Location
There are no leisure facilities.
Breakfast choice was good. Staff were very friendly. Room very clean
Thought £10 for glass of wine expensive. Hotel looking bit tired. Bed was to soft. Ordered soup was tastie but not hot 🙈
Location Grounds
It was very noisy. Music until early hours of morning, i understand there was a wedding .
Bons repas, grandes chambres, décor luxueux
Breakfast was shambolic on first day with order taken and had to be chased up to deliver. It is clear that when weddings and events are held there is not enough staff. The second day was better but you better get down early to get croissant as we were told that there was none but two small pastries were provided but not our choice. Suppose we should be thankful for them. All in all breakfast was disappointing. Having stayed at McDonald’s hotels previously it is clear that standards are slipping badly.
Breakfast The room was OK but the bathroom door could not be secured from the outside and we ended up jamming it with a magazine. The speaker connected to the TV in the bathroom was LOUD and could not be controlled. The WC was another challenge as the flush handle needed to be operated like an old water pump to get a decent flush.
The gardens, a few of the staff and leaving the hotel
Old worn furniture, not very clean, breakfast buffet in the hall !!!!, dinner bad quality, too many people packed into small areas, cluttered, stale air etc etc
Posto e palazzo magnifici. Camera molto grande. Bagno bello
Lovely staff, beautiful setting and lovely communal areas - dining room, bar etc.
The room had no sound proofing - we heard every moment of next door’s bath and we were woken repeatedly through the night. The room had very tired decor - seemed to have been last updated in the 1990s. The en-suite door didn’t close and there was cracked grouting around the bath. The shower pressure was terrible and it took ages for the water to heat- the worst shower I’ve had in 30 years. We slept really badly and came home exhausted.
Piękny hotel, wystrój. Miły personel, pomocny. Duzo miejsc do siedzenia i podziwiania piękna hotelu.
A o lodówkę baaardzo prosimy, bo chętnie wrócimy
Beautiful hotel, clean, comfortable bed and helpful staff. The breakfast was outstanding.
Bed, food and the character of the hotel.
Large bedroom with Sofa and a good bathroom with walk in shower. The entrance and dining room are like walking into a stately home.
Water pressure was low and Internet in room kept dropping out.
Room was lovely and spacious with a lovely ensuite
Breakfast was good quality but what was meanto be hot food was cold
Super staff, will certainly stay again. Thx
Would have liked better view....trees close to window.
Instalaciones (individuales y comunes). Desayuno. Hay comida/bebida durante todo el día
Nada
Beautiful building and grounds Spacious rooms Nicely furnished Beautiful library and bar area The staff were very friendly and professional Great place to stay with our dog
Nothing
Good location and breakfast
Bed was old and uncomfortable. Room service dinner was awful - the portion size was far too small, the rice was full of cloves, and the price for it was ridiculous.
The Welcome and efficiency of the reception staff member. The quality of the room. The doggy treats. The grounds and parking facilities. The historic listed decor in the dining room, bar, and entrance areas.
We felt a bit invisible at breakfast and had to look for a staff member to take our order. I asked for French toast with cinnamon and maple syrup, but no bacon. Sadly, I could taste neither cinnamon nor maple syrup. Disappointed! Not sure why natural yoghurt has to be fat-free or reduced-fat, as this only serves to increase the sugar content. Just serve Greek or other natural yoghurt; I promise it won't harm people the way that sugar can.

Historic buildings.wonderful staff
Nice location
Some areas looking tired and well used for an expensive hotel.
Am a returning customer. I like the location and had faith with the company
On this occasion the room was very poor, breakfast a shambles and the overall level of experience was very poor. When I commented to the receptionist that I felt let down, she said they were full. Don’t take the business if you can’t cope!
We really enjoyed our recent stay at Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, with attractive décor and plenty of character, and our room was particularly spacious, comfortable and very well appointed. The room had everything we needed, including a large-screen TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, a safe, iron and ironing board. The bathroom was also excellent, with a powerful shower as well as a full-size bath. I also liked how solid and secure the room door felt, with a proper additional safety lock. The food was very good throughout our stay. I opted for the full Scottish breakfast on two consecutive mornings and thoroughly enjoyed it both times — tasty, well cooked and a great start to the day. There is ample parking within the hotel grounds, which was particularly useful for us, and the location makes Norwood Hall an excellent base for exploring Aberdeen, Royal Deeside and the many castles and attractions across the north-east of Scotland.
Nothing really. Pity our stay wasn't longer.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of outdoor space to walk dogs. Great breakfast.
Nothing.
Jhdt versetzt, alles sehr authentisch.
Schade.

NOTHING
The staff were lovely.
Just a bit tatty. Bulb in lamp in room not working; shower a bit grubby looking; chaotic breakfast despite staff best efforts - seemed like systems lacking. Damp smell in corridor.
All was good
All was good
Pleasent stay as alway however, hotel seems short on staff.
Waited a long time to order the evening meal, had to go to the lady on reception to intervene and get someone to take my order. Food eventually arrived but was soggy! (Fish & Chips)
Fabulous hotel, room size was excellent, very well equipped. Very comfortable
The layout of the hotel made navigation to our room very complicated and confusing, having to go up in a lift to a level above, then walk the length of a corridor to another lift to go back down to a lower floor to get to the floor where are room was located!!! Then all in reverse again to get back out. Very confusing, more signage would have been useful. For a hotel of this standard, the breakfast was poor, very limited selection of fruit, bread and pastries, no Greek or flavoured yoghurt, only lowfat natural.. Even the hot menu was unsatisfactory, guests being required to pay an additional cost for other options which were different to a standard cooked breakfast, most unsatisfactory. I am amazed to say that I have had breakfast with considerably more choice and of a higher quality and standard at 2 star hotels and Premier inns and without incurring any additional charges. On checkout there had been bottles of wine bolled to our room, when he hadn't been in the restaurant or bar. Obviously this was resolved, but should not have happened. Amazingly we were not provided with any bottled water in our room or biscuits on the Tea tray. All these little extras would make a difference to a guests stay
Good location fairly central
Overall looks a little "tired"
It was a wonderful experience. The hotel was so beautiful. Staff were awesome. 10/10
Great location, beautiful old building, a little tired but it goes with the ambiance
Breakfast buffet had run out by 9am but cooked breakfast was good. I was fine but my colleagues struggled with the Wifi
I booked this through booking.com - deluxe double with breakfast. Rommy was spacious and comfortable and well presented. The breakfast was good and I ate in the restaurant on one evening and enjoyed the Haggis Starter (amazing!!) and a steak. Service and staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a beautiful setting. 15 taxi ride to the city centre. Hotel booked taxi’s fare cheaper than Uber. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for traditional Scottish 🏴 hotel in lively grounds.
Small cups in room - Scottish hotel but no shortbread biscuit in room -
Whole character of the hotel. We loved the old fashioned decoration. The breakfast was very nice.
Slight noise from the heating plant at the back of our room during the night.
We have stayed here several times whilst visiting family in Aberdeen. It's a lovely place to stay, convenient for the city and also the surrounding area This visit we happened to mention it was our wedding anniversary the next day, then on that day and they presented us with complementary glasses of wine with our meal. A very thoughtful and touching gesture The room we had was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Staff are friendly while being efficient We will be back
Nothing
Very big room, comfy bed, good breakfast.
Room has limited UK sockets.
Location and bedroom
Severely understaffed in the evening
Liked the beautiful building and surrounding grounds. Its history dates back to 12th century apparently. Very relaxing. Big rooms. Nice views. Breakfast in bed. Room service .spot on. Staff very helpful throughout. Parking free and ample. Facilities were excellent.
We understand its very old building. But it would have preferred mixer taps on sink at least.. very difficult to have a nice wash when cold tap only can be used. Hot water tap absolutely scorching hot water. Also could be helpful to have a fridge in the room.
Rustig hotel, gezellige ambiance (oud) Restaurant goed
Lovely location on the outskirts of Aberdeen - dog friendly
Location excellent
Very good - but some upgrading required
Camera molto grande.
Really enjoyed the quaintness and charm of an older hotel.
Location was ideal for our requirements.
Our room was dark an tired.
Aspetto generale, antica dimora
Aspetto stanco e trasandato, colazione con scelta limitata
The hotel is gorgeous, the lounges are free to use and made you feel like you were living in a Manor House for your stay. The dinner and breakfast were outstanding and the staff was very helpful. Room was spacious, stylish and clean, bed was comfy.
Realised on my way out they had EV chargers, would’ve been good to know before hand so I could’ve charged overnight. Perhaps the staff at reception can ask the guests if they need it, or change their signage.
Breakfast was very nice! Good room.
Kettle could have been cleaner
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was lovely and very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was cooked to order and was fresh and delicious. Nothing negative to say at all, a lovely stay and I would definitely stay again.
Nothing.
Location
Location
Bit dark in dining room
The quiet remote location, apart from that was overpriced for the level of service and quality of the hotel
Stood at reception for ages before somebody came I felt the staff was rude nobody wanted to help you I asked for food I got past back n forth till I said it doesn’t matter and then breakfast was served in the hallway and any tea coffee and toast came at a very long wait was abit of a sh**t show
Lovely old style hotel with great grounds and location. Very nice breakfast!
A bit disappointed with the vegetarian meal_ risotto, - we had in the lounge bar.
Beautiful hotel with classic interieur and a great garden
The room can get a bit warm
Interior is old country style decor in idyllic surroundings which makes for a pleasant experience. Plenty of free parking on site. Room was clean & spacious. Location was ideal for attending university graduation ceremony.
Breakfast had a limited menu
Everything
Nothing
The staff are friendly and welcoming and the setting is really nice.
As a returning visitor I felt that the alleged ‘upgrade’ was a less pleasant room than the previous one. Also, whilst pleasant, the breakfast was less than plentiful. Certainly not good value had you bought it separately from the room booking.
The location is second to none… wow Breakfast and restaurant staff was amazing.
Pretty much everything else. Where to start…… male receptionist but was about as helpful as an ashtray on a motorcycle. 1st room was dirty, mould growing around window seals and the noise coming from kitchen was horrific. Moved room, slightly cleaner as in no mould… bed, wow… worst sleep I think I’ve ever had. Can’t remember the last time that I slept in a bed with springs. Felt every single one and was catapulted across the room every time my other half moved. People walking up and down the hallway most of night activating the lights Radiator in bathroom so badly needing a clean that it stained the towels which were very clean. Shower was a trickle at best, dust everywhere in the rest of the room. Could t get out quick enough after breakfast. Was out of the hotel before 0800. It was that dire. Stayed here years ago and couldn’t believe how run down and smelly the hotel had become.
Staff were accommodating , helpful and friendly
Nothing
Great location, very comfortable rooms.Delicious breakfast and the staff really helpful and nice🌺
Lovely spacious room, very comfortable and large bed
We didn’t have dinner as we were visiting to attend a family christening, however we weren’t overly impressed with the breakfast. We found the coffee cold despite asking for a second coffee to be warmer and also the bacon and sausages were overcooked both mornings No complaints about the staff who were lovely and we only wanted to bring these points to notice so you can improve
We loved it. Beautiful grounds, spacious room (we had Deluxe), comfortable beds. Breakfast was delicious and well served. Very pleasant experience
Excellent large quiet room with a big shower. Bed was I think a superking size and really comfy. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Plenty of free parking on site.
I love this hotel. I usually travel with other people but I stay at this hotel on my own. The hotel has a lovely calm and chilled feeling about it. I spent the evenings sitting in the bar, they play some pleasant low volume background music which is unobtrusive. On both occasions I’ve stayed now people talk quietly together in the bar even if they are in a larger group, which makes a pleasant change. The rooms ( love the bath and separate shower) and grounds are beautiful, excellent parking and good choice at breakfast.
Nothing!
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good.
The staff were not very good in passing even the basic information. I advised that I was not going to have breakfast as I had to leave the hotel before breakfast commenced at 0700hrs, but the receptionist did not advise me that I could get room service breakfast from 0600hrs. I only found the order form late in the evening - it was in a drawer and not hooked onto the room door. The route signage (especially to reception) was poor. The operation of the lift was not made clear. The room was tired, but seats were comfortable. The windows were difficult to operate - as the room was hot and it was hard to get fresh air in. The bed 'throw' was stained. There was no bottled water provided with the room. Tea and coffee facilities were very poor.
Sehr schönes traditionelles Haus
The room was comfortable and clean. The decor of the hotel is beautiful. The bathroom was well decorated and clean and the rooms are a good size.
It is advertised as having 7 acres of grounds but these are not walkable, it actually has very limited outdoor space. I was considering a wedding here but for multiple reasons I won't be having it here now. I asked specifically for a quiet room away from other guests due to having chemotherapy at the hospital and needing somewhere peaceful. I was placed next door to people who were noisy, shouting, banging doors. This room is also 2 lifts away from reception rather than being close by. I asked to be moved and was told no other rooms available but the hotel was not full. I asked for some oat milk for my room as I am breastfeeding a baby with a milk allergy. I was told I had to wait until breakfast and they couldn't access the oat milk until then. And then finally this morning at breakfast, two other tables came in after me and were served before me. The breakfast came and was missing a sausage. And the continental breakfast was pretty much empty. No juice, no pastries, the fruit was not fresh (tasted like vinegar) and basically everything was not filled up. Extremely disappointed. Not what I expected from a supposed 4 star hotel at all. Another minor issue - there are no plug sockets by the bed. Where the lamp plugs in you'd think you could use that, no the top pin is rounded so is not usable.
Room was nice but just paid £6.99 for a can of diet coke with my £27.00 chicken curry which was average to be honest! Won't be eating here again but room decent enough and spacious.
Nettes Personal, sehr zuvorkommend
Ausstattung sehr viktoranisch, Bad sehr alt
Room was excellent
It was a nice hotel in a good situation staff were good beer price bit much but that's the only fault.
Beer price
The hotel’s front rooms are full of character.
The restaurant is either understaffed or the staff need more training. They all seemed very stressed.
Good location near to the wedding we were attending at another local hotel.
The receptionist was rude and not just to us but to anyone who appeared at the desk, especially so to the courier who came by as we were checking in.
Room big comfortable luxurious excellent shower helpful staff
No biscuits with tea/ coffee usually expect something! Cooked Breakfast v small I had eggs tomatoes and black pudding and kit one v small poached egg half a tomato and small slice pudding. Looked rather pathetic!
Stanze grandi
Colazione è tardato troppo per arrivare.
The surrounding park looked very nice and maintained. The hotel has a very traditional flair and the breakfast was very good.
The elevators are a little bit hidden, like in a maze.
Beautifully presented
Nothing
all fairly good for a two night stay.
The evening meal menu is uninteresting and not seasonal. Poor selection of meals available and a wee bit over priced.
I liked the room nice and big, spacious and bed was comfy, the grounds where lovely
Some of the staff where unhappy looking and came across unfriendly, I found it a bit dull and dark I know it had an eerie old feel about it, which is all part of the experience I suppose, We had breakfast 2 mornings and they always ran out of something ie...orange juice, plates, croissants and lots of other things, We had to keep asking for things, you had to pay a supplement for another choice on the breakfast menu which was a first, for example if I ordered a Eggs Royal it was an extra £5.50 for that so I dont think this should be extra.
Gorgeous period property in lovely part of Aberdeen. Comfortable large rooms
Would have been good to have water in the rooms especially in the heat this summer
Everything awesome place
Nothing
Good food in general. Big clean room. Great location and surroundings.
Abysmal breakfast service on second morning. Awful rickety chairs in restaurant. One broke while a lady was sitting on it. It was immediately reported to the staff who did nothing to remove it. Safety should come first. Overall very dated. No bottled water with room.
Beautiful grounds ,good breakfast, nice rooms
Bar a bit pricey
Perfect for a large family group
No air conditioning
