The room was very nice and clean, the staff were lovely and the breakfast was great 👍
Nothing
The staff are friendly. The pool and spa area are ok. My wife had a massage which she said was very good. The restaurant setting is nice and the breakfast was nice with good ingredients. The location is within a short drive to the waterfront.
It is tired. The reception appears nice and maintained however beyond that the hotel is needing some attention. Our room was a good size and presented nicely however there were stains on the wallpaper, the arm chair next to the bed had some large stains on it as did the bedside cabinet handle which was next to it - I suspect it had been a spilt drink - didn’t look good on a light coloured arm chair and I chose not to use it. The early check in fees are rather expensive at £15 however on checking out I found out that this was actually £15 per hour - which felt unreasonable especially as the spa treatment had been booked by the hotel for 1pm - the reception staff did only charge me £15 on questioning it.
Lovely bar food, and a nice breakfast
Needs updating, smell from bathroom
Facilities and hotel staff excluding barman chefs son very rude shouldn't be working in hospitality.
Barman
Breakfast is excellent
All okay
A comfortable, quite lavishly furnished hotel in a pleasant location. Very reasonably sized room. Some attentive reception staff. Very competitive room-rate.
Breakfast was rather disappointing - the cooked items were kept in a rather lukewarm buffet cabinet. This actually put me off trying the other items. For anyone with mobility issues, lots of walking inside the hotel and several sets of stairs. Quite a social gulf between the bar and restaurant
Setting was good and the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. The pool is lovely with a good range of depths. Lovely bar area and both evening meal and breakfast was excellent. Particularly impressed with the GF offerings.
Nothing was bad. The hotel could do with a lick of paint and is beginning to look a bit tired in places.
leaving
rooms are tired shower had no pressure tv was the size of a computer monitor and for the price you would think breakfast would be included
Stayed many times. Always a real treat. Love the whole complex.
Lovely location and grand hotel. The front entrance was beautiful decorated with marble floors. There was lots of parking. Quick check in and check out. Friendly staff, overall good service.
The bar area and bar food were nice
The rooms are very dated and not clean looking the bedded definitely need changing not nice
The location is handy but quiet in lovely grounds. Parking is easy
Single rooms very small and hot. Staff could do with more training. Hotel's old world charm is compromised by too many things going on, i.e. events, spa etc. The reception decor is out of keeping with the original features.
The pool area is nice and the bed was comfortable
Decor is very dated and needs a good refurb, communal areas full of clutter, breakfast very basic, no decaf coffee or tea in rooms
Comfortable clean room. Nice bathroom
Property needs updating. Looking tired esp the exterior
Was nice, all good really, nice grounds.
Was quite warm - was a hot day though. Stayed in President's Suite hence average VFM score
Clean, comfortable, very high standard of food with generous portions, pleasant and helpful staff.
The bar area is clean and very tidy but perhaps a little too functional. The dining room was excellent. Perhaps the bar area might be less canteen-like. But that certainly wouldn't stop me from staying there again.
Lovely grounds amazing facilities plenty of parking
There was nothing to not like I stayed for 5 days. Staff were lovely reception managers so helpful I also had an Indian head massage lovely
The room was very spacious with a very comfy bed. Staff at the hotel were accommodating, polite and friendly
The signal on the TV was very poor making it impossible to watch anything
It’s was very good
Falta variedad
Staff were friendly and helpful, leisure facilities were good, breakfast was adequate.
Standard room on the second floor, very small, could be classed as a single, dormer window was small with very little light. No fridge in the room, limited electrical outlets especially in this age of mobile phones and accessories. General decor to these rooms could do with an uplift.
Lovely grand house
The pool
Location, staff and breakfast.
No fridge and air condition in the room.
The pool, sauna and steam room. Buffet breakfast was adequate lots of self help.
Very, very dated needs new approach modernisation from the late eighties and early 90s. The furniture in our room was tatty and worn armrests were threadbare. Out of 3 hotel options we chose the most expensive and very disappointed. The shower head was not overhead it was waist height good to shower your belly button.
Everything
Nothing
We like our stay, everything was amazing, the staff very friendly, room clean and comfortable.
Nice from the outside.
The attitude of the manager and children running a mock loud and unsupervised.
Some redeemable features would be the bathroom was as expected and the lovely concierge man who worked a long shift.
The hotel has a charming vintage style, although the standard room felt a little dated, with some of the furniture appearing to have been there for quite some time. The owners/managers should run more frequent reviews of their cleaning standards, including the towels for stains, the bed for strands of hair, and especially the kettle.
The swimming pool the rooms and the decor of the hotel
I liked everything but the price that booking charged us was expensive.and notice that the family room were for 4 person but booking.com accomadated 3 person and that why had to do extra rooms. This is very unreasonable by them. Please check with them about this. When we checking the room all family rooms could accomated 4 person.
Location was fine.
You can hear all the noise from other bedrooms (doors closing, wardrobe opening, people talking) which indicates the property has poor insulation. The main drawback is the noise. Secondly, the pool is extremely busy with many kids and adult mixed together. You try to get away from noise and kids, you'd end up with a place like this so rowdy! The shower rooms in the pool were not clean. The sink in room 318 is slightly blocked, the water does not drain as it should. We decided to leave and forfeited the 1 night stay. I would like to mention, the staff at the reception was kind and tried offering us another room. It was a nice thought but I politely declined. We didn't sleep well, we couldn't wait to return home.
Room was really clean and spacious and pool and spa facilities really nice
Poor WiFi and weak shower in room
It was a room to sleep in overnight. Looks pretty from the outside but you don’t see this facade on check in. It’s like checking into the service entrance. It’s very tacky inside. It has a real identity crisis going on. Terrible design clashes like 5 different mediocre DIYers all had a go at designing a hotel interior and no one won.
The decor was terrible. There always a paint pot in the cupboard and the decor was a total mosh mash of different styles and materials which was very jarring and tacky.
Location
No air conditioning in my room
All good
All good
Friendly staff
Some cob webs on ceiling in room! Some tiles missing in pool. No toilet in changing rooms,
Great parking good food
The staff, particularly bar and waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. When we complained about the first room we were moved to one better but not exactly as I would describe a "garden room".
As mentioned we had to complain about the first room. Only one chair, one set of towels and a shower fan that sounded like a jet taking off . We also were missed by the cleaners one day and had to request the visit . As the water in the rooms is not suitable for drinking a bottle of water is left in the room. Which it wasn't on the late cleaning day. So we had to fetch a jug of water from the bar . Small things , I appreciate but irritating! As with another MGM hotel we've stayed at, the reception is spectacular, the accommodation less so .
Beautiful and luxurious Manor House with a spa
No air conditioning on a very hot weekend. Given a fan and room with small window but not sufficient. Was given extra bottles of water free due to heat.
for the price compared to the location it is difficult to fault - yes a little tired but not enough to ruin the stay - was very clean and exceptionally good value compared to other Booking .com properties
AS I SAY for the price it exceeded expectations
very friendly staff lovely food especially the breakfast
Quiet setting, helpful staff and clean rooms. The spa was excellent too
Rooms were a bit dated, the bed wasn’t very comfortable
Good nights sleep. Comfy bed.
Dated. Spa needs a lot of works. Tiles missing from the bottom of pool.
Lovely quite location in the woods. Great facilities, lovely staff.
N/A
Food was good, especially the evening meals. And breakfast was ample and aq good selection. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very nice. Room average, but comfortable. All staff very friendly.
Overflow car park had a lot of rubbish in it, which detracted from the grounds. Access through a large estate, would have been difficult if we had been on public transport.
Overall experience was shocking. mould in the shower, rude staff, whooping £15/hour for late check out, took over 25 mins to check in when arrived at 230 in the morning, would never go there again.WiFi was terrible.
Train all the staff to be friendly, clean the rooms properly. Improve wifi
Swimming pool and leisure facilities.
Paid via Booking.com, upon check in, was asked for a credit card holding fee to cover any incidentals, I was unable to do this using Google Pay on the phone and the receptionist then asked for my Credit card details which I refused, particularly given it was in Public. We discovered a hole rather than a fridge in the room, so not sure what 'incidentals' he was alluding to, certainly not the missing mini bar. The hotel is described as an extension to a C16 Hunting Lodge, which seems appealing and a reason for choosing this Hotel. The Hotel is a late C20 building with separate chalet units built around a car park in the style of a Travelodge nothing Tudor about it. The interior is described as Traditionally decorated, Magnolia walls, polystyrene ceiling tiles, Tartan carpet, black plastic glitter effect splashback cladding in the lift and bathroom, random marble tiling, a huge portrait presumably of the CEO in reception and random furniture from some granny in the late 70's.
Location , free car parking , reception service very helpful.
Gym it's ok , but some machines could be replaced ,for more modern ones
The property was nice, a little dated.
The strange smell from the air con in the morning.
Location
Room was not clean despite very fancy reception furniture and a glossy appearance .
Quiet room and helpful staff
The room was quite spacious. Stayed over with my sister after a visit to Jimmy's farm. We both had a swim on arriving before getting ready to eat in The Garden Bar. Excellent food and lovely quiet surroundings. Breakfast next morning was excellent - good choice of food, the coffee machine was great and very easy to use
The outside of the windows could do with some maintenance, but that didn't distract from the lovely decor on the interior
The chef was excellent, the quality of the food was fabulous
False advertising, offered two breakfast, two days for £50 next day we were told £16.50 per person per day, broken word, broken trust, website clearly shows 3 course set dinner available then told it was no longer available, they said it was no longer on website, I checked and took pictures, it was still there- false advertising. Small rooms, no air con, not enough sockets, no usb sockets.
The location and the room decoration was wonderful . The presidential suite was very spacious and beautiful bathroom. I loved the smell of the hand wash/ cream /shower gel that was available. The pool facilities were great .
The bed was exceptionally hard and uncomfortable and had to go home to get my thick mattress topper to manage to sleep on it. The settee looked nice but again hard & uncomfortable, couldn’t put my legs out anywhere.
place is absolutely lovely but the guests there really let it down argueing and trying to fight each other I made a complaint and was told I coukd go sit in my room and then when I decided that I was going to pack my stuff and leave was told I wouldnt receive a refund.
The staff wasnt very helpful towards me when I said will i get a refund due to people argueing and trying ti fight each other
Beautifully decorated & comfortable bed, and really friendly staff. The breakfast was lovely!
If I have to say anything that I disliked it would be the location because we weren’t driving but a lovely hotel.
Great location without being in the centre. Local enough for taxis to be reasonably priced. Plenty parking so no need to worry about leaving car and travelling to town centre locations. Staff were lovely, I was a solo traveller visiting friends but felt safe and happy whilst in the hotel.
Nothing really, other than no air con in the room when it was 37° outside. I did have a fan but UK not geared up for this kind of heat.
Loverly area for a get away
Very clean with plenty of facilities.
Nothing to dislike
Nice pool. Comfy beds. The bar/restaurant felt cozy. We managed to get some herbal tea from reception.
We were actually really looking forward to staying at this place, but the pictures definitely made it look better than it was. We were surprised that we were not in the main building, but in adjacent bungalows. Luckily it was not that hot, otherwise it might have been quite uncomfortable. The place is a bit out of the way (especially without a car), so we had thought the grounds would be bigger and the "brook" more accessible.
Les salles de restauration dans la partie historique du bâtiment , la piscine, l’accueil par le personnel de l’hôtel .

Nix
Lovely hotel, with helpful friendly staff. Our room was clean and the bed was made fresh every day. The swimming pool was well kept and heated to a nice temperature. The breakfast and other meals were very good with a good selection available.
Not so much didn't like but maybe would be good to have toilets in the changing rooms. There is one single toilet in the pool area though.
Clean. Large room. Friendly and efficient staff Food was good and value for money Lovely pool area and nice to have warm water
Nothing bad to say although it would be nice to be able to see the brook a bit more as it is quite overgrown. Could just be the time of year and maybe will be tidied up soon
I liked the parking for disabled people. The buffet breakfast was well maintained. The receptionist was concerned about my ability to walk to a 3rd floor room. So changed my booking to a ground floor room.
The furniture is very worn and has holes in it. It was promoted as an upgraded“Club” room but it didn’t look like it.
The breakfast was excellent. The spa area was also excellent.
We had dinner. My partner had the duck which was superb. I had the chicken which I’m afraid wasn’t great. It was rubbery. We had Calamari to start which was great. For desert we had the roasted pear which was absolutely fantastic.
Position
Garden disappointing , needs better seating
Not much
Dated, no air conditioning, musty smell, really uncomfortable bed
Fab place but the bar shut at 10pm a bit early for me
The bar closed too early especially for a hotel
The Room was lovely and beds were so comfy
Only 1 plug socket other side of room Paint work needs sorting getting outdated also next too none plug sockets. Just the pool has issues lots of loose tiles caught my foot on 1 of them and showed the reception person but they never said nothing
Everything
No air conditioning
Clean, bed was comfy, staff very good and helpful
Food.
The swimming pool was better than the rest of the hotel
The place is tired and in need of some investment to help improve the look of cleanliness
Staff are lovely and food is great
Looking abit shabby, needs tlc . The jacuzzi wasn’t working one time and then the sauna was out , disappointing when you go for a day spa.
Easy to get to from the road and quiet location - surrounded by greenery and a brook. A big hotel - looks like there are few themed nights/entertainment on there. Breakfast was fine.
The bar was quite small and didn’t seem to fit with some of the more period/character setting of the hotel. The car park is huge - but also rammed - we had to park in the furtherest away part which was more mud/field like. There was some strong smelling weed smokers about.
Comfortable bed
Unfortunately the room was very hot and stuffy, towels were hard and smell of damps
The staff were amazing
Super clean
We stayed at the lovely Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel for 2 nights for a birthday treat for my partner. On arrival the entrance was amazing as was the reception area, very clean and with wonderful Ethnic decor it felt very grand. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was large and well equipped, beautuful walk in Rain shower, well stocked hospitality tray. It was very hot but there was a small fan . There was a skylight window but we only found out how to open it as we were leaving! So maybe sone instructions on that would be useful. The leisure facilities were great, lovely pool and spa bath very clean. My Parrner used the gym everyday which he enjoyed. We atein the Garden room both nights and the food was excellent and high standard at a reasonable price. Pleasent atmosphere. Breakfast was buffet style, (not my favourite choice) but on this occasion it was excellent, well stocked great produce and HOT which is always a bonus. Cold buffet was again well stocked lovely fresh fruit selection. Only gripe was tge Coffee machine on the furst morning was'nt working, not a problem to me as a tea drinker but my Partner likes coffee with his breakfast, however it had been rectifyed the next morning. To sum up, we had a wonderful stay in a grand old building which has been sympathetically decorated. Beautuful grounds, great food and lovely staff, a shout to the cleaning team who done a grand job. Would we stay here again most definately. Thank you Muthu Belstead Brook.
The location was ideal
The only thing was there wasn’t any usb charging in the plugs As it was a last minute thing I couldn’t charge my phone as I only had a car charger with me
Great location, nice and quiet. Staff were vert helpful and friendly.
Some areas had lots of cobweds
Nice big property with features
Rooms were stuffy and very hot
Mooi chique hotel, vriendelijk personeel
Op het oog schoon, als je wat beter kijkt kan het schoner
Staff were polite on reception
It is much more tired than shown in the photographs. The price was far too high for the facilities and room provided - incredibly tired bedroom and furniture, didn’t feel clean and the bathroom floor was wet and towel wet when we arrived. Wouldn’t stay here again.
Zwembad was een leuke plus. Lekker gegeten. Heel behulpzaam personeel.
Gebouw is aan opknapbeurt toe.
I came away with my daughters for the weekend, they loved it they both had treatments which were enjoyed very much, the staff were very friendly and always happy to help, the spa was very clean, food was amazing, will definitely be back soon.
Staff good food good
Price of room was over priced
Spa
Lack of cleanliness and poor standards
The staff in the spa were friendly and nice. And it is very clean.
The room was very stuffy and the place looks a little tired.
Very disappointed with my room. Double for single use - not really - although bed was double. The room was in need of some TLC and was depressing and dark. It’s only hotel of this rating that Ive stayed in where the towels were threadbare & worn. I was on an organised trip but travelling alone and had booked for an extra night, but decided to cut my stay short and leave early Staff were friendly and helpful, hotel grounds were leafy and spacious but my room on ground floor let the hotel down
Pool Bar food Setting
Cooler in room for bottled water or a water cooler like the one in the pool area somewhere else in the hotel
Needs air conditioning
There was nothing to dislike.hotel is just amazing all facilities resturant .bar. leisure centre rooms spotless all staff so friendly & helpfull.
Nothing
We booked into this place for a 4 day break. And I thought I would look to see if it had improved. Our experience was dreadfully awful and we only stayed 1night as we had to sleep somewhere and left the next morning. It is poorly managed, maintained and does not give anything remotely value for money. I’m even surprised it’s still running.
Great environment, clean great rooms
Nothing to report on
There was plenty of parking and outside space. The shower was good. We stayed during a heatwave and they thoughtfully left a fan in the bedroom as there was no air conditioning. Breakfast and dinner were good.
Our room was small and rather dark with only one small window.
The staff was so helpful especially Lorraine
Beautiful building, lovely outside space
Feels tired, no fridge or AC in room
restaurant was separately managed and run and was exceptional except for breakfast staff being pushy and rushing us. leisure facilities were as good as previously known.
having known this hotel in the past it is a shadow of its former status. we found the whole hotel in poor condition especially cleanliness. we will not stay there again and would not recommend it. management tried to appease but the place needs a complete shutdown and a deep clean. there are visible repairs needed and cleaning staff need training as we observed a complete lack of knowledge of germ prevention or the spreading of germs in that the same cleaning cloths were used continually completely cross contaminating every surface and no use of cleaning products.
Location is great for visiting Jimmy's farm. Sunday roast was great 👍, stayed in Presidential Suite which was large and comfortable 😀
Staff need to speak to guests more, ie Reception, Restaurant and breakfast room, not very welcoming in any of these areas, only replied to questions when approached. However staff in the bar were helpful 👌
The hotel was great and we had booked the Admiral Suite which was lovely. We had staff help with my luggage and as I use a walking stick this was very helpful. Fabulous restaurant and dinner and breakfast was ok, everything a bit overcooked as had been sitting on the warmers for some time.
Our room, although lovely had so many cobwebs, on the blinds, on the doors, on the lights. The panelling in the single toilet was filthy and needed a good clean and whilst having the double doors which opened onto the back garden was lovely the balcony was covered with cigarette butts. We would stay again though as the staff were great and the location and dinner was really nice.
