good, but a bit expensive. good variety
lower cost
Emplacement. Qualité de la literie.
Parking gratuit devant l’hôtel, mais pas suffisamment de places même si en patientant un peu c’est jouable.
Ubicació i personal molt atent i servicial.
Staff friendly and efficient, great location, delicious meal at Tony's. It was a special occasion for us and we were treated royally.
Friendly staff
Stayed here for 1 night in early July. We booked a standard room with a queen bed via Expedia, and ended up on the ground floor, at the very end of the annex. The hotel is very popular with cruise and large group tours, which could mean full parking lot and long queues to check in. We checked in just before one such large group, and thanked our lucky stars for arriving before them. Staff were pleasant, the hotel was in good shape and our renovated room was clean and comfortable. The things that bothered us were very loud noises from the rooms above us (due to the hotel construction, I believe; the staff were able to quickly address it when we reported which was really appreciated); additional made-up fees added automatically to our bill (i.e. one for use of the in-room safe that we didn’t use and another for some “sustainability fee” that the staff couldn’t really explain) as well as a very strong scent in the lobby; the scent, very nice by the way, was so strong that I was struggling with breathing and feeling it in my throat just by walking past the reception hall. For anyone with any sort of asthma, allergies, sensitive to triggers of this nature etc, I would very seriously reconsider staying here. I very much like a good scent, but they really overdo it. All in all we had a decent stay here, but I wouldn’t necessarily rush back.
Breakfast buffet was a great surprise. Comfortable bed. Also, you can do your laundry!
Neighbors noisy
We arrived on August 4th. The room assigned to us appeared to be fine. However, when I attempted to take a shower, the water was lukewarm and wouldn't drain properly. The tub was extremely slippery, and I nearly fell several times. Standing in ankle-deep water that had a urine-like odor was incredibly disgusting. We were relocated to a different room. I had to request that they address the slippery bathtub issue, as it felt like an ice rink. The front desk mentioned that the cleaning staff are supposed to provide bath mats, but they never do. My parents came to visit on Saturday and the elevator sensors had stopped working so the door trapped my dad (with his walker) in the door and we were trying to find a button to open it again but it wouldn’t. My dad had to pull himself out of the door. How dangerous for your guests. Myself and other guests were upset about it and I informed Keke and showed her what was happening. It wasn’t fixed in a timely manner. Getting our room cleaned, even every other day as they claimed, was quite frustrating. Each person had a different explanation regarding when the cleaning would occur. One day, I needed toilet paper, and since they were delivering it, I asked if they could also clean the room. An hour and a half later, I still hadn't received the toilet paper, and no one had come by. We were then instructed to request supplies from the front desk so we could bring them to our room ourselves. We ended up collecting garbage bags from the front desk and taking care of our own trash. I asked about having my room cleaned on Sunday since it hadn't been cleaned on Saturday, and they informed me that we weren't on the list, but they would check with housekeeping. During our eight-day stay, our room was only fully cleaned twice. It felt like we were a bother for making the request. However, the cleaners were very polite, which was the only positive aspect of our stay. On Monday I did request that our room be cleaned when we left for a couple of hours and they did a wonderful job. We appreciated it. The constant noise from the street, including yelling, fighting, and police sirens, was overwhelming. While walking back to the hotel during the day after a trip to the pharmacy, I saw a girl vomiting outside the hotel. I also observed that the handles next to the stairs were dirty, and when I exited through the back door of the hotel, the doors were equally grimy. I was reluctant to touch them because they were so disgusting. While discussing the elevator issue with Keke, I overheard one of your front desk staff say, "she has complained about everything since she arrived." Whether this was directed at me or another guest, it was unprofessional. If you truly cared about your guests, we wouldn't have to voice complaints. We are paying customers. Did you forget that aspect?
Best property in Whitehorse. Great staff, very helpful & friendly.
Ok hotel but did not clean room or replace anything in our 3 day stay. Room nice and great having a fridge and microwave. Friendly staff. Great shuttle service. Location good . Nice place to stay but over-priced. Recommend if just want to be in heart of Whitehorse.
The location is very nice.
Literally everything else: 1. Parking is awful. If you’re not from the Yukon, you’ll need to go to the visitor center and get a pass that’s good for 72 hours for parking at the meters. You don’t have to pay for the pass or parking at the meters, but you do need to move your vehicle if the parking area requires it. This is not explained until you arrive. If you’re traveling through on the Alaska Highway, avoid this place like the plague unless you’re traveling in a clown car. 2. Staff takes forever to do anything. Checking in took about 15 minutes for no apparent reason. 3. The hotel commands incredible prices for a place that looks like they put lipstick on a pig. The bottom of our room door looked like someone had taken a bite out of it and you could see into the hallway.
Goede locatie ten opzichte van het centrum en de luchthaven. Goede bedden.
No breakfast offered
We couldn’t open the window. Very little counter space. Plug in hall up high needed table or counter under it.
For $427 per night, the Sternwheeler was a major disappointment. I travel to Whitehorse regularly for work and have stayed in most hotels in town. I only booked the Sternwheeler because my usual hotel had no availability. It was a mistake. The rooms may have been renovated, but the walls are paper thin. For two consecutive nights, I could hear everything happening in neighbouring rooms. Conversations, televisions blasting, and midnight parties. Sleep was impossible. By the second night, I was forced to request a room change simply to find some peace and quiet. The renovations themselves are cosmetic. The lobby entrance has uneven floorboards that make the property feel more like an active construction site than a hotel charging premium rates. Rolling luggage across the entrance was difficult enough that I had to lift my large bags by hand. The in-room coffee machine belongs in a museum, and despite charging nearly $500 per night, the hotel does not provide ceramic mugs. Guests are apparently expected to drink from paper cups. The cherry on top was the ice cold arctic shower I had on my last morning (in the new room). At over $400 per night, I expected comfort, quality, and a good night’s sleep. I received none of the above. I will not be returning.
The staff were friendly and the room was very clean. Unfortunately, neither can overcome the fundamental problem: this is a motel masquerading as a hotel.
Beds comfy, very quiet, staff helpful, room very clean.
There was not a single towel rack in the room (209). There were towel racks in the room we’d stayed in previously. Morning coffee should be complimentary.
Horrible front desk service. The room was still dirty with finger nails on the floor, beds felt like sleeping on concrete. They put me in a room right beside an exit door that construction workers used to slam every 5 minutes coming in and out all day long. I would NEVER tell people to stay at this disgusting hotel.
Room is spacious
Front door was closed. Parking sucks! The front desk guy looks like he does not want to be there.
The Sternwheeler Hotel is clean and comfortable, and its location is great - close to restaurants and shopping, and right across from the MacBride Museum. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful at checkin/checkout and when we needed to store our luggage and return our rental clothing. I would have given it a 5 but there was some noise in the hallway when Aurora viewers returned late at night, but we probably made the same noise so it was easily forgiven.
The location was pretty good which was close to some cafes and restaurants. Me and my partner also had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel which was nice too!
We had to return the rental cloths and leave the hotel about 6:30am coz of the flight but there is no staff at the front. We were suppose to be able to return the cloth through the hotel but we ended up to leave them behind the counter and sent the email later. The hotel was lovely tho!
Enjoyed our stay, good central location close to downtown. Rooms are clean. although dated. Towels were thin and the mattress too firm so not very comfortable. Restaurant on site was good. Staff was very helpful
Great location, comfortable room and efficient reception staff. Considerate room servicing staff. Apparently I have to write at least 100 characters, so now I have

Good location and staff helpful all the time
the bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean. The hotel was centrally located and was walkable to most every were we needed to go.
Convenient location, compared to some other hotels in Whitehorse it was like being under the cone of silence as far as noise level. Very clean.
The staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful in coordinating the airport shuttle. Our best experience was at the restaurant where we enjoyed a night cap, and the bartender was knowledgeable and very friendly. She really went out of her way to welcome us despite having large groups that she was also taking care of.
Nice place. Clean. Appreciated the free shuttle.
Restaurant quality was poor. Breakfast buffet was not good and very overpriced.
Overall, a good hotel... Best part by far was the location - near transit, the river (incl. walking paths), and lots of restaurants. However, while I booked a mobility accessible room by accident online, they only had one apparently and already gave it away; for people needing that, you may want to get something in writing. The room was generally quiet, but a) the HVAC system and other 'utilities-type' noises were loud when they kicked in, and b) the bathroom door did not close at all. Small note: seemingly a lot of cigarette smokers staying there, so the hallways and elevators always stunk.
The desk clerks were helpful and the restaurant served delicious food!
The floor in #158 is uneven and hard to get used to ex. a marked dip out of bathroom.
Central to all the town .food was great and excellent service
We arrived as part of a travel agent booked package only to be told there was no reservation for us. The receptionist was less than helpful and made no attempt to assist, turning us out with no alternative accommodation. We found our own accommodation that night. This place added insult to injury by providing a dishonest version of events to the travel agency. Dishonest reception staff with a total lack of customer service. Poor show - go to the Hyatt or Edgewater- both far more professional.
Location in downtown was good. We booked a suite for a 2 night stay as property advertised itself as dog friendly. We checked in with our dogs present. At midday the next day a staff member phoned me on my cell and advised that as we had dogs in our room they were not permitted and told me I had to change rooms to the ground floor and a suite was not available . I responded and advised her that I would not be back until the evening and that this would be a B major inconvenience and what was the harm in finishing our stay . She then advised that she had to talk to someone else and would call me back in 5 minutes . She never did call back. We spent our afternoon in limbo awaiting the call. We found this interaction very unhelpful. It left a bad taste in our mouth
Lots of foot traffic noise incursion from rooms above us.
Older hotel thats been remodeled. Floors were uneven and sloping. Someone with mobility difficulties may have issues.
Location is perfect. The hotel is beautiful and clean. Staff was very friendly.
We like the location. For the price. We expected more
Location, cleanliness

Very nice hotel. Clean, quiet and close to everything. Great on-site restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. our TV wasn'working the second night that we were there, and two of the housekeeping fellows went out of their way to help fix it in a very prompt manner!
Beautiful rooms, Great Location. Elevators doors are locked for safety.
Was a pretty good experience. The shower was very noisy, it sounded like a whistling kettle, but otherwise it was a good stay.
Friendly staff.
I stayed for work. Good location. A bit run down in the lobby and hallways. A musty smell in the hallways. Room was ok
Convenient dowtown location. Airport Shuttle
Staff was super friendly and great and helpful. They made our stay very pleasant. Would definitely recommend.
Very clean room and helpful staff
The floors throughout are all uneven and quite risky
Our room in this hotel was good. It seemed clean and cared for. The hotel was busy. The restaurant Tony's had a great menu. It had lots of options for us, a vegetarian and a pescatarian. In the mornings, this is their breakfast room. There are tour groups who include the breakfast. The staff told us it was a buffet breakfast. The cost was $21.00 for those who don't have included breakfast. This is not a buffet. It has enough food but not good enough for $21.00.
Excellent
Weird ramps and steps in the hallways and rooms

Parking spaces are a bit limited
Great hotel right in the heart of Whitehorse. Super easy to walk to the river, shops and dining. Very friendly, attentive staff. I had a few special requests to be sent to our room and they kindly obliged. My only comment would be to have a few more garbage cans in the lobby area and outside.
My star was nice and comfortable
Good hotel just off the main drag. It’s a little worn, but still comfortable. While other hotels offer a bit more as far as amenities go, if you get it for a good price, it’s worth it.
The bed and pillows were great. WiFi was excellent.
The hotel is extremely old and has a smokey smell. The location is right in the down with very little secured parking.
A
Very clean and great staff. Only odd thing was no thermostat to control room heat or AC.
Hotel and rooms were great! The only downside is limited parking spots and Price for stay.
Great place to stay! Clean and staff were friendly
Room was nice, friendly staff and the restaurant is excellent. The parking situation is bad, only about 18 spots in a very cramped lot. BUT - we parked on the street right below our room and had no issues. Go to the visitor center and get a 3 day street parking pass for free. It's also free overnight and only 50 cents and hour during the day so its cheap. I would have liked to know ahead of time about the parking and only found out about the visitor center pass from staff at a local outfitter, the hotel never mentioned it. I would stay again, the hotel itself is good.
