellent location and very reasonably priced.

TV didn't seem to work. No WiFi. The only light was very bright.

Vies, vlekken en haren overal op de vloer. Haren en schimmel in de badkamer. Ramen/kozijnen vies, stof overal. Vlekken op de muren inclusief scheuren. 1 houten stoel, je kan koffie/thee zetten (hebben wij niet gedaan) maar de waterkoker kan niet onder de kraan. Kortom geen aanrader, basic vinden wij best oké maar dit is slecht. Ook een Budget kamer hoort schoon te zijn.

The Old Victory House was well positioned. The Keppel’s Head hotel was exceptional, very beautiful, well equipped lounge and rooms easy accessible by lift.

Old Victory House rooms were very small, and staircase steep.

Location was prime for where we wanted to visit.

Wasn't particularly clean, floor didn't look swept, grime around the shower basin. Toilet was wobbly, not the seat, the entire toilet.

The equipment is just renew. The size of room is big in that area. If you are over 100kg you will need a big shower room. All the expierence in this B&B is great on the price I paid for.

Stairs leading to bathroom...window had no curtains or blind. Coffee wasn't replenished. No pillow cases on spare pillows even though they were on the bed.broken cupboard on wardrobe & we had to fix sliding door on shower.

The location was great for exploring the city. The space was clean enough, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.

The space was old and clearly worn. The toilet was awkwardly spaced and lacked a bin accessible there, and there was no hand soap. The walls were thin, and you could hear other guests arriving or leaving.

The location near the hard was perfect as I needed to pop to Gosport for an errand before meeting someone at Gunwharf Quays. Checking in at the nearby Keppel's Head Hotel was easy and staff were attentive. Breakfast was in the (rather grand) hotel dining room and it's clear that the hotel is set up to cater for old salty seadogs like me. Breakfast was reasonable with both the bacon and sausage being of OK quality - although I believe I detected some microwavage on the bacon. Both the house with the accommodation and the hotel are showing signs of their respective ages but it is clear that the owners are keeping up with maintenance and improvements as they can.

While the room was an OK size for one night and the en-suite was finished to a reasonable standard, the white paint finish for both the room and the communal areas made the building look cheap - and the paint in the communal areas was in poor condition. For the breakfast the "full English" description was misleading as there was no black pudding and also the inclusion of an hash brown.

Great affordable option in Portsmouth.

Habitaciòn doble frente a la vìa del tren. Ruidosa. No fuimos capaces de ducharnos porque el desagüe estaba obstruido. Al abrir el grifo del lavamanos salía agua sucia en la ducha. La tv no funcionaba... Problema de enchufe...???

The parking wasn’t clear but I worked it out.

Easy access but external/outdoor did not lock. We had to go back and make sure the door was locked.

Actually it’s very basic but clean. You get what you pay for. Stair Carpets are a bit ropey but our bathroom was IMMACULATE. Tea/coffee etc plus microwave washer ✅✅ . It’s not the Ritz but it was clean and easy.

The location is convenient for both transportation and tourism. Good for that pice. Great english breakfast!

The room looked tired and worn out. We also noticed that there was a lot of dirt on the floor. The window frame wouldn't stay closed.

Breakfast was clean and tidy. Self service. There was green tea, soya milk, coffee and cornflakes as i am vegan, gluten, dairy and yeast free. Lovely interior. Light bright and airy. Good start to the day. Didn't have time to try shower as had to work a charity event until late and had to resolve technolgy crisis when awake, then leave, so cant rate that. Room was a little stuffy like dusty in the air. Otherwise bed comfy, slept well and quiet. Would return.

Nothing to really complain about other than air quality of the room and the extractor runs and runs, you cant switch it off. Room could do with fresh air in it.

Absolute bargain of a room right next to gunwharf quay. Kettle in the room. Lovely fluffy towels. Great breakfast at keppel's head a few minutes up the road.

Late night street noise from revellers, can't be helped, but if you're a light sleeper you may want to take some ear plugs.

Location was ideal for my course. The Hotel helped immensely explain the local parking scheme for main hotel and associated linked block of rooms at Old Victory House (OVH).

Stove is good. Only one dining table for 2 pp only suggest at least for 4pp. Double room only 1 blanket should have 2 blankets specially in winter.

L’emplacement

Juste honteux… ne correspond en rien à la description mise sur le site, d’ailleurs aucune photo de notre chambre n’est mise sur booking et on comprend pourquoi. Quel fut notre étonnement en découvrant cette chambre, si on peut appeler ça une chambre, il s’agit d’un débarras aménagé en chambre, on se croirait dans un hôpital psychiatrique ! Avec une porte de secours donnant sur l’extérieur et une salle de bain sale et glaciale… un cauchemar.

The room is a good size and clean. It has everything you need—towels, a kettle with tea and coffee, and a hairdryer. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff was friendly. A big plus is the shared kitchen for cooking. We didn't use it, but we saw that it was fully equipped with all the necessary utensils and cutlery, as well as a frige, toaster, microwave, and more. After checkout, you can leave your luggage and explore the city undisturbed. The location next to the train station has both advantages and disadvantages.

You can hear the trains, but it's not a problem when the windows are closed. Otherwise it's pretty quiet. The pillows aren't very comfortable, too hard and flat for us.
