The Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club

We really enjoyed our stay. The beach was beautiful, clean, and very well maintained, and the resort had a relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, everything was clean, and although the property has a vintage feel, it is well maintained and comfortable. We would definitely consider staying again.

The main downside was the number of additional charges, including beach umbrellas, gratuities, and extras related to food and services. Considering the price of the stay, we feel basic amenities such as beach umbrellas should be included; additionally, the adults-only pool was not open, and there was a noticeable unpleasant odor on the first floor just below the lobby.

A rare spot by the ocean not surrendered by high rise buildings in an exceptional environment. We love it and shall go nowhere else. We sincerely hope it will not change so we can enjoy this little paradise every once a year traveling from France.

Food was pricey. Lunch was expensive at Ocean Grill. Breakfast was good at the main restaurant. Rooms outdated, but clean.

There is a lot for the kids to do and also privacy for adults of wanting to be in an adult only area.

Air conditioning didn’t keep the room cool, it struggled to keep up with the heat.

Gorgeous resort! As close to the beach as you can get, and rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean! Plenty of food options, and having a separate adult pool was awesome for a couple enjoying time away from their own kids!!

We had to get an Uber to go basically anywhere off-site because there was nothing within walking distance. Ubers were plentiful though, and not too bad price-wise.

Very clean, friendly staff, no feeling of being in a too crowded location. Nice outdoor water/sports/entertainment in a relaxing environment. Close to the beach. Overall well equipped. We always had (free) parking in front.

Perfect stay, but nothing to do in the very nearby area, you will need a car.

I would recommend paying directly rather than charging anything to your room. A bartender added a $60 tip to a $50 bill, which I only caught by checking the final receipt. Unfortunately, the hotel has not responded to any of my emails to resolve the issue.

We have been coming to Lago Mar for over 25 years, and it has truly become so much more than just a place to stay—it feels like coming home. Over the years, we have made countless wonderful memories here, and each visit is something we look forward to. There is a special comfort in returning to a place that is familiar, welcoming, and consistently wonderful. The staff have always made us feel valued and appreciated, and their warmth and hospitality are a big part of why we continue to come back year after year. It is rare to find a hotel that holds such a special place in your heart for more than two decades. The Lago Mar has been part of so many chapters of our lives, and we are incredibly grateful for all the memories we have made here. After 25+ years, we can honestly say that we wouldn’t keep coming back if we didn’t truly love it. We look forward to many more stays, more memories, and many more years of calling this wonderful hotel our home away from home.

Location was amazing, on the ocean and 10-20 minutes from the airport. Food was delicious from every place you could eat. We had family dinner at Aquario, recommend the Mahi Mahi, chicken and steak, all were perfectly seasoned and delicious. All staff were friendly and helpful, we loved Fran at the Soda Shop. Kids loved that they could get what they wanted when they wanted without having to carry cash or card to and from the pool and the ocean since all charges go on the room. FIVE STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The entire staff has been very attentive to our every need with cheerfulness. It’s hard to find this in the service industry these days and we appreciate it. From Fran in the Soda shop, the front desk staff helping me with a lost room key and all our special housekeeping requests, and Carlos and the ginger boy (I forgot his name) handling the beach chairs/umbrellas, they have all been wonderful. The people working the pool bar and the beach towels area have been very nice as well.

The hotel was excellent. The team was very kind and helpful throughout our entire stay. The pool and the view from our room were perfect, and we had a wonderful time during our visit. I highly recommend this hotel, and we will definitely come back!

One suggestion would be to include the option to add breakfast directly when booking through Booking.com. It would make the reservation process more convenient for guests.

We have stayed at the resort too many times to count. Looking forward to our next stay already! If you’re looking for a clean, classy, private resort with all the amenities, this is the resort. Family owned and ran. A lot of places to eat on property. Choices for activities or just sitting on the private beach. Our stress goes away the minute we pull onto the property. Can’t wait to come back!!

Welcoming, clean, great staff, amazing mgt, luxury feels at a reasonable price . We stayed a day before our cruise and a day after. 5 min to the ports. Was able to receive complementary early check in on both days & a very reasonable fee for a late checkout/ half day on our day home. We enjoyed our room so much on the day before our cruise that they saved it for us for the day that we stayed after our cruise. Mitch at the pool bar was awesome. The poolside service was great. Management was wonderful. Our girls loved the soda shop for ice cream and snacks. The food throughout the hotel was perfect. And the drinks were top-notch. Ocean was great! Only downside is beach chairs are 15 each per day but still enjoyable. We will be back!

6 stays and counting-best relaxing vacation in Ft. Lauderdale. We Will be back!! We always rent a car - the location is fabulous and Free parking - self park within a few steps of front door of hotel entrance. Huge beach and extra special is an adult pool where the little kiddos are not allowed. So you can enjoy a snooze and drink ( best pina’s). A large family pool provides fun for all. Staff is exceptionally helpful and all staff seem actually happy to help the guests. We love the comfortable beds and well appointed rooms. Each room has a balcony. You literally can ask for more

Lago Mar is a hidden gem. We are locals always looking for a good staycation spot and this checked every box. We visited with family and there was something for everyone to do. Everything is in house all you need to do is show up. We definitely will be visiting again.

Lago Mar is a premier destination that our family enjoys visiting annually. The beach is incredible, the pools are extremely welcoming especially in this South Florida heat. The staff make it a point to treat everyone like a king from the time you arrive until checkout. We love Lago mar so much that we will actually be back again in 3 days with several families to celebrate and get the kids ready to resume school in a few weeks. Enjoy Lago and have yourself a great time!

I was anxious to check out the Lago Mar Beach Resort after so many years—I had stayed there with my parents and my sister back in 1971 before the major tear down and rebuild of the resort. While I didn’t recognize anything due to it being completely rebuilt and expanded in the 1980’s and 90’s, we were impressed with the overall experience including our oceanfront 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite and the lovely dinner at their Acquatic restaurant. The staff are all very nice from the room service ladies to the Soda Shop employees. There are two lovely swimming pools—one for families and one for just adults. There is a laid back vibe to the resort and there are amenities such as a full service spa, fitness room, miniature golf, pickleball and shuffleboard. In the afternoons there is live music by the family pool. Besides the fine dining restaurant there is a casual grill by the beach, a “soda shop” that serves breakfast and lunch and has great smoothies and milk shakes, and an open air bar/lunch restaurant by the family pool. The value overall is excellent—very fair room/suite prices and the food is also priced fairly. Don’t expect the Ritz or Four Seasons as far as how the rooms are decorated, but we found it all to be just fine and very clean…and we have very high standards. Highly recommend.

It was a perfect long weekend for our girls trip! Restaurant was delicious, pools were clean, and so much to do right on the resort! The pickleball courts were nice too!

We had a wonderful experience! We stopped by before and after a cruise. The Tiki Bar staff, Dany, Jill, Kelli, Chuck and Anna made you feel like you were at your favorite local spot. I consider the beach service extremely but extremely expensive. On top of the expensive cost of beach chairs and umbrellas, service charge and taxes. Also, rooms, need a bit of an update to be in the industry standard.

Everything was great, the room was clean and this is a great place to visit with family. The service was great, everyone with smiling faces --Dany specifically stood out for his hospitality and attention to detail - always going above and beyond. Location is great because you are on a private beach so you don't have to deal with the riff riff - lots of activities for the kids. From putt putt to kids pool, adults only pool, pickleball, basketball court, soccer goals, the list goes on.

We had an amazing stay! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and always willing to help. The rooms were spacious, and the atmosphere was relaxing and perfect for a family vacation. The location was excellent, with easy access to the beach and nearby attractions. Overall, the service exceeded our expectations, and we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The resort was great! Me and my friends enjoyed our stay. Housekeeping was great and always attentive. Check in / out was a breeze. Great service from the front desk down to the bartenders and servers! 10/10 id come again!

Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club surpassed my family expectations, it has its own beautiful private beach area, the staff is welcoming and accommodating, rooms are clean, the bed felt amazing, breakfast buffet is a plus, it has a lot of amenities, it has two beautiful pools, one of them for adults only, food is fresh and tasteful. Every staff member is worth to mention but Joan, Leyla, Ramon, and Claudia at Acquario all do an excellent job, work hard and treat you as family, Ty the manager is a non stop machine, making possible everything works perfectly. The grounds at the property provide a perfect beach escape with the beach on-site, nice pools and plenty of other activities.

The property itself is showing it's age. The pull out beds are very uncomfortable and the main pool was dirty on one of our days there. Also, the breakfast selections were limited and the buffet did not seem worth the cost. We only saw one fruit option. The breakfast options were overpriced for what you received.

It was beautiful, peaceful, spacious and the beach was clean. It has a lot of amenities and great location.

I didn’t like that we had to rent the beach umbrellas and chairs. I think that should be complimentary.

I honestly didn’t like the resort at all. The service was very poor, the room was not ready on time, and the cleanliness was unacceptable. Overall, the entire experience was very disappointing The photos are misleading. What you see in the pictures is not what you actually find when you arrive. The place is extremely disorganized and poorly maintained. The staff’s personal appearance is very unprofessional, and the smell throughout the property is terrible. The air conditioning does not work properly. The lobby is extremely hot, and there is little to no air conditioning in the restaurants or the waiting areas. Overall, the experience was very, very disappointing. The reality of the property is completely different from what is shown in the photos.

O quarto é espaçoso e conta com uma pequena cozinha equipada com micro-ondas, torradeira e alguns utensílios, o que é bastante prático. A mobília é antiga e a decoração tem um estilo mais clássico, o que pode não agradar a todos, mas o ambiente estava funcional.

Escolhemos o hotel principalmente pelo acesso direto à praia. Infelizmente, no dia em que fomos, a praia estava com bastante acúmulo de algas, algo comum em algumas épocas do ano na Flórida, e, por estar próxima ao porto, havia um cheiro desagradável de peixe. Por outro lado, os funcionários foram extremamente educados, atenciosos e pacientes durante toda a estadia, o que fez diferença na experiência.

My husband and I have been coming to Lago Mar for 5 years or so and it has always been a 10 out of 10 experience every time. Shout out to all the tiki bar staff, especially Dany who always has a huge smile on his face. The Soda Shop gals are great too!! I do wish they didn't outsource the beach and pool service and amenities. It's over $60 to rent an umbrella and 2 chairs on the beach. The rooms have almost all you would need. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair Dryer, makeup mirror, coffee pods, creamer, big coffee cups, silverware , dishes, dishwash liquid, etc.

Wow!! This is one of the most amazing properties we have ever stayed at. It was so luxurious. We were upgraded to a suite and the size of the rooms were mind blowing. The property had everything a couple or family would want. A family and an adult pool. Plenty of lounge chairs. Several places to eat. So many fun activities all included in the price such as mini golf, pickleball, giant chess, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, a playset, and all of this is beachfront!! Just incredible.

Many people leave their towels by the sunbeds so that someone else can get them. We have seen in other hotels that they collect towels that have been left untouched for more than an hour. Would be a good idea too

My daughter and I had a wonderful time here as this is our favorite place to stay as it’s located in a beautiful area and close to go to near by restaurants if you choose to visit. The resort is historic but well kept and maintained. The staff is very friendly and the pools are great and clean all the time. Only one recommendation to the management as I am in my 70s and they only have a few disability rooms I feel that for the elderly and other people would feel safer going in a tub to take a shower with a bath grab bar on the wall above the niche so we all can grab to hold on so no accidents occur. Otherwise I give this resort a five star rating. Definitely coming back.

Gorgeous property, very clean, breathtaking views, attentive and friendly staff, spacious rooms, and endless amenities. Love the adults only pool, hammocks, and gazebo bar with live music playing at the pool on a Sunday afternoon.

We had a pre-cruise stay here for one night. This is a wonderful resort! So many amenities to enjoy! The hotel has a great Floridian vibe. The staff was courteous and accommodating! The scenery was of course wonderfully amazing and coastal! Especially enjoyed the walk to the private beach! The suite the property graciously upgraded for us was beautiful inside and out! The outdoor pools were also so relaxing to feel the Florida sun! Would highly recommend this wonderful place Especially for families due to the abundance of amenities to keep kids happily entertained! Looking forward to a future stay here to enjoy Ft Lauderdale and the warm Florida Sun and Beach Life!!

This hotel is a classic beauty. The architecture is lovely and everyone is friendly and helpful(we especially appreciate Reginal at the bar! He was great!) The room is spacious and clean and the bed is comfortable. We are just stopping here on our way to our cruise but it is definitely a hotel we will come back to and spend a few days at.

We LOVED our stay at Lago Mar! Dany and Anna took incredible care of us at the pavilion but our entire stay was wonderful! My family of 3 stayed for 2 days before embarking on a cruise and it was a perfect fit for us! My son loved the pool and amenities! The property is stunning and absolutely spotless! We will be back!
