I loved the layout of the room and the bed was really comfortable

There was nothing I didn’t really like the only thing I would have done differently was maybe added bath robes to the more expensive rooms

The room was spotless and very comfortable beds. Lovely room, beautifully decorated and spacious. All staff were super friendly, helpful and so welcoming to us and our dog. Breakfast was delicious.

Me and my son enjoyed our stay here,staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. Food was very good as well very fresh and flavoursome. Very handy for the historic dock yard which was great as well. Overall a nice stay .

Places to eat, shop and drink. - Breakfast was amazing, quality ingredients, plenty of choice from continental to cooked. - Overall theme and decor was fitting with area. - Room amenities were great, tea, coffee machine, biscuits, hairdryer, toiletries, iron and board. - Comfortable large bed. - Good room space. - Fantastic range and quality of food and drink from the bar/restaurant. - Ample parking. - Live music on Fridays but you could not hear that beyond the bar. - Lovely outdoor eating area.

- The fans are not good for the rooms. Yes, they're Dyson but in the rooms we had they did nothing to cool us.

It's worth paying a bit extra for one of the heritage rooms with a balcony, a really lovely room with a huge bed, floor to ceiling windows and large balcony area with a view across the marina. The staff are really friendly and sweet, I felt very comfortable and safe there. Lots of chain restaurants on the doorstep and the pub food itself is v good.

It's a minor point but the shower is a showerhead above the bath, which doesn't fully detach if you want to rinse yourself quickly. I couldn't get the bifold doors on the bath to work, so it was a bit difficult getting in and out of the shower, might be tricky if you had limited mobility,

The location to shops, bars and restaurants was excellent. In addition, it was only a 5 to 10 minutes walk to the Chatham Dockyards Museum.

Cooked breakfast was good apart from the eggs. The poached eggs were undercooked i.e. the white was not fully cooked and the yolk didnt apoear cooked at all. I didn't eat them as a didnt want to run the risk of getting salmonella. In hindsight i should have complained.

The hotel/pub has a lovely atmosphere, the rooms are really cozy and nice. Breakfast was great quality.

No AC in the room, so it was quite warm. Opening the window and using the provided Dyson fan helped somewhat.

Shower was too powerful (room 4), wasteful of water. Heatwave but Dyson useless, not enough windows to open. Whole facility looked a bit shabby, needs painting etc.

Mooie ruime kamer met uitzicht op de haven. Goed ontbijt. Avondeten was ook goed. Prima hotel op doorreis naar de Shuttle.

Lovely room but small and very hot. It was during the JUly heatwaves. Got room facilities with drinks and the offer of a vacuum flask of milk for making tea. Good choice at breakfast.

Secondary glazing and although there was a fan it was very hot (heatwave at the time). Bathroom tiny with over bath shower that was awkward with slip proof plastic mat. Seemed a dated design consodering the look of the room overall. The menu in the evening was very pub-grub eg chips with everything, and the outdoor seating was well used. The setting spoilt by a general untidiness. At 9am going for breakfast the muzak was too loud. Do you need music at 9am?

Staff went out of their way to help us and make our stay comfortable. Great location, free parking, extensive breakfast menu (all freshly cooked), comfortable room with great view of the Marina. Will definitely come back when next in the area.

The weather, heatwave in July. Hardly their fault!

We were there during a heat wave so it was very hot in the room , we were provided with 2 fans but air con would have helped

The location is great and the staff in the bar and restaurant area were polite and happy. The parking is free when you check in. The bathroom is lovely and clean as was the room.

It was roasting in our room which we payed £170 for one night as it had an outside terrace. However all but one of the doors were broken and screwed up. The one door left was extremely difficult to open and if my wife and I had to escape it might have proved problematic. A receptionist came up with some tools and opened the remaining doors and windows but clearly they were in a bad state of disrepair and needed replacing. This led to us staying in for the night as we had no intention of having someone come to the room to screw the doors and windows shut. I complained to reception and they said there was nothing they could do and I’d have to call booking.com who in turn called the hotel. Were told by the representative that the hotel said that if we vacated the room we would be given a full refund but having had a couple of beers and having nowhere to go I said this was totally unacceptable. In the end we had a refund of half the cost which in my mind is really poor!! Anyway here’s a warning if you pay for room 12 - make sure you can get out!!

The setting is great with views of the marina

Het thema van de zee/vis/zeeleven werd op een originele manier in de decoratie van het hotel geïntegreerd. Zowel in de kamers als in de pub en het restaurant. Superfijn en gezellig! Het restaurant keek uit op de kleine haven, fantastisch! Bonus: er is een publieke parking recht voor het hotel, waar het hotel voor gratis parkeren zorgde. Op de parking is er een ruim aanbod van snelladers voor de auto. Dus we konden de dag nadien zonder zorgen vertrekken.

The room was too hot curtains not closed.towel rack on full not able to turn it off. Staff unable to help us. As the room was uninhabitable we had to find alternative accommodation. We would like a refund. The staff knew the rooms were not but did not inform us beforehand.

It was a busy pub but no one cleared the tables of dirty crockery and glasses for a long time and when they did, they didn’t clean the surface of the table. Therefore tables were unavailable to sit at.

There was a very bad drains smell in the bathroom

Location within walking distance of Historic dockyard and with views across to Chatham Marina. Large room, comfy bed, powerful shower, fresh milk for teas and coffees. Plenty of hanging space and drawers. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board provided. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Key to outside reception door for easy egress.

The place is a bit shabby in places especially the upstairs hallway (half painted).It was very hot when we stayed which highlighted the difficulties with regulating temperature in a room with glass shutters (a heritage feature I'm guessing) and internal sliding glazing. However a fan was provided and we eventually worked out a way to let air in the room at night and still have privacy. The shower was so powerful it was hard to contain the water in the bath tub.

Our 2nd time staying here We like the location overlooking the marina and it was central for our purpose of visiting family

Although the bedrooms are cleverly thought out and kept clean and comfortable-I did ask for a room overlooking the marina -but on each visit was told they were fully booked

SERVICE is awful 😖 I am long standing customer and have had many up and downs with this pub. I've never felt the need to leave a review until yesterday. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken plus coffee and a coke. I've had this dish before and normally you can expect food to be served within 15 minutes. After waiting for more than 25 minutes and not having any communications about the delay I was forced to ask at the bar where my food was. This was the exact response I had: "I can see you ordered at 12.46. We are now at 1.11pm. You are not the only customer we have and we cannot just cook just for you. I'll check where you're food is." The lady then calls the kitchen and asks where the salad is. She then says to me it's on its way, do you still want it? I asked for refund as the whole response was patronising and had no apology for any of the lack of service or communication. She then proceeded to ask the manager for a refund and in a loud voice in front of other customers said "she wants a refund as she's had to wait for her food". The manager just processed it and told me it would be on my card layer today. Again no apology. What concerns me is the lack of accountability for the delay for a salad with some grilled chicken and the lack of apology for recognising standards have not been met. Locals I've spoken too have also mentioned this decline in service.

Really enjoyed the hotel. The staff were great, very friendly and attentive. Live music on the Friday of our stay. The location was very good (next to the marina) and only a short walk from The Chatham Dockyard site. EV chargers nearby (all of which seem to be working).

Je moest iedere keer om een kop koffie vragen bij het ontbijt, thermos of kannetje was gemakkelijker.

Great area, the bar and restaurant are very nice down stairs. Really enjoyed my breakfast in the morning. The room its self was nice and modern decorated.

No aircon in the room, so was far too hot and I struggled to sleep. There was a fancy fan provided but it just wasnt enough. Would have liked a fridge in the room for the water provided instead of it just being room temp. Wasn't a fan of the shower, think this needs upgraded to a stand alone shower cubical.

Always had a fairly nice meal in the ship& trade but my visit on 17/5 was a little disappointing, ordered a spaghetti dish and asked for condiments including Parmesan cheese to be told this would be extra somewhat petty I think.

We loved the view over the marina and the proximity to the Historic Dockyard. Breakfast menu has a good range of choices and the evening menu similarly. Car parking was right next to the hotel.

Update: Following my original review, I raised this matter directly with the restaurant and subsequently escalated it to head office at Shepherd Neame. While I received a response from the General Manager, my key concerns — including whether CCTV footage was reviewed — were not addressed. I have since contacted head office and, to date, have not received any response. Given the seriousness of the situation, particularly as it involved my 87-year-old mother who lives with dementia, I find the lack of engagement disappointing. I would still welcome a proper review of the incident so that the circumstances can be assessed objectively. I hope the company will now take the opportunity to review this matter properly and provide a response.

I had a nice evening pint at Ship and Trades pub before returning to my hotel. A nice pub, I didn’t have food but what the people at the next table had looked good. I had a Spitfire Lager, very tasty beer, not too smooth, a perfect beer.
