Lots of history
Cost of continental breakfast.
Wonderful atmospheric hotel, steeped in history and atmosphere. Room was excellent, as was breakfast and dinner. Grounds well worth the exploration.
2 Things. The water pressure was low in our room in the main building. The shower was nice and warm but the pressure was lacking... And on the Sunday we arrived there were three dirty drinks glasses on the window sill of the picture window on the main staircase .... Thise three glasses were still there on the Tuesday that we left...
Loved the location the property has kept its old world feel and with its lovely grounds and all the history
I loved that the links to WW2 which were excellently commemorated. A very special place.
Breakfast was very good , the location of this hotel was very convenient for everything we wanted to do .
Unavoidable creaky floorboards, but it's a very old hotel and was part of the character of the building
It is like walking in the pages of history
I have been before, it never disappoints
Dinner and breakfast were excellent, my Son was playing a golf tournament at Woodall Spa just around the corner no more than 5 mins drive so perfect location.
Slightly cramped room and hot as high on the building, no air conditioning of course so had the window open.
Rien.
Lovely location, excellent history lesson
Shower was a little cold
Attended for a wedding I can respect the old grounds.
Extremely dated rooms. Dirty furniture.
Everything, as usual. Been going for 50 years. My husband adores the Officers Bar. All the memorabilia. Loves meeting all the sons and daughters of War Veterans and hearing their tales. Everything is Old England. It evokes memories of flower filled gardens and afternoon tea. Perfection.
Seeing the big breakfast tubs pouring out steam from the Bain Marie's in the WWII officers bar. The windows were steaming up as were some photos and cuttings and precious things being damaged. Soon they will mould and fox with the damp. In our opinion these should be taken out immediately and swapped for the cold breakfast or better still nothing at all. It's all too precious.
The staff. Hotel and room were excellent and exactly what we wanted for my wife’s 80 th birthday see you again 7 th Nov.
The paella needed more fish content. Mines better.
We had a wonderful stay and found all the staff very friendly. We had a great meal in the bar and ladies on the bar were great with information about the hotels history. We came to stay because of the history of Perwood. The hotel was charming and better than we expected.
Everything was great. Just would have liked to stay longer.
a free upgrade to a suite
The property is a beautiful building that feels very welcoming and is full of history
Nothing
The staff were very pleasant and the location was good. A very quiet location
I was in a standard room which was minuscule and very hot. The bed linen was tired (white linen that was a bit grey) and the pillows were like bricks. Chairs in the room were a bit grubby and the carpet was coming loose and wrinkling. There was a power cut when I was getting ready for bed which lasted about 10 minutes. All in all not a great experience. Petworth hotel bombarded me with emails before my stay suggesting that I upgrade - now I know why! I moved for my next night to the Dower House Hotel which was spectacular and the same price.
Friendly staff good size rooms quiet and wonderful memorabilia
The position, setting and the friendly atmosphere.
Nothing.
Met with friends and had a lovely meal in the restaurant, restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful, saw a deer while we were there. Love all the historical pictures.
All good.
The room was large Clean and tidy.Had a iiron and board which was very helpful. It also served dinner late which was grand,as we arr late.
Everything was just grand.
History
The lovely welcome, great room and facilities. Petwood is a beautiful, historic hotel.
I could not find fault with anything.
Location
Extremely disappointing experience for a hotel that claims to offer high standards. During a single night stay, I faced a non-stop series of issues: a severely loud, vibrating shower that flooded the bathroom floor (with only one towel provided in the room and no help to mop up), a faulty hairdryer that kept cutting out, slamming fire doors, noise from coughing guests, and an early morning fire alarm followed by an hour of animal noise outside. On top of this, staff had zero knowledge to assist with EV charging. While duty staff acknowledged the room faults upon checkout, management has completely ignored multiple follow-ups, emails, and direct messages. The complete lack of customer care and refusal to respond makes a terrible situation even worse. Avoid until management learns to address guest issues.
Room, staff, breakfast, evening meal. Location.
Time of breakfast.
The room was just a standard room, didn’t want to upgrade as we were only stopping two nights. Breakfast was delicious.
this is a very special place. The grounds, the lounges and bar and the history give this hotel a very special feeling. Staff excellent as usual.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We were not able to have a drink in the Commemerative Bar after dinner because a large group of families with lots of small children had taken it over which was disappointing.
Absolutely beautiful building surrounded by an elegant garden. Classic old wood panelling and country house charm. Lots of military decor tying into the estate’s historic past.
The hotel is dripping with history. It's comfortable, clean, and the staff are friendly.
The vegetarian meal I had in the restaurant was disappointing, as it was a bit bland, and the gnocchi was much too hard. My fellow guests enjoyed their meals, however.
Great location. Lovely grounds.
Firmer matress. Personal preference.
Location and condition were perfect and the staff were also very attentive and polite.
I hate full breakfast left on heaters for you to plate your own meal. I understand why it is done but the food dries and is often cool by the time you get back to your table. Our evening meal which we had on both nights was hot and first class value for money.
Great hotel friendly staff all round a very pleasant stay
Earlier breakfast at the weekend
Fomm the outside the hotel looks beautiful and grand. The gardens were stunning. The afternoon tea was lovely and the staff really helpful.
The bedrooms were really basic and could do with a refurb. Rooms were really hot and outside our window was either some kind boiler or massive vent which made a noise all the time. Second room we booked the shower was cold and dial on shower came off every time you turned it,
We like the history and atmosphere. There is a book about the petwood hotel which gives its history. It has a lovely Squadron Bar dedicated to the Air Squadron. The rooms have an old grandeur to them and the grounds are wonderful to stroll around - especially the azalea/rhodadendrum walk.
Perhaps consider no mobile phones in the diningroom. It is a very special dining experience which deserves to be a mobile phone free friendly area.
Historical old building
Some furnishings were a little tired
Room was clean and comfortable. Excellent terrace overlooking the gardens. Better choice on the terrace bar menu than in the dining room which was a little disappointing.
Better service by the waiting staff clearing tables
Excellent staff, excellent breakfast. Such an iconic place, wonderful.
Excellent breakfast
Pillows were a bit lumpy ….
Excellent hotel that I have used numerous times The history of the 617 squadron Fabulous grounds
High end hotel with out high end prices
Presentation, history & location
Nothing
Beautiful grounds, historical building.
Rooms outlook wasnt good (looked out over roofs) also must have been bar or restaurant back door as clancking of bottles was loud.
Setting, history, beautiful buildings and grounds, relaxing
Everything was good
The staff and the atmosphere of the building
Impresionante jardín. Cuentan con una mesa de billar enorme. Bonita terraza en el bar.
La habitación estaba un poco desfasada
Good location as was on a golf break. Room was quiet and breakfast was excellent. Staff very pleasant.
There was no hot water in Room 104 from evening of 21st Aug. We checked out on 22nd and told Reception. A shame this occurrred.
A lovely historic building in beautiful grounds .
The rooms are dated , very 80’s style . Carpets could do with replacing and in our room the cleaning was not up to standard. Dirty marks on the bathroom door .
The history around WW2
Nothing
Beautiful location and setting
Standards of food and staff inconsistent
Breakfast was lovely, a good choice of food at a good price.
Didn’t like the plastic cups in the bedroom
The Petwood is one of my favourite hotels to enjoy a relaxing break. It's location, history and appearance sets it apart from other nearby hotels. Moreover the staff at all levels are friendly and helpful. Meals are of a high standard and good value. Particularly like the breakfast.
We stayed in family room 320 which was lovely. The only thing that could be problematic in a heat wave is the windows didn't open. Although there is a fan available an opening window would be better.
The historical element of the building, the grounds, and friendliness of staff. George in the bar stood out.
The carpet in room was stained, old and wasn’t hovered properly. There was crumps and stuff on floor. Room was tired in decor. Food order was served incorrectly in restaurant and quality of steak was poor for the money. It was meant to be a treat for my friends birthday and advised the hotel in advance who confirmed in writing that there would be a card in the room, however this was overlooked and nothing happened.
Beutiful surroundings, well-kept historic building. The food was incredible, you get what you pay for! Dinner was fresh and served very quickly despite it being busy. Bar staff were fantastic, but the breakfast tops everything 😋
Lovely hotel in beautiful location. We have visited many times, but this was our first residential stay. Top marks.
We liked everything.
Everything was perfect! Great Staff and great food. A lovely hotel with great gardens.
Having to leave!
Nice breakfast with friendly staff. Ample parking with EV charging available.
Grand building but rooms are looking tired and need updating. Small basic TV placed on low TV not viewable from the bed, need larger smart TV mounted on wall. Carpet old, flat pile and marked in numerous places needs replacing. Bathroom windows cannot be opened due to overpainting, extractor fan doesn’t cope with the steam. Room 308 overlooks the waste bins and service area, noisy and unpleasant.
Love the location
We all thought the food in restaurant was not as good as a year ago !!
Lovely welcoming staff Atmospheric hotel , seeped in WW2 history Clean room Comfortable bed Nice toiletries Beautiful gardens and a lovely town Tasty vegan salad for Sunday dinner
Bedroom Walls are thin . Could hear the people next door . Very creaky floorboards Woken up x3 in the night by other residents above us walking about as floorboards were so creaky No vegan option for Sunday lunch
Beautiful property with important history

The location
We arrived after a 5 hour journey there was mystic event going on (no problem) only to be told we had to have our wine in a plastic beaker because of the event- explained we were not part of the event and staying at the hotel, we asked to speak to a manager and was just told ‘blanket policy plastic beakers only’. Also we probably had the worst room in the hotel (224) it was overlooking the bins, the kitchen fan blowing hot air out and the noise of trolleys backwards and forwards.
The Hotel itself is amazing. Great history and location, superb service from all staff, great rooms
Nothing
Service at this lovely hotel was first class. Room was comfortable and the restaurant food was very good. Hotel surroundings and gardens made my first visit really enjoyable.
Excellent value. Most enjoyable stay. Visiting the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre for a Lancaster runway trip, so this hotel was the perfect spot with its unique connection to the famous Dam Busters.
Lovely interesting hotel. Amazing large room. Breakfast was delicious. Lovely huge grounds for a walk.
Nothing.
Beautiful location. Really lovely waitress in restaurant at dinner, friendly and efficient. Lovely terrace area. Bedroom and bathroom clean, comfy bed.
Some staff needed reminders to bring food and drink that were ordered in Terrace bar. Cooked breakfast had been left in warming pans too long so items were dry. Some reception staff really friendly, others a little officious.
My wife and myself had three nights at Petwood to celebrate our wedding anniversary even had a handwritten card from the team. We had a lovely room overlooking the gardens . Very comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Breakfast was in a spectacular room and the food was delicious . Very interesting building, highly recommended.
Everything, the room, the service and the food were all excellent
Beautiful peaceful location. Hotel surrounded by acres of gardens and outside seating area from bar. Traditional hotel with grand driveway entrance. Comfortable bed and good shower over bath. Piping hot water. Friendly helpful staff. Half mile approx walk into town.
Hotel tired internally. Though room was comfortable it was extremely noisy early morning outside with banging, heavy vehicle noise and voices, continuous from 6am spoiling a nights sleep. Looked like staff/ delivery area outside.
Location and size of room
Kitchen staff shouting at 6 am
The position of the hotel The gardens The room
Service in the dining room for breakfast was lax. Had to sit in the entrance to eat
Great friendly staff
Would have liked more menu choice in bar
What a lovely part of the world.A pleasant stay at the brilliant Petwood hotel Well run park and lido.Definitely re booking .
Everything
We feel so relaxed and happy at the Petwood. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, the food is excellent.

Excellent service from all staff. We love spen̈ding time at Petwood and use it as our base for our annual family get together.

Well kept grounds and a rich history…
Wish we could have stayed longer. Love the general atmosphere of the house and its connection with Bomber command and reminds me of the days during the war when my father was stationed nearby. Lovely sitting on the Terrace with a drink enjoying the gardens.
Nothing
The room, the ambience, the terrace and gardens
The food was average.
Convenient for Needs
Nothing
The room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The breakfast was excellent. The grounds are attractive and the terrace was pleasant to sit out on.
Vodafone data service was very poor and the hotel WiFi system was so episodic as to be unusable. Dinner in the restaurant was disappointing.
Great location. Lovely setting. Historic significance.
Not a lot
Lovely place, loads of RAF and Lancaster history. Really helpful, friendly staff. Amazing grounds
Room was very clean and tidy staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent would definitely recommend 👌
Nothing
The interior of the hotel was amazing with the 2nd world war history so tangible. The staff were professional but so friendly. My food intolerance was taken very seriously and all food options made clear to me. I did not miss out.
Shower curtain in our bathroom was discoloured and had mildew on the bottom edge. It was the only negative to our stay.
Beautiful historic building. Lovely room. Friendly, helpful staff. Stunning gardens. Brilliant location. Loveky afternoon tea!
Nothing.
I love the spacious rooms, the terrace & gardens, the availability of food & drinks & the warm welcome on arrival.
Beautiful surroundings, relaxing and great staff. Lovely lounge and amazing history.
Evening meal - Caesar salad sloppy, room for big improvement. Window ledge - filthy. Pigeon
Very clean room. Friendly staff Good food in the restaurant Interesting grounds and memorabilia Easy parking
Would have appreciated more information at breakfast. No one told us where to find the hot choices or asked if we wanted toast or more tea and coffee.
I treated my wife to a birthday treat at the Petwood. We got offered a reasonable price upgrade which I took. On arrival the ladies on reception were pleasant and welcoming. Our room (314) was wonderful. We had an early evening meal which was delicious and the dining room team were pleasant, especially Karen. An after dinner walk around the beautiful gardens at sunset was special. The buffet breakfast exeptionel. This was one of our many visits to the Petwood, and to be fair it has improved over the years. We will certainly be back in the future . Just one little niggle which I think you should know about , is the thick dust on the windowsills in the dining room.
Staff in all areas very friendly and helpful. Cooked Breakfast delicious. Room excellent, spacious , clean and comfortable.
No AC. Rooms extremely hot and uncomfortable, definitely need a more effective cooling system in the warmer months.
Easy to get good choice ,quick to get,no fuss
Nothing
The Petwood always delivers the best in accommodation, food and staff
Nothing
The history The room The fact that the hotel had not been ruined by inappropriate modernisation
The breakfast was the only disappointment Buffet cooked breakfast was ok but not for such a good hotel Freshly cooked eggs are far better
Stunning clean and beautiful
Chose because it is a dog-friendly hotel in an area we wanted to visit. Chose it because we have a dog & extended family live within driving distance. The hotel rooms, service & meals were all excellent. It also has a very interesting historical connection with 'The Dambusters'. The hotel was used as an HQ when Guy Gibson etc. were trying for their mission. & there is a lot of memorability in the hotel. Also there is a memorial to them in nearby Woodhall & RAF Conningsby is nearby which has a connection.
