Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The room was excellent, as was the food. We have been before and will definitely go again.
The property was well maintained and comfortable. The decor was stylish but not over the top. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room and bathroom was huge. Large windows in the bedroom could be opened for fresh air overnight.
We didn't sleep as guests were noisy and nothing was done about this. The phone wasn't answered and so we couldn't book dinner.
We ate in the hotel on two nights and whilst the menu was the same each night the food was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel. Nice bar area to sit and have a drink, plus plenty of seating outside. Ample free parking, the hotel is in a great location to enable you to walk locally.
We travelled from Sussex to visit the area over the weekend. The Hotel was comfortable and spacious offering a superb choice of food at dinner. Our room was very large with a wonderful ensuite. Wholly recommended
We visited the Dower House last night for Dinner. Our experience, from arrival to leaving was exceptional. The meal was well prepared, and presented to a very high standard. All staff were polite and friendly, and made our visit really special.
"Ordered a double Hendrick's poured from the bottle, but it tasted like pure tonic. Another customer next to me had the exact same issue. Be careful ordering spirits here."
Everything the room the food the staff and the service was exceptional
Coming home
Good location and grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful. Informal
USB in room would have been useful. Another lounge.
The location and the friendly staff. Breakfast was a little disappointing as my poached eggs arrived after my guests and were 'underdone, so much so I asked for them to be re done. Arrived but this time they were hard boiled! Waiting staff was very apologetic
No full length mirror in the bedroom
We enjoyed our stay at Dower house. Our room was in the Lodge and it was large, clean and well appointed with an en-suite bathroom. The location was quiet and only a short walk from the main area of Woodhall Spa. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent and the service was quick and efficient. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, we were particularly impressed with the two young men who were looking after the bar and restaurant service, they worked very hard and everything ran very smoothly. We would have no hesitation in recommending Dower House and would certainly stay there again.
Peace and Quiet, great night's sleep, well cooked and presented breakfast. The staff are amazing, friendly, and attentive to every need. Great value for money ❤️
Nothing everything lovely as usual.
Absolutely delicious served by very friendly staff

The room was very spacious and luxurious. Immaculately clean.Tea making and coffee machine. Toiletries, robe and slippers. Given how quiet it was I was surprised how many people I saw at breakfast. Breakfast was lovely. Staff serving were attentive but not over powering. More expensive than I would usually pay but worth it. As I only stayed one night I didn't get to explore the grounds. Easy walking into the town.
Spent three days at Dower House and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This venue offers tranquillity, charm and extremely good service. Staff are exceptionally on the ball, very pleasant, attentive and contribute positively to a quality guest experience. Sitting in the lovely gardens is very relaxing and the hotel, whilst very quiet, is close to Woodhall Spa`s attractive and quaint main shopping street. Breakfast and Dinner at Dower House was enjoyable with quality ingredients and well prepared meals - good number of Gluten Free options also available. All in all, a lovely stay and we wouldn`t hesitate to return.
Quiet and nice big and deep bath.
Tile grout was mouldy in the bathroom. Beverages limited to just tea and coffee. Tired furniture, carpet not the best. Shower bracket broken. No safe and no fridge. For a suite it wasn’t worth the £234 per night. Very old and small TVs in bedroom and living room.
We loved the decor, friendliness of reception staff, bar staff, nothing was too much trouble
Some of the outside seating chairs had broken seats which were not safe but still out. Was not great considering high standard everywhere else
food excellent
Charming traditional house, characterful and tranquil.
Dining room closes quite early on some days
Lovely room, helpful and friendly staff, good breakfast selection and lovely location
The water took a long time to get hot and wasn’t hot in the afternoon

very welcoming nice staff made us feel at home, good choice of breakfasts and very nice service. will stay again if in the area ,all in a five star weekend...

Beautiful location, convenient for all parts of the town. Attentive bar staff.

Location and surroundings. Breakfast was very good
Room was quite warm and had no air conditioning and there was slight smell of it previously being a room that smoking was allowed in on initially entering the room
Easy access, big car park, reception and bar staff very friendly and efficient, breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and all served hot and with a smile. All in all a lovely weekend stay. Highly recommend
Central to Woodhall spa
No air conditioning far to hot and it needs a complete overhaul the windows and decor is very faded.
The Breakfast was lovely & the staff excellent!
The rooms and facilities. The breakfast choice and service. The outdoor seating areas.
The fact that the bar menu wasn’t available after 5.30 and if you wanted to eat there in the evening it had to be a 3 course meal. No sun shades on the outdoor areas
Das Hotel bietet sich hauptsächlich für Golfer an, die beabsichtigen im Woodhall Spa Golf Club zu spielen. Das Hotel liegt in gleich nebenan.
Room was very spacious and comfy
Food was not great too too salty
Staff were very attentive from the evening meal to the Bar making us Cocktails & Breakfast, room was very big and the bed was very large, gorgeous hotel will definitely return again & recommended to our freinds xx
The staff were all really helpful and friendly, lovely spacious clean room, walking distance from town centre
Nothing!
Lovely hotel in a really good location close to the town with friendly staff who made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

Breakfast was excellent, items cooked exactly as requested,The Staff were extremely helpful and polite, Hotel was First Class
Friendly staff, quiet bedroom and good location with parking
The hotel was in a great location overlooking the golf course and the feel of the place was very charming and quaint. The staff were super friendly and the rooms bright and spacious.
The breakfast buffet was very limited.
Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings - unfortunately, the Lodge is now looking somewhat tired - hot tap on hand basin would not turn off - it appears to have been forced to turn off as it was almost impossible to turn on and when on, it would not stop running! Fortunately, the problem was addressed the following morning and remedied - The standard shower head fitment was worn, such as, when turned on, it shot out of its holder and soaked the floor - the wooden slats on the bath panel had seen better days, with them showing water damage at the bottom - although only aesthetics, it did tend to reflect a general tiredness. The staff were delightful, although it appeared there were to few of them to adequately run the place - definitely as far as the bars were concerned. That all said, it is likely we may return sometime in the future.
Everything
Room, staff, hotel grounds.
A lovely hotel is a fantastic setting. The surrounding area and town was lovely and well worth a visit.

Staff are wonderfull and so friendly
Spotlessly clean and cozy
We loved everything, perfect, quiet location. It is spotlessly clean.Amazing, friendly, and helpful staff can't do enough for you. The room was perfect, and we both said fantastic nights, sleep, and a huge bed. The grounds are beautiful. Breakfast was quality and great variety. We will definitely be returning soon and recommend to everyone we know. ❤️
There is absolutely nothing we didn't love about the dower house hotel
A beautiful spacious hotel, in a stunning woodland location, with warm and friendly staff. Excellent food at both dinner and breakfast.
It’s in a lovely location
Music being played in the bar at 00-40 in the morning
Friendly staff, clean

Perfect location, lovely bedroom, beautiful gardens and very friendly staff
Room was spacious but I think the bed may have seen better days. Very quiet but we did stay midweek.
Room needs an update, but bathroom very good. Mirror on the desk / dressing table would have been useful (lots of mirrors in the bathroom and one in the bedroom but on the desk required for make up etc)
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. The grounds/terrace are peaceful and a nice place to have an evening drink.
The room was very hot and no A/C - we had to leave the windows open all night on the ground floor (worth noting it was the hottest day in May ever, so we were probably unlucky). WI-FI/Broadband was weak and unstable.
Beautiful setting, gorgeous room and bathroom. Lovely staff. Very quiet, comfortable and relaxing. Recommendations: The reception is not worthy of the grandeur of the building. Difficult to navigate and inadequate. Wonderful receptionist though. She is too good to hide! The breakfast room is lacking in ambiance compared to the rest of the hotel.
As above
My partner and I booked the luxury treats package for our last get away before baby arrives and this experience did not disappoint. Despite there being a wedding on, all of the staff made sure our stay was extra special. The food was incredible, afternoon tea, dinner, and breakfast all absolutely amazing, special shout out to the chef for the homemade sausage rolls! The room was lovely, very airy with several windows overlooking the grounds. Overall lovely stay, would 100% recommend. Also very central to walk into woodhall spa which was really close by, good for me not being able to walk far 9 months pregnant in 30 degree heat!
The close location to centre. Lovely staff and room well appointed. Sparkly clean. Well worth a stay and for family occasions, perfect.
Breakfast in a smaller room that was hard to find, maybe a sign or two? Continental selection very depleted and underwhelming. Have to say though that my poached egg and smoked salmon was delicious and beautifully presented.
Lovely staff, beautiful hotel in a really nice location
Nothing
Lovely Hotel, welcoming staff. Large clean Room in the annex. Bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. Breakfast was good, I can't comment on the evening meals as we didn't eat there. Short walk into Woodhall Spa.

Sadly my choice of red snapper for lunch was a huge mistake! It came with skin like leather and was utterly inedible! It’s was so bad a sharp steak knife could not cut it. They did agree and offered me another dish! It came within 10/15 minutes meantime my wife had to eat her meal while I watched and then she had to watch me eat the 2nd offering! Clearly they are not empathetic to causing this wholly unacceptable situation and presented me with a full price invoice! No concessions! When pressed they offered discount of a mere £6 on an £80 plus bill! I was too sick to argue! It’s a restaurant to be avoided! My wife was ill after our first visit and now they are presenting very old fish as fresh! They can’t be trusted with food!
Everything, especially dinner and breakfast!
n/a loved it all
Clean , tidy , great staff
No electric car chargers
Excellent location, for touring the area
Comfortable room , breakfast was brilliant with a great choice of food. Evening meal was very high standard. The Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us a great place.
Quiet, clean and comfortable
The setting is lovely surrounded by trees, ample parking, lovely food but menu choices were quite restricted, staff were very friendly.
The music from the bar was still playing at 00-40 one evening and the speaker was on the ceiling directly under our room, I did go down and the night porter apologised and turned it off immediately.
Great location, very quiet the rooms are a really good size with everything you need
The peaceful beautiful rural location. Walking distance into Woodhall Spa.
Nothing
Lovely hotel, perfect location, staff were friendly, food was amazing and the room was comfortable. Couldn't ask for any better. We will definitely book again
Very friendly staff. Beautiful room. Excellent food.
The shower in room 19 The Lodge was not brilliant. Needs attention and the water wasn't very warm.
A beautiful location, very peaceful and quiet.
What’s there not to like. I cannot think of anything.
Very enjoyable experience with excellent service, lovely room, beautiful area
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with lunch this afternoon. Absolutely delicious food and polite staff . We have eaten here a few times and never disappointed. Even just popping in for a drink after a walk in the many footpath’s near by .
The Breakfast was very good, well cooked with a good choice.
Breakfast was served until 9.30 am daily. We thought this was too early especially at weekends and should perhaps be served until at least 10 am.
The location and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms are warm, spacious and very clean. The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was very good. Didn't have evening meal on this occasion.
Nothing to dislike
Great choice of nice breakfasts. Bar staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Being put in the annex rather than the main hotel even though it was very quiet and far from full.
Beautiful surroundings, lovely rooms, amazing food.
Lovely setting for this delightful hotel. All the staff were friendly and consientius. Gorgeous room with well equipped bathroom. Have stayed here previously and would definitely stay again when we are in the area.
We could not fault this beautiful hotel from location to the staff. The attention to detail is impressive. The staff were attentive, professional, always took the time to ask about your day (thank you Ethan) The room was spotless. The food was impressive especially the lamb. The Cheesecake hubby had two 😁. Highly recommended a gem in Woodhall Spa.
Nothing.
Great room, staff friendly, food very nice
Whoever was in the room next door to us had no respect for the fact that there were other people staying in the same hotel. Very noisy. Common trash!!
Staff amazing, attentive patient and professional. Sadly the Easter Sunday lunch was largely a disappointment. The asparagus starter was very good according to my husband. The french onion soup ( had by two of us) was not. Purely onions,, little liquid with a large piece of untoasted sliced bread ( with a bit of cheese on top . First and hopefully the last time I ever need to eat soup with a knife and fork. One of our party had roast lamb for main which was so gristly we sent it back, only to have it replaced by an equally bad cut. The vegetables were soggy and very overcooked . Having had good meals at the Dower House before we had been looking forward to the meal especially as we travelled from Manchester!
The location and the staff are excellent. There is a very homely feeling to this hotel which makes you feel very welcome.
We stayed in the Bracken suite. The size of the suite is exceptional, however a lot of updating is required. The seating area could be made much more comfortable if the tv was bigger and the layout effective. The room was clean but needs a bit more attention to detail. A lamp in the seating area for example.
Visited on 21st February in a group of seven for Sunday lunch and all agreed we had an excellent meal prob 9/10. Four decided to return on 29th March , again for Sunday lunch. What a difference and not in a good way. Everything was sort of Ok, beef a bit chewy, veg undercooked, no not al dente just hard , tiny pot of gravy for 2. Asked for and got more gravy. Main concern was the ballotine of chicken which my daughter said did not taste of chicken seemed to be shredded mixture of meat and fat was presented as a formed breast not a stuffed roll as is the classic recipe, I know she should have complained but as like so many people was reluctant to do that. I would imagine this was a “ bough in item” from a wholesaler as I cannot believe any chef would prepare chicken in such a way. The whole meal experience was so different not least the price which had increased by some 15%. Have they had a new chef who needs to increase margin? Who knows? I think we may have been served the force meat without the chicken!. Such a shame as we live in the village and regularly dine out with visitors but like most people will now be voting with our feet!
This was our first stay at Dower hotel .Staff were very pleasant in all parts of the hotel, housekeeping staff did a wonderful job our room was very clean , breakfast was nice , we did not have evening meal as we did not fancy anything on the menu. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
Need more choices for evening meal
Great location, and lovely service
Spent two nights at Dower House for a family wedding. Lovely polite staff. Lovely building and grounds. Arrangements for the wedding party ran perfectly. Food was excellent for the wedding dinner and both breakfasts were lovely. Very nice room (room 3) with the only niggle being the paintwork around the bathroom windows looking very tatty…
Breakfast was superb. Very comfortable beds. Friendly staff
Excellent spacious room and bathroom ,ample tea, coffee& biscuits & toiletries, very quiet , excellent location close to kinema shops pubs, very nice selection of food at breakfast very clean and inviting, ample parking would definitely stay again . No complaints
Lovely hotel and needs only minor tweaks! Beautiful location and gardens. Excellent breakfast and very attentive discreet young staff. Our room, number 3 in the main building, was excellent and very clean. Great shower. Minor niggles were the rather off hand female receptionist on our departure morning. ( not the same as who checked us in). I’ve never understood why it’s so difficult to say ‘good morning’ or ‘safe journey’ etc. or simply smile. I’d definitely return as it’s a familiar family area and great stop off hotel. Woodhall is quaint, pretty with plenty of coffee shops and eateries. The Indian is especially good ( India village)
Beautiful rooms in a gorgeous location. We will be back.
Everything, the staff were excellent. Great room very spacious, would definitely go back
Staff were friendly and professional .
There wasnt anything we didnt like !
We were all very impressed with every aspect of this lovely hotel. The grounds are very pretty. My room was spotless and large with lovely bath products. The food, both evening meal and breakfast, were delicious. The chef even made me a bespoke pasta dish as I do not like gnocchi and it was very tasty. Most of all though, all the staff were so lovely, very kind and friendly. Thank you all very much x
