Check in and check out staff were amazing, very cheerful and helpful. Similarly, the breakfast staff were very attentive and knew their stuff. Breakfast was absolutely fine and we didn't eat in the restaurant other than that.
The hotel is very tired and looks grubby. The rooms are not very clean (we had 4 rooms in our party) and the mattress in mine should have been changed a long time ago, very uneven and just clearly very old. The bar staff seemed disinterested both late afternoon and in the evening.
Breakfast was fine. Lovely big room. Had asked for it to be turned into twin but the large size of the bed was fine so didn’t need twin. Very comfortable.
Nothing. Since we stayed there before a while ago ifeel the hotel has mproved greatly. Everything about it seems more friendly and cleaner. Can’t fault the staff at all. We will definitely stay there again.
Nice breakfast, everyone friendly lovely place
Nice big room clean
The Inn was soulless in the evening busy during the day due to the weather so everyone outside .There wasn’t anyone on reception our tv in the room never worked but I must say although I rang down to reception but as I said it wasn’t maned so asked at the bar for someone to see if they could help they did try but couldn’t help till the following day .Our beds(single) were very uncomfortable
Great location, staff were friendly & helpful, plenty of room inside & out. Great outside play area for children. Comfortable bed We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again when visiting relatives.
Inside the shower there was not a shelf for shower gel & shampoo which made the little bottles difficult to manage & use, I had to bend down to the floor to reach them. It would have been nice to have a choice of egg with breakfast, only fried available
The beds were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate. The shower in our room broke but was fixed very quickly. All staff that we had dealings with were very friendly.
Every thing met our expectations and there was nothing any of my party disliked.
Great location
The bed mattress was very springy
Breakfast was nice.
Room, needs decorating and the place in general a bit thread bare
Brekfast was good not much choice of pastries or toast.
Noise in room of the fan, towels not that soft.
We were a party of 5 booked in for a meal. We arrived and was seated in the main dining area. Three of us ordered the teriyaki salmon, 1 the ploughman’s , and the other the chicken Caesar salad. The salad and ploughman’s were both good, but salmon meal was awful! It was so salty that we all left half of our meals. We did tell the waitress. On that evening I was Ill although the other two were ok. It’s two weeks on and my stomach is still not right! Im not sure if the salt was to cover not so good salmon or the rice was reheated. Be careful of what you order.
Noisy room so loud in the bathroom it was vibrating the bath. Sounded like air con or extractor fan. Poor sleep. Shower either freezing or very hot Two of our party were vomiting after the evening meal. Strange smell in stairwell and corridors
What was clearly a grand old house for the wealthy is now simply an old house. I guess we should be blessed that it is still in use and not boarded up with Security signs on the fence. But as an example of a quaint old hotel / pub, it doesn't show England, or Woodhall, off at it's finest. The nicest thing about the whole place was the grand staircase up to the first floor. A sign of things long gone. A corridor of blandness leads to a room of concern. It was fairly dingy, small, a hugely lumpy bed with the only redeeming feature being a new carpet. Climbing into and out of the bathtub to gain a shower approaching 70 years of age, is not something you want to do for long. Breakfast area was nice and the girls working in there were really good. TV didn't work and when reporting it to the reception guy, I may as well have told the pub's cat. Nothing was done about it. Expensive, although I suspect Woodhall Spa generally, rides on the success of the golf course in terms of what they can charge. One to avoid I'm afraid unless they spend 10 million on it and return it to the grandness of the 19th century when it was built...
Good location for centre of Woodhall Spa. Lady on reception on Saturday and Sunday was very friendly.
Avoid second floor rooms. We were told by receptionist on checking in that there were just a few stairs after getting lift to first floor, there were in fact 16. Given the very warm weather the room was unbearably hot so avoid second floor in very hot weather. We had relatives staying on first floor and it was not as bad. Receptionist on Friday evening check in was not welcoming or friendly, did not smile once. A friendly welcome is important in a hotel. Breakfast was ok but strict on times. Arrived at 9.30 on second day ( breakfast served till 9.30) but when I asked for some scrambled egg at 9.35 was told chef would ‘ not do anymore cooking now ‘. ! Mattress on bed in room 25 was lumpy and needs replacing.
**⭐ 1/5 – Quite possibly the worst customer service experience I have had in years** I genuinely cannot remember the last time I felt compelled to write such a negative review, but our experience at The Inn at Woodhall Spa was so extraordinarily poor that it deserves to be documented. We stopped here because it was advertised as being open from **12pm for a carvery**. We had plans for the afternoon, so the idea of a Sunday carvery seemed ideal: straightforward, traditional food that should, in theory, make for a relatively quick and pleasant lunch. What followed was an almost comical catalogue of poor organisation, terrible communication and, most disappointingly, staff attitudes that were utterly incompatible with customer service. From the outset, the welcome was distinctly unwelcoming. The staff member serving us was abrupt and appeared thoroughly disinterested in being there. During the relatively short time I was at the bar, she managed to get my partner's order wrong, along with the orders of two other customers. Her demeanour was so miserable that it was difficult to believe she was working in a customer-facing role at all. We then approached the bar to order food, only to be told that it would be **another hour before food was available and that they couldn't take orders until then**. Fine. We accepted that. We had a drink and decided to stay because we'd already made the journey and were prepared to wait the hour. We were also under the impression that, once the carvery started, the whole point of a carvery was that food could be served relatively efficiently. No alternative food options were offered. No meaningful explanation was given. We simply accepted what we were told. An hour later, we ordered. The attitude had not improved. We were then informed that we **couldn't sit in the restaurant**, despite having ordered a Sunday roast, and would have to sit in the bar area. Again, it wasn't the restriction itself that was particularly objectionable; it was the manner in which it was communicated. There was no warmth, no courtesy and no sense that anyone actually cared whether customers were comfortable. We were told we would be called when the carvery was ready. So we waited. And waited. **Forty-five minutes passed.** Not a word. No update. No apology. No explanation. No attempt to manage expectations. Eventually I went to the bar myself to find out what was happening. What greeted me was possibly the most spectacular display of indifference to a customer I have encountered in a long time. I was told, with an attitude that suggested I was somehow inconveniencing them by asking where our food was, that it would be **another 15 minutes because that was simply how weekends worked**. Apparently this was information worth keeping from customers for nearly two hours. We had already made it perfectly clear that we had afternoon plans. We had been happy to wait the hour we were originally told about. What we were **not** prepared to do was sit around indefinitely while nobody bothered to communicate that the advertised "quick lunch" had turned into an extended exercise in waiting. At that point, we'd had enough. We requested a refund. Even this apparently required considerable effort. The member of staff dealing with the refund continued to behave with the same dismissive, discourteous attitude. Eventually the manager intervened. To her credit, she was the **only person who displayed anything resembling professionalism throughout the entire experience**. She listened, apologised, understood the situation and instructed the refund to be processed. Unfortunately, even then, the attitude continued. The money was handed over with virtually no acknowledgement, and when it went across the bar, the response was an exasperated huff followed by walking away. That interaction summed up the entire experience perfectly: **the customer was treated as an inconvenience from beginning to end.** And that is ultimately what is so astonishing. Nobody expects perfection. Restaurants get busy. Food takes longer than expected. Orders occasionally get mixed up. Things happen. What separates a good establishment from a dreadful one is how those problems are handled. Here, they were handled with **indifference, poor communication and an attitude that seemed to suggest customers should simply accept whatever they were given and be grateful for it**. The manager deserves credit for attempting to resolve the situation, and there was another young member of staff who appeared to have considerably more awareness of basic manners and customer service. Unfortunately, they were very much the exception. The overall atmosphere was miserable. We heard other customers complaining, and the establishment itself looked tired and run-down in places. It gave the distinct impression of somewhere that has become complacent and forgotten one rather important detail: **Customers are not an inconvenience. They are the reason you have a business.** We arrived expecting a pleasant Sunday lunch. We left having spent an unnecessary amount of time waiting, received no food whatsoever, had our plans disrupted, and were left genuinely astonished by the level of poor customer service. I would be embarrassed to have staff representing my business in this manner. Quite frankly, if this is considered an acceptable standard of customer service at The Inn at Woodhall Spa, then the management has a serious problem that goes considerably beyond a delayed carvery. **We will absolutely not be returning.** More importantly, if anyone asks me whether I would recommend this establishment, my answer will be an unequivocal **no**. There are countless places where you can spend your money and receive basic courtesy, communication and respect in return. Based on our experience, The Inn at Woodhall Spa was emphatically not one of them. **An utterly miserable experience from start to finish. Avoid.**
Breakfast was lovely, location great easy access by bus to lincoln, nice local bars and restaurants
Rooms can be very warm, but it does advise this on website
The pub looks lovely from outside with nicely laid out tables on the patio and lawns. And that's where the nice bit ends .... at approx 1215 hrs on a Thursday afternoon at least 4 items were not available from the bar menu. It was easier to ask the staff what was available. The hot drinks machine was out of action and the young staff overwhelmed with trying to keep disgruntled customers happy. An Aperol spritz was over £14. well above normal pub prices. No managed oversight an obvious link to the disastrous lack of food and hot drinks menu. On the plus side the scampi and chips were nice. A pub sadly lacking in poor management that I will obviously give a miss on my next visit to Woodhall Spa.
The staff were great, great atmosphere,,accomodation was good, foid is excellent, everyone that works there were really nice

Great location and breakfast
Room was on the top floor, it was a hot day/night. As you walked up the stairs the temperature got hotter. Fans provided but unfortunately no air conditioning in room which resulted in very poor night sleep as room was like a sauna.
Lovely friendly staff, great location.
Location couldn’t have been better everything on the door step
Breakfast could have gone on to 10am
Staff all very friendly
Room was spacious and comfortable
Meals were average pub food
Relaxing bar for evening drinks. Tasty breakfast served by friendly staff making us feel welcome.
Used to enjoy visiting the Inn and trying some local ales which were on the bar. Much to my dismay, this time there were no ales available on the pumps. The choice was pretty much lager or Neckoil . Very disappointed, went elsewhere.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent, with good portions and well prepared and presented food. Sadly, due to staff shortages, the restaurant was only open for dinner on 1 night of our stay.... Similarly, the bar shut very early (9pm) presumably for the same reasons, albeit open to residents, beyond that time. But there was no-one in the bar and the bar area/pumps had all been cleaned and shut off.
Nothing we didn't like, but we were disappointed that staff shortages meant no dinner except for the day of arrival, and also that the main bar shut early (9pm) for presumably similar staff shortage reasons.
Amazing in every way. Thank you
No suggestions
Nice location. Food onsite was good nice patio area
Small rooms with twin mattresses that were not good. No AC and the windows had restitution on opening only keeping a bit. Fans given: small cheap plastic. Mine broke twice.
Great location rooms clean staff very friendly and great choice for breakfast
The lady on reception was fantastic. Chatty, smiley, welcoming, efficient. By arrangement we were able to check in early as we were there for a birthday celebration and couldn't guarantee getting there before 9pm.
My daughter and I arrived as arranged. It was lunchtime and quite busy with diners. We had 3 further guests join us. My daughter went to the bar for menus and told they had stopped serving food despite the fact that they advertise food from 12 to 8.30pm. I questioned this for residents. The outcome yo that was yes they could serve us but we would be waiting 1hr+. This was 1.15pm. My daughter and I had travelled and were hot, thirsty and hungry. Ultimately we went and bought a load of sandwiches from a local bakery. This was the 2nd time this happened to us, so maybe they need to look at how they staff their kitchens and front of house.
Everything about the Inn was superb nothing was too much trouble.
Nothing
Terrible customer service. In this day and age, it's the backbone of a successful business. Shame on them for trying to scam me out of money, when we found out, no apology. Staff seemed miserable. God knows how bad it is behind the scenes
Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good. Great atmosphere in the bars and the outside space. The staff in the hotel were courteous and friendly and the service really good.
Air conditioning in the room (was a really hot weekend.) They did provide fans and they do warn you on their website that there isn't con.
After an entertaining evening at the Kinema in the woods we had booked a table for two for an evening meal, not an easy task on a Monday. We finally booked at the Inn at Woodhall Spa restaurant. On arrival the Hotel looked very presentable and busy. We were directed to the restaurant and that’s where everything changed. We were greeted by a gentleman in jeans a tee shirt and trainers who pointed us to a bare table, no tablecloth just a very worn table with two menus, the “restaurant” was a minimally decorated area that appeared to be part of an extendable conference/ meeting area with some sort of carvery server attached one other table of six was occupied at that time. We chose from the limited menu which was not what I expected comprising of a couple of vegetarian options Fish and chips burgers etc, ordered our drinks. I ordered a pint of what was described as a bitter but when I found out it was eight pounds when the bill was presented I don’t think I would have bothered. The food that was served was hot but unfortunately the Haddock I ordered, while being large was unfortunately totally tasteless, all in all I think that customers weren’t particularly wanted on a Monday evening as that was the general impression given, particularly when the person that we think may have been the chef shambled from the kitchen dead on the eight thirty cut off time for food wearing her slippers. It’s an awful shame that what gives the appearance of somewhere really special in reality is somewhere really below average. Unfortunately choice is severely limited in Woodhall Spa on a Monday evening and I think we fell unlucky.
The whole experience was good, I would stay again.
Nothing to complain about.
Love this place, right in the heart of the stunning town of Woodhall Spa. Great food and a large selection of draught beers. Pricing is very reasonable, and parking is free! Great day out for all in a place that is reminiscent of small-town USA.
Hotel surpassed expectations, very comfy, large bathroom and pleasant decor. Hotel has traditional feel to it with modern facilities. Enjoyed excellent meal in bar area and breakfast very good with good selection. Staff very helpful. Highly recommend.
Just one comment on negative side, could have done with blind in bedroom as was very light in the early morning with just the lightweight curtains.
Friendly staff, good food and comfy bed and room.
Rooms at front noisy.
Bed, car park, bar.
Bathroom. For a superior room we would have expected a separate bath and shower. Nowhere to put towel near the bath. No lift to 2nd floor. No headboard on bed causing discomfort. Damp patch on wall.
Good room, food and friendly helpful team.
Great position, generally very young but friendly staff
Rooms and showers a bit basic but met expectations for what I wanted.
Breakfast was OK, Room was nice and bed was small but comfortable.
Quite a bit of money for a hotel of that standard in April
Went for the Sunday Roast for Mothering Sunday. As usual it was delicious. Meat cooked to perfection with plenty of vegetables that you helped yourself to. Never disappointed just wish you were a bit nearer Spalding we would come more often.
Centrally located, breakfast was lovely, staff very friendly and welcoming
Nothing
We visited the Inn twice last year and in both occasions commented to the bar staff about the smell of stale urine in the gents toilets. Just called again and the pub is great but the toilets still stink what a let down for a cracking village
Food was great staff friendly location brill
Nothing
Clean and spacious
Property is looking tired and need of renovation
Awful customer service & poor communication following questions around opening hours - The inexperienced individuals in the image attached think it’s acceptable to take the attached picture on one of the groups mobile following questionable conversations. Thank you to the front desk and breakfast staff for their hospitality, food, location & service fantastic let down by a select few. Large group of 18 on our second visit will not be returning
We have been to woodhall now for the past three years and have to say that its been great in the past. However what we have witnessed during the recent visit I unfortunately won't be going back. The staff were rude, the facilities have dilapidated. The customer service was the worst I've ever seen and doesn't do this beautiful area / village justice. For any larger groups attending for the golf. I wouldnt bother go to the golf hotel, at least you might get a smile. Such a shame
Excellent hotel and well positioned!
Nothing to report
Lovely, generous, freshly made tuna mayonnaise and coronation chicken sandwiches, served with ample side salad.
The location is great for us,we like to go to Coningsby and watch the Typhoons
Wasn't impressed with our room, the bed wasn't all that comfy. The bathroom was small the bath took too much room, there wasn't a lot of room between the toilet and the bath, we prefer a walk in shower. Next visit I'll make a request to not be allocated that room again.
Location, how friendly the staff were , great breakfast and very clean

Great location, breakfast lovely, bar food good, very friendly staff.
Had Sunday lunch at the Inn with friends. Always book as it gets busy. Have been before and always get a great meal. Served as a carvery the choice is beef, pork or turkey. You can help yourself to a huge selection of freshly prepared vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Food is always hot, fresh and delicious. All for £15.50, such good value. Have booked again for a few weeks time
Always welcoming. Lovely place
Great location for shops and local amenities. Nice big room very clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff all round.
Nothing
Breakfast was fine, location good, room good. Never understand why do they put people with disabilities on the second floor.
Great location, and lovely looking building
The bed was very uncomfortable as it was lumpy and I could feel springs sticking out from it, so I didn’t sleep well. Was frustrating too that there was nothing in the shower cubicle to put your gel or anything, so it had to be the floor, not ideal, just a shelf would have been useful.
Excellent, friendly attentive staff, very impressed.
Nothing
Clean room. Comfortable bed Hot water, good water pressure Good location and parking.
Breakfast was poor. Cooked items were cold. Very disappointing. Tables were sticky. Some areas of the hotel were tired looking, needed painting.
Good sized room and bed, huge bathroom
Breakfast buffet was very ordinary, would have been nice to have some cook to order options
The Breakfast had been put out to early. We found it slightly cold even it had been under a hot plate equipment. But it was nicely presented with helpful staff.
We could have done with a walk in shower. Due to my wife’s condition.
La ubicación
Great location on the Main Street
Bar closed early
The whole package
Very good position and facilities
Second floor access by stairs only
We really enjoyed our stay with this hotel. The staff were all exceedingly polite, interactive and efficient. We should certainly stay there again as a refuge in the busy storm of our lives, building our businesses and creating jobs in the UK and Europe. maybe next year we shall have a full week's holiday. Providing this Government does not reduce our efforts to expand.
Location staff cleanliness
Breakfast was ok
The hotel was nice, clean and the staff friendly. The evening meal and breakfast were good.
I had room 17. I slept very badly!! All night long there was a terrible intermittent roaring noise and vibration which kept me awake all night!! I asked what this was and was told it was the cooling machine for the cellar!!
Very clean room. Good welcome and fab breakfast.
There wasn’t anything to complain about.
Great location, nice room, friendly staff. Suited our needs.
Breakfast wasn’t great, usual pre-cooked buffet, overcooked eggs, had to ask for bread/toast as none was put out (unusual for a buffet style, serve yourself)
Great location.
Room is functional and but dated. Areas in hallways badly damaged by assume cleaning trolleys. Distracts from downstairs areas that are far more polished.
Location and Breakfast
Very plain room and dated Bathroom
We only had the breakfast once as the bacon was hardly cooked the eggs were hard. And was only just warm. The bedroom, I had a small space to walk through as wardrobe was by the bed and became tricky getting in and out of bed through the night. The roo. Needed some care I.e painting and some repair needed.
Staff went above and beyond...the lady on the reception was lovely.. nothing was too much trouble..The lady at breakfast was so kind and Darren the night porter was just amazing...so kind
Next to golf facility
Breakfast was very reasonable. Room was very nice.
Bathroom was extremely large but not very well designed. No shelf to put your toothbrush ect on. Nothing to put your clothes on when having a bath or shower .
The inn was very nice. Everywhere was clean. The staff were very polite and friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean.
Nothing
The staff were nice the bar area and food was good
The hotel is a little tired bathroom was really small, there was a lot of noise in the early hours and there was no reply when we called for the night porter so our stay was spoilt .
all very nice staff very helpful and pleasant.
In the room it would have been nice if the hairdryer had a plug near the mirror. Everything else was very nice.
Badly trained staff
