Clean crisp sheets and white towels. Very comfy room.
Shower was a little difficult to control and shower soap dispenser empty.
Great location for exploring the region. Rooftop carpark (with great view of the river!)
Has a certain run-down feeling. But then, so does Medway in general
Near station centrally located
Breakfast could have been a bit better. Or at least advertised as continental
THE ROOM WAS WELL THOUGHT OUT, SPACIOUS, LIGHT AND IMMACULATE IN CLEANLINESS!!! BED WAS COMFY, WATER IN BATH VERY HOT....EVERYTHING NEEDED 4 A GOOD STAY.
Didn't like the breakfast, but it didn't alter my opinion of the stay. I prefer healthy options *and am gluten free normally) but it was it was just basic cereal, croissants and toast, and shop bought muffins..and think some boiled eggs....even the coffee tasted weak and bland....but it was free!!!! So i just mainly had the fruit juice and some coffee. I was appreciative that this was provided free and everyone else was eating it!!!
Lots of space in the room and somewhere to lock up our bikes.
The decor was a bit tired and we didn't like the music on at breakfast.
Nothing

View from my room. Quiet. Close to rail station.
Very expensive for quality of an old hotel with no amenities at $220 Australian per night. More expensive than London or Hilton in Dover! Price varies enormously depending on what day. Breakfast extremely basic and all cold. No food available on premises and quite a walk to Chatham High Street. Not particularly clean especially bathroom. No fridge, hair dryer etc which is fine if it wasn't so expensive.
I was lucky enough to get one of the rooms with a spectacular view over the River Medway. The hotel is quiet and I slept well. Nice big 'dressing room' area with clothes rail and full length mirror - more convenient than a wardrobe.
The bathroom had a bath and shower but I couldn't get the shower to work.
The location to the central theatre in Chatham was good. Plus Rochester main street had a host of bars and Restaurants only 20mins from hotel.
The hotel needs a deep clean, it was not good, the mattress must of been years old and it had no support. The breakfast available was not worth waiting for and we should have just left and got one on the go. The shower facilities were like in the 80's when curtains were in and a dodgy light set the scene quite well. .

The lift to My floor didn’t work and poor state of maintenance. Had to walk down a floor with heavy luggage. No duplicate room keys for partner. V poor state of upkeep / maintenance inside and out. Shower v faulty. Not adjustable poor pressure and goes off when sink tap on. As does sink tap! No USB sockets. Hotel quite noisy inside. Breakfast v basic with non-fresh croissants.
the stay
breakfast sparse
Good location for our requirements.
Cleanliness, dated, room was not in good condition.
Location and cost
Room clearly not ready , Asian spice smell throughout the hotel , needs a paint and major uplift
Unfortunately the only positive was the time we left. Or anytime when we were not in the place.
It looked dodgy, it looked shut, the staircase was so narrow, dont bother booking unless you are size 16 or under. The person who greeted us eventually. has poor English and wasnt friendly, quite abrupt. 10 a.m on Sunday is a bit early. On the other hand given the nature of the place we should have left earlier
The staff were helpful and the lift worked.
I booked two rooms. On arrival in one room the cups needed to be washed before use, the windows didn’t lock and there was a leak in the bath. In the other room, the standard of cleaning was very poor (stain on the duvet cover, dirty drawers, stained chair, dirty mirror and surfaces), one window didn’t lock, the shower was broken but you could still shower and one window didn’t lock. There wasn’t anywhere to hang your clothes or even a picture on the wall. The room was grubby and plain. The breakfast wasn’t great either. We won’t be staying here again.
The breakfast is not up to much not much of a choice
Apart from the breakfast the shower in the room was very difficult to control the temperature but apart from that the room was very good
The only positive thing was the friendly smile of the receptionist upon arrival.»
This stay was an absolute nightmare and caused me an enormous amount of stress. I came here hoping to rest, but left with a severe headache and in tears. I never expected to encounter such unacceptable conditions in England. Here are the main issues: * Unsanitary conditions & extreme filth: The whole room was dirty, especially the walls and the radiators. The windows were so filthy that it was impossible to see the River Medway outside. * Dangerous plumbing: The hot water was dangerously hot to the point of burning your hands. Because of the traditional two-tap setup, the only way to wash your face or hands without getting burned was to constantly switch between cold and hot water. * Dampness & poor ventilation: The room was extremely damp and humid, and the ventilation system did not work at all. I am attaching photos to prove these claims. I strongly advise avoiding this establishment.
We chose it because we stayed here before and it was lovely. It seems to have changed hands and it is not altogether positive. The receptionist when we arrived was cheerful and helpful. We were early by an hour but our room was ready. We could not use the hotel car park but was told to go around the back of the hotel in a very small car park. We did get in though so that was good. Our room was clean which was also nice but that is where it ends.
The bed was a small double, the mattress was hard and lumpy and uncomfortable. Pillows were not soft. The kettle had a yellow bottom like something had been cooked in it. So no drinks. The breakfast was very limited, being continental we expected to see some fruit, maybe some yoghurt. No, stale bread to toast, boiled eggs, 3 different cereals, coco pops, rice crispies, cornflake. Croissant and blueberry muffins. The coffee was percolated and was not to my taste. Tea which hubby had. Apple juice or orange juice. Tap water. There was one member of staff sat in the room but he did not say anything other than morning. No indication to say to help yourself. We just did it. The dining area was filthy, food on the chairs and floor, the table where the coffee was dirty. We were there at 8am so the first ones in. The skirting board was spattered with filth and the cloth chairs smelt musty.

The noisy toilet uncomfortable bed car park location
The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The view of the river was nice. The location was very good for me. Everything I needed was within walking distance.
The shower was useless. The bathroom is in need of up grading. No toiletries were on offer. The room itself is in need of redecorating.

Bed linen and towels were clean. Beds comfortable. Croissant at breakfast was good.
Both my friends had problems with the showers, one with water either too hot or too cold but you couldn't mix it. The other leaked from the hose. Our rooms were not really clean with bits and fluff. The basin was cracked, taps needed mending, windowsill crumbling paint, one of my lights didn't work. The toaster caught fire and the toast wouldn't eject, the employee wasn't interested and didn't help or replace it.
Good price Clean room
Nice room.easy to find pleasant staff
very reasonable price, good location, bed was comfortable
The shower hose needs to be replaced, it leaks and has come to the end of its life
The bed was comfortable
After a long journey, on arrival there was not a member of staff available to book in and the auto booking screen did not work, we waited almost 10 minutes to be booked in. Car park not in use so had to use a different carpark, which was free but had very steep shabby steps to climb up to the hotel. The room was very bleak, no character and decor was very grey and dingy, also, shower curtain pole was covered in rust and mould around the edge of the bath. Now the continental breakfast... consisted of , if you eat any of it, cold boiled egg, cereal, toast, croissants , cheap watery yoghurt, pre-packed sweaty cheddar or red leceister . A couple came in and cleared the breakfast bar of everything except cereals and toast and then left ! When we did see a member of staff the other patrons were told that the croissant were ordered in and there would not be any more available and that they could not boil any more eggs. Plenty of people left hungry and disappointed. On check out the staff were still very ellusive so put our keys behind reception and left.
Bed was comfy and bath was massive
There was no hot food even though they have a menu online and breakfast is continental. No fried breakfast, bread was stale counters where dirty and we was first in there. Lift didn’t work to floor 3.. days they have food hygiene of 5 but must be from a long time ago..
Cheap and cheerful..and last min
That's the hardest bed I've ever slept on Had to sleep on top of three pillows to feel comfortable
Loved proper price for comfortable bed
Did not like very lazy barman's attitude to job quality who served breakfast in basement.
location
everything else especialy the breakfast
Stayed for 1 night due to work. Website states restaurant and parking on site. This is not the case. Parking was down a rather poor area with 3 flights of steep external steps up a narrow walk way to get back to the hotel. Being a single lady travelling I felt unsafe. I then had to walk through this poor area to find an evening meal with no luck. The area is very deprived with shops boarded up and broken glass on the walkways. My initial thought was im not staying however as work had paid I had no choice but to stay. The corridors to the room were dark mould in places with old bedding in the corridors which the cleaners had not removed. The fire exit was drafty and full.of mould and holes so was not safe. The breakfast was supposed to be a buffet with hot option, however what was laid on was self service toast, (no serving tongs) croissant uncovered, hard boiled eggs, yoghurt and cheese out in open which meant they had got warm, cereal in dispensers which looked old. The overall hygiene was poor. The only positive was the room was clean, large with an amazing shower. The hotel has potential but its been left in a poor state.
Quiet and peaceful
Nothing
Staff excellent. Room was nice
Clean
No gluten free breakfast all apart from a small yogurt
Staff was nice
Bed was broken
Basic and cheap. Done the job
Out of hour key drop. Potential to lock yourself in the stairwell. Awful idea. Must cause a lot of people difficulties.
I liked the location, was ideal for my plans the following day.
I did not like the following: There was no desk, hairdryer and ironing facilities in the room as stated. There was an awful smell in the room, hallway and lift which was very off putting. I did not sleep as there was banging throughout the night which left me contemplating going elsewhere for the night but not knowing the area felt I had no choice to stay. I would not recommend and will not be staying there again.
Great staff 👍. Nice hotel
Hear door slamming. Of other people
Location and free parking
Not clean, room cramped, breakfast non existent, no hot water all weekend
Quirky
Good location for our visit and free parking
Exterior was very shabby: reception area bit grubby as was the lift. Bedroom was very basic although bed linen and bathroom were clean. The bed was extremely uncomfortable.: the pillows were rock hard. Spoke to a couple of other guests who felt the same. Sorry but wouldn't recommend.
Great location, very close to the railway station and to the town centre, with views of the Medway and Victoria park. The staff is very friendly, professional and attentive, kind and helpful. The room was confortable, had all that was needed. The continental breakfast buffet was well laid out with good choice. Overall a good stay, great value for money for my few days in Kent.
Good location with free car park. River views are great
Have stayed regularly over several years and it’s feeling run down. Breakfast used to be excellent, this time i didn’t bother as no cooked offerings
Rotten carpets, no breakfast service due to staff reporting sick, dirty and rundown overall
The views and the location
The lift was not working. You couldn't press the number 3 in the lift and I did tell the staff. Breakfast is not too bad, could have done with a hot breakfast and they should be more aware of allergies and vegans. Shower in the room I stayed in was noisy and it wasn't even on! The doors in the hotel could be more sound proof so they don't slam. Also could benefit with a vending machine as theres no one here after a certain time and they shut their main doors. Only exit is a fob by the side by lift.
The property was a good price
The night was so uncomfortable, mattress dented, with springs sticking out. I had to lay on top of the duvet just for a little bit of relief from it. The pillows were like egg boxes so lumpy I did not sleep all night. Plus a squealing noise of pipes that pierced the dead of the night every few hours
The location suited my needs. Last minute booking was useful.
Faulty towers springs to mind, the room was very basic, the TV wouldn't work when brought to the attention of staff nothing was done to rectify the issue. A kettle & a cup in the room without coffee/tea etc so a pointless exercise. Breakfast cornflakes with what I can only describe as milk on the turn. For £70 per night I would expect better facilities or at least basic facilities.
Bra bemötande av receptionisten.
Dålig frukost, räckte inte till alla. Dålig hygien.
I love the ambiance around the hotel
N/A
The staff,
Only one key given, wish they would give 2 keys
Absolutely nothing
The hotel is very dirty, run down and full of drug users. The rooms are in awful conditions The manager Layla didn’t do anything to resolve the issues and we faced discrimination against disabilities. When trying to resolve the issues the manager was more concerned about going home. I asked for my money back and to leave the hotel and was blanked. AVOID
Close to where we needed to be
No cooked breakfast Bed was really hard No ice in bar
Nothing really just the location was near where we needed to be
It was very tired. The lift didn’t work properly & was dirty. The room on closer inspection was ok but the bathroom was awful. The sink had a massive crack in it the shower was virtually non existent just a dribble of tepid water. The carpet in the room could have done with a deep clean & the windows were dirty.
I like that it has lifts to each floor. It’s comfortable and easy to access the rooms.
We didn’t like that we didn’t find out that it wasn’t a cooked breakfast until we got down to the diner. The receptionist didn’t tell us upon our arrival. We had been looking forward to it for a while.
Are bar
Got told fry up not a lot to choose staff not pleased to talk not as friendly some staff
Always pleasant, checked into the room early which is always a bonus with no extra charge
Basic but very comfortable but close the train station. Staff is very accommodating and of course the view from my room was stunning…
This was my second stay at St George Hotel, and once again I had a great experience. The hotel is in an excellent location with easy access to local attractions, shops, and transport, making it a convenient place to stay. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is warm, welcoming, and relaxing. The staff are friendly and helpful, always happy to assist whenever needed. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Housekeeping did a great job, and everything was spotless throughout my stay. I also noticed some fantastic upgrades since my last visit. The new chairs in the reception area give the lobby a modern and comfortable feel, creating a much nicer space to relax while waiting or meeting others. The addition of the pool table is another great improvement, providing guests with an enjoyable way to spend their free time. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money. Considering the quality of the rooms, the facilities, and the friendly service, I would definitely recommend St George Hotel to anyone visiting the area. I look forward to staying here again in the future.
Stay was pleasant. Staff polite and helpful, room provided what I needed. No issues at all.
Fair price, amazing view from the bedroom
It was a heatwave and there was no air con and no fan so I barely slept
Personeel was vriendelijk
De bedden zijn doorgezakt Warm water is er bijna niet Ontbijt was basic Ziekenhuis wit licht in de kamer
First the location, my room gave me a wonderful view of the kent coast line, clean room, friendly staff, not normally a breakfast person but really enjoyed the continental breakfast on offer, great value for money and definitely worth a second visit
Location
The TV screen was broken, reported it nothing happened, the headboard was not attached to the wall properly and made a cracking noise every time someone moved in the bed and the last night a running water noise from behind the wall started and kept us up all night, reported to staff when I eventually found them, got a standard apology, no attempt to make sure I was happy or offer and compensation even after showing them the video of the running water noise. After many good stays here I believe it has changed owners and I will not be returning
I don't really write reviews but bar tender seemed very polite when asked for experience and requested to share online. People are very quick to complaint but not often go out of their way to mention the positive experience. We enjoyed our stay and will return if we are this direction again. It has everything that is needed for a goos night stay.
We had a lovely room and a very comfortable bed. The staff we encountered were all great and very helpful with suggestions of things to do nearby. I would visit again when the area as was very good value.
hotel in good location and nice view of the medway
no hot water in the room or a shower that worked . the breakfast was awful . we changed rooms and the second one hadn't been cleaned , mucky cups bin not emptied and the shower was cold .
Public transport accessible
Not clean enough. Very noisy area There was no coffee or tea in my room, only sugar was place on that tray. There was no notice about alarm test or what so ever but the alarm just made a huge noise at 11pm and no apology or explanation in the morning. Carpet was smelly. I felt very unsafe No provision of fan was made. Plugs sockets are far away from the bed.
Included breakfast basic as continental
Bed and pillows extremely uncomfortable. Hair and dirt on bed. Dirt and dust all over floor drawers carpet bathroom floor. Bits of food on the chair.
Staff awesome. Hotel nice 👌
TV signal poor lot channels didn't work . No connection
Useful parking facility
Breakfast was very poor. Between 8-10am, arrived at 9am and only toast left. Appears there was only toast, cereal, crossaints and muffins as options, so no really variety. Property wasn’t the cleanest either, hairs in bathroom. Very warm room during heatwave with only small fan. Generally not in a nice area of Rochester from what we saw.
Nothing. Cracked walls, furniture. Mould in the bathroom, and the room. Dirty!
Cracked walls, furniture. Mould in the bathroom, and the room. Dirty!
Room was clean and quite spacious. Plenty of tea coffee and milk. Comfortable bed and roomy wardrobe. The continental breakfast was plentiful although would have been good to have some form of fresh fruit.
Bathroom in need of an update. Basin hot water tap not working in the morning and the shower was cold. Not able to double lock the yale lock on the door at night although there was a chain on the door. As everyone walked past this door it was not the safest place to give a lone female traveller
This hotel was absolutely filthy and generally appalling.
There were breadcrumbs all over the bed. Thick dirt and dust above the bed and spilt coffee all over the wall. The bathroom was antiquated with mold all over the shower and shower curtain. Disgustingly filthy.
Was very basic, not very tasty
Poor quality products
The reception area isn’t that nice but the rooms are very clean and comfortable
The reception area doesn’t look nice
Free parking
Check in awful. Hotel closed on arrival and no response to telephone calls. No hot water in the evening or morning.
Clean towels and sheets location for visit to Naval Dockyard
No cooked breakfast / unfriendly staff/ dingy unkept hotel/ restricted parking
We booked 2 rooms for 4 people over 3 nights at this hotel on 3rd July 2026 for our family and booked it after reading many positive reviews. We were directed to the car park at the back of the hotel after booking in. Collecting our cases out the car to walk up the 40 steps to the hotel reception we were confronted by a male injecting himself on the steps! There was also drug deals noted at the bus stop yards from the hotel. This area although reviewed close to the high street which is true, 15 minute walk, it is in an undesirable part of town and should be avoided at all cost for personal safety. We wanted to cancel our stay but we were not allowed to and couldnt find any accommodation nearby or we would have left. The manger allowed us to keep our car in the staff parking area away from the unsavoury individuals drinking alcohol and taking drugs on the car park. The hotel is a very poor quality standard with dirty carpets throughout all corridors , lift didnt work on floor 3 where our room was, all the paintwork is chipped and the room where the iron and iron board was kept was covered in cobwebs and filthy. There was dirty crockery left in this room throughout our stay and a really unpleasant odour was present. The rooms were clean but very basic, breakfast was very poor quality and selection was inadequate. The 2 star rating should be reviewed as this the worst place we have ever stayed in over 30 years. It was also clear that this hotel is being used to house social service individuals and we felt uncomfortable with some of them. This was confirmed after we spoke to one of the hotel cleaning staff. A real concern is that the customer reviews certainly does not reflect our experience which should be reviewed also for authenticity. In summary, i would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone as we didnt feel safe and were uncomfortable until we left early on the Monday morning.
The location is great. Just a short stroll into Rochester town
The mattress was lumpy, thin and stained. There was no working tv’s in the rooms. When we told reception we were fobbed off with oh they will be coming to fix it on Monday!!!
Clean room
Breakfast, cold coffee. Out oc fruit juice. Dirty dishes on tables no staff. Lift was tricky to get moving
On arrival man receptionist wasn't there then was i had to pay £1 even though I had already paidno food drink was available on our arrival ,then we were told there was no cooked breakfast we went to our rooms there was a chain to put on door quite alarming we felt 2 young ladies alone. We then went where we were told returants would be to find people smoking weed a very rough nieghbour hood we found a Chinese we then received a call and had to go to my dad's that night and not on the Saturday as planned.so we returned packed our stuff and Briony took the key back and explained we had to leave,As we left aScantily clad lady and man sat out side,A man smoking weed and another we were frightened and relieved we had to go to see dad I called to talk to the reception explaining and asked if we would get a refund .we were told TO CALL BACK 7 TO 11 NEXT DAY TO SPEAK TO MANAGER . I do think as breakfast was not cooked and I am gluten free so could not eat pastries and noone else would of wanted to stay that we received a partial refund for our breakfast if not the full amount it has been a had few months my cousin was will and has died now and now my dad is poorly, I can say we were sad we had to go to my dad's but relieved we did not have to stay at the hotel and would never recommend it
Location ,other clients,amenities
It was okay for the price. The female staff were good but under a lot of pressure as they were understaffed. The male staff really didn’t care that you were the customer.
Location was good
Boa
Não tem frigobar dentro do quarto
Nothing sorry
That place was nothing like the picture shown on your website it was dirty smelly the carpet had lots of duty stains on it the shower didn't work there was no soap to wash my hands with and to top the lot there was what I can only describe as a junkys needle on the windowsill, the noise levels at night were to much and I am a 20 year old girl I felt very frightened when Nan picked me up she was shocked to see that's what she had paid for
TV didn't work Shower was hot and cold
Lo staff gentilissimo
The hotel was in a good location to walk to the High Street. Our room was clean and spacious with a comfy bed. Free car parking at rear of the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was quite basic.
Very nice staff, room was large and with an incredible view across the river. Good position for visiting or working in Intra, Chatham or Rochester. Plenty of storage space and desk.
Beds could have been more comfortable and due to height the windows had limiting opening and no air-conditioning so ot was a bit hot. Bathroom wasnt great, shower over bath meant either boiling hot (too hot to use) or lukewarm shower, toilet too cramped to use.comfortably, whole.bathroom needed revamp. Free breakfast but not great quality..still was.good value for money
Do not stay here heroin needles everywhere and disgusting dirty rooms
Great value for money, nice bar area, lovely view from my room. Lovely towels and bedding. Free parking a bonus, quiet room. The industrial look was nice in the bathroom.
Slight old smell in the corridors, paintwork tired and in need of an update. Had trouble turning shower on and off. But not a real issue.
The receptionist was a nice guy and very helpful. The view from our room over the river was lovely, and the hotel was a short walk into Chatham.
I imagine in its day this was a great hotel, but now firmly at the budget end. The property was in dire need of a facelift. The double bed, a split divan, had collapsed at one end. The room felt grubby and unloved. For some reason, the cold tap ran really hot until the cold made it through the pipe, very confusing. There was no sink plug in the bathroom. Breakfast was, oh dear! Stale croissants, stale chocolate muffins, toaster burnt one side of the toast, only two yoghourts, coffee so weak it was almost transparent. For the money a travelodge would be a better bet.
The rooms size and layout plus the view
The location
Bed was big, and a great view
Room was dirty, walls had mould, a shelf was kept up with 2 tree branches. Carpet was dirty and at one point my daughter got someone's false eyelash stuck on her toe. The smell was terrible, like stale smoke and foisty. The shower looked fine but took a lot of strength just to turn the handle to switch on.Breakfast had only a couple of croissants and some toast, terrible. Outside the place is just surrounded with people who I can only describe as crackheads. All in all this place is disgusting and not worth a tenner a night never mind what I paid. If I could give minus score I would. STAY AWAY PEOPLE
Хареса ми отношението на персонала
Не ми хареса това че нямахме хладилник в стаята . Вода не ни беше предоставена . Стаите не се чистиха и прибираха всеки ден . Уж закуската беше включена една сутрин ресторанта беше затворен.
