Long wait for drinks in the bar. Being charged for service in bar but says nothing on the drinks list. Very long wait for dinner after ordering and three couples that came in after us being served before us. Kept awake until almost 1 o’clock in the morning because a wedding was on and everyone was gathering outside which we could hear, the noise was so loud.

Very nicely appointed room and extremely comfortable. Whilst it might not have been walking distance into town, there was a bus right outside the door so I found the property to be conveniently located without having a car

several american male golfing groups, dominating the ambience of our hotel breakfast with just a minority of the groups undertaking very loud discussions not of their golf but largely of the night before activities, costs and performances of local prostitutes etc etc etc. needs some male staff member of authority to request they consider waiting till they are on their golfing buses for such banter.

I hate all the stairs and the maze of corridors. I also hated the shower. Standing in a narrow very slippery bathtub was not acceptable.

Not what I'd expect from a hotel of this rating and cost, the room had multiple issues I would not expect when paying this kind of money, mouldy grout in the shower, tear in the headboard, light fitting hanging odd in the bathroom. All appliances past their PAT Testing dates, delayed automatic lighting at the bottom of stairs.

The food was absolutely fantastic. We were so looking forward to trying the new menu! It was exceptional. Jatin was commendable in his efforts of explaining the menu and very much joined in with our volumous fun. Forgive me, I don't think that's a word haha. Beautiful food and even better service. 5 stars.

We recently celebrated my 40th birthday in the Granite Balcony function room at the Chester Hotel, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, everything was fantastic. The function room was beautiful, the food was absolutely delicious, and the whole event ran seamlessly. Our guests all commented on how much they enjoyed the meal and the venue. What truly made the evening exceptional, however, was the outstanding service we received from Jatin. He went above and beyond throughout the entire event. He was incredibly attentive, always one step ahead, and seemed to know exactly when guests needed another drink without anyone having to ask. He made sure everyone was looked after, including the children, and ensured the meals were served promptly and without any delays. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him, and his professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail made such a difference to the atmosphere of the evening. I’ve attended many events over the years, but the level of service Jatin provided genuinely stands out as some of the best I’ve ever experienced. A huge thank you to Jatin and all the team at the Chester Hotel for making my 40th birthday so memorable. I would highly recommend the Chester Hotel to anyone looking for a fantastic venue with excellent food and truly exceptional service. For me, it was a 10/10 experience, and Jatin was a huge part of what made it so special.

On a constructive basis, I’d suggest changing the striped hallway carpeting as it makes it extremely difficult to see the stairs and therefore is a trip/fall hazard. The rooms are located in a warren of corridors with steps up and down, and very easy to get lost. I’d recommend better signage to make it much clearer on directions back to reception and restaurant/bar area. We got lost several times during our stay. Not withstanding these comments, the hotel is very nice and would definitely recommend 👍

Lovely hotel, staff on reception were incredible

The location, cleanliness and ambience were good. A beautiful hotel. The chef and waiting staff were excellent. Best poached eggs ever. Reception manager, Nosh, was curt and stiff and rather standoffish. The other receptionist that showed us to our room was super friendly and efficient and informative. Customer service manager listened but denied all knowledge of the noise of running water and footsteps coming down from the rooms avove; all the noises from above like toilet flushing, bath filling, showering etc just reverberated around our room - room 67. I did not believe her claim that no-one else had made them aware of this problem. Unless the room has never been let out before. It is clearly not a one off problem, it is a badly designed new build....no noise insulation installed. To be fair, the customer service manager did offer to try to make things more comfortable if we had been staying a second night...but we were only staying one night for a funeral. It was the dead pan face and bare face lies I did not appreciate. I just did not believe that other guests have not complained about the noise. It's an expensive hotel. I expected a good night's sleep in a quiet room.

Throughout our time in our room, number 67, every time any guests in upstairs rooms used their bathroom facilities we could hear all the flowing water echoing around our room. It flowed down pipework near our door but also echoed from the ceiling, as did footsteps. I described it to the customer service manager and provided a recording for her to listen to.

We went to the Chester Hotel to celebrate my sons graduation and it was fabulous. The decor is lovely and the food and service was outstanding. A card and complementary chocolates for my son to say well done was a really nice touch. I would highly recommend this hotel for your special celebration

Another great stay at The Chester. The reception staff were so helpful. The rooms were spotless. We were there for my daughter’s graduation and so many lovely touches- congratulations card on table at dinner, chocolates for her. Thoroughly recommend the Chester for business, family trip, couples. We have stayed in a range of rooms and suites. Also recommended the 5 Bed House for larger parties

We often stay at The Chester when in Aberdeen as easy to access, good parking available and bus or taxi into town centre. Hotel always welcoming, friendly staff and excellent breakfast. On a warm evening, a lovely outdoor area to sit & relax.

Reception. It’s an office and they can’t tell when a guest just wants to arrive and swiftly check in, no fuss and no faff. I had someone trying to make endless small talk which in another day would be fine, but I had a meeting to join and was tight on time. They then got offended and surly when I asked to speed up the process. I was polite and apologetic but even so they made me uncomfortable after I asked.

My husband and I came here for a meal and a few drinks after being given a gift voucher as a wedding present. We had a really nice evening overall. The waiter who looked after us was lovely and very attentive. He was great at recommending things and definitely knew how to upsell without being pushy! The food was nice, but personally I did feel it was quite expensive. There was nothing wrong with it at all but I left feeling that the prices were a bit on the high side compared to the overall experience. One thing that caught us out was the service charge. We left a £30 tip because we were happy with the service, but only realised after we'd left and looked at the receipt that a fairly large service charge had already been added to the bill. That's on us for not checking properly, but it's something for others to be aware of. Would I come back? Yes, but if I'm being honest it would most likely be if we had another gift voucher or were celebrating something special. We did enjoy ourselves, but it wouldn't be somewhere I'd rush back to at those prices. Overall, a lovely evening with great service!

We booked the private room for our wedding reception and Jatin was amazing. He was so attentive and made sure we were well looked after all night. Could not recommend any more!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, our family room was very large with lots of space for us all and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast in the morning had a good variety and was very tasty. It was also handy to have the on site parking available.

Due to it being pre existing buildings which have been knocked together to form the hotel across multiple houses, there are often stairs between areas, or different levels for the floors which we found a little more difficult to navigate with young children, and could also be a problem if you had any mobility issues.

No faults at all - I had a party of 8 people across 4 rooms and everyone thought he service and quality was first class - will be back.

Absolutely perfect service, Jatin was attentive, funny, charming everything you’d want from a server, even after our food wasn’t cooked as expected he was overly accommodating and he made our evening so enjoyable, cocktails and food were still great!

The nature of old houses, the hotel had a two or three up and down stairs between the different regions of the hotel but never many and we managed fine despite having some mobility issues.

Great location on a broad road outside the City centre. Easy to find and access the city. Onsite parking. Good breakfast and evening meal. Outside area for a drink in the sunshine. Comfortable bed. We stayed at the beginning and end of a trip to Shetland and would stay again.

Absolutely amazing in every sense of the word, we booked to stay for a function happing in the hotel, when we arrived we had been upgraded to the stunning Mackenzie suite, just wow it was stunning, staff were absolutely fantastic and so helpful. I will definitely be back 🤩 thank you ☺️

Lots of parking, breakfast was DELICIOUS and the bed was very comfy. The room was large and had plenty space. The curtains were thick and kept the room dark

The Aircon was loud outside the room so if you open the window, the thick droning whur is all you can hear. We got a card from the team which said "congrations" and ran out of room for the team name. It's also quite confusing trying to find your way around

The food overall was very good. The room was perfect.

We felt the menu would have benefitted from some choices that suited older people, for example options that included mash potato. The lingoustine that we ordered did not appear to be lingoustine and we expected it to be in a tempura batter however it seemed to be a type of scampi in hard ruskoline. This was disappointing.
