We liked the room service, the shower, and the bed mattress quality
This is a lovely hotel right near JapanTown with large rooms, nice amenities, an accommodating staff, parking and a Tesla charger. Everything we needed for a weekend away in San Francisco
Nothing
Safe location near Japan town. Attentive staff. Modern and clean room.
We got ground floor which was actually below street level, due to the hilly location. The parking was very expensive. 55$ a day
Good location in Japantown close to Pacific Heights, very attentive staff, pet-friendly.
Not the best value for money.
Hotel fidèle a sa description. Très bel hotel, personnel globalement très accueillant. Prestations au top. Merci
Location-close to the Spanish consulate The restaurant upstairs was nice. I just had tea there one evening but the waitstaff was attentive and the place was attractive
I did not think the property was a 4 star hotel. I have stayed at other 4 star hotels through Booking and this missed the mark. It reminded me of a Hampton Inn. Clean but bare bones
Good location in Japantown
Room was very smelly and it is not possible to open window more than 5 cm. The windows in the building are blocked on purpose. That makes the whole hotel unventilated and smelly damaging the overall impression a lot.
The cleanness of the room!
No bath tub available, no breakfast in hotel building.
Very clean and remodeled in good taste. The building is old but everything was very nice and updated inside. It was in a perfect location, we were very close to restaurants, shopping even a convenience store.
I’d say if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Not that it’s super noisy but the walls are thin. I’m use to sleeping in a city so it didn’t bother me at all but I could hear if a door opened and closed.
Location was amazing
The staff was very nice and the location couldn't be beat! The coffee in the morning was SO welcomed and there were so many places we could visit within walking distance.
The lobby was very small and we needed more lighting in the room. We were a bit cramped with four people but it was totally manageable and we loved having the balcony!
Location
Reserved and paid for parking but one night we did not have spot!
Location and interior refurbishment.
1). Price is way too high. Was not up to $300 per night by the time everything was paid. 2). Staff in restaurant was among the worst I have ever experienced! Long wait, not attention to guests, guests getting silverware and table water for themselves while the server was lost in space.
We booked two rooms. They were spacious and clean. The Reception staff were very friendly. We liked the location close to Fillmore Street. Free morning coffee and tea was appreciated. The price was reasonable. We were initially allocated a room that was noisy but then reallocated to a quieter room. The garage gets booked up quickly but we there is a large car pack in the Japan Centre, which is in very short walking distance.
I liked how clean the bathroom and room was and how accommodating the staff are.
The shower was a bit of a weird situation. I couldn’t take a shower without getting water everywhere because of the door - it didn’t close properly.
This Hotel does not live up to the Kimpton Brand!
We stayed at TWO different hotels during out visit an this one was the BEST one! Fist time staying at a VOCO hotel and we will be back. My check- in experience was great, the lobby was clean and the room set up was AMAZING! Our guest room was clean and the amenities were great. Keep up the good work!
The convenience to explore Japan Town within walking distance and the comfort of the rooms. Safe underground garage
No signage of the breakfast area and bar. And operating hours of the bar was none existent. The hotel's website needs to be updated on food places that are in the area. The few listed no longer exist/closed down. Breakfast was mentioned it's Thai influenced but nothing on the breakfast menu is Thai influence. More of standard American breakfast. The room I selected mentioned sound proof and it wasn't really a sound proof room. Could hear our next door neighbors and people walking past the room.
Location
No slippers and bathrobe
Armani, great personality, very nice and welcoming.
Perfect location!

Convenient
There were mixed messages about the refrigeration of two cake boxes.
Big room, great bed. Staff is super friendly. Very god parking lot.
Shower was a bit weak, but still hot and good.
I love the huge room and bed! Very comfortable. Great location.
Location was excellent - quiet and convenient for getting anywhere in San Francisco. Staff went above and beyond at all times and the complimentary morning coffee and ‘wine hour’ was very much appreciated
Everything was very comfortable. It would have been nice to have had one comfortable chair in the room.
The front stairs. they were a little daunting as they were very uneven.
The room was very large and clean. Staff was friendly. Bed was comfortable and there were many things available if you forgot something at home.
The room was a bit overpriced and could use a couch and table. The room was so big but felt empty. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Parking was really difficult. The garage is set up funky and extremely difficult to park in.
Excellent location next to Japantown - very easy to walk to nearby mall and restaurants. The rooms were very quiet and the attached garage was perfect for our car.
Nice hotel, great location
No complaints
I loved everything about property. It was tasteful, and clean. The entire premises made me feel at peace.
LOCATION
NEED ONE FRIMER PILLOW
We stayed here the night before a surgery at UCSF. The total cost for a corner room for a single night with parking was over $700, which is total highway robbery for a hotel of this quality. The room is OK, with a decent bathroom and linens, but the windows are old with major gap in the panels of our sliding glass door, which resulted in significant outside noise coming into the room. We were in the 6th floor in the corner room, which was a slight upgrade over the basic rooms. This room should bar been at a discount to the other rooms, as the extra windows on 2 sides of the room allowed for even more noise to come into the room, including from large mechanical equipment on a roof just below our room. We would not stay here again.
Just had a lovely 2 night stay at Hotel Enso. Great location in Japantown, next to the #2 bus that goes straight to Union Square, or the #22 to the Marina (download the muni app for tickets). Just across the street from the hotel is a pedestrian block with cute restaurants and shops: Hinodeya Ramen bar was excellent! A little further is a mall with a large Daiso. We had a relaxing breakfast at the hotel one morning. The food was carefully prepared, beautiful and delicious, but probably not a great choice if you are in a rush (we were not and really enjoyed it!). The following morning we walked three blocks to Sweet Maple for brunch featuring millionaire bacon. At the hotel we enjoyed the complimentary wine at 5pm and the morning coffee in the lobby. No coffee in the rooms, but looks like you can request a coffee maker for your room among other things. Our room was clean, peacefully decorated, and comfortable. Loved the soap and shampoo scents. The TV didn’t have streaming apps except for $25 movie sales. But if you bring your own devices the free WiFi is fast enough.
Clean, welcoming staff, convenient, great location, comfortable bed, quiet and the water refill stations were a plus!
That there was no parking for us at the hotel
The bed was very comfortable! The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The daybed by the window is lovely. The location is convenient to all the major sights. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
The bathtub was not always clean.
Room was comfortable and light. Staff was uniformly frindly and helpful.
Very helpful staff, great location, and nice rooms. Each room seems to have a bay window which makes them really enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the beds are great, and the environment is relaxing.
The lobby is down a half level, which makes it a little dark. Perhaps a little more lighting and more separate seating groups would improve it. Otherwise, this is a wonderful hotel.
Excellent location, great access to public transportation, clean, and spacious !
Nothing
Great location in the Japantown and close to O’Farrell street.
No ramp for suitcases at the entrance. Rooms can be quite noisy. Water pressure was rather weak. Room service was too late in the day.
This hotel did not have parking available, and that was not clearly communicated ahead of time. I had called earlier in the day about traveling with my dog, and it was obvious I was arriving by car, yet no one mentioned that there was no parking available or that I would need to find street parking on my own. When I arrived, I had no choice but to leave my car on the street. I raised the issue and suggested they really need valet service, or at least some kind of parking solution. The response was that they can’t afford valet or security. There was no accommodation offered and no concern shown — staff acted as if this was a new or unusual problem, rather than an ongoing issue they should already be prepared for. The hotel was also very noisy. I could clearly hear people talking on the patio and in the hallways, doors slamming, and even a dog sniffing in the room next door. The lobby setup was uncomfortable and awkward — everyone sits on a single couch facing the entrance, so when you walk in it feels like the entire room is staring at you. Not welcoming at all. For $300 a night, you can find something far better and far more hospitable. I would not stay here again.
Hotel is very clean and in the heart of Japantown. Many good food options within walking distance. No coffee/tea in the rooms but complimentary coffee/tea in the lobby every morning. Also, complimentary wine in the evenings. Water dispenser next to ice machine in the hallway, but walls are thin so can hear everything.
location
slamming doors - parking away from hotel
The hotel location was perfect for our situation. The food in the restaurant inside the hotel is phenomenal! The hotel is clean, with 24/7 front desk service. Coffee from 6am-10am.
Central Location, very comfortable bed, excellent service, accommodating.
Street noise/road noise, couldn't be helped. We were on 7th floor, and its at heart of Japantown. Better quality bath and wash towels needed.
The location of the hotel was AMAZING. We loved how close we were to Japantown, and it made it super easy to reach restaurants, shops, and more.
The pillows were a bit too soft and weren't super comfortable.
This is a wonderful hotel in the heart of San Francisco. Located in Japantown near a boutique shopping strip with restaurants on Filmore. On two bus lines, so easy to get around town. Safe walking area, even at night. The hotel staff is especially welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean overlooking the courtyard where the hotel provides outdoor games and sitting areas around fire pits. We especially liked the complimentary coffee service in the morning and the happy hour wine service. We will definitely return!
Nice and clean. Located in a safe area yet we were still able to walk to the sites and visit family in the area
WiFi was slower than expected. Hard to do work while there
Safe location and facilities very clean
Location was awesome
Room was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the wine happy hour when I checked in.
Restaurant was reservations only, 11 courses and over $140. Wish there was another dining option in hotel. Felt hotel was overpriced.
Great location. Loved the coffee station in the morning and happy hour time in the afternoon!
Cleaning of the hallway and the room.
Mattress and bedding were exceptional! Great Location! Very Quiet property! Friendly helpful staff. efficient check in and out! They remembered our anniversary at front desk! That was impressive! Thank you!
corner king balcony room that was a little dated and under appointed. No sitting area other than desk chair for what was a supposed upgraded room.
Great location, very relaxed, great design, comfy beds, spacious, nice shower Lots of local, walkable (within a few blocks) interesting shops and restaurants
A little noise from other rooms, not enough to be bothersome
Clean, happy hour, deck
-
Great location in Japantown. Walking distance to a lot of shopping and restaurants.
Parking was not easy as is probably typical for San Francisco. Garage is small and not easy to get in and out of.
Very little to be honest - struggling to think of any redeeming features. Location is solid, that’s about it! Bathroom and walk in shower were quite nice, but finishing wasn’t the best.
More of a Motel than a Hotel, and I knew immediately on check in that I was going to be disappointed. Prices were very high, and that didn’t even get you a bottle of complimentary water in the room - the last thing I wanted to do after travelling for 16 hours + was to go hunting for water! Room was very average relative to the cost, and the sound insulation was so poor, that I could more or hear the phone conversation of another guest in the adjacent room! Breakfast of eggs and avocado featured one hot egg and one lukewarm egg - how is this possible! - and the chef appeared to also be the server, which just gave the impression the property was not appropriately staffed. Due to stay 4 nights and checked out after on,y one night - even that was painful, with front desk being unable to resolve this basic ask and they had to get the manager involved. Cancellation of additional nights was eventually resolved satisfactorily, but it was not straightforward. A property to avoid..
OMG… seriously worst Kimpton I’ve ever stayed in. There is no service at the restaurant… like waiting 20 minutes for a cup of coffee. It’s actually shocking to me that they just don’t just close it. This place is an absolute joke. I mean I used to love Kimpton’s but I will never return to this place. Never. And if you want a hotel with restaurant DO NOT STAY HERE.
Great location and room, older building meant you could hear and feel doors slamming shut.
As I was traveling from oversees, I was unfamiliar with the “extra” fees for processing the room booking. The price received via booking.com vs the price I paid ended up being an extra $400, and I didn’t order anything or charge anything else to the room.
Very comfortable rooms with nice balconys. Enjoyed Japantown and very central in area. Showers and facilities were great. Very nice decor. Coffee and drinks downstairs is handy and nice touch. Staff very pleasant.
All good!
Location and staff
Parking
Friendly and nice staff, convenient restaurant on site, great location for Fillmore and Japantown. Room was a little noisy from housekeeping staff.
We loved the hotel in general. It's clean, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff friendly. There is a nice roof garden with chairs, the lobby is cozy and equipped with couches, tables, wifi, and courtesy wine.
Not just about this hotel, but hotels in San Francisco in general (in the USA more broadly) do not include the parking space. And it's never cheap, so you end up paying more than expected for the stay.
Great location, very comfortable, good value
Clean room with a great restroom. Enjoyed staying here very much and would consider booking there again.
Great hotel, was their for work and made my trip super easy.
