I like how central the location was

No sound proofing you could hear people in the rooms next to you and very noisy in the morning from people on the streets you would wake up at 06:00

The location was just perfect!

Location was ideal for our visit to the theatre and then a stroll around town.

Bedroom was a little tight for moving around.

Close to the station and shops

Very conveniently placed, a stones throw from Piccadilly station and the rest of the city centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The noise from the hallways, I struggle to get a decent nights sleep and the banging and thudding really didn’t help with that. I think this is more so down to the guests though and not the hotel staff themselves.

Loved my stay here, visited Manchester for the weekend with my daughter. Staff were friendly and helpful and kept our bags for a small fee. There were a few local shops like Tesco and Morrisons a short walk away to pick up snacks and water as the onsite mini shop is extremely expensive. The beds were comfortable and the Indian restaurant was delicious. We had breakfast at the local Wetherspoons also a short walk. I'd definitely rate this 9/10 only due to the prices of the mini shop.

Breakfast had very little lift. Cold beans and toast was all that was available, apart from Cereal. Which there was no milk for at first

Great location, very central, everything is in walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean with adequate facilities.

Late check out was a little expensive, but as I was up half the night watching the football it was worth paying to have the extra sleep.

Central location easy access for transport. Train station nearby tram stop across the road. Shopping all around

Only one lift working. As small lifts having to wait for it to go down empty then return up for next load.

Great location and parking near by. Most things you need are within walking distance.

Walls are quite thin between the rooms so isn’t the quietest of places.

The girl on reception was very pleasant and witty, made us feel at home. Location was good also.

The hotel is very well located. Near Manchester Piccadilly station, close to Piccadilly Gardens, Chinatown and National Art Gallery. Very convenient.

It was a bit noisy just for the location. There was only one lift working and you have to wait a bit to get the lift.

Location perfect

Great location for city centre, beds were comfortable and room was clean. Doors do not slam loud so cannot hear others leaving their room.

Breakfast was cold and basic. Sign at the door stating wait to be seated waited a while even though there was 2 receptionist. I eventually walk in for a gentleman with a terrible attitude to tell me off stating I should've waited to give my room number. After giving my room number I sit down to have breakfast which was cold. This same man proceeds to then shout at 2 other guests for the same reason but again he's not at the desk to seat them or take room numbers. Fire alarm went off twice with no warning in our room but eventually we figured out it was burnt food in the breakfast room.

I have stayed at this hotel for years and enjoyed it every time. This time however I don’t know if it’s because of the take over or if I just got unlucky with the room but oh my gosh it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on! Usually big beds can be two mattresses pushed together so you fall down but this one was the opposite it had a huge bump in the middle of the mattress and was sunk on either side.

Solo funcionaba un ascensor y era lentísimo. La mayor parte de veces tenías que hacer cola. La habitación estaba bastante sucia. Superficies limpias pero los rincones estaban llenos de suciedad.

Price was very reasonable and location was ok.

The hallways were kind of old and the room felt a bit that way too. However bathroom was recently renovated and new. Bed was very comfy.

Enjoyed my stay in Manchester Portland by Sunday. The location of the hotel just a short walk from Piccadilly Train Station is very convenient for exploring many of Manchesters' tourist attractions. My room was of a decent size with a comfortable bed & good ensuite facilities.

We always stay here when we are in Manchester as it's close to the train station and tram stop. Staff were friendly as ever. Bed comfortable and clean rooms.

Decor in the reception area

Walls in rooms all cracked, bad plastering patch up jobs, dust and dirty a lot of marks and food stains on the bathroom walls, draft by the windows and door, air con didn't work, hotel staff gave a portable heater which still didn't work, slept in a very cold uncomfortable room, breakfast was very cold, uncooked meat, not worth paying for

It was clean, staff were friendly location was fine

It was very noisy. Could hear doors slamming had a room at the back and from 6am in the morning could hear loud trucks unloading. People talking reslly loud and the smell of weed strong noise kept us awake and wasn't able to have a relaxed morning like I had hoped for.

The location.

The noise! Had issues all night. The walls are so thin. The room next door had the TV blasting at midnight and talking loudly. Had to speak to reception as we could not get to sleep. There's no phone to call them. You get told to whattsapp them, but no one answered. The windows are single pane, wooden windows. Could here everything outside all night. People, alarms going off, sirens. I think i eventually got to sleep around 3am and got woken up at 5.50 as the bin man was there, and now there is a huge lorry unloading outside the window, 6.20am!!! I honestly thought the window was open as it was so noisy!! Curtains are awful and the room was light all night. I would not recommend staying here.

Location Great location for transport, cafes and restaurants and good area to be able to explore.

Negatives would be the staff on arrival were very rude and didn’t seem to be bothered when wanting to check in for the night. Made the comment rudely of “only one night I see”. On getting to the room clean interior but on closer inspection there were hairs on the bedding and a mysterious maybe foundation or something else on curtains. Walls paper thin and could hear clearly “couples noise”from room next door. Room smelt of weed which wasn’t great, also no view from window. Cheap hotel but should be cheaper really. £56 was not worth it at all. Would I recommend, no!

Location was excellent, right in Piccadilly Gardens so the tram and bus stop are right across the road. Loads of food places to eat put are nearby and all the shops ie The Arndale centre. We didn't use the restaurant but it looked nice and the menu looked good.

The member of staff on reception was not very friendly and seemed annoyed I asked for help with the lift when we arrived. The room was quite small and hot and the aircon wasn't working. The best was hard and there was only 3 pillows for a double bed. The pillows we did have were lumpy and flat. Decor was nice, tv a good size and curtains were blackout so that was good. Also not enough tea/coffee supplies for the room.

Checked out at 9:30 even though we had our room until 11 and was charged £2 to hold our cases, the couple we were with weren’t charged though?

De kamer had links en rechts wat onderhoud nodig. Plus best rumoerig soms door een airco installatie en geluid vanaf de gang. Kamer had wat onderhoud nodig.

Excellent value. Breakfast not included but we ate it in their very nice restaurant and it was only 18 pounds for two people (adult and child). Very comfortable. Interesting, quirky decor.

The view was not great hence the cheap price but this cannot be improved!

- tacky/cheap decor (e.g bedroom doors covered with a yellow image of a panelled door); blue and bright yellow colour-scheme that was old and peeling in places - Very noisy from other rooms - Only one small lift working, waited an extensive amount of time with 4 other people only for it to be full each time it stopped at our floor so eventually we had to take the stairs down from the 5th floor with our luggage. - First reception staff member would not allow early check in but then an hour later we saw another staff member allowing other guests to check in early - charged £2.50 per bag for the luggage storage after check out!!

It’s poorly maintained as in every hallway needed painting over marks and chips in paint, the carpets which are patterned to not show up dirt were all filthy, the pillows which you only get 1 of were hard and filled with plastic foam, the A/C in the room was so noisy & squeaky we had to turn it off, the breakfast which is bizarrely described as good by some reviews was literally inedible despite adding a significant amount to the room cost ( we went to Pret A Manger across the road which is recommended if you’re unfortunate enough to stay here)

We had the all you could eat breakfast which wasn't really all you could it was a hot plate then any amount of toast cereal cold dry meat - we were under the impression we could have had more eggs or sausage stuff like that but that was not the case

Location was key for us, followed by cost, this ticked both of those boxes perfectly - considering it’s the old ibis, it’s actually almost the same - but the bar/restaurant is now Indian cuisine and although we did not partake in the food, it looked and smelled incredible. QPark Piccadilly gardens is literally around the corner and was perfect for us also. (Book in advance for best price)

Having broken lift was frustrating - although I appreciate this isn’t something that can be fixed on a moments notice! The bathroom products could do with having a little more spent on them, if you prefer a plus 3ply bring your own, and the bed, although clean, dressed ok, only two pillows provided and for the rooms we had, (3 of them!) the mattresses will need an update as soon as possible

Considering it was Pride weekend, and the hotel was busy, they only had one working lift for my entire 4night stay. I booked 3 rooms, one hadn’t been cleaned when we checked in, one had holes in the pillow cases and bed sheets, and the last one didn’t have enough towels. The view from the windows was a GRUBBY internal area, that was littered with trash and dirty nappies.
