Hotel Majestic

We love this property. All the staff have been friendly the three times we’ve stayed. Special thanks to Manoj for making our stay so lovely. The staff here have a special ability of making their guests feel like family. They are warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back.

The Hotel Majestic is magical and the staff is fantastic. We enjoy staying here anytime we are visiting the City. I appreciated access to Keurig 24 hours. The cookies at night are a lovely touch and the breakfast is good, especially if you like fresh waffles, scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and sausage. But what really sets this historic hotel apart is the staff. I highly recommend the restaurant Octavia that is around the corner for dinner, as it is Michelin noted.

The on street parking is challenging.

This hotel was the most affordable option in a prime location within Japantown. It was so easy to walk to nearby restaurants or take a quick Uber to most other destinations. It was relatively quiet and felt safe. The staff were all friendly

The hotel is old and it shows. The breakfast that's included isn't anything to write home about, but this hotel is still a better deal than most hotels nearby that don't include breakfast. The shower/bath situation felt a little dangerous as getting in and out of the clawfoot tub felt like a gamble. Wasn't reassured to see a shim under the legs either.

The hotel is charming, and the suites are spacious and comfortable. If you are looking for a stay in a historical venue, the Majestic is your place.

The included breakfast was below expectations, with day-old bread and dry scrambled eggs. The water flow at the faucets was rather low, but the shower was fine.

Great staff; we arrived very early and they offered us breakfast even though we weren't technically eligible until the following day.

It's an older building and the dining room in particular could do with a little freshening

Bathroom needed some tlc, taps loose etc. The breakfast was basic [as we had expected] but it did get a bit repetitive after 3 days.

Nice room, great location, and helpful staff who responded to our concern about noise.

We were unfortunately below a room occupied by guests who made a lot of stomping noise from 10PM until midnight. Fortunately staff helped out and asked them to be quiet.

decor is fabulous ; complimentary breakfast was great and a major bonus. having coffee and bottled waters 24/7 were definitely perfect; keep that up please.

Sutter Street is noisy during the night. The hotel has no parking; a day parking at a parking nearby is $35, and not all of the parkings listed by the hotel are still operational.

Great location. Our room was huge (2 twin beds- room 402). Quirky vibe.

A member of our party was in 412 and it was an odd room, poor lighting, and noisy .

Hotel w starym stylu, wyposażenie ma już swoje lata ale tworzy to ciekawy styl. W pokoju czysto, wyposażenie wystraczające. Na bardzo duży plus bezpłatna woda i kawa przy recepcji.

Nasz Pokój miał co prawda okno ale z widokiem na ścianę... to było słabe. Śniadania raczej monotonne, zabrakło nam trochę więcej warzyw i owoców. Okolica hotelu dość niebezpieczna na wieczorne spacery.

booking.com has the room listed with a different bathroom layout and the hotel doesn’t have any bathrooms larger that have dual sinks. None of their rooms do. So just be aware of that. I made the staff at the hotel aware of this so they could escalate to management.

Our 2nd stay at the Majestic and we were very comfortable, and friendly staff , loved the complimentary breakfast, large bright dining room, comfortable bar.

There is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but available in the reception/lobby area

Hotel Majestic was absolutely adorable and full of character. It had that charming, old San Francisco feeling in the best way, while still being comfortable, clean, and practical. The location was great, especially for the value, and the staff could not have been warmer or more helpful. They held our bags while we explored the city, greeted us so kindly, and the cookies in the foyer when we arrived were such a sweet touch. The room setup was fantastic for a roommate-style stay, with two twin beds, a big bathroom, and a great shower. It felt thoughtful, welcoming, and genuinely charming from start to finish.

The only real downside was the parking. You have to park in a garage, and that was not made clear up front, which would have been helpful to know before arrival. Other than that, we really enjoyed the hotel.

The only negative was the bed. It was very firm so I didn’t have a very comfortable night sleeping.

I prepaid my stay through Booking.com, yet after checkout The Hotel Majestic charged my credit card a second time for the full cost of my stay. Instead of correcting the duplicate charge, they repeatedly expected me to spend hours acting as the middleman between them and Booking.com. What was most unbelievable was that the hotel admitted they had proof Booking.com had sent the payment to the wrong property, yet instead of taking that evidence directly to Booking.com themselves, they expected me to do it. They literally asked me to contact Booking.com on their behalf and try to recover their payment, even though I had already paid for my stay months earlier and provided them proof. I have no access to their contracts, payment systems, or business relationship with Booking.com, yet they expected me to resolve their vendor dispute because it was apparently more convenient than handling it themselves. That is one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I have ever had. I have attached screenshots of these emails so others can see for themselves. My family lives in the area, so we visit often. We had planned to stay at The Hotel Majestic again and were even going to recommend it to my mother when she visits this fall. After this experience, I cannot recommend a hotel that treats its customers this way or trust them with a family member's credit card. Also- just stay away from Booking.com. They are giving me the run around as well when they have confirmed on multiple calls and through multiple emails in writing that I did pay fully initially.

I liked the upgraded room. The first room that I got was way too in the corner and it was in a very bad shape. They should mark it as store toom, plus all the kitchen smell was going in that room. Upon frequented request, they changed the room for me. The new room was decent

The hotel is old, but besides that, the lampshades were torn. The place was not kept up like it should have been. The real issue is that there were blowflies in the dining area and throughout the hotel. Blow flies are only attracted to composing animals or humans. They are the large fluorescent disgusting flies. I even mentioned it to the bartender and he said yeah, we do have those in the hotel. Something must’ve died.

The tea selection was quite unexpectedly fine (given breakfast was rather poor). I very much liked that you could have a bottle of water any time (and in as many as you'd like). There was a selection of tea and boiled water all day. Very friendly staff.

Breakfast was at the lower spectrum of my expectations. No veggies, just meat, omelette, and milk with cereals. There was a bathtub (no shower, which I prefer). The light in the room was rather dim (which encourages more sleep than work, which should be considered a good thing, shouldn't it?) Speaking of working in a room, the table was not available, and it was simply not easy. I had a room with two beds (rather narrow), and would prefer a single one. I knew about this "inconvenience", so I knew what I'd be paying for upfront.

Charming hotel with lots of character, it being of Victorian style and the oldest hotel in San Francisco. Friendly staff. Good gym. Thought the complimentary breakfast was good—plenty of fruit and eggs available (which is what I ate), in addition to the carbs (e.g., make-your-own waffles) that other reviewers were complaining about.

Could use a little more light. The room was a little smaller than I expected based on the square footage on Booking (not sure if the square footage displayed was accurate), but hotels in San Francisco understandably run a little smaller due to real estate costs.

Beautiful “Old World Charm” The building itself date back to 1902. Ours was a small room, but it was very cozy. The price for the room was very good considering it’s San Francisco.

Breakfast is really good

Windows very old and with no sound proof and the curtains were very basic and let in a lot of light. Also, the room had portable air conditioning which was very load and did not work properly. Fortunately, the nights were cold and we were able to sleep without having the air conditioning working.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Majestic. The hotel is beautiful and full of so many fine details. We loved the decor and all of the vintage light fixtures and artwork in ornate gold frames. It felt like you were stepping back in time in the best way possible. We had a suite that was very spacious and comfortable, and we were very thankful for the a/c unit. We also loved the bar and the complimentary breakfast.

No complaints, we would love to stay there again.

The hotel itself has a classic atmosphere, but there were several disappointing points during my stay. First, the bed frame was unusually high, and one of the side posts was loose and shaking, which felt unsafe and could potentially cause injury. The breakfast was average at best — more comparable to a typical 3-star hotel rather than what I expected from this property. The older woman at the front desk tried to appear friendly, but I personally felt a subtle dismissive attitude toward Asian guests during interactions. In particular, when explaining that the parking lot was located about three blocks away, the tone and manner felt somewhat condescending and uncomfortable. Overall, the stay did not match the level of hospitality and comfort I had expected.
