Clean and convenient area, good sized rooms and comfy bed.
Our room has a REALLY loud banging at the window from the moment we arrived til when we left. There was multiple ear plugs on the bed at arrival so im assuming its well known that the window is dodgy but nothing is being done about it.
Great location close to the train station and city centre
First room we were given was incredibly smelly which we can only describe as like a dirty nappy. We asked if there was an alternative room as we could not stay in that one. We were moved without any problem and whilst it didn’t smell dirty the sloping ceiling made it feel quite claustrophobic Crockery at breakfast was not very clean.
Been staying at the COUNTY HOTEL 3x Location is the best you can get in Carlisle city centre!!
But this time the room was really tiny and very loud due to a squeaking floor and wind making loud noises on roof, seemingly coming from roof tiles or something else, but very loud … At some point seemed like the roof is going to break in. I am not a picky person who likes to hate everything, but this time I was disappointed...
Beautiful hotel with a great history
It doesn't say on their site they will not store electric bikes in hotel must be in car park which doesn't feel as safe.
We liked the location
We booked a superior room but although it was spacious it didn’t have any added benefits. We realise it was a town property and provided earplugs which don’t actually work. The constant pedestrian crossing beeping outwith nighttime drove us mad. Also the buffet breakfast was cold on both mornings
Warm clean traditional decor but comfortable...ensuite important and private parking behind building..centrally located for city centre trains and eating places...shops...staff friendly and regular servicing of rooms if needed..
Everything ok...have udsed alot of accomodation in Carlisle and as a hotel for price great!
Location. Staff friendly, efficient however there was not enough staff.
Understaffed. Guests smoking in hotel doorway.
Location
WiFi did not work no internet in room
Old fashioned hotel with lots of character, complete with creaking floors and labyrinthine corridors. Comfortable room and very tasty breakfast. Central location.
Nice enough room. Central location.. good breakfast.
Welcome+ departure...not enthusiastic. BIG STAIRS to 3rd floor. Lift old fashioned. Fire alarm activated..." escape " by rear stairs....abs terrible. Dirty, slippery, pigeons, pigeons droppings, no staff at fire exit ( I opened door). AND most alarming, NO ROLL CALL IN HALL. YES IT WAS FALSE ALARM BUT......... UN LIKELY TO RE-BOOK. Oh and £8 for car park. When booking in....read that car park free???
Room was big.
Unbelievably noisy all night - did not sleep at all. Doors slamming, floor boards creaking, road noise.
Town centre location. We didn't pay for breakfast this time as we had plans in town. This Hotel might not be the fanciest or most plush but for what you pay it's a great place. Good sized room, comfortable bed, reasonably well sized bathroom. Some Hotel parking at rear for a fee. Second time we have used this place.

Nothing
Friendly smiling staff great location. Room was clean and smelt fresh just a long walk from entrance. Building was lovely but looked a bit tired in places. Would definitely stay again.
How far it was to room 133 and could do with the hole fixed at back of our room door.
Staff and room were good, only fault was the noise from outside.
Being on the front of the hotel should have remembered to ask for a back room.
Likes the location.
The light in room were not any good, couldn't do any reading at night. No bar open. No cereal in morning. Charges for pizza to be delivered to room, never used service but thought was a bit much.
Clean , central and was exactly what I needed.
Location to everything
Pizza shop lol You need a map to find some of the rooms loads of stairs which for myself is NOT good 😐
Lovely old building , perfect location & spotlessly clean!
No criticism of the hotel at all but - WOW - was it loud outside! Was expecting a bit of traffic but hardly any all night. Did not expect the thumping bass from clubs until 5am! Earplugs were provided but I can't stand the feel of them so not much sleep!
Fantastic location, so close to the station. They also stored our bags the next day for a couple of hours after we checked out. It is an older Hotel that was once very grand. The breakfast was good. Rooms are a great big size with a cosy chair to sit in and plenty of room for your bags.
Window didn't really open very well and curtains very dirty and were torn. The road noise and the pubs next door and across the road could get very noisy I would imagine? We were there on a Monday night so didn't bother us just traffic noise.
Great location and price for a clean and simple room.
The shower was hard to work and no hair dryer.
Good location
noisy corridors
The staff were fantastic, the location was great, hotel was warm and had everything I needed
My bathroom smelt very strongly of cigarettes and the toilets in reception too.
Great location Good breakfast
Rooms very small furniture OLD and SHABBY We were on first floor however you had to walk up flight of stairs then walk down flight along a passage way before finding your room. If there was a fire it would be dangerous . They gave you ear plugs and you def need them noise at night time is very loud from pubs
Hotel close to all amenities
Room size, for three excellent
A little hot but fans were supplied
The location was ideal, 5 minutes walk from the train station and on the doorstep of many bars and restaurants. The breakfast was well worth the money, really enjoyed it.
Two things of which not much can be done, the hotel is very old which means the floor in the room creaks, but we knew that from a previous visit, and the rooms at the front of the hotel are directly opposite a few bars which are open till around 4pm, however, the hotel does provide earplugs. If you need a quiet room, book early and request one.
Central location, train station only 2 minutes walk. Breakfast adequate, room though basic was clean and comfortable. Overall our stay was great value for money.
Nice, budget hotel with friendly staff. Basic but comfortable and clean facilities.
Nothing
Good location.
Nothing really
Beautiful and central
Nothing it was all perfect for me
The location is excellent and our room was very comfortable.
Staff are very welcoming & the hotel is really nice
The only thing I didn't like was, the lift was broken at 1 point & we were on the 3rd floor, it was fixed really fast but not before a trip up 3 flights of stairs.
Room was big and comfortable
Noise from outside very loud noise with vehicles and people screaming and shouting until 5am poor sleep ever
Central location, good for station
Room felt like it was only one step removed from staying in a hostel, road noise outside window was terrible
Centrally located.for shops/pubs/train station with private carpark at rear..rooms made up on request...traditional interior lift to get to rooms staff helpful at reception...
Getting charged by carpark for parking car when had already given registration into reception
Breakfast was fine with helpful staff
We were put in room 113 and never told it was going to be horrendous noise till 3am from nightclub across the road.
Old style hotel with some great features. Not the best location in Carlisle. Carlisle cathedral amazing and organ recital taking place. Well worth a visit.
Upgraded to superior room. Unfortunately dark and dingy with a view of a shed roof out of the window. However the room was quiet at night.
Location
Out dated and grubby hotel
Good location and slow dogs to stay
Was very shocked being supplied with ear buds for the loud music. Shouting
Nothing
The next use was awful outside & also inside, they provided ear buds but the bags were open
Location, staff
Lift didn’t seem work. Shower had no water pressure and temperature control wasn’t good
The shower was very powerful, the breakfast was good
No plug sockets near the bed
Great location
Room very small & dated
Well prepared room.
Shower control Room very warm. Bit stuffy. Didn't sleep very well even with window open and fan on
Wow the location was fantastic location right in the town centre . Breakfast was one the best ever had could not rate that any higher . The entrance hall was beautiful and the stair case possibly from sister ship of the Titanic so the historic board but no prove .
Noise from the streets below .
Aparte bedden
Badkamer
Room we had was next to a main road at traffick lights .constant flow of traffic through out the night.
The noise
Huge room Comfy bed Great location
Noise however earplugs were provided which was great
The bathroom was dated & decor tired. I stayed there on a Saturday night & the street noise & banging music from the ‘Vodka House’ opposite till 2am was awful. Staff were unhelpful when I asked upon arrival for a room away from Main Street. Very poor value for money & I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.
See above
Das Zimmer war ungepflegt bis dreckig, fleckiger Teppich, besudelte Möbel und schlecht gemachte Betten. Das Haus ebenso. Wir sind nach dem Chekin sofort wieder raus ... nie wieder!
Happy with the stay, nice and clean room. Was in the eaves so just had to be careful if tall. Large bathroom, and characterful in an older building.
There was limited plugs around the room.
The location was perfect, practically in the centre of Carlisle. The rooms were comfortable & clean, the breakfast were excellent, any food intolerances being catered for. The staff were very helpful, giving advice about where to eat, and queries about where to buy essentials. It is a listed hotel & as such is a bit of a warren, anybody with mobility problems should advise the hotel when booking, they will try to accommodate.
The hotel is in the centre of Carlisle, morning deliveries to surrounding businesses were better than an alarm clock.
Location. Very comfortable bed. Spacious room. Excellent shower. Excellent breakfast
No view from room but no great problem for us.
I just love the location
I had a good stay so I can't answer the question
This is a gem of a hotel,a grand old building, room was first class,no noise. The staff were lovely they are a credit to the Hotel.
The room was huge! Comfortable bed, and armchairs to relax in too.
Being so central in Carlisle the street noise was quite loud, and even with the windows shut right it was still a bit loud. They did provide us with earplugs - waiting on the best side table didn't have to ask for them, so I reckon it's a known problem. Can't be helped I suppose.
Very central and hence super convenient. Friendly staff and spacious bathroom
The location
The lift didn't work most of the time. The breakfast was cold and limited choice, no fried eggs or vegy sausage.
Location and breakfast.
Cleaning of rooms not great had to ask for towels after 2nd day out of 4
Staff excellent 👏, nice & clean 👌
Location
Wasn't the cleanest
Old and tired
Couldn’t close the windows and very noisy into very early hours of the morning from a pub/nighclub. The supplied earplugs helped.
Great nights stay and breakfast
Clean and comfortable older style pub I could see from the photos what I was getting.
Nothing
Location
Noise from nightclub until dawn!
The central location and the price of the room.
