You really really need desperately to do something about your entrance. The stairs down to the reception and rooms is so so bad, why can you not put a ramp there or do something, I'm elderly and I had awful trouble getting my luggage into the hotel, and I have stayed 4 times and complain each time how awful the setup is !

The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.

The hotel looked tired and in need of refurbishment. The meal (fish and chips) had clearly 'warmed up' chips. Yuck.

There was a lot of noise from kids running up and down the corridors at 4am. There was also very little breakfast left on one morning and when the staff were approached about it there was a huge fight between the staff member and customer for the entirety of my breakfast

Our stay was made genuinely enjoyable thanks to the friendly and helpful staff throughout the premises. On our first day, when we arrived late for breakfast, Bali assisted us with kindness and practical advice that helped us throughout the rest of our visit. The room was comfortable and well‑designed, with just the right amount of space for our luggage and for us to relax. The beds were cozy with plenty of pillows, and having a small fridge in the room was a pleasant and very useful surprise. Overall, it was a comfortable, welcoming stay with thoughtful touches that made a real difference.

Steps down to the room at the end, for someone like me who has back issues and trying to lug a suitcase proved to be quite awkward.

Quiet night for a group of 10 people. Starters came out ok. Then mains came out 5 at a time. No probs. By the time my pie came out I was starved. I poured the small gravy onto my pie mash and veg..took a bite then realised the food was cold . The gravy was freezing cold and had ruined the meal. The staff were told and then returned in 5 mins to say no more pies. As everyone had already started their meals I would then have to wait a while for them to rustle something else up. So the meal was microwaved to hot. However I found the meal disappointing. Won't choose that again. They didn't even suggest a discount for the error nor inconvenience.

Just had a wonderful relaxed breakfast with Kartika, Anishtah and Milana looking after my food and watering needs 😎 It hurts me to only give four stars for a fabulous breakfast cooked by a happy chef with really great staff BUT the Holiday Inn upper management have made a decision to go with Stokes Brown sauce and ketchup.....such a shame when the food and staff are so excellent.

I liked the breakfast, the housekeeping staff and the reception team. They were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast could have more options, they said you can order pancakes, but the 3 occasions I asked, it wasn’t available. I found out 3 days in that you could ask for omelettes by chance when another guest was being informed, however, no one had told me that. One of the night managers came to my door that she had received complaints from guests below us that there was a lot of jumping, stomping, shouting etc. in fact as soon as she said that, I opened my door wide for her to see my toddler watching Danny Go and dancing along, so I with a smile, informed her that that was the little culprit but I would stop her now. Without a smile or any sense of friendliness or politeness, she proceeded to inform me that if it didn’t stop, we’re going to have to leave the property and our booking cancelled. I was shocked, I had to express my disappointment that you were going to evict me and my 2 daughters at 9pm after coming to just inform me, it’s not like you had said something before and we didn’t listen, then she tried to change her approach and was trying to empathise that she understands how kids can be etc. I was shocked for a hotel advertised as family friendly. You should have put us on the ground floor if you didn’t want kids moving around In the rooms and the floors were creaking just from walking. Another thing I didn’t like is where all their premium rooms were located, it’ll take at least 5mins from our door to get downstairs. The walk is long and there’s a set of stairs too, with our luggage and stroller, it wasn’t convenient

The staff were brilliant and so helpful. Really glad we booked to include an evening meal - recommend this option to others, as the alternative can be pricey. Check-out time is great because it gives time to pack. Breakfast is really good.

Our sleep was interrupted TWICE during the night (02:30 and again at 03:30 approximately) by a fire alarm, so that we were wrecked by the morning and hardly ate breakfast, which did not help. It appears that it was the same culprit having a smoke/vape. There appears to be very little punishment for this - he/she should have been thrown out first time. The hotel is located a lot further out from Rochester than the advertisments suggest.

I used an debit card to pay and choose to pay in euros The transaction was approved at first, but then declined. The receptionist explained that their new payment system played up when a foreign currency was selected. She told me it hadn't gone through and asked me retry selecting sterling which I did because there was no other option. I knew it would cost me more but I had a train to catch. The transaction was approved. I immediately checked my bank balance and both transactions were pending in my current account putting me into an overdraft situation. I was very unhappy and complained, I was told they couldn't give me a refund but that the money would bounce back in a couple of days. This was at the start of my trip to the UK and I was left with only a very small amount of money to get through the next few days. I'm still waiting to see if it ' bounces back ' and if payment is taken in Sterling and not Euros I will be very angry. I won't ever stay at a Holiday Inn ever again. I will be making further complaints on social media and The Times Newspaper travel section

The bed in our room had a wheel missing so was tipping to one side, unfortunately we didn't notice this till we went to get into bed at 1am.

Really good stay at the holiday inn cheltenham. The customer service lady Tamia is particularly helpful and so friendly! The hotel has swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. My son has special needs and thx hotel is very accommodating! Thank you Tamia!

Friendly and helpful reception staff, room needs a refurbishment. The bathroom was generally shabby with paint peeling off the door and mould around the shower enclosure. Not what you expect from a HI. There was no shower gel in the shower and the phone was not even connected to the wall to ask for more. Unfortunately the breakfast was also uninspiring, with greasy bacon and dried up sausages. On a positive note, the gym equipment was pretty good.

It’s neat and easy to locate.

No flexibility in check in and check out time. I arrived at the venue @ 12 pm despite informing them 5 days earlier that I will arrive earlier than their fixed time of 15:00. I was kept standing till 15:00.

Friendly and professional staff, clean and well serviced room, excellent pool and sauna, although the Steam Room was out of order and the Hot Tub was not working properly, these were two small disappointments that were overshadowed by all that was good about the hotel and they did not spoil my stay. Another bonus is that the breakfast (all you could eat, buffet style) was freshly cooked and plentiful (10 out of 10) and highly recommended .

What a really lovely time! Janka was exceptional. Friendly and with a real sense of humour. A pleasure to be sat at her table. The food was really good and good portion sizes. The pizza was very good as were the ribs. Everything was hot and fresh. Excellent. Thank you Janka. You made it a very lovely evening.

It was an amazing stay. All the staff was supporting and so helpful. It was the feeling that it is a 5 star hotel in the meaning of service, cleaning, food and spa zone. Me and my little daughter felt like at home. It was a true pleasure.

From start to finish to finish our stay was very pleasant. Super friendly staff, clean tidy well maintained rooms, lovely dinner, outstanding breakfast (great selection, catering for all needs). Fabulously spa facilities, such as nice treat. There was nothing the staff couldn’t/wouldn't do to help make our stay enjoyable. We were new to the area and the staff were very knowledgeable and informative as to how to get around and how close local attractions were, parking etc. Another nice touch was use of free towels and refreshments at pool side, free WiFi & parking (no hidden add-ons or extra charges like other places). Will definitely be returning and will happily recommend to family & friends.

We had a fantastic breakfast this morning with such a wonderful team looking after us. A special thank you to Janka and Karthika, who were both so warm and attentive throughout our visit. Easy to find, decent parking, great a/c system… oddly comfortable bed (usually i don’t like a soft mattress). I’ll repeat the bit about the a/c system- that was why i was there (heatwave).

Why does check in always take so long? No queue but receptionist seemed to take ages. Room decor has real potential but application was shoddy. Blobs of paint where they shouldn’t be. And carpet was frankensteined together in several places. Tv remote had several buttons which didn’t work. Window seals weren’t v good and on a main road, you could hear the traffic all night…

Booked last minute after having an absolute disaster with a property we should have stayed in but checked out within an hour because it was filthy. Had low expectations because ultimately, its a low budget chain hotel which are usually average at best. This particular location had some really lovely staff both evening during check in (around 10pm) And at breakfast time. Every member of staff greeted us whether it was reception staff, those working at breakfast or even the chef. The room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was actually pretty decent too. We had a premium room which I dont think is too different from any others except it has a small fridge. Paid £95 for 2 adults and a child with breakfast for all 3.

We booked two single beds we landed quite late to a double bed a dog was barking all evening and the corridor was full of kids running all hours through the night staff was not helpful at all

Slept really well which doesn’t often happen the first night in a new bed - must have been comfortable and the aircon was very effective in the heat. We took a Premier Room which was a fair walk from Reception but very quiet with a view of the airfield.

The shower wasn’t terribly powerful. We were a long walk including stairs and 2 floors up in the lift, which wasn’t ideal for a dog-friendly room. We coped but it’s best to have easier access to outdoors…

Another great stay. However the pool & jacuzzi were closed for part of our stay on both days which is very disappointing as this is one of the reasons we stay here frequently.

Friendly welcoming & helpful staff. Modern and attractive entrance with cool lemon water dispenser. Nice touch on a hot day! Then coffee/ tea in the morning on the entrance table. Clean facilities and room size was fine for us and happy that the bathroom had a bath. Lovely breakfast area lay out. Little play house there for the kids and colouring table. Clean, tidy & well organized, the food was abundant and tasty. Great theres a pool too. A very nice hotel, we enjoyed our stay.

Though alot of parking, the spaces are quite small and went to my car to find a vehicle parked very close to my driver side. I need space to get the kids in though that time of the morning there were more spaces round the other side, so I drove near to the wheel chair access entrance to get my pram up, elderly mum and kids in.

We asked to swap rooms on arrival, as the first room faced the busy road and was noisy. Our second room, on the back of the hotel was much better. Very good value for money. Great breakfast.

Unfortunately our visit coincided with one of their regular, frequent, 'over 30s' events and the DJ was playing very loud music until one thirty in the morning, so no sleep until then To make matters worse, we then got a phone call on the room phone at 2:15, from the DJ ! Said he had been told to ring our number... Really think that at the very least, a warning about the noise would have been appropriate and perhaps the hotel needs to consider its overnight guests as well as the party goers.

Such a beautiful hotel! It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and had such a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were stunning, with lovely colours and tasteful décor, and the facilities were excellent. What really made our stay special, though, was the incredibly friendly and attentive staff, who made us feel so welcome throughout our visit. The food was absolutely delicious, and every meal was a pleasure. I had such an amazing time here with my partner, and we created some wonderful memories. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The only constructive feedback I have is that the garden view from our windows could benefit from a bit of trimming. Aside from that, everything else was excellent.

No sign to the reception area. Walked down the stairs and was greeted by a pleasant male receptionist. Stair lift was out of order. Had seen pictures of the standard rooms which was nothing like the room we was given. Our room was tiny as was the bed. The mattress was way too bouncy. Every move jostled the other. A pillow case was inside out and had a large stain with a lumpy pillow. This was changed for us. Generally the bedding looked extremely clean. The shower floor was dirty and the water pressure was very low making the lovely fragranced shower gel a job to wash off. Disappointed with the restaurant food. Ordered a gluten free curry which arrived as clear runny liquid which was inedible. Rice was very bland and cold. Pizza was nice but no chilli oil available. Staff had no idea how to refund as normally work on reception but reduced the bill for us with their staff discount. Air con in room was good. Not sure I would book again due mainly to the size of the room

We are at present a family of five enjoying a long weekend break in the Holiday inn, Rochester. On arrival we experienced that the normal entrance was under repair and we had to negotiate stairs with suitcases. Fortunately we were greeted with a huge smile from the duty manager Damien who organised staff to carry our cases and checked us all in. All our rooms were clean, with comfortable beds and quiet. In the evening we all gathered in the lounge bar for pre dinner drinks. The bar girl Sophie was doing an excellent job serving a large group of 30 but still managed to recognise me saying “I’ll be with you shortly” She also recommended the wine for us to have with dinner. Also a big thank you to our servers at dinner Michelle & Janka who arranged our table, took our orders and explained some of our queries on the yummy menu. Breakfast was excellent with choices to suit everyone’s taste. I must say all the staff we encountered were extremely polite and helpful. If you are coming to Rochester this is the place to stay. Well done the Holiday Inn, Rochester.

The shower unit has no safety handles. Also their is no system to call hotel reception. Either from the bathroom or room The better rooms were a long way from reception.

Basin in sink kept blocking Shower - Shower tray wasn't deep enough and as there was only one glass partition. Water was pouring onto the bathroom floor needing to use towels to mop up excess. Could see the bottom of the bathroom door where water had warped the wood on previous occasions. Needed to be sealed and repainted.
