Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Location was exilent with very good parking facilities. Breakfast was good and filling with plennty of choice. What was not said in the write up was that the Crow How is located on the bus route linking Windermere, Ambleside, Grassmere and Keswick with a bus stop handy for both directions. This was a real assett with parking limitations in the area. Location I found ideal it was far enough out of Ambleside to be peacefull and quiet but near enogh to be handy.
The only down thing for me (and it was a very minor one) was the bath in my room. This was a dual purpose bath to designed for use as a bath and shower. For me the compromise was too much a cmpromise in favour of the shower. I spent all my days there out walking, when I got back my legs ached so it was nive to have a hot bath to relieve my aching musles. Unfortunatly the shap of the bath was too uncomfertabler to allow a long realaxing soak. This I stress was a very minor point and should not be held against the quest house. I was very gratefull for what I had got
Tranquil setting and in walking distance of Ambleside. Very clean.
Uncomfortable chair/settee in bedroom. Lack of table & chair to sit at inside for own supper.
Davon abgesehen: alles bestens !
Wonderful B&B, historic but with modern and updated rooms, hearty and good breakfasts. The hosts were welcoming and helpful.
All excellent, would highly recommend!
Everything was excellent 🤗
There wasn’t one thing about the property that I din’t like it
Atmosfera autentica e colazione veramente buona
Its peaceful setting. The cleanliness of guest house was excellent. A good choice for breakfast on the menu with the waitress staff friendly and very helpful.
Nothing.

Beautifully located guesthouse. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the excellent breakfast with various hot options. The fridge in the room was a bonus.
Walking to both Ambleside and Rydal is along the main road, it would have been nice to have easier access to the back roads.
Very welcoming we will be back soon
Everything location staff room was a fantastic size and very clean breakfast was great to
A great selection of breakfast items is available.

We adored our room with its gorgeous views! Such a beautiful place to stay.
Very clean and staff were great. Breakfast was lovely
Expensive for what you actually get

A lovely place to relax and rest. Perfect distance from Ambleside, offering both calm and proximity to local pubs and shops. Good place to start walks from. Clean, cozy, spacious room. Beautiful garden.
Beautifully kept guest house in a great location for all our needs. Ambleside is a quaint place with lots of interesting shops, cafes and pubs.. plenty of places for walks and boat trips to appreciate all Windermere has to offer. I highly recommend Crow How. We were made to feel very welcome and the cleanliness and breakfast choices were outstanding. Thankyou
We liked everything 😊
The location is amazing, and if you are reasonably fit, you can walk to either Ambleside or the Badger Bar in Rydal for food and drink. The Breakfasts were amazing, serving fresh fruit and yoghurt every day. Also great selections of cooked food. The room we had was spacious, with a lovely view and a comfortable bed. The gardens were beautiful.
The walk to Rydal along the narrow footpath in places - which was overgrown with weeds - was, in my experience, dangerous given the amount of large vehicles along the main road and having to cross the road twice. We recommend the walk to Ambleside on the main road, as it has a safer footpath and is easier to walk. Unfortunately, at this time of year, August, the swallows had made a mess of the seats in the garden, and we had to clean them to sit down. At times, the signal was poor, and we could not watch some channels and Netflix.
Convenient for Ambleside
Tired, could do with a good clean. Breakfast not the greatest.
Greeted by Lewis in reception, made us feel very welcome, we had forgotten the Thermos flask lent us one. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good and the lady who served it was friendly and quick.
Nothing
The room view is incredible. The staffs are friendly, we had a very good experience there. Every morning wakes up like a dream.
Easy to find, lovely cute guest house
Nothing, was so lovely in beautiful surroundings. The only slight thing was the lady serving breakfast. Not sure if we should have been down dot on 8.30am-we got there at 8.45am. She seemed quite moody and solemn, not very friendly at all-unlike the couple who own it,who were lovely. Maybe we caught her on a bad day🤷🏻♀️
A lovely, peaceful spot, with gardens to wander around and walks on the doorstep. Just a 10 minute stroll into Ambleside Village. Great breakfast and helpful, friendly and obliging staff.
Some of the upholstery in on the chairs in our room was worn through
Superb guest house in lovely location - perfect for walking or trail running from the doorstep ( Coffin route ) or heading for the fells (Fairfield round if the weather is good). Quiet location outside the main centre of Ambleside but only a short walk into the town for shopping and restaurants. We were able to park the car in the guesthouse parking and leave it there for the duration of our stay. The room was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean! Drying room a practical bonus. Breakfast absolutely delicious- highlights include the best fruit salad I have had in a while and the Eggs Benedict! Quality thick delicious bacon! Ready supply of fresh milk for tea/ coffee in the bedroom which was lovely and much appreciated.
Bed a little hard for us and pillows not to our liking- but this is personal preference and the next person would not necessarily have a problem. Great to have a fridge in the bedroom but the noise of the fridge woke us both up in the night.
We had a well equipped, very comfortable room with lovely views. The breakfast was great and we were served very quickly when we explained that we wanted to get away early. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Beautiful setting and within easy walking distance from Ambleside. Beautiful gardens and lots of places to sit outside. Nice spacious room and comfortable bed. But the highlight of our stay was the excellent breakfast; which was perfect in every way.
A lovely country guesthouse in a good location away from the busy town. Our room was huge and beautiful and the bathroom amazing. Room 4 . I was so happy with how quiet the room was and how comfortable. There are a few easy walks nearby that allow you to keep away from the main road. The nicest trail was near the stepping stones and led all the way to near the lake. It is actually an access road but every one was walking .. and very few cars. Breakfast was excellent too.
Location lovely in a quiet location 15-20 mins walk outside of Ambleside. Modern bedroom/bathroom. Breakfast great. Staff very friendly. Gorgeous gardens to walk around.
Nothing
Great location with great views. Very clean and space. Very uptodate furniture, fittings, bathrooms and bed. Very warm welcome. Only 20 minutes , nice walk, to Ambleside. I certainly would stay here again.
There was nothing not to like.
Really big room and lovely bath room. Beautiful location and good breakfast.
The hosts were very helpful with excellent tips about walking and eating. And the place itself is a delight. Beautifully set with views of the fells, lovely gardens, and nestled in among working sheep farms. A short walk from town, so no need for a car. Just great.
On the one hand it felt right in the country with stunning surroundings and yet it was a 2 minute drive into town. Prefect location, so chilled. The property itself was beautiful, well maintained and we had and exceptional large room and huge bathroom. Fabulous hosts and the breakfast all freshly cooked to order.

Comfy bed, good shower, house and gardens lovely. Good location, short walk to Ambleside or Rydal. Close to main road and bus route, nearest bus stop only 5 minutes. There is a drying room for coats and boots. I arrived early but had been informed I could park the car there which was very handy, used downstairs loo and walked into Ambleside.
The room was hot.
Lovely little guest house in a lovely location.
Nichts.
Fantastic location, clean comfortable room. Owners were very knowledgeable about the area and made some great recommendations.
Nothing it was a perfect place to stay.
Location was exquisite— very scenic, quiet, and walkable to Ambleside. Very kind and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent. Facilities were beautifully kept, clean, and easy to navigate.
We had everything we could have needed. We genuinely cannot think of anything that could be improved.
Wonderful, convenient location. Great large breakfast, friendly professional staff.
Breakfast room very Spartan Wardrobe in bedroom made noises when passing
Location, style & peacefulness
Could be a little more information provided about the lodge & surrounding access to paths. Small issue
Beautiful guest house, lovely breakfast, fabulous location just 10 minute walk from Ambleside.
There wasn't anything I didn't like
Location, rooms, breakfast were all amazing.
Quiet rural location with parking and only 20 min walk to Ambleside. Our room was very comfortable, breakfast good and we enjoyed views across hills and local cricket ground.
Our stay at the Crow How was wonderful. So relaxing and peaceful and quiet. The room was beautiful with a lovely view and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was excellent. Would definitely return.
Everything was great
Ligging, bereikbaarheid
Beautiful place. The place is about 1 mile from the village center which we loved, easy and beautiful walk to the village. The owner was very friendly and informative.
Lovely manor house in the town of Ambleside- made us feel like royalty- the hosts Jill and Andrew were attentive and easy to talk too- they recommended several places to visit in the area which we added to our daily outings- you will also love Ambleside itself, walking distance from the house with a lively high street , plenty of restaurant choices and darling shops and pubs We liked it so much more than Windermere, that was just down the road Oh and full English breakfast and other choices was superb! A great start to our day

Crow How is a fabulous place to stay within easy walking distance of bustling Ambleside but located in a beautiful, quiet, secluded garden. All the staff are super friendly and very professional The room was squeaky clean with lovely views of the garden and fells. Delicious breakfast too.
Leaving this perfect spot.
Lovely, clean roon. Very nice staff. Lovely location with walks from the front door. Excellent cooked breakfast.
Liked everything
We had an amazing stay at Crow How. The location is unbeatable, close to Ambleside, Rydal and Grasmere but set back from the chaos. The room was very quiet, and the only sound we heard was an owl. Breakfast was superb and the place had an inviting feel. Thank you to the hosts for putting us up such late notice.
Beautiful traditional property in picturesque setting . Clean and comfortable .

There was nothing that we didn’t dislike The whole trip was fantastic especially to this area in the Lake District
The breakfast room was filled with natural light. The waitress was formally dressed and was very professional and caring. The bedroom was extremely spacious with a window and large ensuite. Very comfortable.
The steps but this is exactly to be expected it is an old guest house in very good condition.
Nice breakfast location great

The lady who was at breakfast on the first morning was quite sullen and non communicative. No welcome or smile. The lady who served us on the second day was lovely.

The staff were extremely friendly, the rooms were modern and clean, and it is in a great location - only a 5/10 minute walk to Ambleside town centre.
