Room wasn’t cleaned properly - empty bottles & toothpaste down back of door. Maybe we were unlucky?!
In town to board a cruise ship a few weeks ago. I stay at this hotel the night prior, each cruise. The on-site restaurant is delicious as well as friendly wait staff. The staff at the front desk are very welcoming and accommodating. I love that they offer a shuttle service to and from the port for a very affordable fee to not only be driven to the port, but also be able to leave my vehicle parked at the hotel for the duration of the cruise. The room was very clean and comfortable.
The staff was friendly and hardworking. The cookies- as always were great!
We were sent to a room we couldn't access because it was already occupied. They reprogrammed our cards and sent us back o the same room even after we told them it sounded like someone was in there. Finally maintenance got involved and found out someone had already checked into the room. we were assigned another room. The handle fell off of the shower as soon as we turned it on. There was no tub. The pool was half drained and full of bubbles when we came out for an early swim before check out. We called the desk to see if pool was undergoing maintenance and/or if it would reopen. They did not followup so we called again- they said it was closed. We went back to the pool- no signage, pool looked absolutely normal- full and no bubbles. We went to the restaurant and stood waiting to be seated for 10 minutes while the employee cleaned and set tables without being acknowledged at all. There was one occupied table and 1 person sitting at the bar- it eas not busy. No excuse for being ignored for 10 minutes.
Carl the shuttle driver was excellent..Front Desk always kind, patient and understanding..
I didn't like double queen sz bed room assignment, having paid for King size bed rooom.
Overly priced! Rooms dirty, with no breakfast included. There is a deposit fee along with another deposit.
The staff were very friendly
The room was so dirty. The bedding had been changed, but that was all that seemed to be done. There was TONS of hair everywhere, on the floor, in the shower, it was so gross. The floors were so dirty that I had to wipe my feet down with a wash cloth before getting into bed and the wash cloth looked disgusting, and that was just from walking from the bathroom to the bed. The towels had rips in them and the wall paper was peeling off. This was not a 4 star experience.
Breakfast was good. At the price of the stay, buffet should be offered.
The hotel was filthy. Trash all over the hallways. Kids running around not controlled. Our room was clean but we were not happy with service other than breakfast. Place needs to be cleaned up. Disgusting.
As a Hilton Diamond member, I rarely write negative reviews. I understand that mistakes happen, and I generally try to give hotels the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, my recent stay at the DoubleTree Norfolk was marked by repeated service failures and an even more troubling management response. During a stay of more than two weeks, my room was not serviced on three separate occasions. While missing housekeeping once may be understandable, having it happen repeatedly during an extended stay is unacceptable. Each time I reported the issue, I was assured that housekeeping would return later that evening to correct the problem. On every occasion, no one came. As a result, I was left multiple nights with dirty towels, an unmade bed, overflowing trash, and a room that simply had not been maintained. The inconvenience was frustrating, but what concerned me more was the apparent inability—or unwillingness—to follow through after acknowledging the problem. What ultimately compelled me to write this review was my interaction with the General Manager. Rather than focusing on a solution, he explained that the housekeeping staff's schedule was not flexible enough to address the issue. When I respectfully expressed concern that this was not an acceptable answer after multiple service failures, the conversation deteriorated. The General Manager became argumentative, raised his voice, and ultimately hung up on me while I was speaking. That moment transformed this from a housekeeping issue into a leadership issue. Every hotel occasionally encounters operational challenges. What distinguishes great hotels from poor ones is how management responds when things go wrong. In this case, I experienced repeated service failures, broken promises to correct them, and a management response that was dismissive and unprofessional. As one of Hilton's most loyal customer segments, Diamond members choose Hilton because we expect a consistent level of service and respect across the brand. This experience left me questioning whether those standards are being upheld at this property. My hope is that Hilton corporate leadership reviews guest feedback carefully and takes steps to address both the operational shortcomings and the customer-service culture reflected in this experience. The DoubleTree brand—and Hilton's reputation more broadly—deserves better. I cannot recommend this property based on my experience.
The hotel was very nice for the price. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable.
There were stains in the carpet and no microwave in the room.
It was a nice room but the fire alarm kept going off and ruined our morning. We checked out early due to this.
The location of the room and the cleanlinest of the rooms
Respectable staff very friendly people I love it here

Spacious room Very clean
Clean friendly

Facility was updated, many amenities available on the property! They even have a nail salon & gift shop! Pool is pretty big, compared to many other places I have stay so that is Great. They also have several different entrances which is convenient based on parking! & many places to explore on the property
Paying for breakfast. We always stay at The Double Tree by Hilton for my daughter's cheer competitions. They usually have to arrive by 7:45am to their venue, which makes it hard to stop somewhere on the way. However, $20-30 for one person to eat breakfast is a bit too much.
Appeared recently updated. Very clean, spacious and comfortable.
Barn doors should never be used for a bathroom door.
Location is primo just by the airport in a safe area of Norfolk. The room was huge and the bed and pillows a dream. The staff went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The bartender and waitresses were exceptional.
Everything was wonderful

Very noisy hallways, children running around for both days of our stay despite notifying the front desk. Service at the restaurant was poor, food came out staggered at all different times and the wait staff was nowhere to be found.
Clean, safe, well-maintained, friendly staff
I still cannot get over that for the amount the rooms cost, there is no complimentary coffee in the morning!!! Just for that, I will not go back. That is such a little detail that would not cost the hotel much but would have made our stay perfect.
Comfortable bed
I normally don’t give bad reviews but the Bathroom was dirty, no trash bag in trash can . Trash was left in the trash before we gt there just not worth what I paid
The people went above and beyond to make sure your experience was good. Alphonso our shuttle driver and the ladies at the desk on 3-14 when we checked in were awesome
It was all great
The staff were friendly and I enjoyed the breakfast. It was fresh and reasonable.
I was not aware that they offered a cruise shuttle as an option. On the website it only mentioned the airport shuttle. I was staying there before my cruise and would have booked the shuttle vs paying a high priced lyft
The room and especially the bed, were very comfortable. The food was good.
There was some confusion over the free shuttle bus when going back to the airport. Breakfast service could be improved. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival was difficult.

I liked the location
I didn't like that the staff waited until I checked in to tell me that the water would be off most of the day the day after. Housekeeping did not clean my room due to me not being there, I wasn't there because the water was off and I thought they would at least change the towels. I didn't like when I went to the restaurant the lady offered me water while I waited for my food and never gave it to me until about 20 minutes later when I asked again. This was by far my worst hotel experience ever.

The staff was friendly and the ambience was warm and inviting. Will book again when in VA.

Clean , comfy , and friendly staff
Tyler and Tina at the front desk are an awesome team. Despite juggling about 10 things simultaneously, they accommodated a request to print a few pages for my work. Also, the breakfast buffet is fantastic with frequent refreshes by the kitchen staff. The heat in my room was turned up to 82F when I arrived due to the cold snap (outdoors is well below freezing). I am comfortable at 68F and the thermostat in the room is working beautifully to keep it right at 68 for comfortable sleeping. Really impressed with the maintenance and upkeep of this place as not many hotels have thermostats that actually work. Nice job to the crew. Overall, my stay here has been great.
warmer pool
The allergy free cookie.
The price was expensive for the quality. The pool was soapy from cleaner and unusable. Bathroom had no privacy with sliding door. The hotel restaurant was expensive and we had a super long wait. We had to change rooms at midnight since our neighbors were excessively loud.
Very bright and inviting
It was dated but still tasteful
Restaurant at location
The heat didn’t work in the room
Upon our arrival we had dinner and then in the morning breakfast. The meals were tasty and the portions were huge. The shuttle service was terrific. Front desk staff were congenial
There was a bit of a wait to be seated at the restaurant but not unacceptable

Nice clean rooms staff was friendly great location.
Ice machine on 3rd floor didn't make ice
The cookies were excellent, the shuttle driver was amazing, funny and kind. The staff at the counter upon check-in were warm, cheerful, and welcoming on New Year's Eve. Bottled water was a nice touch.
The water pressure in the shower was low. The food during lunch at the restaurant was not tasty and pricey. It would be nice if there was a microwave to warm up the food that may be refrigerated. The gentleman at the counter at check out was on the phone for 15 minutes and ignored us standing in line to check out at 6:00 am. Overhearing the conversation that sounded like it was with an employee and did not sound pressing enough to place on hold for customer service. We got tired of waiting and almost missed the shuttle waiting. I just placed the key on the counter and ran to catch the shuttle to the airport. An exit should be as warm as the welcome.
Didn’t eat breakfast a little pricey for kids who don’t eat a lot but everyone was friendly
My CHECK-IN experience was SUPER, AWESOME, FRIENDLY, HELPFUL. Also those hot delicious cookies wow some kind of good. I really love how the guy asked if I had any allergies to nuts or chocolate.
The bathroom could have been a little more cleaner. The bathroom floor still had black long hair on it.

Location was convenient. Nice building. Bar looked nice though we arrived too late to enter.
Garbage in hallways. Room not sound-proof
We needed a hotel with an airport shuttle to ORF. More and more hotels are eliminating shuttle service. This DoubleTree fit the bill. The focus on customer service made this the right choice. From Tia (shuttle driver and her assistants) to Tiffany, Jamie and Sarah (housekeeping rep), everyone made the stay a pleasure. It has been a very long time since my wife and I felt like we really got our money's worth at an inn of any brand/kind.
Conveniently located, but the airport
Not within walking distance of restaurants, but you didn’t have one there
Tyler and Chris took care of me, great service everytime I come. The cookies are amazing I would define recommend and I will be back
Location. Clean

The food was delicious and the staff went beyond to accommodate our stay. We will choose Doubletree again
No changes needed to be made
The service in this hotel was good. The front desk was very friendly. Just had a odd check in Experience, the front desk attendant told us that we were upgraded through our diamond status to a one bedroom suite, but later called back and told us that it’s not possible. The breakfast was mediocre, but the bar in the evening had prompt service. The hotel had a lot of students staying there, which meant that the hallways at night were very noisy, This is the main point why I gave only two stars. For a business hotel, I was expecting to come back to a place where I could rest, but because in the night the hallways were so loud that was not the case. Until the students leave, I will not recommend this hotel for any one.
