Very friendly staff. Clean. Comfortable. Good food. Clean pool. Enjoyed the warm water. Lovely hot tub.

Hot tub a bit small. Really only suitable for 2 adults at a time. Else would be too close to one another.b

The corridors hadn't been cleaned (crisps etc on the floor). The curtains were stained. The bathroom was very small - not much room to turn around.

I found that the receptionist wasn’t very polite. She didn’t smile. She didn’t make me feel comfortable. She also proceeded to tell me that my check-in wasn’t until 238 and obviously I shaved my book in and it said two but I just didn’t like the way that she made up a lie. The toilet was broken also it’s all I could hear all night was the toilet.

Bed, very uncomfortable. Me & my partner only managed to get a couple of hours sleep after a very long day at a wedding nearby.

Tv in room never kept signal. I like to have it on in the background as I work on my laptop but kept getting distracted by the dropouts on every channel. So turned it off and didnt use again. Also. A swimming pool locker upgrade so they take either the current £1 coin to lock or your room key would be good. I'm not pro-cashless but don't normally have cash/coins on me.

My stay was great. The manager was brilliant caring and kind, love her 😊

The new payment system messed up my payment but the manager was great which made up for it.

Very friendly, professional and helpful staff everywhere in the hotel from Reception, to the restaurant at breakfast, the bar, housekeeping and the leisure centre. The hotel has a nice, welcoming atmosphere as a result. Facilities are very good and extensive with a well equipped leisure centre (pool and gym). The room was very clean, and quite spacious (ample space to put things), and with a very comfortable bed with good pillows. Bathroom was very clean and had a large and nicely appointed walk-in shower. Very soft new towels. The hotel lounge-bar has a comfortable feel, clean and modern. The pool was a reasonable size for a swim, and also very clean. Lots of parking, so it was always easy to come and go. The staff could not do enough to help. Excellent service throughout our stay.

The Location and it was easy to get too. We felt safer here than our original purposed hotel. It was very last minute so was pleased they could accommodate us.

The hotel was extremely clean , the staff were so friendly and helpful from reception to the restaurant staff . The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming . We would definitely stay again .

Our only slight criticism was that the bed was quite small . It’s fine for one adult but for two adults it was a bit cosy ! The pillows were also a little uncomfortable.

The welcome from Wes was lovely, he was great. The room was fine - the bed was comfy and the room was quiet so we got a good night's sleep. It was pretty small and the bathroom fan ran all night which was irritating, that constant whirr.

The changing rooms for the swimming pool really need a refurb - the hairdryers don't work, the swim suit dryer in the men's changing rooms doesn't work, lockers don't work and it looks really worn down. The smell of urine on Saturday afternoon, in the ladies' changing rooms, was overwhelming but had gone on Sunday morning but I was generally really glad I had flip flops and didn't have to stand on the brutal plastic mat or come in contact with the grotty looking floor. Once in the pool it was lovely - great temperature and did feel clean

I feel it needs an upgrade comparing to other holiday inns-the room furniture including tv and bathrooms.

Good location, easy to drive into town centre yet easy to get back on fast roads to continue your journey the next day. As always with Holiday Inn, it's nice to have a pool to unwind in after a long day on the road, especially in this summer's heat. Air con in the room was properly controllable and worked well, again a big plus in this summer's heat.

We stayed for 2 nights on the 17th/18th July the first thing i noticed was the warm reception from the staff and i felt they were glad that i had chosen Holiday Inn to stay at. Our room was super clean and the bathroom was spotless with some tea and coffee we could use which was very welcome. Had drinks in the bar and again super polite and friendly staff and the bar area was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was superb the choice was great hot breakfast cold breakfast what ever you wanted. The manager and staff are a credit to holiday inn and cant praise them enough keep up the great standards.

ensuite shower/toilet very very small. Room was on the first floor and a long walk down the corridor, not very good with my mobility issues. As usual, not a very good selection of beers served in hotel bar, and since it is a long way from the nearest pub i had to bring my own in, unfortunately no bottle opener in the room.

The staff were so attentive and friendly. The swimming pool and jacuzzi on site was handy we took our 2 year old swimming and after she enjoyed her free ice cream from the bar.

For me the bed was a bit soft but this is just personal preference and wouldn't stop me from booking again

Dreadful room. First room was dirty in bathroom, tv didn’t work, told reception who to their credit did move us to another room with working tv. This room apart from the tv was just as bad as the first room. Dated, dirty bathroom, stains in the toilet pan. In general just tired and in need of a makeover. Booked in for 2 nights, but due to state of room we only stayed for 1 night. Will not be returning.

The room was excellent with 2 chairs which is a must when staying for 5 nights like we were,bed was comfy and clean as was the room, Breakfast was excellent with good choice and friendly staff, which was more then can be said for the evening meals which we had booked and decided after 2 evenings to cancel and eat out due to meals being substandard and poorly cooked and staff who in are opinion was unfriendly and not interested in doing their jobs, ie customer service.I would like to thank the manager for taking onboard are compliant regarding the evening meals and making the necessary refunds on are account, If it was not for the issues with the evening meals and poor evening service and having to eat out i would have been scoring this hotel highly.

Only the standard of the evening meals and the service which was the worse we have ever experienced,and leading us for the first time to complain about anything regarding are many hotel stays. which is a pity and put a damper on are stay.

Travelling back to Scotland after getting off the ferry in Harwich so it was about 9pm when we arrived. Check in was very easy and the staff member was very friendly and helpful (as were all the staff we encountered). Room had air con which was very much appreciated. Great breakfast and nice bar/restaurant area. Good location for our one night stay on our journey home with easy access to the relevant roads.

Room maybe a little dated with a pretty small bathroom and 'over the bath' shower but nothing very major really.

Not that they can change this but toilet/shower was very tight. If one person was in there it was virtually impossible for the other to get in.

Great location, very quiet and set back from the road. Easy access from all car parks and plenty of parking spaces. Lot of green space to walk the dog around and the site was clean and tidy. The room was lovely, clean, comfortable and most importantly the aircon worked a charm in the scorching heatwave. Staff were all very polite and helpful and the whole checking in process was as easy as possible.

Rooms could have had more tea and coffee provided and a mini-fridge to store items would have been great. Also another plug socket near the bed would be ideal for charging phones overnight. Bins could also be bigger and spare bags provided to help dispose of any rubbish in the room more easily.

we made a mistake in the reservation we wanted the IHG orwell and ended up there endless corridors

There is a very kind and friendly lady on reception who always goes the extra mile with a smile, she made a good impression the last two times that I have stayed here. Unfortunately I forgot to take note of her name but I know she is Portuguese. The bed is comfy, location useful for my business trip and the food is very tasty.

The steam room and changing rooms could do with a freshen up. Quite a few options on the menu were unavailable.

Instead of a wardrobe with opening doors right by the front door, it would be more practical to build an open wardrobe with a sliding door. There were also no coat hangers so I've ended up forgetting my coat after leaving it in the wardrobe.

The TV in my room didn't work. I spent 15 minutes trying to make it work then called reception for help but there was no answer. Gave up and read a book!

Good breakfast plenty of choice.

I was on the 2nd floor with 2 children on my own and lots of luggage and no lift and a long walk which I thought was ridiculous in a hotel of that size. Definitely should be a consideration when allocating rooms or at least state very clearly customers that there is no lift. When I spoke to the reception after I had you d the room they were very apologetic offered to assist in the morning and to move rooms but I declined as I wanted to get the children fed and put to bed. Gentleman was great it wasn’t his fault.

The room was spacious but the bathroom was small and very tight to move around in, the room was clean and tidy and when I asked for it to be cleaned for the seconded night it was done so.

I booked breakfast with my stay and found it was served cold, this was very disapointing for a hotel of this standard, when I complained to the staff they told me that I should have mentioned it earlier and they would have cooked a special one for me. As the room was crowded I thought that most of the people there would have had the same problem.

Phoned ahead to tell the hotel I would be checking in late, very pleasant and helpful lady made a note of it. Once arrived after 23:40, there was a wait for reception with no one being on the desk. After the guest in front of me was checked in, I was then checked in by the rude receptionist and finger pointed directions to my room with no details of food times and facilities. Outdated, dirty room. Very very small bathroom, barely close the door when using the toilet. Bar area and dining room were good and the food was pretty decent. The staff for the most were really pleasant and helpful.

Great service and support from reception team - particularly Wez who helped find us another room - the rooms are small ! Breakfast was fabulous - very clean and hygienic and reception at breakfast was wonderful. Gluten free options available and we were very impressed

Good location, staff were helpful and ordered a taxi for us to go into town. The room was very clean and we had a very nice breakfast.

The bathroom was very small. The sandwiches at lunch lacked enough filling, but came with crisps and coleslaw which was nice.

This was stop gap. A bed for the night. We arrived late and left relatively early. The breakfast was fine. Room service all night is really important to us for a stop like this.

The room was disappointing. The bathroom was poorly designed and too small. The shower tray was too shallow to avoid water spilling onto the floor as the water damage to the door showed. You had to be a contortionist to get into the bathroom and close the door

The restaurant was poorly staffed on a Saturday evening of a bank holiday weekend plus after a horrendous long wait we were told they had run out of fish and chips plus other choices of food . Seems like bad management as it was only the first night of a bank holiday weekend
