Kein eigenes Restaurant, nur ein dazu gehörendes Kaffee, welches jedoch für’s Frühstück geöffnet war.

In a great location near a lot of stores and dinning options. The bed was super comfortable Staff were really friendly

The room was great. Heating/cooling worked well. Having an opening window for fresh air was a big asset.

We were not out of our room until 11:30am one day, found the housekeeping staff and ask for them to service our room. They said yes, but it did not get done. Could have been a language/communication issue. Later in the day, when we raised the no servicing of our room with Reception they arranged fresh towels - which was a big save and much appreciated. The Concierge, Stephen was tremendous, polite, professional and very knowledgeable! Each morning there was a very heavy smell of urine at the Hotel entry - due to the large number of Homeless outside the hotel at various times - perhaps hose down the sidewalk early each morning.

Very comfortable bed with pleasant sheets. Standard room for the price. Flat-screen TV with access to YouTube and Netflix ONLY if you log in to your own account.

Parking is listed in the property description. Only upon arrival, we learned that we were supposed to specifically read into the details to see that is states "parking accessible" which meant there were parking garages around the property where you park on your own and pay. This hotel does not have parking. Would not have been that much of a big deal if the person checking us in had a better attitude and provided better customer service in explaining the situation and helping us find parking as opposed to being passive-aggressive. The area where hotel is located is not the best. Although lively at night with restaurants and bars, it gets a bit shady in the morning. It seems that the areas that are not very safe are just a few blocks away. We paid extra to have "city view" room, but both are windows had hand print smudges all over them and clearly had not been cleaned. Table lamp shade had a huge crack in it.

Vor dem Aufenthalt wurde mir ein Upgrade angeboten (statt Junior Suite -> King Suite) als ich einchecken wollte wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass die King Suite lediglich ein Bett hat (ich hatte für 2 Erwachsene und drei Kinder gebucht) und es mein Fehler gewesen wäre, dass ich das Upgrade gebucht habe, welches für meine Familie nicht funktioniert. Schlussendlich wurde mir dann aber zum gleichen Preis eine Suite angeboten, die sehr geräumig war. Jedoch war ich erstaunt, dass man kurzfristig versucht hatte, mir die Schuld zu geben (eine Mitarbeiterin am Counter war sehr unfreundlich, ein Concierge hingegen extrem freundlich und hilfreich.)

La cama de las 2 camas que tiene la habitacion una de ellas esta ya deforme situacion que a la vista se ve no entiendo por que no lo han cambiado, eso arruino totalmente la experiencia y de ser un hotel excepcional pasa a ser malo.

The location was pretty convenient, but I probably wouldn’t return. The hotel is closer to Tenderloin than Union Square and we didn’t care for the surrounding area.

The room itself didn’t hold up to the expectation the website set. When we arrived, the bathroom was dirty and we let the front desk know as we were heading out to dinner. Upon our return, the bathroom was still not clean and we had to request further cleaning. After that, we discovered the sheets were also sufficiently stained. Housekeeping opted to put a sheet over the stained comforter instead of changing the bedding completely.

Central location with multiple parking facilities close by.

Breakfast is a la carte and was not covered fully by the free breakfast included.

The Clift Royal Sonesta is a great hotel with excellent customer service. Our room was clean and comfortable. For us, the Sonesta's location near Union Square was ideal. We didn't rent a car, so we walked everywhere, including two Giants baseball games, the Ferry Building, Chinatown, and North Beach. The Sonesta's bar is located in the famous Redwood Room, which is historic and beautiful. Overall, I highly recommend the Clift Royal Sonesta.

1. The onsite gym was the perfect size and equipment level. 2. The onsite evening bar "Bedroom Bar" 3. The onsite restaurant (Fredrick's), the staff here were amazing and the food was great too. 4. Room size and room facilities.

1. The reception staff were rude, having an issue and bringing it too them was very quickly closed down, not addressed as they moved onto the next customer. Booking.com also struggled to get a response from them. 2. It doesn't say anywhere on the website that the bed and breakfast has a 72 dollar limit per room. With a family of 5, 18% automatic tip and 10% food tax. this doesn't cover breakfast unless you are on your own in the room. 3. Having the issue with the breakfast for the first 2 days, spending another 150 dollars around 10:30-11:00, we weren't able to do the activities that we had planned.

Très bonne literie, avec un grand lit particulièrement confortable. La chambre est spacieuse, bien insonorisée et très bien protégée de la lumière extérieure, ce qui est vraiment appréciable pour dormir le matin. La douche a également été refaite à neuf.

L’emplacement est très central, ce qui est pratique pour visiter San Francisco, mais nous l’avons trouvé assez peu rassurant. Dans les rues à quelques dizaines de mètres de l’hôtel, nous avons croisé beaucoup de sans-abri et de personnes semblant souffrir d’addictions… Avec un enfant de 3 ans, nous ne nous sommes pas sentis particulièrement à l’aise pour circuler à pied dans le quartier. Le ménage de la salle de bain pourrait également être plus soigné. Le lit est fait assez rapidement et la couette n’est pas insérée dans une housse. Enfin, le check-in et le check-out sont très expéditifs. Un peu plus d’accueil et quelques recommandations sur les restaurants, les visites ou les choses importantes à savoir dans le quartier auraient été appréciables. L’hôtel semble être très fréquenté, avec énormément de passage. Le hall d’entrée est d’ailleurs régulièrement très animé et rempli de monde.

Está en remodelación y a veces se escuchan ruidos incomodos en la zona del ascensor. Las paredes son delgadas y algunas habitaciones conectan con otros cuartos con lo cual se puede terminar escuchando bulla.

Locatie was mooi centraal, het was schoon en erg netjes. En het personeel zeer behulpzaam.

Die Lage des Hotels war in Ordnung. Positiv hervorheben möchte ich außerdem den Kundenservice von Booking.com. Obwohl der Fehler nicht bei Booking lag, sondern beim Hotel, wurde uns aus Kulanz ein Betrag von 200 US-Dollar erstattet. Das war sehr kundenorientiert und hat den Aufenthalt zumindest teilweise entschädigt.

Wir hatten eine Junior Suite mit einem King-Size-Bett gebucht. Bei unserer Ankunft wurde uns jedoch mitgeteilt, dass diese Zimmerkategorie nicht mehr verfügbar sei. Stattdessen erhielten wir ein deutlich einfacheres Zimmer mit zwei Queen-Size-Betten. Als Alternative wurde uns lediglich eine Präsidentensuite gegen Aufpreis angeboten, was wir nicht nachvollziehen konnten, da der Fehler eindeutig beim Hotel lag. Eine angemessene Preisanpassung für das minderwertige Zimmer wurde ebenfalls nicht angeboten. Darüber hinaus ließ die Sauberkeit des Zimmers zu wünschen übrig – unter anderem befanden sich Haare im Zimmer. Die gesamte Hoteleinrichtung wirkt inzwischen deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig, sodass Geräusche aus den Nachbarzimmern deutlich zu hören sind. Auch die Klimaanlage funktionierte nur unzureichend. Während unseres Aufenthalts lagen die Außentemperaturen in San Francisco bei etwa 20 °C, dennoch schaffte es die Klimaanlage nicht, das Zimmer angenehm herunterzukühlen. Bei deutlich höheren Sommertemperaturen dürfte dies ein noch größeres Problem darstellen. Auch das Wasser in Dusche und Waschbecken floss nur sehr langsam, wodurch selbst einfache Abläufe unnötig lange dauerten. Zusätzlich verfügt das Hotel über keine eigenen Parkplätze und bot auch keinerlei Unterstützung oder Empfehlungen für Parkmöglichkeiten in der Umgebung an. Besonders enttäuschend ist, dass das Hotel selbst zwei Wochen nach unserem Aufenthalt noch immer keine Lösung oder Entschädigung für die nicht bereitgestellte gebuchte Zimmerkategorie angeboten hat.

The bed was uncomfortable, felt like an old spring mattress and when I lay down my head was below my feet. For such a nice hotel, seems time to switch to foam.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly, the room was clean and met our expectations. We were five of us and fit comfortably in the space. The location is also very central.

The neighbourhood feels quite unsafe late at night to walk to the hotel by foot, even though we travelled as a group. Not a fault of the property, but just something to keep in mind for tourists.

The staff was also very friendly, both at the front desk and throughout the hotel. I truly enjoyed the experience and would definitely stay here again.

sehr großzügiges und modernes Zimmer, sauber, schönes Bad, phantastischer Ausblick (12. Stock, Suite); zuvorkommendes Personal, Hotel in guter Lage, touristische Ziele (Cable Car, Market Street) sind gut zu Fuß zu erreichen, etliche Restaurants in unmittelbarer Umgebung;

SF hat offensichtlichg ein Thema mit Obdachlosigkeit, auch in guten Lagen; vom Hotel in Richtung Ferry Building/Market Street kein Problem, in die andere Richtung ist es allerdings schon gewöhnungsbedürftig; wir fühlten uns allerdings nie unsicher - auch nicht am Abend!

The place was clean, well staffed, and the piano lounge was a very nice feature. There was shopping and dining neardy.

No hotel parking was available, but there was a public garage within very close walking distance.

The hotel is fine. The accommodation and cleanliness of the room was fine. The employees are pleasant. The rooms are not very soundproof. The decor in the lobby was nice but the sleeping rooms satisfactory. There is no restaurant/room service. However, for the price point, it lacks many items. It took me awhile to accept that I was paying to be in Union Square. I will be honest and say that my experience was soured by me not being afforded a complimentary upgrade. I booked my room through American Express which traditionally is at Bar rate (above market rate), so it was more expensive then the traditional room type and you are afforded various benefits, including a complimentary upgrade upon availability. So upgrades were available but not for free. Even when I went online I saw the rate I paid was higher than the cost of their jr suite. The gentleman told me that I had a base level room and could only be upgraded to a higher floor and not a different class. This was a hard introduction to the brand for me. No room service, no upgrades, and being called base level while spending more than others. It was a reminder of why I tend to still to Marriott and Hilton brands. I won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend the property to anyone.

I have been coming to Clift for over 20 years however this experience was not exactly as luxury as past experiences. They remodeled and the lobby with large chair is now very bright and doesn’t have the same ambiance as the last. The Redwood room no longer has the changing digital art and less food options… Many past famous chairs have been removed throughout the hotel and replaced or seemed to be more for corporate / business conference rooms. There was no bellman to help with luggage, no room service (calling room service is a message to use food delivery services), no minibar or microwave. The overall experience seems changed more for a conference hotel than a boutique. The location is great and our room was upgraded which was nice. They did bring up a bottle of champagne for being there during Americas 250th birthday which was nice. The AMEX room upgrade was very large which again was disappointing to see no options for room service or minibar. Best part was the size of the suite complete with dining table and large windows with natural light.

The location is near a street where many homeless invades the place, however we got recommendations from the receptionist to not to park or go there. We were there by misstanke tow days later and we understood what she ment .

The Redwood Room is a gorgeous bar off the lobby with a small food menu - but the food could not be better! And the service was great! There was a separate breakfast room independent of the hotel. The food, service and ambience there were what we looked forward to every morning!

My only complaint is the placement of the room safe which is on the closet shelf above one's hanging clothes. I am too short to use the safe without dragging a stool or chair into the closet; luckily, my partner is tall enough to reach it.

From the porters to the front desk team, I am always greeted warmly, and it’s clear they make an effort to remember returning guests. That personal recognition makes a meaningful difference and keeps the experience from ever feeling transactional. The hotel itself is thoughtfully updated, with clean, fresh bathrooms and a quiet, comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to rest well after long travel days. Housekeeping is consistently responsive and friendly, and the overall service is smooth and attentive. I also appreciate the flexibility in room selection and the added value from Sonesta Travel Pass and American Express Platinum benefits, especially breakfast and late check-out. Combined with a strong location, this property continues to be a reliable and genuinely enjoyable place to stay. The management and staff create an experience that feels personal, and that is what keeps me coming back.

This is my third time staying at The Clift Royal Sonesta, and it continues to be one of my favorite hotels in San Francisco. The rooms are always beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, and I especially love the modern design and city views. The location is great, and every stay has been comfortable and enjoyable. I don’t mind paying a little extra because the rooms and overall experience are always worth it.

My only complaint was the parking situation. During a previous stay, valet parking was available, but this time I had to find a nearby parking garage on my own. Since I’m not very familiar with the area, it was a little stressful and inconvenient. Other than that, I had a great stay.

The Clift is a SFO staple and despite Sonesta modernised it, it still has its charm. The building is historic, the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are new, the staff is super friendly, the location is just off the Union Square.

The complimentary wifi was tad slow and couple of the conference calls had frozen image. I did not tried the paid wifi as I believe in a hotel like this, the high speed internet should be complimentary.

I got to the hotel via train and was early for the check-in time; however, the front staff led me check in because a room was available. The room was spacious and well-appointed. It's two door down from the theatre I went in the evening, so the location was perfect.

I wish they offer breakfast or evening cocktail hour.

Extremely large room, unusual for SF, clean, old but well-maintained building and hallways. Staff friendly and nothing less than professional.

Parking. I get that is is SF but if you charge me $750 for one night, I am going to expect a concession. the $40 parking fee at a local garage goes a long way and means people out of town have that reassurance and directions of where to go. If not from SF, this is a stressful item to work on. Also, the parking garage workers are not professional. Maybe partenring with a high end hotel will change that. For the large fee, some kind of breakfast should be on the hotel.

Lage zum Union Square, zum (relativ) günstigen Parkhaus und zur Cable Car Station super. Auf dem Weg dorthin - perfekt gelegen - ein supertolles Diner. Zimmer (mit 2 King-Size) riesig gross. Sauber. Genug Steckdosen und USB-C Anschlüsse. Bett... richtig gut gelegen. Aussicht: Naja.... aber völlig egal. Wir haben da wirklich nur geschlafen.

Gerade wenn man am weißen Bordstein parken muss, wäre Unterstützung beim Ausladen der Koffer schon sehr hilfreich.
