During my stay there were two water bugs in my room.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location with great sea view very close to the beach. Walking distance to very good restaurants and a short taxi ride to more. Rooms spacious, well maintained. Breakfast very good. Bar area comfortable. Some live music at the weekend. Outdoor and indoor pool. We used the outdoor pool and it was great. Also walking distance to the beach. Close to Santa Barbara Beach as well (15 min walk). Ribeira Grande is a great spot for seeing the main sights on the San Miguel island - everything within 45 min drive. Quieter than Ponta Delgada where we also stayed and enjoyed more of a city stop.

A little bit pricy but we thought it was worth the extra for the modern facilities and wonderful sea view.

Am ersten Abend kamen wir erst um 16 Uhr an und konnten keinen Platz für 2 Personen mehr im Restaurant reservieren. Wegen einer grossen Gruppe. Wäre am ersten Abend, einem Samstag, wo die Restaurants in der Umgebung auch voll waren, noch schön gewesen.

Bar hat bis 12:00 Uhr auf inkl kleiner Snacks. Schöne Lage - Strand direkt hinter dem Hotel. Sehr gute Massagen, reichhaltiges Frühstück

Die zwei Saunen sind etwas sehr klein für die Anzahl der Gäste.

There is a small wasteland between the hotel and sea that is not that attractive. Small niggle - the pool table has lost some balls including the cue ball. Most likely because the net has a hole and they have fallen down inside the table leg.

Das Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit! Die Lage ist ganz praktisch, aber an einer Hauptstrasse. Besonders herrlich waren die Massagen! Sehr empfehlenswert! Der Strand bietet super Bedingungen zum Surfen. Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden.

Wir hatten hunderte Insekten in der Badewanne, die immer wieder zurückkamen. Vermutlich aus dem Abfluss. Das blieb den ganzen Aufenthalt so. Die Zimmer sind absoluter Durchschnitt. Die Lage ist ok. Der Ausblick ist ganz schön aufs Meer, aber da liegt eine Brachfläche dazwischen, die vermüllt ist. Das Hotel wirkt ungepflegt und ungeliebt. Morgens stehen draussen noch Gläser von der Bar abends. Der Indoorpool wirkt irgendwie schmuddelig. Draussen auf der Terrasse war ein Stück Bodenplatte abgesprungen, die hab ich nach 4 Tagen mal wieder zusammengesetzt. Die Glastische vom Frühstück werden zwar feucht abgewischt, aber behalten dann typisch einen Film drauf - das sieht einfach nicht schön aus. Das Frühstück war eine Katastrophe! Verstehe gar nicht warum manche so begeistert sind. Es gibt zwar gefühlt 10 Arten seinen Kaffee zu holen (Automat, Vorgebrüht, Nespresso), aber der Rest? Dosebohnen, Fertigwürstchen, Dosenchampignons, Fertigrührei, vorgebratene Spiegeleier in lauwarm, … Die Pancakes sind ganz gut. Viel zu teuer für die Qualität, die es bietet. Wir waren zuvor in einem kleinen, feinen, privat geführten Hotel für das gleiche Geld - da waren WELTEN dazwischen.

It feels like a place in crisis, neglected and showing signs of the lack of proper care. You can’t get an extra towel, you can’t get ice or bottle opener, spa looks pretty ran down, many dishes are cold at breakfast…little things that should be taken care of but are not…

Immaculate property! Beautiful amenities and views. Location is incredible. The staff were beyond helpful in general but also in helping us deal with an issue (unrelated to the hotel).

Das Hotel ist gepflegt und die Zimmer sind mehrheitlich sauber. Der Blick auf das Meer ist sehr schön, jedoch liegt zwischen dem Hotel und dem Strand Brachland wo viel Müll liegt.

Beim Check-in wurde eine Kaution von 150 Euro gefordert. Die Kaution war aber nicht verpflichtend, wurde mitgeteilt. Der Betrag würde während dem Aufenthalt mit Ausgaben im Hotel verrechnet. Ich habe dann der Person am Empfangen mitgeteilt, dass ich das Konzept nicht nachvollziehbar finde. Daraufhin wurde wiederholt, dass die Kaution freiwillig sei. Ich habe die Kaution per Kreditkarte bezahlt. Beim Check-out wurden dann alle Ausgaben in Rechnung gestellt. Die Kaution ist noch blockiert. Ich verstehe das Konzept immer noch nicht…

Location (overlooking the sea) and the facilities (both indoor and outside swimming pools are large and well maintained)

The location was excellent, with free parking available either at the hotel or nearby. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The spa area is excellent, featuring an amazing heated pool. The breakfast was varied and delicious, served in a dining room right in front of the sea with a gorgeous view.

The room wasn't anything special and was located quite far from the elevators. Also, the air conditioner wasn't very strong and took a while to cool down the room.

We had a great stay at Verde Mar! The staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always happy to help with a smile. When we arrived, they decorated our room so nicely and surprised us with wine and chocolates, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. The location of the hotel is fantastic. The spa is very nice, and the indoor pool is a huge plus—especially on windier days. Regarding parking: the main lot in front fills up quickly, but there is plenty of free and easy street parking all around the hotel, so it was never an issue.

We personally didn't connect with the breakfast, though it is mostly a matter of personal taste.

The hotel looks good. The lobby staff are nice and helpful. The size and design of the rooms and bathrooms are nice. The play room was great for the kids.

The public areas are not clean. Charge an extra 15 euro per room service order. Breakfast was average and pastries were dry. One of the barman staff was not nice.

The location was very convenient. A short walk to restaurants and the town center. All parts of the island were easily accessible from the hotel. We had dinner in the restaurant and were very pleased with the quality of the food. The servers were very attentive.

The parking situation leaves room for improvement. We visited the hotel during high season, and finding a parking spot could be very difficult. We parked in the employee area several times because all other parking was taken. The hallways and common areas were not cooled like we are used to in Florida.

המתקנים היו נהדרים, אהבנו ששעות הפתיחה של הבריכה והספא היו מאוחרות. הנוף היה נהדר והצוות נחמד מאוד.

החדר שלנו היה על הרחוב ולפעמים היה מעט רועש.

Super Lage, fußläufig zum Strand, Supermarkt direkt gegenüber, tolles Frühstücksbuffet, leckeres Barfood, freundliches Personal, saubere Anlage und Pools, Handtuchservice für den Strand.

Wir sind kein Fan von Doppeldecken und es hätte ein paar mehr Haken geben können, um Jacken etc. aufzuhängen. Vier Sitzgelegenheiten auf dem Balkon für alle wäre auch schön gewesen.

The hotel was generally clean and the staff were pleasant. The location is also convenient for exploring the area, and some parts of the property are attractive.

Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing and nowhere near what I would expect from a hotel presenting itself as five-star. The property looks considerably more premium in the photos than it feels in reality. Much of the furniture and outdoor setup feels cheap, with a lot of plastic furniture, and the overall finish and atmosphere simply do not match a five-star standard. It is also marketed in a way that gives the impression of being a beachfront resort, but in reality it does not really feel beachfront. The hotel was very busy with families and young children during our stay, so the pool and common areas were often loud and not particularly relaxing. The value for money was probably the biggest disappointment. On top of already paying five-star prices, there are additional charges for services you would normally expect to be part of this level of hotel — including a €15 extra charge just for room service delivery. Altogether, it felt much more like a standard family resort than a luxury five-star hotel.

Las piscinas, el gimnasio, la zona y el personal del hotel me encantaron.

Das Personal war in allen Bereichen sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Suite war geräumig aber nicht in allen Teilen funktionabel. Das Zimmer sehr modern, die Klimaanlage individuell regelbar. Der Blick auf die Bucht war top. Das Frühstücksbuffett war umfangreich, war aber nicht außergewöhnlich. Es gab auch glutenfreie Brötchen. Der Außenpoolbereich war sehr angenehm, keiner hat Liegen reserviert. Das Hotel liegt optimal, zu den Restaurants kann man gut laufen, wenn man nicht im Hotel essen möchte.

Die Terrasse vorm Restaurant war groß hatte aber leider nur wenige Tische zum Frühstück. Ansonsten standen 3 Sitzbänke im großen Abstand, die nur benutzt wurden um auf einen freien Tisch zu warten. Mehr Tische wäre hier schön. Abends konnte man gar nicht draußen essen. Mit dem Abräumen morgens auf der Terrasse kommen sie nicht hinterher. Die Terrassenmöbel sind für das Klima praktisch aber ansonsten unbequem. Das Bad hochmodern mit Glaswänden, dafür keine Ablagen und zuwenig Handtuchhalter.

L’établissement se positionne en 5*, on n’est pas du tout dans cette catégorie. Le petit dej est « convenu »avec des œufs brouillés en sachet, les étals ne sont pas réapprovisionnés régulièrement et les aliments souffrent parfois de la chaleur. Nous avons dû réclamer que notre chambre soit « faite » alors que nous rentrions de promenade à 15h30 et étions partis vers 10h00. La réponse a été : en général les chambres sont faites vers 17h00 ! La salle de bain est mal équipée : Pas de sèche serviette et les portant pour les serviettes sont à environ 3m de la douche tout comme l’interrupteur pour sa lumière situé à 2,5 m de la porte d’entree de la sdb. La Clim s’éteint dès lors qu’on retire la carte magnétique de son logement. C’est à dire à chaque fois qu’on sort de la chambre. Enfin nous avons découvert une énorme blatte dans notre chambre. Parait il que ce sont les insectes de la région. Pour conclure, l’hôtel est bien placé mais n’est surtout pas un 5*. C’est un B and B amélioré. L’accès à la plage se fait via un chemin dans un terrain vague non aménagé

Haben aufgrund der Größe und der Bilder des Hotels einen unpersönlichen Block erwartet. Sind um Mitternacht angekommen und wurden extrem herzlich begrüßt, ins Zimmer begleitet und alles erklärt. Auch der Hinweis, dass es alles von der Minibar im gegenüberliegenden Supermarkt günstiger gibt, haben wir sehr gewinnend gefunden! Kam nach dem Flug mit starken Nackenschmerzen, nach sehr guter Massage war alles gut! Öffentlichen Sandstrand mit life guards haben unsere Buben sehr geliebt- Wellenhüpfen, wenn man kann- perfekt zum Wellenreiten!

Wenn überhaupt - ein zwar sehr umfangreiches Frühstücksbuffet. Aber aufgrund der Größe des Hotels, in kleineren Hotels qualitativ hochwertiger (Brot, Käse, Wurst,Speck). Aber sehr gutes Obstangebot.

Super Hotel. Tolle Zimmer und Pool. In der Nähe beim Strand. Leckeres Frühstück und allgemeine das Essen war sehr fein. Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Wenn es heiss ist und man im Restaurant einen Tisch am Fenster hat, wird man leicht gekocht. Schade, wir konnten das feine Essen dann weniger geniessen, weil wir schnell vom Fenster weg wollten.

We loved our room overlooking the ocean. The bed was very comfortable. The cleaning service for the room was excellent. We loved the amenities, the staff and the service. Would definitely say there again!

The breakfast could definitely been better. The first couple of days it was good, then we hoped for different fruit like watermelon, plums, etc. Then mid way we got very tired and bored of the breakfast and could not eat it anymore. Unfortunately, they served the same items everyday.

This was a truly unique experience and one of the highlights of our trip. Sleeping on a pineapple plantation—the only one of its kind in Europe—is something we will never forget. Everything was spotless. The guided tour of the pineapple plantation was fascinating, and the entire property is peaceful, intimate, and surrounded by birdsong in the morning. The private pool room was outstanding, and the jacuzzi inside the pineapple greenhouse was an absolutely brilliant idea. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented, and we also enjoyed dinner at the cozy on-site restaurant. We appreciated the property’s strong commitment to sustainability, the secure gated parking, and the excellent communication from the staff throughout our stay. Highly recommended. It was absolutely worth experiencing.

Een prachtig hotel op een goede locatie met een schitterend uitzicht over zee. Alles is op en top geregeld. Schoonmaak is uitstekend, het personeel is erg vriendelijk en de faciliteiten top (massage heerlijk). Laat je onderdompelen in de luxe van dit hotel. Het centrum ligt op loopafstand met mooie oude kerken, een park en mooie brug. Ga ook naar het uitzichtpunt op de heuvel. Dat biedt een prachtig overzicht over de stad enerzijds en de kustlijn anderzijds. Wij hadden een familiekamer. Deze heeft twee aparte slaapkamers, erg fijn. De bedden zijn erg ruim en van zeer goede kwaliteit.

The hotel’s restaurant menu could be a bit expanded: in main dishes they have are only two types of fish (codfish and fish if the day), would be great to include also seabass, salmon, tuna, espada. Also too much vinaigrette in the salads, both Caesar salad and beetroot salad did not meet expectations. Shrimps and soups were good though

The breakfast offered a great variety of options, and the location right by the sea, together with the long swimming pool.

I honestly don't know where to start. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing hotel of our trip. The staff was, with one wonderful exception (the luggage attendant), simply rude and uninterested. Asking a question felt like interrupting their day, and eye-rolling certainly didn't make us feel welcome. It almost felt like there was a strategy: if you don't pay for a sea view, you get the "24/7 traffic soundtrack" package instead. The windows were so poorly sealed that motorcycles and cars sounded like they were driving through the room. After a sleepless night, we asked for a quieter room. The receptionist's first response? "You can upgrade to a sea view... for an extra charge." I explained I didn't want the view - I wanted the quiet room that was advertised. We were eventually moved to the sea view room, but without so much as a simple apology. The room itself was very worn, with damaged furniture, visible mold, and a general feeling that maintenance had been forgotten for quite some time. The spa was another adventure. Exposed nails in the sauna benches, broken accessories, and mold seemed to be regular residents. The towel policy also felt stuck in the 90s - you use the same towel for sitting in the sauna and drying yourself, then exchange it at reception. Not exactly what comes to mind when thinking about hygiene. And surprisingly, there wasn't even drinking water available in the spa area. Apparently, after a sauna, hydration is optional. Overall, the hotel felt neglected, outdated, and lacking genuine hospitality. Throughout our stay, we found ourselves wishing we were back at our previous hotel.

Great ocean view, ideal location to explore both east and west of the island. Spacious rooms, very clean. Staff very friendly. We got to check in a bit earlier which was great on bad weather day. We enjoyed sauna and steam room. There is nespresso machine in the room (which turned out to be free of charge despite the note that it’s part of paid mini bar - bit confusing)

For this price, the breakfast was low quality - „fresh orange juice” was definitely artificial juice, also very disappointing that they don’t serve azoroan pineapple (which is delicious) but they serve the one from abroad which wasn’t even ripe yet and had no taste. Pastries looked very sad, eggs were too coked and cold. The breakfast doesn’t really change from one day to another. In the bathroom there is no place to hang towels, especially hand towels which is very annoying. Swimming pool was super cold even in late June (it’s a shame it is not heated - in other hotel in azores we had heated outdoor pool and it was amazing to enjoy even in bad weather), while indoor pool has strong chlorine smell.

Lage und Zimmerausstattung

Das Restaurant und Frühstück schmeckte uns nicht und war überteuert. (positiv: Nespresso Maschinen). Das Personal im Restaurant war nicht besonders geschickt, nicht aufmerksam und auch nicht freundlich. Mit direkten Worten gesagt, hatten sie keine Lust zum Arbeiten. Im Gegensatz zur Reception! An der Reception waren alle charmant und hilfsbereit. Am Pool und Tisch und Stühlen draussen hatte es nur hoch oben festmontierte Sonnenschirme, die nichts nutzten.

I enjoyed my stay the whole time. My highlights: the ocean view from the balcony but also from the restaurant, outdoor and indoor pool; the wonderful pure nature between the hotel and the ocean plus the direct way from the back of the hotel to the beach. Dinner at the restaurant was great, I highly recommend the octopus and as dessert the brownie with caramel.

Nothing comes to my mind that I did not like. Still, a cheaper price would have made me happier 😀

Breakfast was extensive, with a large variety of fresh fruit, eggs, meats, and breads and reflected the variety of international travelers. The staff was attentive and multiple types of coffees and teas were available.

There were no beach or pool towels at the pool, or attendants to assist you. Guests had to go to the front desk to obtain a towel and return it to the front desk. There should be a more convenient option. For maintenance...both the hotel room bathroom and the public bathrooms showed some wear & tear, which did not reflect the quality of the rest of the hotel.

We have stayed for a week in a sea facing junior suite. Very warm and friendly welcome on booking in, in fact every member of staff have been very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, whether at reception, restaurant, bar or room servicing team. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious, with air conditioning if needed. Every day, on returning from our travels around the island, the room had been cleaned, clean laundry and smelling fresh. The indoor pool was quiet, but a good size and has spa nozzles at either end. The sauna and steam room were clean and the right temperature. At breakfast there was a large selection of fresh fruit, bread, pastries and cooked eggs/bacon as alternatives. Our only comment on the restaurant is that the evening menu could offer a wider choice for those who want to dine in. The hotel is located just behind the surfers beach and in easy walking distance of the town centre. Some restaurants however don’t open on every day, such as Mondays and some close on Tuesdays. Car hire was efficiently arranged through hotel. Car parking spaces can be at a premium.

The spa facilities need to be maintained. The pool jets were not all working in the indoor jacuzzi and the sauna had a door with a wide gap to the floor letting out all heat that should be fixed.

Beautiful hotel. The rooms were comfortable, and appreciated the daily turndown. Pools are great, loved having the heated and cooler option. Easy parking and a short walk to town. The front desk staff were very friendly and attentive.

Would have loved an in-room coffee option!

Emplacement central par rapport aux centre d'interêt de l île, les 2 restaurants dont un snake très pratique , hotel très bien équipé chambre spacieuse.

Super nettes Personal. Haben spontan auf ein Meerblick Zimmer upgraden können. Die Lage ist perfekt. Ideal, wenn man ein Mietauto hat und sternförmig die Insel erkunden will.

Putzdamen reinigten nur so lala. Um die Schuhe wurde herum staubgesaugt und über Oberflächen herumgewischt. Störte uns aber nicht großartig- war ja eh unser Dreck 😅 Der Wellnessbereich roch sehr stark nach Chlor

Die Lage ist fantastisch, man kann zu Fuß alles erreichen und wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick, welches ich auf jeden Fall empfehlen würde. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich (ich bekam mehrere Überraschungen zu meinem Geburtstag, herzlichen Dank nochmal). Die Massagen sind absolut empfehlenswert und auch beim Frühstück sind keine Wünsche offen geblieben.

Clean, modern room with a balcony overlooking the ocean! Great central location for exploring the island. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a selection of cheeses, breads, eggs, and juices in the breakfast buffet each morning. Would've liked to take a swim in the indoor and/or outdoor pool if we had the time!

Nice location

I loved the rooms, especially the super comfortable bed! I also enjoyed the spa facilities and the delicious drinks at the bar!

Restaurant service was not at the level of the hotel, and prices very high for the food, forcing us to always go out for dinner, a pity. Room in the front was a bit noisy from the street.

We based ourselves here for the main part of our stay. The hotel is lovely. We made sure we booked a sea view as looking into the street would have been disappointing. Overall the hotel met all our needs but is it 5 star? Maybe 4.5. The restaurant menu could be a bit more varied and they need blinds on the windows. It became too hot at night. Breakfast was good with lots on offer. If you want to get to the quieter side of the island this hotel will meet all your needs.
