Window blind was broke and it wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. Bathroom had hair in the tub and shavings around sink.

$75 dollar pet fee? I booked a hotel that allowed pets and there's an additional fee?

I was chatged a destination fee which gave ne $10 food and beverage credit. No one on staff told me so I lost it. Teribbke customer service

Location, design, beds

What a below average experience. For the over inflated prices for graduation they could surely offer more. For starters the room was filthy and had to be cleaned after check in. The rooms were not serviced (see pics of beds after service). After numerous complaints there was no appropriate correction or acknowledgement. It was graduation weekend and all that was on offer was a free coffee on the weekend. And yes the location is noisy. And yes the location is great!

Graduate/Hilton should be ashamed of this property. About the only nice thing I can say is room was clean (if dated with only dish tv). I’ve stayed at graduate properties in princeton uva and um and expected a like experience esp for the price ($250 for a sleepy midweek stay). Not so here. Entry way is downright depressing, only one of three elevators working, elevators in very poor shape/dingy, breakfast area uninviting and lousy hotel coffee (for $5.) Oh and construction on all sides of the hotel meant a 7am wake up call to plates being dragged and jackhammers etc. Stayed here in a pinch based on reputation and without enough research. Won’t make that mistake again.

Decor was pleasant and interesting, and we enjoyed staying in the suite. Everything was there at the ready for us. We ate at the restaurant several times, which was super convenient - especially for breakfast. Staff were all friendly and eager to assist.

The room could have been a notch cleaner around the edges. Dusty corners and areas that needed attention would be made the stay a “10”.

Great location & easiest parking in State College!

The coffee situation could be better - free, fresh, good coffee in the lobby would make The Graduate a perfect hotel in my opinion.

Very nicely updated hotel, modern rooms, clean, well decorated. Great views of “old main” from oneside of the hotel. All that said the walls are paper thing and the windows offer no noise control. It’s right in the downtown in the middle of the college bars. Go into it knowing it will be very loud, I had to break out my ear plugs to get any sleep. If you’re out in the bars, sleep like a rock, or are ok wearing earplugs it’s a great hotel.

Visiting Penn State and stayed at The Graduate. Loved the themed hotel. Very lovely staff.

One night stay for PSU visit . I knew it would be an older hotel, room was mostly as expected. I felt like there was a lot of “fabric” in the room - throw blanket on each of the beds, long Penn State decorative pillows, thick fabric box spring cover. Some may really enjoy the decor but less is more for me. No Keurig but an electric kettle pot. Shower was VERY slow to drain, did mention to staff upon check out. Next time I would stay further out from campus to have a more updated feel of hotel room and have access to complimentary coffee in lounge area Ended up using parking lot on campus during visit so essentially paid for parking twice - hotel and campus. -Personal preference.. If you like “charming” hotels , I would recommend. Front desk staff were very friendly.

The price - yikes - but we get it...

Breakfast was included in our booking but staff said it was not. A 5$ discount was given instead. Moreover at check in, there was indifference in how this issue was handled. It required multiple interventions later. I dont know why people work in the hospitality industry when they are not even smling or hospitable.

Better service, more hospitable staff and quick service.

The view ( but we were not in the room during the day ) and the thermostat did not function to our desired temperature but we were comfortable.

Shabby. Dirty upholstery and carpets. Smelly. Bleach. Aircon smelt. Overpriced. Ran out of coffee!

The hotel is great! Walkable to everything. Staff was great, room was great.

The reason I didn’t give it a really high score is not the hotels fault. The fire station is right next door and it kept us up when the fire trucks would go by several times a night. We could also hear people outside all hours of the night. The walls are very thin so you can hear everything making it very hard to sleep. Do not book a room facing the street! Bring ear plugs

Great location for visiting your Penn State student. Easy parking and comfortable beds. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was comfortable and very clean, with nice decorations that made it feel welcoming. The location is great. It’s close to plenty of restaurants and bars, and having a grocery store and gym nearby was really convenient. Overall, a pleasant and easy stay.

I like the way the halls and rooms are decorated. Check in was very easy. The beds were comfortable. Since we booked through a 3rd party, our package included a $15 credit each for breakfast. We ordered off the menu, which I prefer to a buffet or continental breakfast. The restaurant had many coffee/latte options. My latte was just perfect! I would stay there again as long as the rate was kept low. The front desk and wait staff were super friendly and helpful.

The coffee is freeze-dried, to use with the supplied water kettle. I love that idea, but the coffee was terrible! There are better freeze-dried coffees out there. We were supposed to have water in our refrigerator but not really a deal killer. The bathrooms were lovely but was absolutely no where to put my toiletry bag. The sink was big but didn't have enough room on the edges to put anything. Also, when showering, there was nowhere to put the towel I intended to use afterwards. A few hooks, shelves, drawers and counter space would be helpful. The lobby and attached restaurant are very dark and not aesthetically pleasing, compared to the rest of the hotel. It felt like a cave in that area. (The 2 large lobbies on the other side of the check in desk are very nice.)

This was such a great hotel! Located in downtown State College, you’re walking distance to campus as well as all of the restaurants and bars downtown. The hotel is brand new and feels it, the rooms are very clean and have all the amenities you could want. Only docked one star because there were no king beds available. Overall I’d be happy to stay here again!

Our room was clean and well-decorated. We enjoyed the hotel's well-appointed common areas in the lobby. However, our hotel stay felt very basic despite the high per-night rate (& it wasn’t even a football weekend). The extra self-parking fee was annoying, but the destination charge was ridiculous. State College, lovely as it is, isn't NYC! I understand it counts as a food-and-beverage credit, but I didn't really want to eat at your hotel.

Amazing location in the heart of State College. Rooms were fantastic and beds were comfortable. My one complaint is the trash being picked up Friday morning and Saturday morning over a half hour. Starting at 7 AM it was so loud in my room. This happened the last time i was here. Maybe thats why they provide a sound machine. Super loud and woke up early all stay…bummed.

We were in town for a volleyball game and stayed for one night. Hotel is located in a great location. Very walkable to most of the campus. Room was clean and we had no problems. We did not eat in the restaurant so can't comment on this. Stay was a little pricey but then what isn't these days. Was a good experience overall.

I stayed at the Graduate State College twice in the past few months. Staff is very friendly. Hotel is unique — love the college theme and quirky details. Walkable to the heart of State College. Easy parking under the building. Elevators are old and clanky, and access to guest floors is not restricted to key-holders, but that didn’t bother me.

Unique hotel located right off college ave and convenient to lots of eateries. Large nice room, great water pressure in shower. However almost slipped in shower because of slippery flooring. No water or any complimentary offering at check in for Hilton member. Breakfast is definitely not what you expect from a Hilton. Lack of variety and not so good of quality. Booked through Expedia, very pricy compared to other nearby properties.

Large room but no attention to detail with regards to house keeping. We were on the 7Th floor but the noise from the road was ridiculous all through the night. Basically sounded like boy racers with hefty exhausts, loud enough it was waking us up. On a positive the reception staff were very friendly.

TV was broken

First hotel I’ve visited in twenty years where there are no staff in uniform, which is ok but gives the impression no one is in charge. No daily clean of your room. Bizarre hotel entrance which is more like the entrance to a car park than a hotel. Staff were lovely but the hotel needs a major overhaul.

Clean, lots of for water, comfy bed. Easy check in. Needs updating in common areas, much better lighting in parking garage.

Location was good ad offered parking and had a restaurant

Parking spaces were too small and not monitored per guest, as some cars were taking up two spaces on purpose therefore got away with it, air conditioning in the room did not run constant and was too hot in the room, the shower did not have a door and the water ran everywhere on the floor with the curtain, there was very little counter space on the sink for our personal items, a lot of dead space in the bathroom, which was an overall poorly functional design. The window curtain did not close all the way to provide room darkening for us, which was also a negative.

We were extremely disappointed in the service in the Trophy room. servers were so slow, I waited sitting at bar for 15 min without anyone even saying I will be right with you, we got up and walked down to federal taphouse It was very surprising. I have stayed at the Hyatt in past and will say that is the BIGGEST difference between the two hotels. Very disappointed

Always excellent to stay here for our visit to Penn state. That garage though! We rented a large SUV and boy is it tight! Those spots are tiny! Besides that it’s a beautiful quaint hotel! Love staying here.

Nice stay

The hotel is in a fantastic location and was largely clean. Given the central location it was very loud with people walking/talking loudly outside late into the night and garbage trucks early in the morning. Additionally, the elevators desparately need to be repaired/replaced. Not sure I would pay the premium to stay here again.

This is a fantastic property with college themed rooms that really make the experience fun. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. The only negative is that the elevators are not working great and could definitely be updated for better customer service. We will be back soon.

This is a very convenient property close to campus and downtown. The decor is fun, and the rooms are very nicely appointed and roomy. Free parking is a plus. However, be forewarned that the elevators are VERY slow. Also, I ate dinner one night at the bar, and the food was BELOW average so take advantage of other nearby options.

Everything about The Graduate (formerly Atherton Hotel) was wonderful. There's a feeling of both sophistication and school spirit permeating the atmosphere. Best of all are the little personal touches, like one bed having a pillow stitched "We Are..." and the pillow on the other bed stitched "...Penn State!" It doesn't feel like the generic hotel chains at all.

Really lovely room, great facilities and comfortable modern lobby. Kitchenette was a great little bonus though I didn’t use it. Fab overhead seemed at first to be really strong but was pretty quiet though the night. My stay at this hotel pinned it for my future stays in State College!

Loved the decor. Lots of thought put into it. Hated that there is no maid service. No dining, only a bar. Very tight parking spaces that I had to pay for each night, but they have no liability. Too many added charges and hidden fees.

Great location - short walk to PSU, restaurants and stores. Hotel has PSU decor - really cute. Staff very friendly. Hotel very clean. I would definitely book here again.

To be fair, I believe we were there during a huge employee issue. The first night the restaurant closed down early with a very disgruntled employee getting upset and vaguely making threats or unwell wishes as he quit. The second night as we returned there was a heavy police presence blocking the entrance causing us to figure out parking alternatives. While we were there the front desk was unattended at least once with no indication of when someone would return and overall employee interaction was sub par throughout the visit. Again perhaps because of the incident the night before. We will be visiting the area frequently in the next few years and will not be back to this hotel as the vibe was very uncomfortable. I was told the manager would contact me to reassure me, but I never heard anything. My husband wasn’t on the trip, just me and my teenage son. The overall hotel was ok. The room decor was adorable and the room itself was very clean. Pillows were fantastic.

Staff was super helpful and friendly. Cafe is a must. Nailed the decor!

Overall a good hotel for a college town. Breakfast was not great, but room was good.

I really liked the décor and location of this hotel, and the staff was incredibly friendly at check-in. Our room was spacious and, like the rest of the hotel, nicely decorated. Unfortunately, cleanliness was a major issue. The baseboards were coated in dust and pet hair, and the entry closet had noticeable "tumbleweeds" of dust and debris in the corners. The bathroom was especially disappointing, with urine stains under the toilet lid caps and even on the wallpaper. We also chose not to use the pull-out couch after discovering hair on the mattress. To make matters worse, the bathtub wouldn't drain at all. I reported this to the front desk, and while they were apologetic and said maintenance would be sent, no one ever showed up before we checked out. This hotel has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it fell short, especially considering the price we paid.
