Friendly helpful staff and central location.

Looks a bit tired and is in need of some TLC.

Dont be put off by the slightly tired decor. I've paid much more and got less. Accept it for what it is, a really good value family run hotel with good staff. The room was spotless, the windows actually opened and there were nets for privacy, as well as curtains. Tea, coffee, biscuits in room. Bathroom spotless. Good quality WC roll. Nice big TV on the wall. Good big bed with wood frame, nice mattress and painted head and footboards. Amazing historic feel, quirky old cobbled private yard at the back to park in.

Have patience getting to the hotel, it's a town centre location with a few one ways, but the location is great. Couldnt resist a walk out for supper, the sights and smells were lovely, as was my supper.

Curtains didn't block enough light out

Location was convenient location near train, bus, taxi and hire car area, walk to Metro railway. Spa and sauna facilities were great. Dedicated smoking area which was no outside the front of the hotel. Lift/elevator for heavy luggage. Restaurant and dining room were beautifully decorated and breakfast delicious. Room windows opened for fresh air.

Restaurant is overpriced. The food was good, but not worth the money charged so will go to multiple restaurants and bars in the area next time. Breakfast was great and very convenient but expensive, however we learned that if we chose to have Breakfast at check-in you save money. Lighting in the room inadequate.

The location was excellent, it was clean and the facilities good. The history of the building is interesting.

The decor was a little tired in places.

Great customer service, all staff i met were friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and clean, , nice to have coffee and tea facilities.

They take £25 charge when you arrive and tell you till it is until the morning. I stayed Sunday night, it’s now Tuesday and the money has not been returned.

It rated 1 star! The lift was quaint. Location was okay.

The "upgraded" room (it had an air conditioner) was what you might expect from a third world hotel. Pillows were old and stained. The furniture was likely ex-WWII, flimsy and damaged. The carpet old, stained and smelly. The beds saggy and slanted from the foot of the beds down to the head so the floor must have been uneven. There was mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. I took photographs and a short video then we left.

The more senior man on reception was excellent and a credit to the hotel we arrived religiously early and despite booking in time being 2.00pm he hot us a room by 11.30am. The second man was very unhelpful and very rude to is and other customers

Cheap furniture in room. Drawer fronts fell off. No handlebars for safety to get into high tub shower. Shower hand set didn’t work. Duty carpet food stains in room halls eating area. Not even to British people’s standards.

Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen. Der alte Aufzug fuhr nur im Mittelteil des Hotels und man musste sein Gepäck durch enges Treppenhaus zu den Zwischenetagen tragen. Zudem keine Klimatisierten Zimmer, was das schlafen in diesem Sommer unmöglich machte. Auch das Frühstück war nicht gut

Gute Lage im Stadtzentrum.

Das Klo war in der Dusche, Platz sparend aber man kam sich im Zimmer wie in einer Abstellkammer vor. Zimmer sauber aber eng. Das Treppenhaus war schmuddelig, abgelatschte Teppiche, komplizierte Gänge mit unglaublich vielen Türen bis man im Zimmer war. Alles Renovierungsbedürftig !

Eng und rustikal, die Gänge schmuddelig, uralte Teppiche, unser WC hatte ein Fenster ins Treppenhaus was seltsam war, sehr eng auch die Parkplätze. Alles sehr Renovierungsbedürftig!

Room looked a little tired and outdated. Windows had broken catches and were old so it was a bit noisy with the multi storey carpark directly outside.

The bathroom so small and in a awkward place in the corner , wallpaper coming off the wall and it was over priced for that room as stay there loads of time in a bigger rooms think it was no 30 , but no 7 was awful , and I paid half the price when stayed there before for a bigger room but it had had a leak and was in need of repainting but we coped .

We liked checking out.

The whole hotel was dirty smelled and so loud with all the night life. All the windows ledges had fag but on them inside n And out. Beds where awful and uncomfortable 😕 could not wait to leave

We had two rooms both were fantastic great size super comfy beds and pillows also a fan which was great with the heatwave, would definitely recommend and stay again

Ein altes Haus, das aber fußläufig zum Ferry-Terminal zur Isle of Wight liegt. Man läuft ca. 10 Minuten. Positiv: Der kostenlose Parkplatz im Hinterhof, der sehr hilfsbereite Herr an der Rezeption, der Aufzug. Nicht so toll: Das Zimmer: Spartanisch, es roch ... ich weiss nicht nach was... Aber für den günstigen Preis (und für nur eine Nacht) nehme ich das in Kauf.

Nice room and very spacious - location was great as we wanted to visit The Titanic Museum which was only a short walk away. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby and a shopping mall, which was great for the ladies!

lots of stairs and noisy footfall - Car park fee was a surprise and not mentioned during the booking process. It was £25 for the 2 nights and they took a £14 deposit for any damage which was returned via the debit card. I don't think it would have stopped us booking the hotel but it would have been nice to have had some prior knowledge.

The room was a poor quality with no air conditioning and very old windows that did not shut properly and backed on to the car park area. We did not feel safe and could not keep the windows open.

A very small, scruffy, shabby room. Poor quality mattress on the bed, which also creaked at the slightest movement. Furnishings and decor were dated and all looked a bit scruffy. Very old metal window frames, with broken latches. The worst was the "bathroom", I use the term very loosely. It was a shower cubicle with a toilet in it, basically. Which also became a paddling pool when showering, because the drainage wasn't very good, so you're paddling around in a couple of centimetres of water, which covers the whole cubicle including where the toilet is, by the time you've had a quick shower. Breakfast wasn't bad, but nothing special. I didn't find it was good value at £90 for a small single, thought it was a bit pricey considering the standard of the room. I'd be reluctant to stay here again

Carpet is old and worn out. Very low water pressure in shower, could barely rinse off. Housekeeping made the bed, but didn’t leave any towels or empty the trash.

Like the location for all the things we do in Southampton when we visit. Handy for good pubs, football, restaurants and places of historical interest. Nice parking option off street and secure at a reasonable cost

The bed was a wooden assembly that squeaked on every movement. You are virtually next door to a Whetherspoon pub, which is open late and can be quite rowdy at closing time!

Die Lage ist sehr gut, das Personal i.d.R. freundlich. Das Ambiente ist toll, ein altes englisches Hotel eben. Teilweise schon historisch.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer im obersten Stockwerk, wo es am heißesten war (30°C Außentemperatur), das Zimmer hat sich tagsüber sehr aufgeheizt. Eine Klimaanlage ist nicht vorhanden, nur ein Standventilator. Insgesamt ist das Hotel hier und da renovierungsbedürftig.

We were excited to get an upgrade, so the upgraded room was no 65 the window looked right onto brick wall and only 1 socket,the other socket in the shelving unit would not fit plug so nowhere to dry your hair and boiling kettle was done on floor using the only socket also mirror too far away.I wonder what my room would have been like if I refused upgrade.I dread to 🤔

La ubicación del hotel. Debíamos tomar un barco a la mañana siguiente y el puerto estaba muy cerca. Aunque hay diferentes terminales y para acceder a otros cruceros es necesario coger transporte.

Si viajas con equipaje pesado, atención!!!!!! porque hay que subir y bajar muchos escalones para acceder a las habitaciones. El ascensor llegar a ciertas plantas (a todas no) y después de llegar a la planta de la habitación, hay que tomar las escaleras. Mi maleta pesaba 26 kg!!!!

The two members of staff when we booked in and out. Both helpful and pleasant. We did make our disappointment of the room known when we booked out. The size of room good, although noisy, beds comfortable. But both staff should be recognised as representing the hotel excellently.

The fact we never received an acknowledgement of the problems we encountered via a call or email. We reported problems at check out, we followed up by email same day reiterating what we had said at check out and another one later in the week. Problems bad lighting, in main room inadequate, made using the mirror impossible, the lighted mirror in bathroom near to useless, a strange mirror far too dark to be of use, no hot water tap on the bathroom sink, cold tap hardly any water flow, the shower had no water pressure and had two temperatures very cold or scolding hot. Inadequate fan, it had no real oomph to it, a better quality fan very much needed that actually cooled the room, the fan for size of room was not enough, we slept on top of the beds. Also no hairdryer in room as expected on list, would have to go to reception to get one. Given all our problems, just an acknowledgement of the verbal complaint and subsequent emails would of been welcomed from management.

Central location in historic old town.

This property has not been maintained and is in poor shape. Warn carpet, peeling paint, no air conditioning, double-hunge bathroom window not operable, main room's window could be opened for ventilation but there was loads of chipping paint around the window and frame. Saturday night meant lots of partiers in the street below, not hotel's fault for that, but an AC unit would have been nice rather than 85° F temp in our room at 2 AM. The room size was generous, pulloes stiff,, furniture would not have passed inspection at a thrift shop, small flat screen television with intermittent reception issues. Breakfast was unappealing with dried out meats and shriveled roasted tomatoes; however, the toast, canned beans, and fried eggs were good.

Dirty, Carpet stained (a lot), you felt every spring on the beds, paint peeling both inside and outside, wall paper peeling, NO A/C hotter in our room than outside! You can’t leave the windows open because you are in a prime party location and people drink and smoke right outside and it travels in to your room. And it wasn’t just cigarettes they were smoking. The remote control for the TV was broken, the toilet paper holder was broken, basically normal maintenance was not being done nor extra maintenance because it’s a historical building. I travel for a living and love to stay in old historic buildings, this site likes to use “it’s old” as an excuse for basic upkeep.

Only the reception was okay.
