Bathroom and room lighting
Great
Nothing
Breakfast was mediocre for the price
Bug found in the bathroom, 1 bedroom suite turned out to be a room divide by a short wall. I heard my husband snoring all night. Paid half the price for a beautiful suite in Halifax.
Large room comfortable bed. Friendly staff
The room was located through the court yard in an obscure spot. It was rm 367 I think. The door had to pulled on very hard/ slammed to shut it completely. In the morning after the fire alarm at 4 AM I went for breakfast at 9:57 got coffee and then went to get food, however the door was closed , I asked and the gal said it closed at 10 it was 10:01 by her watch. I felt in light of the fire alarm the breakfast could have been extended.
Very clean and comfort.
Noting
this Hotel was a first time visit. i would gladly visit it again, great location , excellent staff.
nothing , everything was perfect.
This hotel was great to stay with the family. The pool was really clean and the bedrooms were nice. We had a deck off our bedroom which was great. The breakfast is very basic but fills up two teenage boys no problem.
The staff was super friendly, and the price was very reasonable. The breakfast/brunch was great and very convenient, which made our stay even better. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again. The only issue we experienced was with the pool. The waterslide was broken, and the chlorine/chemical levels seemed quite strong, which made the pool experience a little less enjoyable. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay!
A 10-15 minute drive to the downtown, we were on a bus tour, so this wasn’t a big problem for us. As the bus dropped us off and picked us up later. We had time to get supper and have a walk around the downtown. We went to the theatre, while there, nice theatre. The hotel is looking a little tired, our room was clean and comfortable. Just one elevator, but there is only 3 floors. I took the stairs several times, it was easy enough. There is a bar and restaurant, breakfast was a buffet, and was ok. The bar was only open from 5.00 pm -09.00 pm. So our first night it wasn’t available for us to use. When we were there a junior ball team and families were also staying. So, the indoor pool was getting used. They wasn’t too much noise in the hotel.
Their was carpet in the room. One of the beds made noise when my daughter moved in the bed. The curtains did not close well. It made the room bright.
Just spent three nights at this hotel as we had to visit the veterinary hospital. We really appreciated the special rate and the convenience of being close to the hospital. The free breakfast was a bonus. The staff were all so friendly, and the restaurant food was also quite good. The room we had was not the greatest, as the only window looked out onto a dark courtyard which offered no privacy so the curtain had to be kept closed, that along with the poor lighting in the room made the room dark and gloomy. Not great for mood, as it was already a rough time with our little cat. I might consider this hotel if we need to return, but only if there is a room with natural light. If I might offer a suggestion it would be better lighting in the room and or a privacy tint on the window.
Reeks of cigarette smoke and chlorine. Although there’s a sign posted not to smoke near doorways, there are also ashtray next to all the doors right outside the rooms. Clean, but stinky. Air conditioner was old and loud. Dated. Costs way too much for what it is. Spend the extra little to stay at one of the nearby hotels.
Front Desk wonderful! Rooms need updating. TV in our room was a computer monitor (not good). Pool chemicals were so strong that it was not inviting. Pool slide was out of service, so was many other things. To get to our room you had to go down a hallway though a dark conference room to an old door up the old carpeted stairs...to another hallway that looked like an reno went bad. Our room was old and the toilet wasted a lot of water as it just kept running. This hotel needs updating!!
The room size was great for the amount of people we had
Couldn’t check in until 5pm kept saying a “maintenance issue” then we were told the water slide was out of service.
Emplacement
Close to airport, shopping, and easy parking
The facilities are dated, and the pool slide was out of order during the entire stay.
Nothing satisfies me
Close to local amenities
The water slide was out of order, the gym equipment was out of order, the games room had 2 games and was extremely disappointing. Not as advertised. The only reason we booked here was for those things. Very expensive stay for a very basic hotel. Myself and the were disappointed
It was simple, not pretentious. It had on site washer/dryers.
I can’t think of any negatives.
Property was clean and room was a good size. Everything was up-to-date
There was no room safe
Was overcharged on my checkout bill then I had reserved on the Rodd website (before overcharge it wasn't cheap at $350 CDN) and the room had a "wet dog" smell.
Location
Not enough parking
Hotel was great for our family of 5. Some quirks in our room but you get that at lots of hotels. Staff was good to deal with. Breakfast was good. Lots of choices.
I loved the water slide and the pool. The pool was clean.
I stayed 3 nights. One day the room wasn't cleaned only towels was replaced and 1 out of 2 beds were made. Garbage was not taken out. The game room could have been more up to date with an Xbox or something.
Affordable and clean, great breakfast!
Great overall experience. Beds were comfortable, rooms clean, hot breakfast included, clean property, great location to stores and shops. Will definitely stay again when in PEI!
Comfortable rooms, and a reasonable breakfast. The hotel restaurant was good, although not open every night. The staff were extremely helpful. It's quite a way out of the city centre, but the staff will call you a taxi and it only costs around £7 to get to the "downtown" area.
Water slide for kid was good. Hotel very dated. Don’t bother getting up for the breakfast not worth getting up. No bacon and just such a let down compared to any other hotel. Over priced considering
Tout
Everything from booking to checkout was flawless. I booked our hotel as a block for a softball team. I had the Holiday Inn just up the road also booked but opted for the lesser price of Rodd Rotalty to save our families money. The Holiday Inn was not eager to take us anyways and difficult to communicate with which is why I ended up looking elsewhere. The only bad review that stood out about the Rodd that made me apprehensive was that the pool was too cold. Our group of 9-11 year olds plus other family wouldn’t get out of the pool because it was so warm and the slide was amazing! This hotel was the cleanest hotel I have ever been in. We constantly saw cleaning staff in the halls and they were also very friendly. We also asked if it be possible to start their breakfast earlier to accommodate our early ball schedule and they did both Saturday and Sunday for us. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The rooms were great! Soap smelled amazing and beds were very comfortable
Room was very nice and clean with nice fresh linens and comfortable bed Excellent breakfast and staff
The musty smell in the room probably caused by a dirty loud air conditioner blowing air right at the bed. We didnt expect this with the high price we paid. We couldn't leave it on. There was only one window that opened. No air. Too hot to sleep If not for this, I would of rated this facility 5 stars It's too bad they don't invest in better AC. We would not return because of this We had booked online. Our room was in a seperate building with a direct walk in to our room
Close to airport and large shopping centres
Age of the facility- stayed in a drive in unit outside of the main hotel bldg- did not know this was an option- good for 1 night stay
I have stayed at the Rodd Royalty before on business trips to Charlottetown and was feeling welcomed and special. The manager once told me they would always greet me at the Rodd and that I could pay the incidental deposit by cash or debit as I do not have a credit card and the room is booked through my company. Well not anymore, they make you feel less than a guest and unwelcomed now as they are refusing debit/cash deposit no matter the amount. They made me feel inferior for not owning a credit card. The room is prepaid. They allowed for this time my 200$ deposit but I was advised that I would not be welcome anymore. I don’t see what all the fuss is about, There are no furniture in that outdated room worth 200$. This very basic room cost me over 300$. I think this is ridiculous. I have been travelling everywhere in New Brunswick, I have been to the Algonquin Resort, a highly rated hotel and was welcomed and still very much appreciated without a credit card deposit. I’m willing to pay whatever amount is needed for deposit but I suppose this is not enough for them. I will not be coming back I will be using Airbnb whenever I go to PEI from now on and I travel there once a month. I was going to make this hotel my go-to because I enjoy the pool and amenities . They lost my business.
Old tired hotel in need of a refresh or renovation. On the main strip near highway. Small rooms bad coffee and no accessible
On a pas reçu de message de Booking depuis qu’on a réservé ni de l’hôtel!!! Résultat:on a perdu notre réservation, le service laisse à désirer… Nul
Perfect hotel for business travel as it is close to many commercial businesses with easy access to highway. For leisure travel I prefer the Rodd Charlottetown in the heart of the city.
This hotel is really one of the better ones we stayed with during this excursion. The staff, all the staff, we professional and full of genuine smiles. Definitely one to return to in the future.
Breakfast was great. Scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. Sausage was perfect. Juice was good and coffee was perfect.
Ensure you are not in the circle suites! These are in major need of repairs and updating. Spiders and their nests in the long dark hall to get to the rooms of those suites. Do not recommend.
24 hour friendly and helpful service. Good location. Visited to find our dream home - which we did! Would definitely recommend!
Great location
Great location, great breakfast variety.
The bed was really soft - not very comfortable. No counter space in the bathroom.
L’emplacement.
Pas de service en français.
10 Star The Hotel is so clean my room was spotless 136, lots of Towels etc. I was welcomed by Kristen on May 17th, my room was so clean and bedding looked new. Long story short - the staff were so helpful as well the Breakfast was excellent and everything was fresh. SO - THANKS to the manager who is running this Hotel, I will be back at some point. Key thing I noticed were the kids and parents - everyone were in a special holiday place. It was off season so the price was low and appreciated, the big difference were the staff, I live in the GTA Toronto actually quite a bit north in Barrie. I have travelled a lot Europe, Asia etc. I don't normally write reviews like this but it is important for familes that are travelling in Charlottotown. Great swimming pool with a 2 storey tunnel that ends in the deep end. (Please remember this summer water wings for kids .. life preservers etc. my son almost drowned 2 feet from me in a swimming pool). Have a safe 2026 summer !
It was clean and the accessibility room was spacious and the bathroom and shower were great for someone with mobility issues. The lobby and breakfast area was comfortable. The staff were always friendly.
Clean room. Soft sheets, comfortable beds, shower head was high and pressure was good. The AC worked great- we like a cool room to sleep.Breakfast options were decent. The set up of the one bedroom suite was good for our family with young kids who go to bed earlier than us. We were able to play cards in the sitting room after they went to bed.
Breakfast ended a bit to early for vacationers. Breakfast ending at 930a for our jet legged group was tough. Having it on until 10am would have made a huge difference. More dairy free options such as having a non-dairy milk for cereal would be nice.
Location
Overall, it was a great experience, but the hot breakfast was neither hot nor appealing. They might want to consider using the on-site restaurant to provide a better breakfast. I’ve stayed there many times over the past 15 years for work.
They put me in an out building and it was stinky. The bathtub was old and has been painted. Bathroom door would not close. Bed mad a noice when you moved on it.
See above ⬆️
Charlottetown rodd was a good stay until the front desk worker yelled out my full name and room number at 2 am, ended up not feeling to comfortable
Room had hair in the bed. Went to resteraunt and the food was cold.
Room was dirty. Paid for a loft room. Not pleased
It was located very close to all amenities in Charlottown.
My son broke his toe in the pool because a drain was not secured safely in place. When we told the staff they did just say "oh" but didn't ask if there is anything they can help us with or if we need anything. They generally didn't really care that he had an accident. Yes the pool is on "use at your own risk" but they could have at least shown compassion for my child!
Breakfast was ok. Not enough gluten free options
Not enough parking
Not pleased. I have stayed at this hotel for over 5 years. They had a dart event there the same weekend. The whole hotel smelled like cigarettes and beer. People were smoking by the front door all day long. Which i then had to walk through with my children. I checked out early because it was such a bad experience
Close to the airport
It was perfect!
Hotel is looking a little dated, but rooms were clean and comfortable. Excellent value for your money. First evening was some noisey (due to some kids hockey teams being there for a tournament). Wally's Restaurant was great. All staff were outstanding.
Location, and the staff
Old, needs a renovation, but was clean
The following is the review of our stay at your hotel April 3rd and 4th, 2026 as per survey request. We arrived shortly after 2pm and were greeted at check in by Christine who was lovely and we give her an excellent rating on her abilities and help during our first night stay. Upon arrival to the room the hand wash was empty. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 toddlers. The heat rad end cover next the tub was rusted and bent outwards causing a safety hazard to clients, whereas one could easily cut themselves. Not enough towels or facecloths so a call to the front desk. The bathroom walls and other areas of the room were disgustingly dirty along with the floors as after a couple hours the toddlers socks and slippers were filthy, as all outdoor footwear was removed upon entering the room. We proceeded to enjoy the pool whereas it was cold and after a very short time had to remove the toddlers due to being so cold they were actually turning purple with teeth chattering. I informed the front desk and she was having maintenance check it out, the next day of our stay no change in pool temperature and the big reason we had booked at your hotel as the children love the water . As the evening progressed we had to contact the front desk on four occasions, firstly a group of the maritime girls hockey approximately 25-30 were in the courtyard supposedly playing games whereas the girls were screaming so loading the toddlers were upset assuming someone was hurt, the second was a group of children approximately 12 running and screaming in and around the tables in the courtyard, the noise continued with a group of adults sitting in the corner of the courtyard drinking laughing and being loud and this continued. Until 1am, when security removed them they returned to their rooms down the way from us and turned their music as loud as possible, clearly the first day was a night from hell. We spoke to the front desk to try and have us moved the following day so we may have some peace and quiet and possibly a cleaner room, and to note we wished to speak to the manager. The front desk clerk found an opening in a loft on the third floor whereas it was tight as we required two cots to fully accommodate sleeping arrangements. Prior to the move a young lady approached us at our first room, coffee in hand quite rushed as must have just arrived to work, took off her coat (around noon) failed to introduce herself, her opening line was we had requested to speak to her and wanted to know what had happened. She wasn’t the least empathetic or apologetic merely questioning that it made us feel our complaints were not worthy. She repeatedly informed us to move as quickly as possible so housekeeping could clean the room as she was sure to be seeking it for Saturday evening. We were waiting on the front desk to inform us the room was ready for us to move as we were packed and ready a couple hours prior to this ladies arrival. Clearly is not the gal for frontline position to deal with unhappy clients. With all the goings on in the courtyard and hotel on this particular weekend it was evident family rooms were not the place for families. Upon checkout for all the disruptions during our first night, the pool, etc. we received a $50 discount, which I feel is clearly an insult and in no way a sign of respect for us as clients. We will not be returning to your hotel and will be sure to complete all reviews on Yelp, Trip Advisor, Facebook and any others Rodd Hotels are affiliated with.
Location was good. Breakfast was good.
I requested an early check in, wasn’t sure if it was going to be possible. Was only able to check in an hour early. The tv system was not great, none of the channels we wanted to watch were available. The toom we were put in was subject to a lot of noise. There was belongings from previous guests left behind in our room.
The facilities were very clean and the staff was very friendly . Breakfast also had lots of options and variety .
The pool was overcrowded and there didnt seem to be anyone watching the lineups at the slide. Sometimes 4 or 5 people went at once and people.got hurt.
Our room was spacious, clean and conviently close to all the amenities in the building. Breakfast had a great selection and was hot.
There was a bit of noise pollution from other guests. Around bedtime. But it subsided quickly.
Belle qualité/prix Le personnel vraiment gentil
Tout était ok
the rooms did not have adjoining doors like we were told
Everything was great, room was clean, staff were fantastic. Breakfast was phenomenal every morning
Although it is an older style hotel, a bit of work around the pool and slide would make this a perfect rating. Just some paint touch ups is all
Everything is going good
Nothing
Breakfast was fantastic
Totally humiliated during check in because of my payment method. Room was mediocre at best. Clean but the bathroom fixtures were rusty and no matter what you did with the shower curtain, the floor flooded during every shower.
Mold in windows.
Nice hotel for kids. Room was spotless. Common areas need updating. Would be nice if the breakfast could have gluten free options for celiacs.
Needing a credit card to get in after I booked and paid in full
Perfect for families during hockey tournaments. Big space downstairs to play ministicks. Waterslide was also very popular.
We went with a hockey team and the staff was great allowing the parents to use the room downstairs. Even let us stay longer.
Calmness of the place
The more than 2 hours if electricity outage on Jan 11th 2026
Spacious room, nicely decorated and was glad to have the microwave, fridge , and coffee maker and supplies. Was pleased it was carpet free and had really good curtains. All the staff were really friendly. The pool was perfect for kids, and the biggest reason we stayed here. I also liked so many great options on the kid's menu. The buffet breakfast on Saturday was wonderful. My grandson loved the pancake machine. The outdoor decor was amazing!
I didn't realise that the restaurant wasn't open every night, so maybe put that on the website. Although the breakfast was great on Sunday, on Monday the food was not hot. Some extra cleaning needed in shower and on heaters. The air conditioner was quite noisy.
Bon service , très bon déjeuner

Areas to consider
Cleanliness
8.2/10Rooms and property were generally described as clean and comfortable, though a few guests reported a 'wet dog' smell, carpet in rooms, and one instance of missed housekeeping.
Service
9.5/10Staff were repeatedly described as helpful and easy to deal with (assisting with taxis, responsive at desk). There were isolated issues (check-in delays due to a maintenance problem), but overall service sentiment is strongly positive.
Location
9.5/10Consistently praised for proximity to airport, shopping, and local stores; convenient for families and visitors, though a few noted it is a bit out of the city centre with short taxi rides required.
Room Quality
7/10Room size and comfort were positives for many, but multiple comments noted dated rooms, noisy beds, curtains that didn’t close well, visible wear (carpet), and occasional unpleasant smells.
Amenities
7/10Mixed amenities: the pool and water slide were a draw for families when working, but several guests reported the water slide and some gym equipment were out of order; game room and breakfast facilities received mixed reviews; on-site laundry was a plus.
Value for Money
6.5/10Multiple guests felt the hotel was overpriced for what was provided, with at least one report of being overcharged; several described the stay as expensive for a basic/dated property.
Food and Beverage
8.3/10Breakfast was frequently called good and a highlight (hot breakfast, lots of choices) by many guests, though some found the breakfast disappointing or limited (e.g., no bacon) and the on-site restaurant not always open.
Overall Experience
8/10Overall impressions are mixed-to-positive: many guests said they'd stay again and praised cleanliness, location, and family-friendly features, while others were disappointed by dated facilities, out-of-service amenities, and value concerns.
