The Water Tower Inn - BW Premier Collection

This was our first stop on our way to TB. That first night it sounded like someone was using a jacuzzi and when that stopped there was a lot of stomping. I complained about this, and I was penalized for doing so. I always get a room on the 5th floor. This time I was stuck in a hell hole on the ground floor. I guess I am not supposed to bring the fact that I was unable to sleep that night to their attention. If I am ever put on the ground floor again, I won't be going there ever again.

I like to be treated like I mattered, instead I felt like I was not welcome there. I could have been given a room on the 5th floor, like I am accustomed to, instead I was penalized because I am a good citizen, and I have the right to mention the problems that I encountered. The desk staff made me feel like I am homeless person, no smile, no hello, no goodbye. The TV in the room on the ground floor was not even working.

Repairs and maintenance sadly needed bathtub in room 420 had large crack in the side of it roughly mudded up. Hallways have peeling wallpaper in many spots all over Carpet in our room was dirty or stained. Best western could do way better

We loved the room. We loved the view. There was loud stomping for about 11pm to 12 am. Next thing we heard was a jetted tub. It ran for approximately 20 mins. Spoke to someone at the front desk, she tried convincing me that neither of those things happened. I can assure you that I know what I heard. We are on our way to Thunderbay and will be back here for 1 more night. Your hotel is always our priority when booking in Sault Saint Marie.

Front desk staff, both at night and the following morning were rude, providing curt and short answers. When I requested our folio, the staff made it seem like I was inconveniencing them. Unhelpful and unaccommodating when asking for water in the lobby or flexibility with pool access. We stayed the night of August 10 and checked out August 11, 2026. On the contrary, the staff at Casey’s restaurant were extremely friendly, quick, and accommodating.

The location is pefect if your just passing through town. The pub has great food and live entertainment on the weekends which I have never been disappointed with.

Authentiek, zwembad, fijne gym, zakelijk vriendelijk, redelijke badkamer, veel fastfood in de buurt. Goed bed, koffie en thee op kamer, lekkere Starbucks filterkoffie, geen koffie voorzieningen in lobby.

Definitely not worth the $300 with tax for a single night. Room was dated and not cleaned very well. The AC sounded like a boat motor. The dresser was falling apart.

A breakfast should be included for the price. The room was nice and spacious. But the kitchen had no dishes, cutlery or glasses - so that was disappointing. The pull out sofa was uncomfortable, one of my family members didnt sleep all night. Staff was unaccomodating in discounting the room. Wallpaper was falling off the walls. Desperate need of an update.

Location is convenient lots retail around it. Nicely laid out unfortunately outdoor water works was not working. Our room was Ok, probably needs to refreshed. We appreciated dog bowls being provided.

The hotel staff were congenial. Our room was prepared for our dog with water and food dishes with a treat. The room was shabby, chipped furniture, the caulking around the window had slipped and there was black in the grout of the tub. The sink stopper did not work. The air conditioner was fine. There was lots of hot water and pressure for a shower. The only ice machine was located at the far end of the 4th floor hallway. The tub was slippery. There was a grab bar but not a slip mat. We never did get the tv to work. The guide was there but you couldn’t access a channel. We asked at the desk and were handed a list of the channels. It didn’t help. The bang was not worth our buck. We will stay elsewhere.

Our stay was ok, but not what I’ve come to expect from a Best Western. Two of the pools were not working, breakfast was not included because our membership wasn’t the right level and they didn’t even have complimentary toothpaste when we ran out. We’ve stayed at other locations for the same price point and received complimentary breakfast, toiletries and friendlier service. This location does not live up to the Best Western name, let alone Premier standard.

Lovely hotel. Staff are friendly organized and helpful. Rooms are lovely. Shower is hot with good pressure. Room was quiet. Breakfast was great. Pool was clean. Lots of amenities nearby.

Check in was straightforward rooms were tidy and clean,location to restaurants and stores was convenient.Access to rooms were easy and minimal noise from other rooms.

The place is starting to show it's age and things like hall carpets and paint could certainly use an upgrade.The a/c units are just ok and could use replacing as they tend to be louder than you would like for sleeping.

The staff in the restaurant were fantastic, very friendly and outgoing, Alexis in particular was very very kind to me. I have a walking disability and have been in agony since arriving in the Soo and when I arrived for breakfast in tears; she showed me so much compassion. The only COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THE LACK OF ACCESSIBLE PARKING . Since the time the water tower was built there were always 2 spots out front of the building and now it’s down to 1 which is not acceptable!!!! Intake t the first 55 years of my life, born and raised in the Soo and I know my facts are correct. Please repaint the 2 spots out front and put another sign up, it’s the RIGHT THING TO DO

The room needs to be updated as well as the carpets in the hallway. Shoulder height showerhead is very convenient, but the beds were comfortable and the breakfastt have a lot of variety. The pool was very nice.

My room wasn't so clean, and I was so tired to complain about it.

Our stay was very pleasant, especially after a long drive and being so tired as we arrived just before 9:00 p.m. Front desk staff has been absolutely amazing and helpful. And everyone loved our little Chihuahua, Rosa! We needed an accessible room and it was right close to the entrance which was great for us but still far enough away that it was quiet. Loved the roll-in shower and hotel has great water pressure.

Everything great but .. when I book my room I ask for early check in cause I was drive to Sault’s Marie got there early around 9am when I book it was all good for early check in that was on Tuesday June 23 on Thursday I call directly the water tower to double check booking for early check in it was all good to go when I got to the motel Friday morning at 9 am I couldn’t get the early check in for my wife I was in meeting all day my wife had to wait good things there’s good staff and they managed to get the room within 1.5 hrs but I did book for early and call twice to make sure my wife didn’t seat around

The place is tired or maybe just our room was. We paid extra for a pet friendly room and then an additional $30 pet fee. Our room was full of what appeared to be casted off furniture not in great shape. Our bathroom door would not close. The pool area, which was doubted to have four pools only had one pool and a hot tub that was working and the rest was out of service. The outdoor hot tub area needed work. Peeling pain and another fountain that wasn’t working that was just murky.

Great staff,kitchen manager and personal unbelievably attentive to clients and details when serving an excellent variety of dinner selections as well as breakfast!

The rooms and the beds are wonderful. Sadly, my praise ends there. I was waiting for a simple check in for between 5-10 minutes when I arrived. Cats were backed up, waiting to unload. The air conditioner in the room was either malfunctioning or just a poor design. When the fan is set to “high”, I barely felt moving air standing directly in front of it. If I set it to “cool”, it would shut off while the room was still over 5°Fahrenheit above what I set it to. Lastly, the wifi was HORRIBLE. It was crawling, no matter which of my devices I used to connect to it. I did not even dare to try to stream any video, just simple web browsing was painfully slow.

The hotel is very outdated and run down. The pool area is in dire need of repair and the shower to rinse off was not working. The inside hot tub was not working either. I was surprised to see the suite we stayed in was very outdated and needs refurbishing. The hotel used to have a good reputation but that is not the case now. I would not recommend this hotel.

I made this booking for my mother in law and daughter. I booked two rooms and when i made the booking I asked that the 2 rooms be close to each other. When arriving at the hotel they were informed only one room is booked although we had proof we had booked two - I wrote an email on numerous occasions and got zero response...

Hotel is starting to show its age. We've stayed in several different rooms and suites over 5 years and the carpet is getting frayed, stairwell stairs chipped, bathrooms dated. Everything very clean, but tired-looking.

In the middle of the night, the heater broke and started a loud noise and stopped working. When we called the reception, the staff was not available to fix it . The reception staff did not even bothered to visit the room and on the phone just said that 'Turn off the heater yourself'..All night we slept in the cold..the next day at 11 am the staff came and changed the whole unit working for 30 min. Surprised to see that such an expensive hotel does not have a concept of pro-active maintenance. They are charging customers a huge amount and then not even bothering to compensate for the in-convenience caused !..Also, the staff is totally not helpful. While they see i was bringing my lugguage all alone with 10 suitcases in freezing cold, they dont even bother to open the door and just keep standing warching ! Poor experience..interms of value for money, i would rate it zero or infact -10 !

Can you make up a booklet with instructions for the TV or which channels are available. A restaurant menu in the room would be nice for ordering in. Why is it so much more expensive than booking through Expedia. Why didn't l get Western points.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary in a suite with a fantastic 2 person tub! The room was perfectly appropriated and the service was stellar. We plan on coming back next year too.

Room seemed to had a big break in at some point. The whole hotel is very old and smells like chlorine. The beds are old and uncomfortable.

Queen bed/ Front desk staff not overly friendly when checking in so not happy about that at all

Pet friendly room was equipped with horrible beds. Bumpy and lumpy with broken inner coil springs which made the bed tip to one side. The inside of the Shower curtain had a mysterious green substance on it and housekeeping was advised as we were loading up upon checkout. We’ve been staying at the Watertower for well over 30 years now and the pet friendly rooms have degraded quite a bit.

We took our family to the Water Tower Inn for a March Break staycation and it was absolutely perfect! The kids LOVED the pool and especially the outdoor hot tub — that was a huge hit. Our room also had a really cool fold-down bed for the kids, which made the whole experience feel like a fun adventure for them. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and clearly designed with families in mind. It made traveling with kids easy and enjoyable. Location-wise, you can’t beat it — right on the Trans-Canada Highway and super easy to find (the water tower makes it pretty hard to miss!). The staff were fantastic, and the manager truly goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. Highly recommend for families looking for a fun and stress-free getaway in the Soo!

Pool was cold. Indoor hot tub was down. Starbucks didn’t have espresso machine. Some staff weren’t very helpful. Room was dated for the price of a suite. Pullout couch was very uncomfortable.

The location was good. Lots of restaurants close by. Family friendly atmosphere. The room brought disappointment. We stayed in the Sweet Suite which was a queen in a separate room, sofa pull out, kitchenette, and bathroom. The price for the room is more than a regular room due to the kitchenette and a separate room for sleeping. What is not mentioned is that the bathroom is in the queen room and those in the living area on the pull out have to enter your room to use the washroom which can be quite disturbing if trying to sleep and also invades privacy. The other thing that is not mentioned is that the kitchenette does NOT include any dishes or cutlery. We wanted a kitchenette so that we could prepare small meals/snacks. We brought items to eat and set them all up in the fridge and on the counter then went to grab a knife and to much astonishment every drawer and cupboard was bare! I couldn't believe it. I have stayed in rooms many times with kitchenettes and they have always provided several items, even had dish soap to wash your dishes. This was terrible. I called to front desk and expressed my concern and he said "oh, I understand but we don't provide any of that." I then explained to him that that was the point for guests to want a kitchenette, otherwise what's the point? He said I could send someone down and they'll give us some. My daughter went down and he sent her to their kitchen to which the lady gave her three plates, a giant mixing bowl, and 3 plastic packages with 2 plastic knives and forks inside. So we attempted to use the plastic knives to cut our apples and kiwis and thankfully we brought our thermos as we used it for our soup. I'm sorry, for the price of these rooms they definitely should come with some dishes and metal cutlery. Service has just gone down...they also could or should have brought it up to us. I have never seen this before. Maybe I'm wrong but should it have been assumed that the kitchenette have some supplies?

For the price point, the hotel is just average. The rooms are dated, the indoor hot tub wasn't working (and it hasn't been functional for months), the floor of the sauna was very dirty, the outdoor warm tub (the water was warmish not hot) was closed shortly after we arrived. Sure it's cold, but having a bunch of kids grab snow and ice and throw it into the "hot tub" isn't helping. Getting to the outdoor warm tub was an Olympic sport as it was sheer ice which is somewhat normal given the outdoor temperature. What isn't normal is having an employee pour hot water over the ice every x amount of minutes to melt the ice. It's winter. It's cold. What do you think happens when you pour hot water on ice? It melts and freezes again within minutes creating more ice! Laying a couple towels down on the ground would be significantly safer.

Outdated rooms, carpet was loose and coming up, beds were small and uncomfortable. The temperature outside the pool area going to the washrooms was freezing cold.

Hotel is dated, and in dis-repair, we observed damage and a lack of maintenance throughout the facility. The included breakfast was disgusting and we chose to pay for breakfast somewhere else. Staff were friendly with the exception of the morning shift in the restaurant - who seemed like they didn't want to be there. Our room had not been thoroughly cleaned as we found hair ties and pins that were not from us on the floor next to one bed and crumbs from food next to another. We will not be staying there again, as it seems the ownership, maintenance and cleaning staff have given up.

Location is great. Close to many restaurants with a good one right in the hotel. It was very clean and noise was pretty minimal. Service was excellent. Pool and outdoor hot tub is great. Unfortunately the indoor hot tub remains out of service. The pool area could really use a refresh. Waterfall area doesn't function and the fake rocks are in disrepair. The hotel itself could really use a freshening up. Quite outdated.

Mentioned that our room didn't have a microwave @ check in & 10 mins after we got settled in the manager knocked on the door with a microwave for our dog's food. I was impressed. We will definitely stay there again.

This room furnishings were newer than some of the other rooms we have stayed in at this hotel, so we had high hopes. However, we were unable to sleep, because the thermostat was broken, and they didn’t have anyone to fix it. At one point in the middle of the night, it was up over 80 degrees. (Despite being set at the lowest temperature allowed) Indoor hot tub has been out of order over a year, many spots in the hotel have had the carpet removed and what’s left duct taped together. The location is great. It needs a major investor to come in and put some money into it.

The Water Tower Inn is always accommodating for our Hockey team. They are organized and professional and we have been happy to stay there on many of our visits to Sault.

Shabby room - wall paper peeling everywhere. Paper thin walls. Very uncomfortable bed. The facilities have seen better days. Staff in the hotel and restaurant were amazing. $230 is overpriced for this experience.

When we arrived our two rooms were not together but they quickly made sure that they were - we could not be adjoining but we were beside each other. They were very behind on cleaning rooms so we had to wait and did not get checked in until close to 4pm but they did give us breakfast coupons for this inconvenience and the rooms were very clean. Breakfast was delicious but I am very sad about how we were treated by restaurant staff like an inconvenience because we have 4 children it was nice to see their attitudes change when they realized they are well behaved children but it was upsetting and unnecessary until this point - very happy with rooms and pool area but will unlikely use the restaurant again for our stays

The rooms are small and dated with old wallpaper that is peeling in some areas. Our bathroom was not the cleanest and visible dirt on the walls in the room. The pool and hot tub area were quite nice.

It was nice having the restaurant in the hotel good food.

That the indoor hot tub was closed . I was on the 4th floor and it looked like renovations were happening the hallway carpet was ripped up.
