Great location
No breakfast available Rooms face street which can be noisy late at night and early in the morning due to deliveries
Location, food, staff, entertainment, cleanliness, comfort. Everything 😃
Nothing really but the room my husband and I had could have had another room key. Our bathroom was not in our room and when he went out to get something I could not even go to the loo. Not a criticism just an observation.
Welcoming staff, very friendly, large room, fluffy large bath towels. Quaint pub atmosphere. Great location.
No windows to look out of. All 3 windows were frosted glass and no view. Bed was lumpy and no breakfast available.
Our room was more spacious than expected. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming.
Great location in the middle of town, super easy check in and out. Room was very clean and as expected, beds were comfortable.
It is a little noisy as above the bars and restaurants in town but we knew that before booking so no surprise. That would be my only downside to The Anchor, but would definitely stay again!
Excellent location for what we needed. Clean and good facilities.
The room was very hot but it did have a fan available in the room as we count keep the window open due to the rain.
The food in the pub was great but the room was exceptionally good. Big. Spacious. Multiple beds. Nice big bath. Open windows. Great.
No breakfast option or limited accessibility for low mobile people. Lots of stairs.
Breakfast was not offered so I went elsewhere
It was all fine. A good, friendly place to stay while I met up with relatives. Not luxurious or ultra smart. The bed was comfie. The shower was excellent, I the water was hot and the place was clean. That was what I wanted.
The location was perfect for our needs. This is the second time we have stayed at the Anchor. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower facilities were perfect.
I could not find any negative points.
Location
It was in the right location, clean and staff friendly
I have stayed here four times and on this occasion the music and noise did not stop until 3 am and the dustman came at 6am.
Convenient for West Cowes ferry
Location means it’s incredibly noisy at night and early hours of the morning
Great value for money and convenient.
Nothing i didn’t like
Excellent location. Typical pub room. Would stay here again.
A little noisy from the street, but earplugs were supplied.
Friendly and location was great
Nothing
Friendly and helpful manager
couldnt leave bedroom window open all night since the hum of refrigeration was a bit noisy.
Very central for the town room was nice and quite big
The shower leaked needed a plastic strip on bottom of door
Could not be more central, rooms above busy pub. Staff welcoming and helpful, room clean, good linen, bottle water, coffee/tea in room, hairdrier en suite. Basic furnishings but, surrounded by shops, restaurants opposite Police station and Yacht Haven. Less than 4 mins walk from Red jet ferry. Many thanks.
Big rip in wallpaper, easily fixed.
Location in Cowes - stayed during Cowes Week, so ideal for day and evening entertainment.
Not a criticism because it was Cowes Week so you should expect noise in the street outside until the early hours. Ear plugs were supplied.
The location and staff were great, the room was surprisingly quiet even for a pub and good provision of amenities like tea/coffee.
Unfortunately the small rooms bathroom whilst private is actually not part of the room and instead down a short corridor, I was only there for one night so not a major but felt this could've been made clear on booking. Pretty sure this is only the case in this room though and not the others.
Great location, right in the town centre and near the ferry. Also close to island buses. Clean.
Many stairs to navigate to bedroom. Needs blackout curtains. No wardrobe. Room very hot. Unusually, no breakfast available but cafes nearby.
Not much
Tiny room, tiny bed.
Lovely pub, right in the middle of everything, however, it was surprisingly quiet in the room at night. Very friendly staff. We will definitely be returning.
Location
Advertised as en-suite, our room had separate bathroom down some stairs and along corridor, paint coming off in room, extremely hot as it’s virtually in the attic, beds to short for anyone over 6”2 and I am 6”4 , be prepared for sleepless night as even your feet cannot hang off the end of the bed.
Ligging hotel
WiFi ontvangst. Ruimte rondom bed
Location great
The friendliness of the staff and customers was very good as they were all welcoming & supportive. The atmosphere was comfy, friendly, warm and in a way hugging. The staff seemed to know the people who came through the door & were very welcoming to 'newies', making them part of the family.
Not that I didn't like it overall but the bedroom was small (can't be helped) but adequate in providing for needs of customers. The only main hassle I had was with the bed as, initially, I could not settle to the bed. I upended myself to have my head rest at the bottom of the bed to prevent myself falling down in the top left hand corner. THAT needs fixing. An old hotel is an old hotel and it had its old oldworld charm and friendliness. Just fix the bed. HE funnily enough could sleep well in it.
Very clean
Very central location, very serviceminded and nice personell. Nice to have the pub in the same house. Also very good location for the ferry and the bus to Newport
All very welcoming. Central and food was great !
Nothing
Great location, welcoming and friendly staff. The room was nice and comfortable and food was really good.
Central location opposite ferry port, ships, restaurants and beach/port . Clean and good quality sheets and towels.
We had a room on the 2nd floor with separate bathroom but this was reflective in the low price. We stayed 1 night during the week but I think it would be very noisy noisy on the weekend .
Proximity
Fan was a bit small for the size of the room. Shame they didn’t do breakfast!
The room is cleaned everyday, bathroom is good size, good value for money
Mattress is a bit too soft
Allowed bag drop off in morning and issued keys as we were not returning until very late. (IoW festival).
The shower head whilst working and with great temperature was split, resulting in spray going in all directions.
Location and the team/staff
Noise, we stayed in the Thames room, room above us was so noisy with banging and crashing stuff about (from 6am)… Unable to open the window fully because of the scaffolding (warm weekend) Bed mattress was very thin for the bed frame
Very friendly staff, good value for money, lovely breakfast and close to the shuttle bus for the IOW Festival
Nothing good vibes only
Location was great
Shower next door was loud
Clean, spacious, great location. Free bottled water.
Very cheap, harsh toilet paper. Socket for using hairdryer too far away from the mirror. Better mirror placement would help this issue.
Not much
Small bed, noisy.
Great location
All was great
Easy access to public transport links, cowes centre.
Location
I didn't realise I had a separate bathroom down the hallway. I would have preferred a private ensuite bathroom
Excellent central Cowes location above pub Very clean, comfy beds, smallish rooms but only booked small twin
The location is the best
The room was a bit hot and the street is very noisy very early in the morning due to deliveries in the street
Friendly, central, spacious room. Very quiet, despite a band playing.
Room was Chilly
Location was great, it is value for the price paid and true to other reviews. For us one night in the Isle it was perfect.
Nothing negative to say it was as it has been reviewed in past so as expected.
My room was comfortable and I had been upgraded because of a misunderstanding about storing my bike overnight. The windows were opaque, no view, but when I opened a window I realised that they overlooked pipes and backs of yards, not what one would want to look out on! It was a convenient place to stay overnight and very close to Red Funnel Ferries and the centre of town.
I had asked for safe storage of my bike overnight as I was on a cycling trip, however, I was directed to a lock-up facility on the harbour wall. I was anxious about using this but it turned out to be secure, though visible to passers-by. I was able to lock my bike to a metal frame and it was still there in the morning!
Well fitted and well maintained
Nothing, all good.
Excellent location, lovely old pub. Great price
Needs to use mould remover in shower and attach a towel rail need shower. No where to place towel for shower other than floor.
Beds were comfy and the shower was amazing!
Could do with black out curtains as the street lights projected alot of light into the room.
Excellent place, friendly staff on arrival, lovely pub good Guinness and the room would do anyone for the money
Nothing
Lovely big room, comfortable beds, great location
WiFi did not work in our room although it worked well elsewhere in the public areas of the venue
Warm welcome by the staff Great location Comfy bed Well filled hospitality tray
Situation, lovely weather and although a small room everything we needed
Cold tap turned the wrong way. Toilet door couldn't be shut, only with lock.
Central, comfortable and helpful staff
5am wake up with supermarket delivery few doors away
Central to Cowes, nice pub, friendly atmosphere.
The chair needs a bit of a clean.
Comfortable and clean
Being in top room after a few drinks to get to bathroom had to go through 2 doors which made a lot of noise which might upset other guests.
A very friendly welcome on arrival
Bedding was clean shame room wasn’t and bathroom shame as it’s such beautiful location great staff great room potential
This is my second time there. The rooms lovely and clean . The staff are grest and the food is really good and great value . It's also in a good place for everything
The only downside is there no car park. But that doesn't matter there is a big car park at the back not bad value for money .
staff were very friendly, great location. Private bathroom.
some of the lighting wasnt working and I feel the carpets needed a hoover. there were bits on the floor. apart from that it was very clean
Very convenient location for the marina and excellent value
A bit noisy from street and other residents
Spacious room, handy location central to Cowes
Only 1 room key allowed is ridiculous My wife ordered an Irish coffee at the bar and it came as a shot of whiskey with black coffee, no cream WI-FI inadequate didn’t work in the room
Location and bath was great
Not the cleanest in some areas
Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Vicino ai traghetti di West Cowes e alla bus stop per le altre destinazioni dell'isola. Zona con servizio. Struttura sopra la taverna per bere e mangiare. Camera pulita e confortevole.
Quasi inutile dire che manca il bidet
Excellent accommodation: cosy, spotlessly clean, great value for money. Central Cowes location was another plus, as it was perfect for browsing in shops, eating out, public transport, and being very close to the sea. Check-in was smooth and assistance was given with my luggage. Highly recommended.
Nice room good WiFi and comfy bed. Handy for ferry.
Breakfast would be nice.
Clean, good central location in Cowes
Basic room, items broken/ not working (bathroom vanity light) No hair dryer.
Great spot , excellent facilities. We only stayed for the one night but the room was large, a good supply of tea and coffee and we had a meal on arrival downstairs in the restaurant. Cant ask for for more.
Did not have breakfast
It was all good
location good. ear plugs provided upon arrival.
ear plugs provided on arrival, but still the stairs and overall place (even after the bar has closed) is very very noisy
Location
No breakfast on site although there is an early morning cafe 100 metres away
Good location
Old room
Friendly and great location.
The shower needs a shelf in it if possible.
This was perfect for what we needed, which was a warm and comfortable bed for the night while we were sailing for the weekend. Super cosy, good heating in the room to warm us up and dry off some wet clothes, comfy beds, towels and basic shower toiletries provided, centre of Cowes, nice staff.
Handy position, been before when popped over to the island to see friends. Always professional and helpful staff. Feel safe when traveling as lone female. Very secure. Nice modern room. Very comfortable bed .
Nil
The beds were comfortable and the decor was simple . I appreciated the complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water..
I didn't like having a separate - albeit private - bathroom which I had to go out into the corridor to access. It may have said this in the description (I'm not sure) but I wasn't expecting it. A hairdryer and more toiletries in the room would have been useful too.
Great experience. Lively pub. Couldn’t hear the band in our room so could sleep but a lot of noise on the street early the next morning. Friendly staff. Allowed us to store bags behind the bar after check out. Responded to questions quickly. Best location for hub of West Cowes.
Being woken up by noise in the street below very early the next day.
Excellent location and friendly staff
Excellent
The bar staff were very helpful and courteous, however there was no Wi-Fi and nothing in our room was cleaned or replenished for the next day. The shower door had a gap at the bottom which allowed water to escape thereby flooding the bathroom. Very disappointing overall.
