Phong Nha Tuan Garden House

We really enjoyed the food every day and the family was very flexible and attentive in accommodating us with our young toddler! The location worked well for us even though it was a little walk into town. The pool was clean and the room had what we needed, A/C worked. The homestay had many visitors at that time but never felt overly packed and the restaurant is obviously a popular spot for other visitors in town. Communication was excellent and kind and they even gave us a ride to the cave and let us borrow a motorbike. We'd recommend this homestay.

Die Unterkunft war schön mit Garten, Billiard, Pool und die Betten waren bequem.

Ich fand alles etwas überteuert, für was man bekommen hat. Die Paradies-Cave-Tour war im Hostel deutlich teurer als wenn wir es woanders gebucht haben. Da uns der Besitzer gesagt hat, dass es sich um lokale Preise handelt, haben wir es leider erst später rausgefunden.. Der geliehene Scooter war schrecklich! Ich dachte der fällt bald auseinander und war einer der Schlechtesten, den ich je hätte und dafür sehr teuer. Ansonsten war der Besitzer nett, aber es hat sich nicht sehr herzlich angefühlt und ich fand den Rest der Familie leider nicht besonders freundlich..

De gastheer Hung is geweldig, hij is waanzinnig aardig en behulpzaam, hij wil en kan alles regelen, en alles gebeurt met een big smile. De accommodatie is heel gezellig en relaxed, een kleine oase. Het eten is heerlijk. Echt een aanrader!

De accommodatie was fijn en groot. De tuin is voorzien van veel zitplaats zowel om te eten als om te rusten rond het zwembad. Verder had de kamer alles wat je nodig hebt.

Really enjoyed our stay, Hung was really accommodating and also helped us book a tour, taxi and onward travel - I would recommend getting in touch with him for tour information as he has loads of resources to help you decide. We also had a ‘family dinner’ the one night where we joined people from the dorm rooms and shared a buffet style meal which was really good. The pool area was also really nice with sun loungers, hammocks and a pool table

Phòng sạch sẽ, có giường tầng nên trẻ con rất thích. Bàn bi-a cũ nhưng vẫn dùng được. Nấu ăn không quá xuất sắc nhưng ăn ok. Chủ nhà nhiệt tình hỗ trợ khi nhà mình cần hỏi han.

De eigenaren zijn bijzonder vriendelijk en hulpvaardig voor hun gasten. Vooral met Hung hadden we al ruim van te voren WhatsApp’s contacten, om hem te vragen ons op te halen bij de bushalte om 5 uur ‘s morgens wat overigens voor hem helemaal geen probleem was! Ook hadden we bij hem vooraf al excursies geregeld voor de Paradise Cave en de Phong Nha Cave en ons vervolg transport naar Hue met privé chauffeur. Alles ging vlekkeloos en stipt op tijd! Fantastisch hoe goed ze ons weten te ontzorgen. En trouwens, ook heerlijk gegeten van de gerechten die Hung’s en Viet’s moeder kookt voor hun gasten!

Afvoer van de wastafel liep slecht leeg. Moet even ontstopt worden.

the host, Hung, was the kindest and friendliest man i’ve met so far on my travels. he was very helpful and allowed us to check in late, even picked us up from the bus station at 3am!!! he also got us sorted with a sleeper bus to the next destination. the beds were comfortable, great rooms and pool, and the atmosphere very social. we had a ‘family dinner’ one of the nights and it was delicious and allowed us to socialise with other guests and Hung’s family. overall, a 10/10 stay and would definitely recommend to other guests. i loved it!!

Our host was amazing. Hung picked us up from our sleeper bus. The welcome was so warm. Lovely room and pool. Outdoor communal garden area was so nice and we really enjoyed family dinner. We joined family dinner every night of our stay. Freshly cooked authentic Vietnamese dinner. We also got transport from Tuan Garden House to the bus when we were leaving and Hung sent us on our way with a packed breakfast for our journey! We were also able to join Family dinner the day we checked out and were able to shower and chill at the hostel until it was time for us to catch our bus. I would highly recommend Tuan Garden house! We had great recommendations from the staff and were able to rent bikes, organise tours and our bus all through Hung.

Slightly outside of the “town area” but very easy to walk into town or cycle. This was not an issue as Hung collected us from our bus and we were able to rent bikes at Tuan Garden House.

The guy who owns and runs this guesthouse is amazing. Professional and super helpful. Family run business, they work hard. Good social hostel, in good location, not a party hostel. Its very good.

Nous avons eu quelques petits soucis qui mérite d’être dit : - je n’en tiens pas compte dans ma notation mais 3h avant notre arrivée le propriétaire nous annonce que notre chambre a un problème d’électricité et que nous ne pouvons pas séjourner ici, heureusement il a pu nous proposer une chambre dans un autre homestay donc finalement pas très problématique puisque le lendemain nous n’avons rien de prévu :) - mon copain a trouvé une étiquette flottant dans sa noodle soop le matin - mais le point le plus important serait peut être de ne pas louer les scooters ici ? le premier jour nous avons pris un scooter qui n’avait tout simplement pas de frein, sauf que nous nous en sommes rendus compte déjà trop tard dans les chemins sinueux vers la commander cave :). Le soir le propriétaire s’en est occupé et s’est excusé. Mais le lendemain j’ai décidé de partir en scooter seule cette fois dans les environs, et le scooter n’a tout simplement plus redémarré, j’étais alors seule avec un scooter qui ne démarre plus au milieu de rien. Le propriétaire a envoyé quelqu’un pour venir me chercher, toute cette histoire a duré 1h30 environ. J’ai simplement écourté ma « journée » car j’étais fatigué de cette histoire et je suis rentrée. J’aurais aimé que le propriétaire ait un geste commercial on va dire, puisque sur 2 scooters les 2 ont eu un soucis

Wonderful stay. This Homestay is beautiful, welcoming, has a lovely atmosphere. The family who run it are amazing and so so helpful and kind. It is easy to meet other people (they have a family dinner every night) but it also had a really nice vibe for someone travelling alone who wants some quiet time (like I was). The tour organised through the Homestay (botanical gardens, paradise cave, phong nha cave, duck stop) was really good. Comfy beds and air con, good selection of food too.

The staff was very kind and helpful with organising cave tours. The facility is beautiful and the family dinner was delicious and an amazing opportunity to socialise. The free pickup from and drop off at the bus were very handy. The owner gave me a little doggy bag with snacks for my bus to Hanoi.

I only figured out 30 minutes before my arrival that I can’t check into my room because there were problems with electricity. The homestay owner kindly organised a room of equal quality at another homestay nearby which I could check into immediately though. I was asked to pack my bag the next morning so I can check into my room at Tuan Garden House but that then didn’t happen since the electricity issue still wasn’t fixed. The unnecessary packing was quite inconvenient. While the staff acted very professional and was accommodating I would’ve wished for a small compensation of some sort since I couldn’t actually stay at this homestay.

Our family loved staying at Tuan’s home garden, the family were very kind and hospitable, food was great, and we felt comfortable and safe. The atmosphere with guests was lovely too.

Near to the local restaurants, bars and convenience stores. Hung was a lovely chap, very friendly and helpful booking cave trips and taxi for us.

Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Das Zimmer war groß und sauber. Die Familie war sehr nett. Wir konnten uns einen guten Roller mit Helmen unkompliziert direkt bei der Familie ausleihen. Restaurant direkt in der Unterkunft. Alles gekochte essen was wir probiert haben war lecker. Der Sohn könnte sehr gutes Englisch. Sie waren für alle Fragen da. Wasser und Getränk auch direkt vor Ort kaufbar. Touren buchbar. Familienessen wird zum Abendessen angeboten = alle Gäste sitzen wie eine Familie am Tisch und teilen das essen. Lage ist gut. Man ist schnell bei der Hauptstraße mit mehr Restaurants. Ca. 4 min. Fahrt bis zum bootsableger. Und den Start des Rundweg durch den Nationalpark hat man ca. Nach 10min. Fahrt erreicht. Plant euch genug Tage ein, es ist so schön dort die Gegend. Wir hätten sie gerne noch länger erkundet. Und hatten nach bereits 2 Wochen reisen durch Vietnam das Gefühl in dem Vietnam angekommen zu sein wie wir es uns vorstellen. Winkende lachende Kinder, Reisbauern auf ihren Reisfeldern vor riesigen Felsen in toller Natur. Mit dem Roller rumfahren und die Natur erkunden, viele Aktivitätsangebote für groß und klein. Springen und planschen in glasklaren blauen Flüssen.

Das Frühstück war leider nicht so unser Fall.

We had a nice stay at the Homestay, the family is so nice and caring! The dinner every night was perfect to get to know the other people. They even had vegan options for dinner (and breakfast). It was no problem to rent a scooter for a day (or just a night). It was possible to book everything (bus, cave tours etc.) through the homestay.

Η διαμονή μου ηταν υπέροχη, ενοικιασα εύκολα σκούτερ και οι οικοδεσπότες ηταν μια μεγάλη οικογένεια ολοι πολλοί φιλικοί και πρόθυμοι να βοηθήσουν. Η τοποθεσία ειναι άριστη πολυ κοντά στο κέντρο. Το family dinner ειναι ενα πολυ έξυπνο και δημιουργικό σκηνικό όπου περιλαμβάνει νόστιμα φαγητά και την ευκαιρία στους ταξιδιώτες να γνωριστούμε μεταξύ μας. Un homestay avec une famille exceptionnelle, aux petits soins, d’une gentillesse extrême. Très bon rapport qualité prix, le family dinner est délicieux et les pancakes à la bananes au petit dej encore plus. J’y retournerai sans hésiter

Persoonlijke aanpak door de familie. Ze lijken de gasten echt te kennen, regelen met plezier verschillende uitstappen en vragen hoe alles verloopt. Staan steeds klaar om transport te regelen van/naar bus. Geven je het gevoel echt welkom te zijn

La famille qui gère l’établissement est adorable, le jeune manager est plutôt bon en anglais et très serviable (propose de vous déposer et de venir vous chercher à votre arrivée/départ). Le family dinner est excellent, je recommande même si vous n’êtes pas logé la. Piscine et billard parfait pour sociabiliser Propose et guide sur les activités à faire selon ce qu’on aime à un prix correct

Le seul petit problème pour moi était le manque de rideaux sur les lits superposés en dortoir (seulement les lits du haut, ceux du bas en ont)

Hung ist wirklich super! Er ist rund um die Uhr verfügbar und kümmert sich herzlich um alle Gäste. Er kümmert sich auch um die Hinfahrt und Rückfahrt aus/in andere Städte und holt die Gäste von der Bushaltestelle in der Stadt ab (egal zu welcher Uhrzeit). Das Essen, welches wir beim Family-Dinner dort gegessen haben, war das Beste, welches wir auf unserer 4 wöchigen Vietnamreise hatten!

Hung was a great host from start to finish of my stay by picking me up from the bus and taking me to the bus for my onward journey! I would highly recommend the family dinner it was a great get together with other people from the hostel! I would 100% stay again if I come back to this location.

Room was clean, hot shower and the family are very friendly gave me a lift to the bus and a nice banana pancake for it! Highly recommend the family dinner with all the guests, would stop again!

Estuvimos desde el 17-21 de agosto y lo que más nos gustó fue la amabilidad de Hung y su familia. Estuvieron en todo momento disponibles para cualquier cosa que necesitáramos y también nos ayudaron para varios tipos de reserva. Reservamos con ellos por ejemplo las excursiones de visitar las cuevas Paradise y Elephant. Y cuando teníamos problemas para reservar algún taxi también se ofrecían a gestionarlo por nosotros. Alguna noche organizan la family dinner. La primera noche pensábamos que iba a venir su familia a cenar porque eran ellos quienes también cocinaban, pero era un buffet que hacían para que todos los del hotel pudiéramos cenar juntos y hablar. Respecto al hotel: El pueblo principal no pillaba lejos, en general se podía ir andando a cualquier lado. Tienen piscina y servicio de lavandería. El último día, que teníamos que dejar el hotel y viajar en bus nocturno, como continuamente había problemas para que un taxi pasara por su zona, Hung nos llevó a la estación de autobuses. Y su familia además, nos dejó la cenita hecha a modo de sorpresa. Un amor de personas!

- Las camas no eran muy cómodas. De todo nuestro viaje de Vietnam fue donde peor dormimos porque las camas eran de muelles y te clavabas los muelles por varios sitios. Mi novio apenas durmió esos días. - Ellos no tienen culpa, pero había muchos problemas para que un taxi te aceptara ir a ese hotel. Creemos que era porque no merecía la pena por la cercanía de las distancias. En general siempre íbamos andando, pero la primera noche que llegamos íbamos cargados con mucho peso y llovía mucho. Y la última noche igual.

De eigennaar van de homestay is echt geweldig. Hij maakte ons verblijf super. Na een lange treinrit kwam hij ons ophalen, hij zorgde zelfs dat we al de kamer in konden. In de avond hadden we een heerlijk famillie diner, waar we ook andere leuke gasten leerde kennen en de eigennaar ons vertelde over Vietnamese cultuur. Ik zou deze plek iedereen aanraden.

Alles wat goed!

Een iets grotere homestay dan we al gewend waren, dat ook zeker zijn charmes. Ze deden met de gasten een family dinner, niet met de familie zelf maar met de mensen die er verbleven. De familie leefde er echt, we maakten kennis met de kindjes, de hond, de broers,... De familie wil graag veel voor je regelen, hoe meer hoe liever. We boekten een tour naar de Ruc Mon cave en onze bus via hen, heel gemakkelijk.

The family were so lovely, taking us to and from the bus stop and always assisting in anything we needed. We also loved chatting to little Bo! Breakfast was great, particularly the banana pancakes. Gorgeous property with a nice pool and lots of space to chill out. Really enjoyed the family dinner, and this was very affordable. Decent location - 15 minute walk to the main restaurants.

The WiFi was pretty weak - we struggled to load much when we were here. Could do with better curtains as it was super light in the morning from around 6am. The wooden structure of the place meant it was not soundproof at all. We were unfortunate to have come when there were extremely loud families staying, which is not a fault of the owners, however it did mean we didn’t sleep particularly well throughout our stay.

Amazing homestay experience! The host, Mr. Hùng, was very kind and helpful, from airport pick-up to arranging tours. The room was big, clean, and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the clean, blue pool and the relaxing garden vibe. The restaurant served great food with vegetarian and vegan options. Peaceful atmosphere, friendly service — I highly recommend it and would love to come back next time!

Big pool with sun beds to chill. Everything pretty clean. Good breakfast. The family dinner was really good! Staff/Family is very nice, they even prepared me a pancake for my bus ride. Comfortable beds. AC worked well. You can book tours and buses through the staff (tours all over Phong Nha are pretty expensive though, you can also just go by yourself in most cases and save a lot of money. Has nothing to do with the hostel).

Wifi didn't work well for streaming. Rental scooters are in bad conditions (as almost everywhere in Vietnam).

Liked the family dinner and their great support during booking/ deciding which tours to do. We couldn't sleep at their place because of an issue with the room and stayed 50m along the road at a different place (which they organized for us) but we could use their shower anyway after a day tripp and before our night bus.

Great social hostel, with big common area and many places to hang out. The dorm was spacious enough as well. As mentioned in other reviews, the host was very helpful and picked me up at night. After I forgot something in the hostel he organised to give it to another person who brought it to me by bus, I'm grateful! Would definitely come here again.

The family dinner was nice, however it didn't necessarily feel like a family dinner.

This was my second stay at Tuan garden house which says it all! Amazing pool, very friendly family run, scooter rental, organise private cars if required. Lovely garden setting where they offer family dinner or you can order from the restaurant. Basic facilities as with all accomodation in phong nha but all kept clean.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. The family dinner was tasty and a great way to meet other travellers. The facilities were good but basic. However one morning the toilet in the room got blocked. The bunk bed was a little squeaky too but overall I didn't mind. I would stay again!

We stayed for 2 nights, and everything was perfect. Hung and his family are really kind and attentive, always ready to help plan activities and organize the trip.

We had an amazing time in Phong Nha thanks to the family running this home stay. We arranged airport pick up through them at a very good price, we also rented scooters from them for our group and received some great recommendations of places to visit in Phong Nha. The family members were all friendly, funny and willing to help with any queries we had. They also dropped us off at our second homestay in Phong Nha when we decided to stay a day longer. The rooms we got had everything we needed and were spacious and clean.

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. The hostel was very dirty, and the rooms were quite run-down. The mattresses had a musty smell, and the quilted blankets were unhygienic since there was no sheet between the blanket and the user. If such blankets are used, there should at least be a sheet provided, especially in a hostel setting. On a positive note, the breakfast was okay. However, overall, I was very disappointed with the condition and cleanliness of the hostel.

Lovely family run hostel. Free breakfast and they offer family dinner every night so that's a great way to get to know other people. Instead of dorms we did all have to share family rooms which was fine for us but some people might find it odd with a double bed and 2 bunk beds lol. Easy to book tours or bikes to see everything in Phong Nha. My only advice is do NOT book the cheaper bus to Hue/Hoi An, the journey is a nightmare where they stop a lot for locals and stop only 30mins outside of Phong Nha for 30 mins - booking VIP buses where you can.
