The food, both breakfast and dinner, were top notch. Service is really good. Prompt. Attentive without being intrusive. I find the marker of goodness being not having to explain twice and not having to nudge. Voco Southampton passes on both counts.
The bathroom is cramped despite being fully functional so full credit to the architect.
We stayed in the Voco one night before going on a cruise. Everything was perfect. Also ten days later when returned from cruise they were kind enough to let us store our bags in the hotel for the day until we got our flight later that day. Highly recommend.
Everything was perfect.
Breakfast superb
We went out to have breakfast only because we were viewing the area which was pretty nice. There is a lot of historical things still to see . I find the experience to be very enjoyable, I was on my way to board the Cruise Ship. Southampton is a place worth visiting again. The hotel was the best I have been in very clean, bed give me the best sleep, the receptionist Keion was very friendly and nice I flirt with him haha. Overall ten out of ten. Thanks.
close to port, restaurants and historic sites
it was a longer walk from bus station than I thought
the whole experience was great although we were only there for a night , as we were off on a cruise the next day !
Room was very good, bathroom shower fantastic. Pillows were like sleeping on clouds. Breakfast was very good, selection of items exceeded expectations. Have booked for next year prior to cruising.
Nothing I can think of. Hotel not responsible for the foghorn that sounded at 4.30am!
Perfectly situated for the cruise terminal(s)
Modern clean friendly and efficient staff.
Clean and a great location

It was absolutely lovely the staff were great and the view amazing

Location beds staff food
Maybe the parking for residents could be free as quite expensive compared to other local hotels.
price
Room is great and bed super comfy
Breakfast is very expensive at £25 per person won’t be having again
Lovely room. Excellent upgrade to a formerly tired hotel. Good dining menu. Easy parking. Pleasing commitment to environmental issues.
Strange choice of music in the public areas, especially the dining room. Failure to guarantee a parking space for an over night stay adds a little stress.
Excellent value for the money
Near to cruise terminal

The location was good. Evening meal and breakfast were good
Not enough lifts and the were very small. Waited a long time for a lift to my room
A mile from the cruise port. The breakfast was amazing very comfortable. After a long day of travel. I would stay there again.
Staff were very nice and location was excellent. Walking distance to the old town and new town shopping. Also close to cruise port.
No
For the most part everything was fantastic. It was close to everything, very clean, and the staff were fantastic.
There was only one thing and it was the lift. The lifts are tiny and if you’re boarding a cruise the next day then taking the stairs might be quicker. We were on the 9th floor and found people getting on lower down then coming up to go down again. It was a little frustrating. For people who are in wheelchairs chairs or mobility scooters then this could add extra frustrations to your stay.
Great location to stay the night before our cruise, mall was across the street and the titanic museum was within walking distance.
The elevator was broken
It was very convenient to the port. Staff was nice.
The breakfast was not worth the cost. They gave a discount if you booked ahead. Lots of items were out. Didn’t get replenished often. Next time we will go into the quay and have breakfast.
Easy to find, good location
The room was spacious not confining and clean. Breakfast was a treat with a lot of different selections from hot to cold and delicious. The location was great right at the cruise terminal where I boarded when I checked out. Coming back from my excursions I tried the first night having supper at the VOCO and was delighted with the selections that I decided to have dinner every night at VOCO. A different meal each night.
Not sure. To me everything looked OK.
The comfort and quality of the bedroom and the bedroom bed linen and towels they were first class The staff were lovely
It was somewhat expensive
Anna on reception on arrival was very knowledgable and pleasant. Room was light , airy and spacious. Everything was clean and fresh looking. Bed was probably the most comfortable i've ever slept in , in a hotel. Breakfast was buffet style , plentiful and freshly made. Check out was easy, again staff were great, but big thank you to the girl who gave me a map when I returned a half hour later as I'd gotten lost !! Would highlt recommend staying here.
Cant complain about anything.
Location
I loved the hotel. but not Booking.com reservation process. I booked a standard twin room with breakfast included, but the hotel had no record of this from Booking.com.
The booking process through Booking.com was very poor. See previous answer.
Excellent breakfast. Good dinner choices. Nice outdoor spaces for drinks. Great parking garage with easy lift access to reception. Good location looking out onto bay. Good air conditioning. Nice sea view from room.
Didn't like being pressured to make dinner reservations while restaurant was nearly empty.
Location friendly staff
Lifts were difficult on departing days.
Location, very nice hotel
Nothing to dislike
Great location. Friendly staff. Excellent meals.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, clean rooms
Small elevators
Conveniently located to the city cruise terminal. Walking distance to shops. Stapler at reception (so you can staple your cruise tags onto your luggage). Breakfast was fine/standard.
Small room, tiny bathroom. Surprisingly, reception checkout extremely slow (many people checking out at same time so they can embark on cruise). Long wait times to get into elevator during check out (in the end, we all put luggage in lift but walked down the stairs). Restaurant served bland food.
Location is perfect for taking a cruise
The property was modern clean and comfortable Reception staff, especially Yasmina was excellent very attentive and an asset to Voco
Stayed for just one night, spot on location for cruising. The hotel is very well maintained and our stay was very pleasurable. I would like to mention especially two awesome staff -- Karl, who kindly made a 9 people reservation for the Greek restaurant recommended for us, and Su, who patiently explained directions to clueless me how to get to this restaurant, step by step. We shall be back, and thank you again, Daniela
The voco Southampton was perfectly fine for a pre-cruise stay, although there are a few things worth knowing before you book. The location is very convenient to the cruise port and technically walkable, although with several suitcases you'll probably still want a taxi. Our room was small by U.S. standards but comfortable enough for a short stay. The breakfast buffet was quite good and definitely worth adding. The biggest downside is the elevators. There are only two, they're extremely small, and on a cruise departure morning the situation was honestly a bit ridiculous. We waited more than 15 minutes before joining the scores of people choosing to lug huge bags down multiple flights of stairs over waiting any longer. If you're staying here before a cruise, take your large bags downstairs to storage before others wake up, or build extra time into your morning (like, a lot of extra time). The highlight of the hotel was definitely the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Overall, I'd stay here again for the convenience, good breakfast, and excellent staff; it's a sold, practical pre-cruise hotel, but nothing particularly special.
Not included did not have breakfast

Great location overlooking the port. The huge bed was fantastic. Restaurant was tasty.
Limited Parking (Car Park basically full upon arrival at 7pm), Air Con wasn't easy to operate. Lift was slow and small. Restaurant only had 2 working so service was slower than anticipated.
EVERYTHING, friendly staff and lovely breakfast, our room was spacious
NOTHING
Fabulous location. Plenty of parking (£20 for a day), fast EV charger. Fantastic restaurant, great atmosphere and not too busy. Room large, clean, well equipped, quiet and very comfortable. Staff excellent. Right by the cruise dock and very close to many restaurants and bars and sightseeing
Nothing to dislike !
Very convenient for cruise port also walking distance to town centre. Lovely helpful staff food good and lovely and clean. Couldnt really fault
Nothing really
Family and I stayed one night before a cruise. For the port the hotel is perfectly located. Also only a 5 minute walk to local restaurants and bars. This was my first stay in a voco and I was a little apprehensive knowing it was formally a holiday inn, which I dont really care for. We were presently suprised and will return again. Staff were friendly and helpful. Always made a point of acknowledging my daughter which I liked. Room was good size for family although bathroom was tiny. Clean an modern and aircon worked properly! Only nigggle was the beds were extremely hard however i know thats a personal preference. Breakfast was solid if not special. As were the drinks at the bar. Note they only have a seafood restaurant so if thats not what you like then a walk into town is worth it. To be clear, this is not a 5 star hotel, but it good enough to be 4 star. We will return when next in the area as long as price is sensible.
We, like many, recently stayed at the Voco Southampton prior to our cruise. We were pleased with our selection for many reasons, especially because of the friendliness of the staff. They couldn’t have been any nicer, more helpful or more efficient. The location of the hotel is also excellent and while it would have been a lengthy walk to the Mayflower terminal, it seems as though it would be easy to walk to a few others. They work with the local taxi folks so that if you ask them to arrange a cab for you the next day, they can easily do that. The cab arrived on time and it was an easy 10-minute drive. The hotel is also about a 10-minute walk to the shopping mall which offers a large variety of restaurants for any kind of meal you wish. Plus, there are other restaurants nearby in addition to what is offered at the hotel itself. There were three of us which made the room a bit tight. Not uncomfortable though. The bed was fine. The bathroom itself was really small with zero ventilation. Not unusual for an older property—though they have recently remodeled there isn’t much you can do about that. But, overall, the room was comfortable for the time we needed it. Here is the one potential issue: They have two elevators that are very small. Three people and three bags were a very tight fit. And when the demand is high (such as in the morning with so many folks leaving to go to their ships), it can take a very long time to use them to get to the lobby. We were fortunate in that we were able to walk down the stairs with our bags. While not ideal, this is likely the best solution for those that can physically do so. Overall, this property offered exactly what we needed and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again prior to another cruise.
The whole guest experience was to a high standard, the concierge was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Would recommend and book again at this hotel.
From the food to the sleeping all excellent.
Excellent hotel in a good location with superb staff and a good restaurant. But they have got to do something about their own review questionaire, its too long and too bossy.
This hotel was a great find to meet up with friends in Southampton. The location is great, very close to the cruise terminals and within walking distance or a short taxi ride to the Marina. The staff at check-in were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to track us down when my husband left his sunglasses in the bar! The room was fairly small, but everything you need is there and we had the bonus view of the cruise ships coming and going which was interesting to watch. Our stay included breakfast which was plentiful and nice and hot. I would definitely stay here again.
If I had to pick something, it would have been nicer to have a bigger bathroom, but this is just being picky.
The front desk staff was amazing!!! I think "Joe" was his name...such a fun happy guy. Booked our taxi and greeted us with such enthusiasm. I would for sure stay here again
Friendly staff
Amazing hotel with very comfortable room and good amenities What let's this hotel down is the restaurant, they run out off food that is most desirable to eat like fish and chips portions are small too and watch out for the 12.5 % service charges added to bill too.
Excellent for car park, and reception staff very friendly and on the ball for attention, the room was fantastic!!! Untill someone entered the room next door, loudly speaking!! As for the resterant , prices are reasonable! Portions small and what is the favourite, sold out!! unfortunately the resterant side of our experience of this hotel let our stay down!!.. id only stay here again for the location
Super staff; we had a lot of luggage and the young man who helped us with it arriving and leaving deserves high praise. Also the restaurant was wonderful.
The location, the quality of the room or even the amenities, all absolutely spot on. But what impressed me the most was the passion and professionalism of Jacob, the Restaurant & Bar Manager. What a phenomenal 2 days at VOCO!
Despite showing that I had prepaid booking.com, the hotel charged my card for the stay
Hotel clean ,beds very comfortable, staff happy and friendly
Nothing
Clean, friendly staff, nice accommodations. The food was amazing. Definitely worth a stay and we look forward to going back next year.
The staff were very friendly and helpful in all areas of the hotel
Close to the cruise ships , shops & dining. Staff at front desk were very friendly & happy people. They took there time to explain the area & what was available . Also excellent bar with professional made drinks!!
Bath room was small. But very clean
Very good location, plenty of parking spaces. Nice restaurant and bar.
HOT breakfast....most items were lukewarm? Dinner the previous evening, we had our table at 7.15pm didn't get our dinner till nearly 8pm. Not enough staff
The room was very spacious with a very comfortable bed. Having a nice restaurant located right in the lobby open until 9:30 PM was super convenient after a long travel day. The hotel's location is extremely close to the cruise terminal, making it the perfect place to stop by before embarking on my cruise. A special shout-out to Karl at the reception desk—he was amazing, welcoming, and super friendly! Thank you!
RUNWAY Bar on 14th floor.
Long walk to Terminal3. Thought it would be much h closer ( like Terminal 2)
Nice Hotel well placed and excellent breakfast
Not a lot not to like
Stayed one night for a pre-cruise stay, and was very pleased with this choice. It is well located for the cruise terminals, but also a short walk to the West Quay shopping centre. Car parking is an extra cost, but there were plenty of spaces available. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, with very smart décor (with a nod to maritime/shipping heritage) and – most importantly – was very clean. The air conditioning was efficient in keeping the room comfortable on a very hot day. The public areas of the hotel were very smart and clean too. We had our evening dinner in the hotel, and also breakfast. The breakfast was excellent. All the staff we met (reception, restaurant/breakfast, cleaner) were very friendly, polite and helpful. There were just two small negatives. - First of all, I had booked a room ‘with a view’, but the view was not particularly special. We were on a high floor and could see the water and docks off to the side, but otherwise there was just a car park directly below - See picture. - Secondly, although the food was very good, the service at the restaurant in the evening was rather slow. (The staff were pleasant, and obviously working hard, but the restaurant was just very busy.) But overall, this was an excellent stay, and I would want to come here again.

Location, modern property in all respects.

Location - good for Southampton. We were visiting family so it was convenient and really well priced against the rest of the hotels I checked in Southampton. Room was excellent, clean and spacious. The shower was incredible. Food. Amazing. Breakfast was the best I have had in the last two years of staying in hotels. Sausages were really high quality, poached eggs as standard breakfast fare. Nothing greasy or covered in oil. Very pleased.
The rooms, beds, food and drink. Relaxing atmosphere and helpful staff.
The lifts. Small, slow and claustrophobic.
The breakfast was excellent!
Conveniently located near the cruise terminal. Quiet family room. Friendly staff. Breakfast was great. Good place to park your car while enjoying a cruise of you book a “cruise and park” package
Convenient location for both our cruise and for local sightseeing. Clean, comfortable room with a great view. Delicious food at the restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff who go above and beyond. Highly recommend!
Great location, close to cruise terminal. Very modern, grand designs and good restaurant.
Pillows were too soft for me.
It was perfect for our cruise and it was a easy five minute walk from west quay. Very clean. Lovely welcoming staff. Lovely room
Nothing it was perfect
We had a great experience at the Voco Southampton, great location, a very pleasant stay before our cruise. Very friendly staff at the reception, we're upgraded to a harbour view room. Clean and spacious room, of course with great view. Walkable to the nearby mall for dinner. Friendly Front desk staff helped us to book a taxi for next morning to Queen Elizabeth cruise terminal. Breakfast was good, relaxing before boarding on our cruise. Highly recommended, I will go back again next year for another cruise trip from Southampton. Thank you.
Nice view and beautiful
None
The location is incredibly convenient, sitting just a short walk from both the city centre high street and the cruise terminal. The hotel’s recent refurbishment looks excellent, featuring modern, stylish décor. We were also pleasantly surprised by our partial port view, and having a safe and mini-fridge in the room was a major plus. A special thank you to Simmi at reception for the warm welcome and seamless check-in experience! On the downside, our standard room was noticeably smaller and more cramped - especially the bathroom - compared to other voco properties we have visited. Additionally, the £20 daily parking fee felt a bit steep.
near cruise terminal in walking distance
Great location
Slow at check in
Exceptional hotel in a great location. Every member of the staff was willing to go the extra mile. Breakfast and dinners were tasty and reasonable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning to go to Southampton for a cruise or just a holidy.
There were no downsides to this hotel. Location, service and amenities were more than satisfactory. Highly recommended!
The location was perfect. The reception staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and quiet with a view of the harbour. The restaurant was lovely and food delightful.
The lifts are quite small and on leaving at check out time, it was quite a wait for one.
Anthony made us sandwiches at 5am since we would be missing breakfast. The gentleman who checked us in and held our luggage until the room became available was extremely nice and accommodating. Thank you for a nice stay
Looks not so good from the outside but the interior is lovely and very well done The staff were exceptional! Lovely warm welcome , polite efficient and friendly restaurant team , gorgeous comfy beds and fab duvet and linen, nice toiletries and tasty food. All excellent. Thank you for making a difference and starting g our hols off in best frame of mind .

Room was perfect and location was just right
Having to pay £20 to park my car there for one night even though we stayed there I think is a bit of a rip off
Professional and very comfortable.

A night’s getaway in Southampton at this beautifully modernised hotel in an iconic 60’s building. The staff are exceptional throughout the building. The room was of a decent size and comfy. Amazing view over dock 8 to see tankers and cruise ships coming and going if that’s your kinda thing (!), luxurious with very comfortable bed, excellent air-con, Smart TV and everything else you would expect in a Voco. We ate dinner and breakfast here. Both excellent and plenty of options. The designer/s of this Voco have done a brilliant job in modernising and evoking the feeling of being on the ocean wave. Tasteful and thoughtful touches are everywhere. This will be our new go-to hotel when we are back in Southampton.
We stayed in this hotel last week pre cruise. We go on a lot of cruises from Southampton and this is our go to hotel on every occasion. Frankly we wouldn’t try anywhere else as in Voco we feel we have it pretty much perfect. On every visit the staff are so friendly and it is great we are getting to know each other now! The rooms are spacious and clean with the most comfortable hotel beds I think we have ever had. Breakfast is always superb set in a large bright dining area. We always feel staying in Voco is a great start to our cruise and is not just a bolt on but has become very much part of our holiday experience. If you want a friendly family feel to your holiday and amazing service with great rooms then don’t look past this great hotel. I have recommended it to friends and colleagues and those who have stayed have thanked me for the recommendation. On our return from our cruise last week we had a long wait until our flight home and didn’t have anywhere to store our cases. We thought we would ask as we were regulars if Voco wouldn’t mind storing them for a few hours. We need not have worried. The front of house staff were more than happy to help us which took a lot of pressure of us and meant we could relax in Southampton for the afternoon. I mention this just to illustrate the typically warm and friendly service from the Voco family in Southampton. They have helped us a lot over the years and we look forward to many more years of having the pleasure of staying in this uniquely friendly hotel with the warm friendly feel. See you all soon for another great stay.
First of all, this hotel is a five minute walk from the Southampton Cruise Terminal - Fantastic! The room was very comfortable with a great view. There was a great restaurant right across the parking lot. Also, this hotel is located within walking distance of a charming area which is full of restaurants, shops and nice places to hangout. Breakfast was amazing. One of the best buffets we've ever experienced. Staff gave us helpful recommendations and were very friendly.

I had a very enjoyable three-night stay at voco Southampton by IHG. The hotel's location is excellent, close to the waterfront and city centre, and the room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly, professional, and always happy to assist, making me feel very welcome throughout my stay.
Overall, my experience was very positive. I have no significant complaints.
We stayed the night before our cruise. The location was perfect, and we really enjoyed being able to walk directly to our ship. Additionally, the restaurant and bar were very nice, and our room was clean and comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Myself and my friend stayed here for one night prior to our cruise. The room was lovely & so spacious with great views. Breakfast was nice and serving staff were very attentive. The best part of this stay for us was Joe. He was very informative & kept us entertained while waiting to be checked in. The day of leaving Joe even took the time out to sit with us while we were waiting for our taxi & kept us entertained. Thank you Joe you made our day x
