Ideally cation for us as we travel back home to Orkney from Aberdeen. Lovely clean rooms and restaurant, food is great and the staff are very helpful.

The hotel offers excellent value for money. Breakfast was included in the room rate and served buffet-style with a wide range of options. The room was spacious and very clean, and having on-site parking was a great bonus.

Hotel room was comfortable, clean and I guess recently refurbed.

Parking - I don’t believe residents should be charged.

We stayed in a family room with 2DBL beds in a room and it was very spacious. Hence when we visit Aberdeen we make sure that we stay in this hotel.

Ground floor room, we are not a fan

Breakfast was good and the room was spacious. The food in the restaurant was very good. Convenient parking and a good base for further exploration.

It is located in an industrial area.

Parking immense donc aucun souci pour se garer, 3£ la nuit ça reste raisonnable. Chambre immense avec rangements, propre. Accès piscine et salle de sport. Le côté bar est certes un peu cher mais cuisine excellente. Personnel à l'écoute.

I have stayed here several times before

I found Booking.com description of room misleading as it quoted bath, shower and did not clearly state that shower was over bath. Having just had hip surgery recently i could not access the shower. The quality of the breakfast was poor and paid £272 for 2 nights bed and breakfast in a specified grpund floor room I felt it was not up to 4 star standard abd overpriced.

The ease of checking was great. The lovely lady at front desk was very helpful. The room was perfect for our 1 night stop over

Pity there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Rooms were clean

Breakfast was ok. One of the mornings there was no white bread or semi skimmed/skimmed milk available. If not booking direct you need to pay £3 a night for parking. Was not advised that breakfast is on till different times if staying at the weekend and during the week do almost missed breakfast on our second morning.

Sour milk. 300 guests, Sunday morning breakfast starts at 8. At 8.30 the milk was Sour, I asked for fresh milk, they returned with the Sour milk and put it back out advising it was all the had, but had sent someone to the corner shop to buy some. 300 guests. How many children became sick having had Sour milk with their cereal?

Issue with hand rail in shower informed reception as soon as noticed but wasn’t fixed during our stay. Had an issue with dinner, informed server and didn't seem surprised. Breakfast a bit cold.

Such good value for money. Room was huge, leisure facilities were great and breakfast was tasty. Staff all super friendly and helpful.

Das ganze Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen. Badezimmer eine Katastrophe. Das Restaurant war eine Bahnhofshalle, das Schwimmbad ein Witz. Das Frühstück leider ungenügend. Einige vom Personal waren bemüht. Ich verstehe keine einzige positive Bewertung hier.

The staff were professional, polite, and attentive. From reception to cleaning staff, they were amazing. The rooms are reasonably sized and the bed was very comfortable. All areas of the hotel were clean and presentable. The food from the evening meal was delicious and well presented.

Entering the room, I was greeted with a “funky” indescribable smell that made me first wonder whether there was a dead body hidden. I can confirm after inspection and checking the closets etc., this was not the case. The rooms seemingly have one hear setting off 24°, and with a single window with restricted p opening to 3cm, this made for a rather uncomfortable and sticky night. The bathroom, like the room, seems to be from the 1920’s and has not been updated since, complete with sticky shower curtains that attack you whilst in the shower and toilet roll placement that is positioned to be just out of reach for most normal people. The breakfast was most disappointing, with a self service style operation, which I am not a fan of. The breakfast has a lot of options but the cooked breakfast was like warm, even though I was there are 8:40am. The scrambled eggs rested in an egg soup which you needed to fish for the eggs, the bacon was mainly undercooked and the black pudding was also undercooked. You have options for coffee or teas or juice. Unfortunately, the coffee was percolated, which was disappointing given that I know they had the bean to cup coffee machine in the bar.

Restaurantpersoneel was niet altijd even opmerkzaam en duurt soms lang als het rustig is voordat iemand naar je toe komt. Ook met de hand opsteken of als je extra om aandacht vraagt.

Didnt know about the exes charge for the room

Tolle Lage und ein super Frühstück. Ausreichend Parkplätze (wieso diese extra kosten weiß ich allerdings nicht). Super Duft am Empfang (Den hätte ich auch gerne)

Wir waren schon einmal hier da gab es keine Klobürste, 7 Jahre später gibt es noch immer keine. Die Sauberkeit auf den Zimmern könnte besser sein. In der Toilette war Urin und Kot drin als wir ankamen, Waschbecken und Badewanne voll mit Haaren. Auch im Bett waren lange schwarze Haare zu finden.

Every thing helpful staff great breakfast and spar was great and being an early riser, 7am and the sauna had a great temp, iv been staying at ardoe for the past few years and this year was a change that I'll be sticking to from now on 😁

We were refused entrance to breakfast for wearing hi viz clothes. This was only explained to me when we turned up for breakfast although it was on the welcome letter we were given after check in, after payment made and after the reception lady did not inform me of this - very disrespectful and made me feel very discriminated against for being a manual worker.

Unfortunately the issue was no heating in hotel. Room very cold. Turned heating dial to full and blowing cold air. Called reception to be told general manager had heating set to off on all hotel. I said this should have been disclosed at time of booking or on website to inform before reservation. Raised complaint. Fortunetly this was dealt with and after meeting with night manager to arrange portable heater and she gave us complimentary breakfast vochures. Later on she spoke with us to say after she raised my complaint, to the general manager, he then agreed to turn heating on . This was a good outcome but this did cause a bit of a downside to my birthday weekend away. Rest of our stay was perfect.

That I paid parking after my 2 night stay using the ticket given paid when leaving hotel and still got fine in post. When I looked I’d only paid 1 nite but I can’t understand why only 1 days parking was taken when I scanned ticket. Quiet annoying

We checked in and had two separate bookings as we had to stay an extra day last minute. The bookings were put together - but we weren’t told that our card stopped working and we had to go back to reception and check in again and pay another deposit - after a long day that was a pain! We also had asked for our room to only be cleaned on the second day - nope - so back down to reception again to get fresh towels and tea and coffee refills! Once back on the room we realised we were about to run out of toiler roll - couldn’t be bothered to run down to reception for a third time so used tissues!

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Decent sized room with tea & coffee, tv (free view channels) and even an iron and ironing board. The restaurant has a varied menu with fair portion sizes and reasonable pricing. The self service breakfast offers: a full english/scottish cooked breakfast, a selection of cereals, various pastries, fresh pancakes, various fruit juices and tea/coffee. The room price also includes the use of the onsite pool, sauna, steam room and gymnasium.

Nothing - overall it was a very pleasant experience.

Liked everything. Breakfasts all we could wish for. Room very clean and convenient (on ground floor). Enjoyed the pool - quiet when I was there. Evening meals were tasty (perhaps new chef since our previous time last November?) It was good to meet staff that recognised us from previous visits.

My wife has osteoporosis so found the mattress a little uncomfortable, but I slept very well.

First time staying at the Altens (family of 4). We had a great stay. The family room was very spacious and cot bed as requested was set up. We didn't realise we would have to book for the swimming pool so we only got a short dip after arriving as we wanted to have an earlyish tea for the kids but we managed to get booked for Sunday morning too before breakfast. Evening meal was lovely in the restaurant, staff very friendly. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Will definitely stay again.

The furniture was a little worn and could do with maintenance or upgrading. I was surprised that there wasn’t a bar fridge in the room.

Breakfast poor and nearly cold. Paying for parking as guest is poor and overly complicated having to check in then get a voucher to go back and pay. Seems to have gone downhill a bit.

The reason we booked this hotel was for the pool, however the pool is only subject to booking. It seems only a limited number of people are allowed at a time. With the pool being booked even in the early morning also. Breakfast hall was very loud and chaotic! Hotel is located in an industrial area.

Buffett breakfast was lovely. Family room was really big.

We booked the hotel as it had a pool and we wanted to get several hours swim time for our kids on the afternoon of arriving and again in the morning before we left. Upon checking in at 3pm we were advised that you need to book a slot to go to the pool. The first slot available was at 6pm with the pool closing at 7.30pm for kids. The following morning, the only time available was between 7-8am. We found this incredibly disappointing and a really frustrating way of managing the pool given we found out that due to loads of no show on the bookings, we could have enjoyed so much more time in the pool. The other issue we had was with the noise. Unfortunately for us, our room was sandwiched between another families couple of rooms and the kids spent their time running up and down the hall between the rooms, slamming doors every few minutes and generally just being loud. We get it, we have kids too, but by 10.30pm, it was hindering our ability to sleep so I had to go out and ask them to respectfully stop running, slamming doors and keep the volume down. Whilst the noise itself was not the fault of the hotel, we were surprised at the lack of soundproofing. The final issues we had was our booking on here at booking.com said £5 per child for breakfast but we were charged £6 per child and when we raised this with reception they said there was nothing they could do and to contact booking.com. We felt that £2 could have been handled at a hotel level and not referred onto booking.com as something we had to follow up.

From the moment you enter the hotel is spotless, staff at reception are warm and friendly. The room was very spacious and clean, bathroom was nice and clean The breakfast was nice and dinner was gorgeous my fillet stake was done to perfection. The gym was really decent for a hotel gym, The pool area was clean

The only issue we had was the pillows weren’t the comfiest, one wasn’t enough and two was to much. Think some pillows need to be slightly firmer, again this is just preference but my husband had a sore neck each morning.

Breakfast was very disappointing. Reception staff was rude and unwelcoming. We had to pay a damage charge which felt insulting.

Camera grande e spaziosa. Il letto king size è stata una bella sorpresa. Ambienti puliti. Possibilità di utilizzare la piscina gratuitamente, previa prenotazione (per gli spazi un po' ridotti).

Parcheggio a pagamento anche per i clienti (specificato nella prenotazione), comunque comodo e di facile accesso.

The bed in our room 330 seemed small compared to other times we've stayed. Also the lockers for the swimming pool were an absolute pain and seemed complicated to lock. The young attendant had to come in and sort them for myself and otgers who were also in the changibg room.

4th time here and really like the place. Good location.

There was water running down from the roof. Room was damp and smelled. When brought up we were quickly moved rooms. But the damp was obviously a long term problem. Was told it was someone up stairs had over run a bath. Pictures tell otherwise
