Good Location; easy parking
Renovation to hotel rooms made it feel like you were in an office building still
Breafast was great,.room was quiet, price was good too.
Breafast area was too cold, a/c was just ok for the room, and entrance is a bit interesting. The court house is surounded by a hospital on 3 sides. Expected a lake view but, nope.
very quiet, good bed, breakfast was good
Very interesting. Pretty and good location. Views were lovely from our room
Building interesting
Breakfast poor. Oatmeal was at least a day old. Fruit was reused all three days we were there. Average. Like a super 8. Pillows were old and my pillowcase had mascara on it. Not mine! No one came to clean room on first day. Nothing. No tidy up. Asked them have someone come the next day. No one seemed to know what they were doing and super slow. We were put in basement. No view. No where to visit with guests. Disappointed.
No one cleaned the room. Usually someone makes the bed, refills the tea and coffee, empties the garbage. Staff seemed disorganized.
Rien
I liked it was a old courthouse it brought this glam spooky charm to it. Which I really liked.
I didnt like it was more then the Hilton with less. We felt like we got transported back into the eairly 2000s. We couldnt hook our phone up to the TV it was all satellite. There was one vending machine and it was empty. When we entered I felt like I was disturbing the front staff. I had breakfast included. Said we could have it in the room. I wasnt told a time or given a menu. And I was afraid to bother anyone to ask. So we didnt bother. It says its a 4 star hotel and its not at all. With what was on the site and Google. I was very disappointed. I thought it was going to be a cool experience but it wasnt. After driving from Edmonton, it was a place to sleep. Not worth 300$ plus my pet fee.
area around hotel is rundown.
The highlights of my stay were definitely the exceptional staff and the overall atmosphere. The gentleman running the complimentary breakfast was incredibly warm, personable, and provided fantastic local recommendations and directions. The housekeeping supervisor was equally impressive—highly professional and attentive to detail. Even though the hotel was completely sold out during my stay, the property never felt hectic or overcrowded, maintaining a remarkably calm and relaxed ambience. The front desk team also did everything they could to ensure a smooth experience. It’s a really cool boutique hotel, lots of stone and wood, really well done in its renovation. It was a wonderfully calm stay highlighted by outstanding hospitality from the breakfast and housekeeping teams, even if the property itself is showing a tiny bit of age since the extensive renovation.
The Price of course. But that goes for any hotel these days since 2021-23 massive 50% increase across the industry.
Location was good. Close to several good restaurants and a view of Lake Superior.
We were given a room on the "lower level". I would call it as in the basement. The first morning we went to the breakfast room at approx 7:20 am. It opens at 7 am. Several people in the room and no scrambled eggs left! We had to wait for another batch. Limited food selection. Trash can in the breakfast room was overflowing as soon as we got there. My wife spotted a bug in the bathroom the first night. I checked under the vanity and an absolute mess underneath. A face cloth, a toilet paper center cardboard, fluff and dust. At 3 am I used the bathroom and spotted 3 more bugs and trapped them under a soap dish. I took pics of course. for mgmt to see. Second day the hotel removed the debris under the vanity but did not vacuum or dust anything underneath. Note that we were given 2 options: a small discount payment with assurance the room would be cleaned or move to another room on the same level. We chose to stay in the room rather than gather up all our belongings and move. We would have preferred a cleaner room and on an upper floor instead of the discount. On the last day, there was no shortage of food in the breakfast room, so an improvement.
Very unique building and it was walking distance to Marina Park.
My first room was pretty dirty. The only room they could switch me to didn’t have air conditioning but because the window opened, it stayed cool with the breeze.
NA
AC was not working. Told me the morning off.
Nicely restored property, well designed room
Room 8005 is directly below the breakfast room. The noise woke me up at 7am and continued throughout breakfast
Location, clean room and nice breakfast
The bed was comfortable
We were originally put on a 3rd floor room but once I confirmed we had a dog and we were charged 39$ for the dog our room was changed to the basement into an accessible room - which was awful - it had basement windows looking onto tires of cars in the parking lot plus a really long hall in a right angle to the bed ….. and the room was cold - for 230 $ plus 39 for the dog really not acceptable
The location and the breakfast were the only good things about this hotel.
The bugs in the room, the dirty sheets, and having to sleep in a basement when I booked a corner room with a view.
Beautiful old building, really good breakfast.
Expensive
Interesting history and a place with character
Room was in the basement
Location
Breakfasts if visiting only for a day it should be early by 6am breakfast
Great location. Easy access for parking,
We’ve stayed here before and liked that it’s a unique place to stay
After checking in, we were loading up the cart with luggage etc and the guy that worked behind the desk said there’s a problem with our room. The A/C didn’t work properly. So he offered a discount, free cancellation with refund of my payment or or points. We had arrived early and asked if there were other rooms available. He said no, that they had a fulll house that night. So I asked if everyone has checked in. He said no. I asked him to give me another room as I’m early. He finally did. I was a little annoyed about this
The breakfast was excellent--very pleasant room and well-prepared food with lots of options.
We were in a handicapped equipped room--the bathroom had a button to push for the door, but you still had to turn the knob to open it--a bit awkward, even for us who are not handicapped. Also, the water flow out of the shower spilled into the bathroom a bit.
Nothing
Terrible communication. I sent multiple messages through booking.com which they never responded to. I called several times and spoke to staff members who said they would pass on my info, but I never heard back. I sent multiple requests for date changes, but the hotel would not respond to these either, although their policy states that you can change the dates. I lost my money through this unreliable hotel and would like to warn others not to book with them.
decent breakfast, the hotel itself is very interesting -- layout is a bit strange because it was a former courthouse. The room was actually a suite which was great.
location a bit remote
I was therefor business. Nice hotel and it was nice to walk around after work. Word of warning though if you get a basement room level 0 you can be located below the breakfast area. See photo below. You wont be sleeping after 6am as kitchen staff arrive to prep . After 7am all you hear is scraping of chairs above you. Avoid this area at all costs and you will find it a pleasant place to stay.
The stateliness of the decor.
The shower stall needs cleaning of mold. Far too expensive overall.
Room was great, interesting building, good breakfast
Kind of expensive
Great location with great view. Very clean room and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and the bed is super comfortable.
The hotel was very comfortable and staff was great.
The neighbourhood didn’t always feel safe
Boutique atmosphere.
Minimal staff. Breakfast was pretty low quality for the price of the stay.
The view and the beautiful building.
It was a unique property, very comfortable and good location
Beautiful heritage building, helpful friendly staff, good breakfast, parking included.
Couple of transients were hanging around on the stairs outside. Somebody was smoking outside our basement room window and the smoke came into our room. The AC was not working but the staff arranged for a fan very quickly so kudos to them. A couple more extension cords in the room to make up for fewer plug points would have been helpful.
Reservation Details When booking this stay, I specifically requested a fully accessible room equipped with a barrier-free (roll-in) shower, as I require these accommodations due to my use of a wheelchair. Accessibility Deficiencies Upon Arrival Upon check-in, it became immediately apparent that the room did not meet the accessibility standards I had requested or that are required under the Ontario Building Code: Bed height: The bed was approximately 44+ inches high, far exceeding standard accessible height requirements. This made safe, independent transfer to and from my wheelchair extremely difficult and unsafe. Shower threshold: The shower did not have a true barrier-free entry. Instead, it had a steep 45-degree ramp compensating for a 4-inch threshold rise, which does not meet accessibility code or standard for a barrier-free shower. I raised both concerns with staff at check-in and was informed that nothing could be done to correct or accommodate either issue for the remainder of my stay. We decided to make the best of it. On the fifth day of my stay, while attempting to transfer onto the elevated mattress, I sustained an injury to my right wrist as a direct result of the non-compliant bed height. This injury made it impossible for me to continue using the bed safely, and I was left with no choice but to request an early checkout. When I requested to check out early due to my inability to safely use the room, I was offered reimbursement for only one night. The remaining nights of my reservation were denied under the stated justification that this was "against policy." I expressed my dissatisfaction with this outcome, and a staff member assured me that the hotel manager (Mr Vishwajeet) would call me within 24 hours to discuss the matter further. We checked out and moved to another hotel for the remainder of our stay. To date, I have received no phone call, email, or other communication from management regarding this issue. Nor did we recieve the reimbursement for the single night that was agreed upon. The core issue is not a preference or a general disappointment with the hotel it is that the room provided did not deliver the fully accessible accommodations which the property advertised and that I specifically booked, and was therefore not functionally usable by me. In mind this invalidates the hotel policy not to reimburse us for the 2 nights we could not stay.
Ein sehr schönes sauberes Hotel.
Die Auswahl des Frühstücksbuffet ist überschaubar.
We had 2 rooms, one a king lake view and one a 2 queen lake view. The view was beautiful. Our rooms were spotless, and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is charming and the grounds around it well kept. Breakfast was fantastic. I have had many hotel breakfasts over the years and this was one of the best. They have a yogurt bar with all kinds of fruit and toppings, fresh made waffles, hot boiled eggs and a good selection of breads. Our HVAC worked with no issues.
The receptionist when we arrived was just about the ridest person you could ever meet. This left us with a very bad feeling.
A real value for money.
Nothing really
It was a cute refurbishment of a historic building. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Lodgings would have served us fine but the wildfire smoke was awful. It seeped through the windows and we had to leave because with asthmatics in our family, we couldn't stay because even the indoor air quality was unsafe. There was no attempt to make us whole and the hotel charged us for the entire stay even though we had to depart early because their facility was not safe for us to stay at.
Size, clean, breakfast, staff, parking secure
Fan preset to run all night
Fresh fruit would be nice
Room was very nice and greatly spacious with large queen beds and comfortable. Also, bathroom was very nice. So, room was the only thing nice I had during this stay. That's why I'm rating this hotel like 5 out of 10, considering other unpleasant things that I'll explain next.
I booked this reservation on rush as we had a situation and my travel plan changed at the last moment. I couldn't have enough time for my search. When I quickly searched this hotel, the photo displayed it as an old building, but I didn't find photos about hallways and stairs. I found photos for rooms which were very nice so I booked it. When I reached hotel, I really shocked with what I saw! I forgot hotel name was Courthouse, it was really a courthouse converted to a hotel. They invested very well in renovating rooms but they kept hallways, stairs and everything else as is - probably from point of keeping building as is. Maybe they have a point, but for me the place as a courthouse was not comfortable to stay in and walk through it. It's very old, also it reminded me with tons of crimes, cases, judges, lawyers, criminals were in this building. Not feeling good with all these senses. Also, to enter this building you need to walk on stairs. How to get luggage in?? Front desk told me take the trolly via elevator to basement then walk through ramp to outside, get luggage and take the same bath back. It was ok for now. However, when I checked in it was around 9PM and no body in this building except one old lady at small front desk. Ramp had no light at all. I was alone, working alone on very narrow long ramp in dark to get out then to get in with my luggage (repeated twice as we had lots of luggage for long trip). I reported to front desk that no light on ramp, she said Oh really! Ok to tomorrow they can see what to do with light! My expectation was to have it fixed immediately or at least she go, check and try to turn it on or check the button/fuse etc. Another visitor could come after me in night and had same bad experience. I'm really hesitant would I book this hotel again? room was really nice, I liked it, but the whole building is a BIG NO!
We were awakened at 12:30 am by the sound of running water leaking out of the light fixture in the shower. Then about 20 minutes later a second leak started coming down through the smoke detector above our bed. After much discussion with the front desk staff they relocated us to a different room. However the air conditioning was not working in that room so it was extremely hot and our grandson had to sleep on a couch. We were supposed to stay three nights but there was no way we were staying there the balance of our trip. We checked out and said we needed a full refund including the one night we stayed. The person working the front desk agreed however we were charged for the one night. It’s been almost a month since we’ve been home and we’re still waiting for the manager to call us back. Every time we call they tell us “he’ll call you back tomorrow “. Terrible customer service!!!
Unique
Large stain on the in-room couch.
I would not recommend this property at all. I cannot express that enough. I am a choice rewards platinum member and to thank me for all the years of my business this hotel decided to sell my room to someone else even after I told them twice that I was going to stay 1 more day. In addition when I called choice rewards to complain the front desk lied to them about the circumstances surrounding my notification that I was going to stay. And to top it all off they did not offer any sort compensation for my inconvenience. This property is really a poor excuse for a hotel
Big and comfortable room with nice beds.
Broken curtain in the shower stall
Despite a ban on smoking on the premises, the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke - perhaps due to the age of the building, but it detracted from what was otherwise a great stay.
Property was charming. Checkin was easy. Staff was pleasant. Ample parking even though people from the neighbouring hospital clearly use it.
We got stuck in the elevator, missed dinner. Staff was apologetic but didn't really offer any form of compensation. We were given an accessibility room and it was missing most of the charm of the rest of the property.
This is a historical building.
This is historical building. Plumbing is modernized but the A/C system is not working well.
It is an old and beautiful hotel. Room size is good. Staff are good
Breakfasttttt!!!! Small saloon with very basic breakfast. Like a 2 star hotel. They Should improve their breakfast, otherwise they should take a maximum 3 star rate.
Like the uniqueness of the property
Has gone downhill since previous stays. Room was missing many items (I.e. hair dryer, waste baskets, etc.) the fellow at the front desk was pleasant but did not understand or speak English well enough to understand us.
Loved the style of the building, the high ceilings and the view over the immaculate lawns. Easy access to restaurants . We loved that the main doors opened automatically and the room was large enough for me to roll out my yoga mat to do my stretches.
We thought the pet fees were ridiculously high.
I like the architecture of the building and room. Yard view was amazing and refreshing with beautiful grass, Room and bathroom spacious.
● Kinda feel like beds were a lil smaller than queen size 🤔 but my family and I managed. ● I wish we had a microwave to warm lunch.
Came in at the end of breakfast and it had been picked over but I expect it would be better earlier in the morning. There was plenty of choice.
More plain yoghurt!
Wonderful and unique hotel. It was actually a courthouse that was converted to a hotel and it is amazing. Breakfast was great and had great options. The room was very big, bed was great, pillows, size, absolutely fantastic! And the most important part, I front desk lady, who I can’t remember her name, she was absolutely wonderful and helpful. She was amazing! To the hotel management, please share with her how great she is. I checked in on June 13th 2026 around 6:20pm - and she did everything to make it very smooth for me and my family. Thanks 🙏
The view we had, the history of the building, comfortable beds and quiet
Parking not available as there was a wedding there. Only one elevator that was very busy.
Rooms need to be clean. I found dead insects in the bathroom.
The building itself is really fascinating. The converted courthouse makes an excellent backdrop for the hotel. Breakfast was very good; enough variety for most people.
There wasn't an ice machine on our level; certainly not a showstopper but it would have been nice. Also, a little booklet or something with a list of restaurants and services nearby would have been helpful.
Location
Love the location with views of the water.
Nothing, it is exactly what we want in a hotel, charm, great views, comfortable beds, delicious complimentary breakfast.
place is good but over priced
Located
Shower curtains were dirty
Breakfast was good
Basement room, no light. Bathroom door was too heavy to open Bed not comfortable
Great staff that were very helpful
Nothing
It's a lovely building
Excelente hotel, hermosa y amplia habitación. Mi perro y yo pasamos una estadía hermosa. El desayuno muy rico y variado.
How comfortable it was, and it had the nicest bedroom I’ve ever stayed in.
Very spacious room, modernized bathroom
We were in a lower level room. Lots of noise from above.
The breakfast was good. Our table was a bit dirty but no big deal. I will stay there again.
Waiting for my room when I was checking in around 3. But, really it was fine in the end.
Unique design, clean and uncluttered layout, modern rooms. Easy checking, free parking included.

Very cool
Nice
nice
Very central and good parking
Bedroom was under kitchen and was wakened by people walking around
Worst wifi I have experienced at a hotel in the modern era… drops non stop, not good for business travel, it’s 2026… how hard is it to have reliable internet?
The room was very well appointed - comfortable bed and nice bathroom.. The staff were helpful. The location was very convenient and there was ample free parking.
I was in a basement room -- the room itself was fine and had a nice big window, but it was below the breakfast room, and night around 1:30am things were being moved around and it woke me up. I mentioned this to the staff so they can avoid this in the future.

Absolutely love the building. Lots of charm and character throughout. Our room was on the smaller side but very cozy and clean. I believe it was one of the old judges chambers with a beautiful view of the sleeping giant.
It's literally a court house, was surprised first time staying
Nothing
Rooms are spacious and clean.
Love this place. It’s very clean
Beautiful hotel ❤️❤️
Very nice. Well kept, Well situated in town.
The room we got was right under the breakfast area so the staff were dragging tables and chairs making it extremely irritating for trying to get back to sleep past 5 am. It was not disclosed to us before hand so beware.
So due to unforeseen circumstances we could not go out of town the weekend of Jan 23, 2026. We instead planned a staycation at the Courthouse hotel. On arrival we were thrilled with the appearance of the hotel and the gentleman working the desk. It was the next day that was the problem. No hot water.....now I understand that the building is old and it was cold but it really put a damper on the weekend. I requested to speak to the manager that day (was not in because it was a weekend). I phone 2 other times and the manager could not even be bothered to call back. We were looking for a small compensation for the inconvenience. She has never reached out to even apologize. Bad business. I run a small business and would never not reach out especially after 3 messages were left. I don't think we will be doing our staycations at this location moving forward.
Cool Vibe , staff excellent
The quietness of the hotel.
2nd day Housekeeping. Bed was not vompletdly made, used towel still in shower stall.
Great location and fair price
Room was clean and warm
Long time for staff to come to counter to check in
Parking
Breakfast needs improving, real eggs and sausage would be nice.
The property is fantastic but I don’t recommend the basement rooms as you have to keep your window curtains closed all the time or run the risk of having people looking in your windows ! My original room was below the breakfast room so was rather noisy in the am !! They moved me to the second floor on my last night because of a function in there ballroom which was of there own doing and a nice gesture as it would be less noisy !! Overall was impressed as it was beautifully redone from its original courthouse days
Friendly staff. Accommodating when needed. Helpful. Nice smile
They didn’t clean my room the 4 days ,until the checked out. And when came back they gave me a different room, and they cleaned it that I stayed for 2 days. My floor was messy. My garbage wasn’t clean. That my only complaint. Good thing my partner wasn’t here, she would’ve turned Scorpio.
Good Location, clean, comfortable bed, breakfast included Friendly staff
Room thermostat was not working so room was cooler in January. However portable heater helped quite a bit.
Location
Old bldg Cold Sidewalks and outside steps were slippery
Unfortunately we had a terrible stay. We showed up after a long day of travel to find that the room had a major leak in the bathroom. They were aware of the issue but did not have another room for us to stay in. Had they given us notice we would have found another place to stay. We had to stay in the room with the leak and they had to turn off the AC as well. We tried to get in contact with management for two days and the front desk gave us the run around. The best they offered was a 20% discount. We’re really disappointed in their lack of communication and customer service.
