Nice room. Good location.
Couldn't bet the WiFi to work.
The entrance and experience upon arriving at hotel
Parking
Eine schönes Zimmer und mit sehr guten Frühstück mit einem Koch der Omelettes macht.
Man muss fürs das selber parken 25$ bezahlen.
Very nice
All the plugs in the hotel except one worked phones were dead whole visit unless we charged them and a restaurant or bar. They charged me 25 a day to park after already renting hotel room which cost me my daily deposit of 75 dollars
Hop on hop off bus tour was a must for getting a feel of the area.
It was hot and humid n Asheville. A pool would have been great.
The view. Room cleanliness.

Location, view, staff
AC was noisy
The rooms are spacious and its location
We were facing the air conditioning section. Just not a nice sight
Facility and location
Room was nice and staff was very helpful.
Nothing I can think of.
Nice and convenient
I booked this room through book.com. The hotel then charged me again for the room, and was told I wasn’t. I had to eventually dispute the charges with my bank bc they were no help and continued saying they didn’t charge me and “good luck!”
Very friendly, clean and comfortable
Nothing
Facility starting to feel run down. Elevators showing visible signs of wear and tear. Rooms are "ok". Breakfast buffet was low quality.
Rustige en veilige locatie midden in de stad.
De algemene delen van het hotel dienen dringend refurbished te worden. Restaurant is gans het weekend gesloten.
Location met our desires. Breakfast was certainly worth it.
Better, more comfortable chair in room
Great location
Everything was phenomenal
Good location to downtown
Dated room. Dirty carpet. TV w no remote!
It’s comfortable and really good location
I thinks too expensive to just have light house keeping. Just the option of valet parking
Dichtbij town. Alles loopbaar. Hele comfortabele bedden. Goed ontbijt
De airco maakte enorm veel lawaai.
Location was ideal -close to many restaurants and shops. The room provided a quiet evening to take in the sunset and mountains Staff was courteous and informative
Location was perfect to walk to all my favorite downtown spots!
Truthfully, it was great! Maybe the rooms and halls were slightly outdated but that is none of my worries.
Convenient location - nowhere is far in downtown Asheville.
No safe in the room to store valuables. Decor was tired - needs a refurbishment. Staff knowledge of location and things to do in the area was poor.
Location and cleanliness
Elevators were extremely slow
Jay in Valet was exceptional.
The bartender on Thursday night was on something.
Clean and friendly
The AC in room 710 was so loud. I didn’t sleep because of this.
Great location; comfortable rooms, everything very clean, great staff
Breakfast wasn’t anything special- could have more bakery options. AC in the room was a little bit loud
Everything except Booking .com has a very bad customer service . Hotel was great but bookin.com do not have a great service
Booking .com has a very bad customer service
The welcome and service was wonderful ! Valet, Reception, Restaurant, all friendly and top tier. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Learning at check-in that I would be charged $75 for any incidental's and that it may take a week to recover if no charges incurred. Fortunately there is a parking garage adjacent to the hotel so I did not have to suffer the expense of valet parking.
We knew this was an older property and was excited to experience charm, not a very small room, shower that doesn’t work, bathroom barn door that if closed will be opened if someone opens the main door to the room b/c there is hardware sticking out from the main door. We were on the 10th floor and did have a lovely view of downtown with mountains in the background. Check-in had a long line that took a long time b/c this hotel caters to large meeting groups. We felt as though $25/day for parking was excessive for an open and unprotected lot. We’re Platinum Elite and have never had to pay to park, but they wouldn’t comp this b/c the lot isn’t theirs. The bright spot was the breakfast buffet ($20pp but complimentary for Platinum Elite and above b/c this hotel doesn’t have a concierge lounge). The food was much better and more tasty than other MB hotel breakfast buffets. The waitstaff were kind and attentive. A lovely and upscale dining experience.
Stayed at The Renaissance hotel for a quick one night stop in Asheville. I was a little hesitant because of some of the reviews, but it was a great stay. The hotel is older, but well maintained and clean. It was close enough to downtown that I felt safe walking alone, and the hotel was still very quiet. Yes, you pay for parking. You are downtown. But, the parking lot was big with plenty of available space. Staff were amazing and friendly. Would definitely stay again if I make it back to the area.
This is a genuine luxury hotel that is getting a little long in the tooth. Staff is helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. Breakfast is excellent buffet with omelet station. Most listings say they have a pool -- but they don't. Parking lot is dark at night.
The staff was amazingly courteous, professional and helpful. We arrived around 4pm and check in was smooth and quick. No line at the registration. They gave us two free breakfast buffet vouchers. The room was great. Adequate for our needs. The location was perfect for walking to dinner and bars. I choose this hotel for the hot tub, unfortunately I found out upon check in that the pool and hot tub were under renovations and were closed. The breakfast buffet was great with made to order omelette and waffle station.
One block from the main street, easy access to all the activities yet away from all the noise. Large room, comfortable beds.
The room was nice. I had to call maintenance due to water leaking in bathroom from the floor above. The woman came and was very nice in looking at the issue and it got resolved. Other than that, the stay was great. Conference rooms were nice and food was good.
Overall positive experience though the first night we experienced a poor night’s sleep due to a deformed mattress. The next morning we reported the issue, which thankfully was remedied. Unfortunately, the pool, which is shown in a picture on the Bonvoy app and highlighted as an amenity on the intranet at the hotel, was not in operation. The room was decently appointed and otherwise comfortable. The unsecured, uncovered parking seemed a bit pricey at 25$/day. The breakfast buffet was nice- fresh fruit and other hot foods of good quality. The staff member at the bistro during breakfast was EXCELLENT! Would we stay again- yes, but there is certainly room for improvement at this location.
I always love staying at this hotel ! Nice and clean . Food is good .Close to downtown Asheville. Very friendly staff . They let us check in early.
We saw a show at the Thomas Wolf venue and was walking distance to the hotel. The accommodations were very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Everything was perfect. The cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, the location, the delicious food at the Writer's Bistro. We felt safe and comfortable. The rooms were very nice and the beds were comfy. The patio was so relaxing. This is a beautiful, spacious, well decorated hotel and we enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend this hotel. 5 out of 5 stars.
Nothing, everything was great
Great hotel, especially as compared to others in the area. Everybody was very nice and helpful, highly recommended.
The view from the 10th floor was great. The breakfast and service in the morning was outstanding!
The mattress was awful, we could not sleep.
The location was great, room was nice, very nice lobby area, bar and restaurant.
Great hotel and excellent location. Highly recommend to stay here as you visit and walk Asheville
We had a great stay at the Renaissance Asheville. The location is excellent—close to downtown with many restaurants within walking distance. The view from our room was also beautiful, with mountains in the distance. What stood out the most was a young male staff member at the hotel restaurant. I didn’t catch his name, but he was exceptionally kind and patient with my child, who has special needs. His genuine care truly reflected the quality of the staff. The hotel itself is clean, nicely renovated, and has a lovely artistic style. We would definitely come back
This review is not based on a stay. I was about to book a room, the rate seemed reasonable for a pet friendly downtown hotel with parking. However, to say they have parking is very misleading. You have to pay $25 a day to park there. I told them I would be coming in around 8 pm and asked if I would have the parking for a full 24 hours and the answer was no. It would expire by 3 pm. The pet fee was $50 per day! That doesn't see friendly to pet owners. I'm just putting this out there because these exorbitant fees are not obvious on the booking sites. I read a review that mentioned a parking fee, which is why I called, but I never imagined that they would charge their guests soooo much.
Wonderful staff and location. Great parking
Very good location close to downtown shops and restaurants. The lobby and bar area are beautiful. The rooms are adequate. I'd recommend a better coffee machine option - it's a 4 star, perhaps a nespresso machine. And they could upgrade the showers. The pop-up ceiling above the tub didn't reflect the caliber of hotel it is imo.
Excellent rooms. Go out the back door and you are on the edge of the historic downtown.
This hotel was a great venue for the 2026 NCADA Conference. The staff was always helpful and professional. Food at the hotel was great and the location to downtown was one of, if not the best feature of this hotel. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Rooms were spacious and clean. Checkin was efficient with helpful staff. Location in Asheville makes walking to downtown restaurants and shops easy.
Stayed here March 2026 for a multi-night visit. I am a Lifetime Titanium Elite member with Marriott Bonvoy, with over 1,300 nights at Marriott properties worldwide and well over $500,000 spent with the brand over the years. Frequent travelers like me remain loyal to Marriott because the program promises consistent recognition and benefits across properties. Unfortunately, the Renaissance Asheville Downtown appears to treat those benefits as optional suggestions rather than program commitments. Elite Recognition: Apparently Not Here -------------------------------------------------------------- One of the core benefits for Titanium Elite members is enhanced room upgrades based on availability, which can include better views, higher floors, or larger rooms. At check-in I politely asked if an upgrade was available. The front desk associate confirmed that the hotel was not very full that evening, yet the answer was an immediate and definitive: “No upgrades available.” The room we were given had a lovely view of the HVAC system. Later, when I spoke with the hotel manager, she explained that there actually was a larger upgraded room available, but it was only available for the first night of our stay because a large group would be arriving the following day. That explanation would have been perfectly reasonable if the discussion were only about larger rooms. Of course a hotel shouldn’t move guests into a room that cannot accommodate the full stay. But Marriott’s upgrade benefit isn’t limited to larger rooms. An upgrade can also include: • A room with a better view (for example, mountain views instead of mechanical equipment) • A higher floor • A more desirable location in the building All of these options would have recognized the benefit without creating operational issues for the hotel. Instead, the default response appeared to simply be “no.” Late Checkout: A Benefit That Required a Phone Call to Corporate --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another core Titanium Elite benefit is guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout at most Marriott properties, except resorts and convention hotels. This property is neither. On our final morning I asked for a modest 1 p.m. checkout. The response: “No late checkouts available.” When I reminded the front desk that Titanium Elite members are entitled to 4 p.m. checkout, I was told: “We can’t do that. We have a large group arriving.” Even after explaining that I only needed 1 p.m., not 4 p.m., the best they would offer was noon. At that point I called the Marriott Bonvoy Elite line, where the representative immediately confirmed that the hotel is required to provide the benefit. Only after corporate contacted the hotel did the property suddenly agree to the 1 p.m. checkout I originally requested. It’s difficult to understand why a Lifetime Titanium Elite guest should have to escalate to Marriott corporate just to receive benefits clearly defined in the loyalty program. The Missing Club Lounge --------------------------------------- Most Renaissance properties around the world offer a club lounge, which Titanium members typically have access to when it exists. When I asked where the lounge was located, I was told: “We closed it during COVID.” When I asked if it had reopened, the answer was essentially: “No, it’s just still closed.” COVID ended years ago. Many hotels temporarily closed lounges during the pandemic. Most reopened them. This one simply never did. A Renaissance in Name Only --------------------------------------------- Beyond the loyalty issues, the hotel itself feels very tired. The rooms look nothing like what travelers typically expect from the Renaissance brand: • Outdated finishes • No in-room safe (problematic for business travelers carrying equipment) • An open rack of hangers instead of a real closet, something you’d expect from a budget property rather than a premium Marriott brand It’s difficult to reconcile the Renaissance branding with the product actually being delivered. Bottom Line ------------------- If you’re visiting Asheville and value Marriott Bonvoy elite benefits, I would strongly recommend choosing a different Marriott property in town. There appear to be newer Marriott hotels in Asheville, and it’s hard to imagine they could provide a worse experience than this one. Loyalty programs only work if hotels honor them, and this property seems determined not to. This hotel may carry the Renaissance name, but in terms of both the hotel itself and how it treats loyal guests, it falls well short of the standard that brand is supposed to represent. I hope Marriott leadership takes a closer look at how this property is implementing Bonvoy elite benefits, because the experience here was completely inconsistent with what loyal Marriott travelers expect.
I made the mistake of booking only a one night stay when I needed two. The staff called that morning (3/14/26) and asked why my things were still in the room and that’s when I discovered my mistake. The ladies at the front desk said that the hotel was fully booked for the night but put me on a brief hold. They then informed me that they were able to hold my room for another night. I just had to check out and immediately check back in but they worked their magic. I do not know who the individual was but the employee working the front desk on the mid-morning of March 13 needs a raise and a big hug from me. Customer service at its finest.
Front desk gentlemen is excellent and personable with information about hotel and area.
Clean, comfy, and friendly. Beautiful view from our room.
The room was clean comfortable and quiet. The water temperature and pressure in the shower was great! The hotel staff is very kind and professional. The meeting rooms were well equipped and the lobby bathrooms are convenient and clean
The hotel is right off the interstate and has ample parking. There is a per day parking fee. The room is large and comfortable. The bed is comfortable with enough pillows. Plenty of drawers and hangers for clothes. Bathroom is a little small. Plenty of outlets for anything you want to charge. Nice size TV for the room size. The hotel could use some love and attention as it is showing its age. The lobby is nice with lots of seating areas and a bar. Overall the hotel was clean as was the room. It was fairly busy during our stay, but the rooms was insulated and quiet. Good value for the money and service was good as well. Would stay here again on another trip. Within 10-15 minutes of all downtown activities and restaurants.
We stayed the weekend for my birthday, and it was fantastic. The staff were top notch, and the hotel itself was nice. We made a last minute reservation after our initial accommodation proved to be the opposite of what we wanted. We were so glad to be able to get a room and wake up to a beautiful layer of snow. Overall, the weekend turned out great, and the hotel and staff saved the trip!
The staff are what makes this place! They were so accommodating during a winter storm. They opened the restaurant during non-business hours, and checked in to mae are we had everything we needed! Thank you!
Great looking hotel, decorated in a cozy and classy design. Close to everything. Restaurant was good.
We loved everything.
Everyone we encountered who worked at the property was so kind and welcoming. From the minute we arrived, the front desk gentlemen who helped us were fantastic and accommodated moving our rooms so we could be closer together. The woman at the bar was super friendly. Even our waitress and the manger at the restaurant for breakfast were very kind. Just one night but a great stay!
Great location, very clean room, easy parking and great staff. I will stay here again.
It was cold outside, but the hotel was nice and cozy. The fireplace in the lobby was a great touch. And fresh coffee throughout the day was perfect! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations.
The breakfast was amazing! The staff was great! Very clean environment and quiet! Beautiful mountain views.
I loved everything.
Liked the location in relation to restaurants. Room temperature was comfortable and very adjustable. Lobby was very nicely decorated.
Hotel maybe needs a few updates. I would prefer hard flooring in rooms vs carpeting and the lighting could be a little better. The elevators seemed very old and shaky which made me uneasy. Also, for our size of conference, only 2 of the 4 elevators were operational for guests which caused some waiting time.
Nice place to stay a great staff. Nice buffet breakfast. Some parts seem a little dated, but the room was very nice shape.
Great staff. They are very polite. You can easily tell, that’s a good work environment for them. Besides that, very close to restaurants and bars. I would definitely come back.
Jacob at the desk in Asheville was especially helpful with our check in. We at first had tried to use our points and had difficulty but he solved the problem. We loved our room. And breakfast was great!! We came to Asheville to shop for a piece of art to bring to our home in Durham as we wanted to support the local artists, especially after the destruction from Helene.
Robb at the front desk was absolutely amazing. No matter how long it has been since my last visit, he always remembers me and makes me feel truly welcomed and valued every single time. Somia at the Writer’s Bistro is the perfect way to start your day. Her kindness, energy, and outstanding service are so refreshing and instantly put you in a great mood. If you want an incredible omelet, you must have James prepare it. He makes them to absolute perfection every time. My room was spotless, and the housekeeping staff consistently greeted me with warm smiles whenever I passed by, which truly added to the comfort of my stay. Don’t just take my word for it experience it for yourself. I guarantee you’ll be saying the exact same thing about every one of the team members I mentioned.
This hotel was nice - looks like it went through a pretty recent renovation, but still some of the furniture appeared a bit dated. The hotel had a lot of parking in back, which was great and it was walkable to all the shops and restaurants. There was a bit of a wait for breakfast in the morning - I had free breakfast coupons but wouldn't say its worth the price, if you have to pay the full amount (I think it would've been like $30 PP) and it was continental breakfast basically. They had an omelet station and waffle station but the line was long and we didn't have time to wait. Overall, would definitely go back!
Everything!
Nothing!
Sandy and the staff at the hotel are fantastic! Very attentive and courteous. They made our experience amazing. I highly recommend this location.
The hotel is centrally located, however needs some work. It's a bit dated. On several occasions we had dirty napkins/utensils/dishes and had to get them replaced when in the restaurant. The elevators sound like they need some WD40 to quiet them down when the doors close and at least the "9" button on the first elevator to the left does not light up at all. I expected alot higher quality from Renaissance.
This hotel seems like it used to be much nicer. The large pool was under construction, all the taps on the bar were broken (according to the bartender), the elevators were painfully slow, and the front desk help was very nice but even slower. Some things we loved-- the comfy beds, walkability. Worst part of our stay was the weird barn style bathroom doors that would keep the front door from closing.
The hotel was perfect. It was super clean, well staffed and conveniently located. Highly recommend! I was very pleased.
Great and very spacious Helped in getting rooms together for family Staff was great Excellent Very good Food was fresh and good
We had a very nice stay. The receptionist was so helpful and friendly..Everyone was very welcoming. We will stay again!
Perfect location for this well appointed full service hotel. If you desire super comfortable beds and a large bathroom this is the hotel. The property is well maintained and the staff goes that extra mile to ensure your stay is memorable.
What a cozy and festive spot to stop over. We loved how close the hotel was to Asheville – walking distance to dinner and cocktails. The bartender was fantastic - cozy little spot to end the evening with a cocoa (not on the menu but specially made!). Enjoyed the art, the view, and the food (try the breakfast omelet bar) and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. Highly recommend!
Very nice warm and inviting atmosphere with a knowledgeable and friendly staff that made sure that our stay in Asheville was the very best possible! Any issue that we may have had was quickly resolved by the staff. Check out was fast and simple. Very clean and well maintained property. The rooms are very well appointed and we had a beautiful view of the mountains and city. The location was perfect for walking in the city with quick access to the interstate. We found the rooms very quite. It was a really nice perk to have a late check out time after a night of walking around town.
We traveled down to Asheville for the Christmas Jam , had a great stay the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They gave us suggestions for points of interest around area and some local hotspots
I recently hosted an event for our regional team in Asheville, and the entire experience was outstanding. The staff was welcoming and attentive, the room block check-in was seamless, and the team did an excellent job arranging meals and catering. We truly appreciate the support and will definitely be back.
We had such a great stay at Elevation Lofts Hotel this weekend. The room was beautifully done—comfortable, stylish, and thoughtfully put together. The décor was a real highlight; it honestly felt like staying in an art gallery, with gorgeous pieces from Momentum Gallery (one of our favorite galleries in Asheville). The location couldn’t be better. It’s right in downtown Asheville, and we were able to walk everywhere—restaurants, shops, galleries—yet it still felt very safe and quiet. The space itself was incredibly comfortable and made it easy to relax after being out and about. Overall, Elevation Lofts is a perfect mix of great design, comfort, and an unbeatable location. We’d absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Asheville.
Had a great stay. The staff were very accommodating with our dogs. Breakfast was good. While I do agree with those saying the rooms could be refreshed it was well kept and very clean.
The hotel itself was really nice, and the location was pretty solid too. The room was clean and nice, and I particularly enjoyed the shower. The welcome gift of a free breakfast was a thoughtful touch, and I also appreciated the free coffee and water available in the lobby. My only complaint was that the lobby was quite cold during our stay.
Outstanding staff assistance. Though a notably older property, room and property were nice, comfortable. Parking and proximity to downtown were great.
Conveniently located, can walk to shops and restaurants, clean, helpful staff. My one hesitation is that I'm particularly sensitive to noise, and there was some street noise plus noise from within the building. I had to sleep with my airpods in my ears (that worked). Also the hairdryer in my room didn't work, but I phoned the desk and they delivered a new one within five minute. Overall, it was a pleasant place to stay for a pleasant visit to Asheville.
The hotel staff is amazing!!! The property is beautiful. This is my hotel of choice when I visit Asheville. The location is great and the rooms are modern and up-to-date. From the front desk, to the restaurant chefs and servers, to maintenance, these folks make you feel like family. What a special place to stay for a weekend getaway. Big thanks to this Marriott Renaissance for creating such a wonderful experience, every time.
Good location. Overall hotel needs to be refreshed, but still nice with an old school charm. Gym was pretty good. Quiet until early morning when construction trucks were making quite a bit of noise. Pretty time of year looking up towards the mountains!
Just an outstanding experience from beginning to end. From our valet, to the front desk associate to the maintenance man we passed in the hall to the restaurant staff. Top top level friendliness and service! (I’m a Marriott Platinum). Best I’ve experienced. Outstanding property and maintenance, though oddly the toilet was extremely low to the floor. We’ll definitely be back! Keep doing whatever you’re doing there!
We have been staying here since our daughter went to UNCA. So convenient to downtown, helpful staff and comfortable rooms/bed. However, on a recent visit, I would have the following criticisms. First, they should stop advertising a pool-out of action for months. Parking-i completely understand why they charge for parking because their big lot is directly across from Packs Square, which hosts a number of big events that really strained the lot. However, I was irritated that hotel guests paid the same 24 hour rate as the public. A slight reduction, $5 to 10, would be nice. Finally, there do not seem to be dedicated freight elevators. In the morning, when many are checking out, the laundry service carts occupy a lot of the elevators. I waited 15 minutes to get an elevator. Like the hotel but these nuisances made the experience less enjoyable than prior visits. Also, rates are considerably higher but that is understandable as they recover from the hurricane.
