Room was clean and comfortable Location was excellent Breakfast was excellent and staff serving breakfast were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
Nothing, hotel looks it liked needs some refurbishment in some area.
Central location
Would have preferred to have been in the main hotel and not the annex.
Location was perfect from train station 5mins…. Shopping centre close, close to bars & restaurants
Lovely old building & very friendly helpful staff
Everything.. stunning with. Extremely heloff staff
Over all appearance of the hotel, it's location and the friendly staff all great. Some minor items showing their age, floor tiles in the bathroom, shower curtain rail and the wardrobe upper trim. It was all clean and in good over all repair for it's age ... we would stay again 🙂
Just the 3 items mentioned above, wardrobe trim, bathroom floor tiles which were cracked, and shower curtain rail which was rusty.
Good location, free parking and great historic connections. Easy walking to both the castle and city centre
Excellent position, great staff.
The location was right in the heart of the old area.
We were quoted $12.50 for the laundry and were then charged $15.
Ideal location
Car parking
The breakfast was great couldn’t fault it And the host at breakfast think she was Scottish Excellent very attentive
Location is excellent
Well situated hotel with plenty of amenities. Free car park is a bonus.
Very grand and great location. Very nice and generous breakfast with friendly staff. Free carpark.
The bedroom in the annexe was a bit small especially getting out of bed on one side.
The was so noisy with no sound insulation from the corridor or bangs from other doors and the windows kept no noise out especially the bell from the nearby building chiming on the hour. Horrendous.
Location, room was lovely, the breakfast was good too
staff and location
Room was fullnof wasps
Hotel spotless, including rooms. Staff very attentive, cheerful and helpfull
Beautiful great building built on the site of an old stagecoach Hotel, I was used as a refuge journey the Jacobite rebellion. Staff for lovely friendly and very helpful
My only concern was. Being told our room was in the car park annex not in hotel that we had booked, however, after complaining and escalating to the general manager, we were given a room in the hotel which did spoil it initially.
Alles! Jederzeit gerne wieder!
Staff very helpful and friendly
Nothing
The friendly welcoming Receptionist
Our room was cold. I turned the radiator ip to full, but only a trickle of heat came through
Location
Very much in need of renovation
Room was excellent .Really clean and fresh. The hotel is located in a really central location
Great location
Could do with king size beds
Wow, fabulous hotel. Very grand, felt luxurious. Handy location, 5 mins walk from train station and in town centre. Room was quiet and comfortable, spotlessly clean.
Good variety to choose from. Nice surroundings. Helpful staff
The hotel was clean , with friendly staff. I like that at night you had to call to get someone to let you in ,felt safe . Perfect location
There wasn't anything I didn't like
The beautiful interior, the location, excellent food, friendly staff, jacuzzi too.
The location was great, right in the city centre.
Parking was awful. I am registered disabled and even though I notified the hotel of this, we had to park in a public car park as the tiny hotel car park was full. The listing stated accessible parking, I would disagree with this. I found the whole parking situation a struggle and would not stay here again because of this
Great location althoigh extremely difficult to find
'Double' room had an extremely small queen bed which was difficult for 2 people to share. It smelt completely sterile that it made us feel sick Extremely stuffy - had to sleep with window and curtains open to try and get some breeze Over powering shower in the tiniest bath tub with a temperamental temperature which left us burning ourselves turning the shower on and off.
Happy place 🎉
Good location. Reception fine. Rooms rather tired in appearance
Quality of the decor / sound from neighbours in next room… was like they were in our room!
Location and staff and outside of building
Hard mattress & pillows
The character and staff
Nothing
Great location .. nice rooms
Room a bit far from reception but generous breakfast
Only there overnight, stop en route
Everything great location and the room was excellent.
Nothing
Helpful staff night staff.
Location, comfortable.
Dated, worn in parts. Awoken by somebody coming into room at 7am.
Lovely hotel right in centre
Was disappointed there was no water in the room
Staff were friendly, easy to check-in. Location was perfect, easy walk to cathedral and shops etc.
The room could do with a little updating
Everything, lovely room and a smashing breakfast
An excellent central location and a beautiful old building - a great antidote to bland edge of town chain hotels. The room was clean, the staff at reception were helpful and the stay was good value for money. I would most certainly stay there again
The staff were lovely. Great location.
A bit tired could do with being done up a little.
We liked the decor, period character and comfort offered by this traditional hotel right in the heart of the town. What really made it special was the friendliness of every member of staff. Thank you!
Perhaps the breakfast could have been extended slightly, but we never felt we had to rush away.
Zimmer gross mit Sicht auf Hauptplatz, ruhig
Clean and comfy hotel. Breakfast was great, good selection and hot.
No air con and it was incredibly warm day/night.
Zentral, groß, alles vorhanden, Zimmer waren groß und gemütlich.
Etwas in die Jahre gekommen
Location Club room v nice
It was a great location and an ok stay for one night. The usb charger port sadly wasn't working and when reported to reception no active help was provided nor room was changed to one that could accommodate the charging. In terms of comfort - the bed was great. The hygiene levels could be improved especially in the bathroom.
Private parking , central location, handy for every
Nothing
Everything Location was perfect And staff were terrific
Nothing
A beautiful place to stay right in the heart of Carlisle. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this hotel
Nothing to not like
Lovely quality hotel, clean in lovely ideal location.
Liked everything ‘cept the slow ancient but characterful lift! Quaint!!
Great location, everything you need and more.
Nothing
Great to have a swimming pool. Very comfortable bed.
Didn't like sink in the bedroom rather than the bathroom.
Really lovely hotel. Much better than expected for the price
Nothing
The pool the bar and the location
Didn't get breakfast for the price paid
Shelly and her staff are fab!! So welcoming and helpful Room was spotless , nice view over the railway
Just no free parking but wasn't really an issue, plenty of places surrounding
From an opulent era = fantastic Edwardian building - hosted Woodrow Wilson no less! - but now looking tired!. Could do with more staff and some money spent on this old girl.
Staffing!. only one girl in the restaurant most of the time with the very occasional visit from another. She was taking orders serving drinks etc. - too much for one person as things were forgotten!!. Extra veg ordered came when I'd almost finished my meal - asked for mint sauce to accompany the ordered lamb which didn't appear!. I have to clarify as the girl member of staff was doing a good job overall but the restaurant was full and clearly too much for one person to run.
Tolles Hotel.
Very convenient for the centre of Carlise, handy parking.
The room was great. The car park was secure . The breakfast was very tasty and amazing value. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Nothing I can think off
Ok
The cleanliness of carpets paintwork and general condition of public areas
In centre of Carlisle
Lovely building, right in the centre of Carlisle. Lovely staff. The room we had was in the annex and was much nicer than the photos.
Minor issues, not worthy of a complaint. The fire alarm rang for a few seconds around midnight. Our room was 114, but on the second floor, which was a little counter intuitive. I am disabled, and the room was a long walk for me at least from reception. I may have forgotten to mention on the booking though, so that might be my own fault. Parking is a bit of a pain, but not the end of the world.
Central location.
Nothing. All good
Cleanliness, friendly and professional staff. I loved the fact that the hotel is old but atmosphetric. Great central location but still quiet
Thete was nothing I didnt like
Clean , helpful staff
Central location
Our small double room was good value for money in such a smart hotel, given we weren't spending much time in our room. The Edwardian style of the hotel, combined with modern facilities, was very attractive. The location right in the centre of Carlisle, and about 7 mins walk from the train station, was brilliant.

Staff are friendly
Clean and tidy rooms, free parking and good breakfast
Lighting in bar and breakfast area outdated.
Por sorte o funcionário me emprestou o dele.
Lounge and bar were nice
Room’s dated
Absolutely nothing.
Didn’t even stay on the main hotel we got stuffed into an annex in the carpark stinking of smoke, wafer thin walls with dogs barking and people shouting til 2am.
location good. didn't eat at hotel.
Bar prices compared to local high.
Central location and friendly staff
Standard double room was dated and bathroom needs replaced window was very old
The location and the hotel was big, clean and staff wonderful
Nothing
A nice old building with lots of character
Water for shower was not very warm. I could hear someone snoring so sound proofing not great although understand it’s an old building. Doors slammed shut when people going in and out their rooms so could maybe do with something to control that a bit.
Staff lovely. Hotel spotless. Beds lovely. My 3rd visit so will be back soon
Everything was great
Very inviting and lovely staff
All hiid
Location was very convenient to the centre of town and that it had a lift.
Some things in the room were in need of updating but on the whole it was fine for the few days we stayed.
Affordability , location and clean
The room is quite small , and the bed was more like a queen than double.
Staff were very helpful and professional training was evident.
The shower was antiquated and difficult to use. Shower curtains need replacing with a better option, they stick to your body and are unhygienic. Bedside plug sockets would be welcomed.
Lady on reception was welcoming
Room lovely and spotless also had a swim and used jacuzzi
The hotel was spotless and clean
The staff when we arrived at 3 pm we were told our room would be 10 mins amd to wait in the bar and they would get us an hour and 10 mins later my husband asked to speak to the manager we had not even been offered a tea or coffee after he complained they offered us a free drink
Friendly hotel with small swimming pool, good central location. Meal in restaurant very good.
We booked a small double and it wasnt in the main hotel it was at the back through the car park and it was a rather small room although ok for one night.
Breakfast was good well cooked and plenty of choice.
Bath & toilet need revamping headboards a bit iffy
Nettes Personal, top Lage gutes Frühstück.

The staff, the customer service, the location, the breakfast
It was all great!
Excellent staff, friendly, helpful and cheerful. Our room was excellent and the location was great.
Pool could be updated
Excellent service and welcome at an ideally located hotel
Right in the city with free parking & electric car charging.
Nothing.
A good choice.
The location
Room dated and shabby. Very noisy throughout the night. Breakfast was very poor service. We were put in the "overflow " room. After brushing crumbs off the chairs we were directed to tea and toast was brought to the table. No milk, no butter. After 20 minutes and asking twice it was brought to us, by which time the toast was cold and tea stewed. Then we were informed breakfast was self service in the room next door despite there being a menu on the table.. On leaving the "overflow" room my husband noticed a large greasy mark on the back of my trousers from the dirty chairs. We spoke to Daniel, the duty manager, at check out. His attitude left a lot to be desired, rude and arrogant. We will not return to this hotel nor recommend it to others.
Location
Rude bar staff
Handy for everything
