Carlisle Station Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW

The hotel is opposite Carlisle train station and located right in the town centre, which was convenient. The bar is newly refurbished and the new lift was working.

The hotel is 10 metres from the train station's main entrance with everything that that implies: cars letting off and picking up travellers and people coming and going day and night. We specifically ordered a twin room but when we arrived at 18:00 hours, they hadn't got one available. The room was very dated and not clean at all. I looked behind the bedside table looking for a plug to charge my phone and found crumbs and make-up sponges dropped by previous guests. The windows were very old with a sliding inner window. The bathroom was large, empty and outdated. No mixer tap in the wash basin and porcelain from the 1980's. The bath was narrow and quite dangerous to get into and out of.

Rooms were large and teh bathrooms great with loads of hot water. Breakfast was very good

maybe the décor is a bit dated and needed a freshen up but it really wasn't an issue.

There were limited choices for breakfast if you are gluten-free and lactose-free.

The room had a disgusting window looking out at a wall so was dark & dismal. Then all night we was kept awake with some sort of extraction fan buzzing loudly, room 224 is a definite let down

Being woken up by train station announcements from 6am onwards. The ridiculous noisy seagulls. The warm room was unpleasant.

Fabulous central location for shops Cathedral and bars. Parking next too. Good selection at breakfast.

The window frames require attention and the bathroom is dated but it was clean and good for a three star. The lift was very small.

Staff were excellent and extremely friendly. As a lone traveller you felt welcomed and safe. Excellent location. Just a huge thank you for the staff, they make the place they really do.

It’s a tad run down. Bathroom could do with an update, walls could do with a paint as very scuffed in places. Cleanliness was passable but again it could just do with the extra touch up. I would stay here again, it’s not that bad….yet.

Room size- excellent. Location- good. Bathroom size, good Overbath shower-water pressure, good.

Wash basin hot water, almost scalding. Shower too low to use while standing, unable to adjust height. Shower water temperature fluctuated several times from cold to VERY hot while in use. Mismatched toilet seat- wobbly.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the location is right next to the train station which means no issues getting there all being well. Food at breakfast was buffet style which is perfect for me. I chose to upgrade to the suite so the room and bed were spacious which was perfect and a view of the station as a transport enthusiast was great for me.

The shower in the bathroom wasn't always hot, the temperatures kept fluctuating between lukewarm-ish cold and warm, not a massive ordeal for me. Some small stains found on desks and the bin wasn't cleared out from the last guest(s).

The earplugs they provided after we complained about the noise from the club next door.

Really disappointing and not at all what we expected from a BW property. The most important thing to know is that guests should under no circumstances stay in the designated car park. We paid £12 for the privilege, but when we were boxed in by an illegally parked car and unable to leave the morning of checking out, hotel staff told us that they had no way of knowing who the car belonged to and were completely unwilling to tow it. They said they were worried about liability if they towed a car - apparently their liability to us, having trapped our car there against our will, was not a concern to them. While we eventually made it out, their unwillingness to help get the obstructing car out of the way was completely unacceptable. Unfortunately our troubles were not just in the car park. The hotel is located next to a night club that closes at 2am, and little effort seems to have been made to soundproof. Finally, the hot water took so long to heat up that we were certain it wasn't working. While we've stayed in plenty of older hotels with heating that took 30 seconds to a minute or so to warm up, this was the first time that I had to wait more than 5 minutes (I timed it) for a barely-tepid shower. Again, staff were ultimately unhelpful, only saying that not all hotels have instant hot water. Overall, the most frustrating experience I've ever had a hotel.

The bedroom was nicely finished with a comfortable bed and nice bright windows.

The bathroom had not been refurbished and was quite dated looking. I did not like the fact that they had no mixer taps and the toilet suite looked like something from the eighties. The towels were new, large and very white and the toiletries were fine.

It’s next to the train station so ideal for breaking long journeys and also in town close to bars, restaurants and local places to visit.

Only has a bar with snacks, no food available.

No complains about the hot itself But wetherspoons William Rufus were playing extremely loud music until 2am right behind our bedrooms. It was like being in an Ibiza night club. I thought wetherspooms didn't allow music

En suite a little dated, though clean and functional so cannot complain.

The bathroom/s partivularly in room 325 needs upgrading. The carpets on the corridors are not as fresh as the ones on the ground floor. The corridors would look pleasant if they put quality carpets.

The only slight negative was the bath/shower was a little tricky to negotiate if one's mobility is an issue.

The room was spacious and clean breakfast was good staff were nice and pleasant ideal location for myself stopped there 3 times and always a pleasure.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was nice, lots of space and everything you would need. The bar staff were helpful regarding needing ice water for the room late on.

It was booked as a double but the bed itself was just two singles pushed together with no zip or the metal thing that usually keeps it together so all night me and my partner had to keep from falling through the gap and pushing the bed together.

Other than for breakfast Hotel was like a ghost town, no character and soulless. Nothing on offer Other than breakfast which is possibly fine owing to its central location. Hotel needs quite a bit of TLC, beginning to look tawdry.

Close to the train station, but honestly the sound of trains was negligible. The desk clerk did not hesitate to find me a new room when the first choice looked directly into a busy pub where grad parties were going on. She noted that their elevator was out of order, but I chose a good night's sleep over a little extra effort. I also had no trouble getting a spare room key when I left my first one in my room.

Staff were rude at check in, room smelt of damp, loads of outside noise and the curtains don’t fully cover the window so the room is light at 5am.

Our room was very comfortable, however there was a beer garden out the back which was not a part of the hotel that was very noisy later at night.

It was a bit tired and dated, especially the bathroom.. really needs updating. Also it wasn’t very clean, especially the skirting boards and tiles. Which we did mention at the reception. The parking was also a bit confusing. It wasn’t very nice round the back of the building, with smashed glass etc, pretty rough..

Nice room,maybe if possible vould open window a little bit more,I understand you cannot open it full,but need bit more air in room.good breakfast .maybe could be brought toast to table and tea /coffee, because everything cold by time you had to queue up for toast and coffee.But good choice,and plates are cold for putting breakfast on .just little pointers that could make such a difference.

Huoneessa haisi todella pahalle. Haju tuli kylpyhuoneesta, joka on ison remontin tarpeessa. Kylpyammeen ympärillä olevissa seinämissä näkyi hometta. Ikkunat olivat sisältä märät koko vierailumme ajan. Jos haluat nukkua, valitse joku toinen hotelli. Hotellin vieressä on pubeja ja baareja, joiden musiikki kuului todella selvästi huoneeseen ainakin kello 3 saakka. Huone ja kylpyhuone oli siivottu huolimattomasti. Lattioilla oli roskia.

Very central for everything. Lady on reception was very friendly when we 1st checked in. No problem getting in the carpark. Comfortable beds. Breakfast wasn't bad..

Couldn't turn the towel heater off in bathroom so was, hot in there. Must be on a timer. Bathroom a bit dated. Hair on the floor in bathroom. Took forever to get a coffee, machine wasn't working properly, need to refill once food is empty more quickly.

On arrival as it was our wedding anniversary I had contacted the Hotel direct to have a bottle of wine in the room as a surprise for my wife as she entered the room this was not provided. I paid extra for a executive room main light in the room was not working and the light over the sink was also not working it was very dated and overlooked the train station bar so we also had to contend with the noice which got louder as the evening progressed.

It was near the train station and near everything and nothing was too much trouble

The place was looking tired and the bathroom were really showing their age. No facilities for dinner in the evening, but that didn't matter as many restaurants within 2 minutes walk.

There was no sofa in room (Suite) as advertised. Breakfast, though plentiful, was not very hot, nor was the coffee.

I wasn't't very well the morning I was leaving. The staff were fantastic and very caring (went beyond). Would definitely recommend this hotel.

How close it was to the train station costa being next door for a morning breakfast and it was close to pubs and town centre

The room retained allot of heat they did provide a fan but it wasn’t enough to make us comfortable it was quite cool overnight and in the morning but the room remained like a sauna

The hotel is in an excellent location in the city centre. The room was of a good size. Very clean.

Although informed prior to booking, the lift being out of order was unfortunate especially when on third floor. The fridge was not working and appeared to have been leaking for some time, There was quite a large stain on the carpet. Card only at the bar.

The hotel was conveniently located next to the railway station, the rooms were large, clean and the bed was comfortable.

The hotel is located very close to a street containing noisy bars. Boom Boom music and street noise until 3:00am on Sunday morning made sleep impossible. On Sunday night a noise that sounded like a defective pump bearing increased in intensity until it sounded like the squealing of a ruptured choir boy made sleep impossible.

Sad to say the hotel is tired.They have very few staff.The staff that are there are second to none.They are doing many roles in a day .Going from reception to bar when someone rings for a drink.Throughout the weekend they kept smiling and were always willing to help.

On arrival I was a little disappointed I had booked an upgrade on my room the guy checking me in took payment then informed me I had been downgraded. The two lovely ladies on the Saturday night could not of been better if they tried friendly helpful and just everything you want. My refund to be fair was done quickly by the same man. I would go back just because of the staff. Thank you

Von Samstag auf Sonntag sind die Kneipen und Clubs in der Nachbarschaft laut, aber ab 11:30 pm wird es deutlich leiser. Die Toilettenspülung war etwas schwach, 2 - 3 Spülgänge waren nötig. Poll

The bed was comfortable and the location was excellent right outside the train station.

The room was dated and dirty, we were left with a quarter roll of toilet paper which had obviously been used and handled by previous guests, the bathroom sink had toothpaste splattered on it and the over bath shower sprayed all over the floor and no floor mat was provided, no water in the room and night time reception staff were asleep behind the desk when we went to buy water from them. The radiators were filthy and the carpet needs a deep clean, lift was also out of order, extremely noisy due to a Weatherspoons beer garden beneath the room we were in.
