This was by far the most up market of all the places we stayed. Stunning garden setting. Host fluent in English and could give us good advice. Bright large room.

Uphill was a daily challenge!

Le calme et la verdure

Lits confortables et logement au calme pour visiter le centre de Kandy. Bon petit déjeuner, des conseils pour les déplacements, et un joli jardin.

C’est préférable de prendre un tuk tuk pour rentrer le soir car ça grimpe, mais c’est le prix à payer pour être au calme.

The owner was very welcoming and the property is very clean. It’s away from the bustle of the busy city but close enough to reach the city easily. It was a very tranquil atmosphere in amongst the trees and birds, I really enjoyed my stay here.

I am so pleased that we chose Windy Ridge for our stay in Kandy. The location was great, far enough from the bustle of the city to be peaceful but close enough to access everything we needed. It was only a 20 minute downhill walk to the city. Our host Senaka was wonderful, he was very welcoming and gave us some great ideas for visiting Kandy. He arranged a wonderful tuk tuk driver and car driver Nuwan, who took us around Kandy as well as further afield. The Garden Room was a pleasant place to relax overlooking the beautiful gardens on the property. It was stylish, clean and comfortable. Mala cooked us delicious breakfasts as well as being available at the property for anything we needed. We appreciated Senaka’s bar and restaurant recommendation, Marinate, a short walk away with amazing views overlooking Kandy. We also witnessed a sound and light show there during a thunderstorm which was incredible. Everyone at Windy Ridge went out of their way to make sure our stay was as memorable as possible. Comfortable room and good balcony to sit on and watch the many birds. Nice breakfast.

The breakfast was very delicious and nutritious. One day I missed breakfast due to an excursion, and a staff member kindly reheated it for me in the evening — it was very sweet of her, thank you very much. The manager also kindly offered to show me around the city, and in a short time I was able to visit many attractions. It was also very good value for the price.

There were some ants when the window was left open. However, I believe this is normal for the area and not related to the hotel itself.

Falls Wäsche gewaschen werden möchte gibt es keinen Trockner. Die Wäsche war auch nach zwei Tagen nicht trocken, würde ich lieber wo anders mache.

בעל המקום לא הבן אדם הכי נחמד שפגשנו במדינה הזו. ובכלל הרבה פחות מתאמצים פה בשירות מאשר במקומות אחרים שהיינו. פעם ראשונה אחרי שבועיים בסרי לנקה שדרשו ממני את התשלום מראש ולא בצ'ק אאוט. את העודף הקטן השאיר לעצמו. על דלת החדר חוקי הבית, לגיטימי למעט כמה סעיפים מוזרים. בנוסף, ריח הנפתלין בכל החדר ועל המגבות, פשוט בלתי נסבל. מבינה את הצורך לטפל במזיקים ובעובש אבל יש דרכים יותר נעימות. ב6 וחצי בבוקר קמנו לקולות סוג של מואזין שנמשכו עד שיצאנו לעיר כשעתיים לאחר מכן חסר מקרר בחדר.

Lluny del caos de Kandy, però molt ben situat. Amb tuktuk arribes ràpid i de manera econòmica a tot arreu. L’allotjament és molt net i còmode. El personal és molt amable i ens ha ajudat amb el transport pel nostre següent desti.

シャワーのお湯が問題なく出て、部屋の冷房も快適でした。調度品も素敵でした。 ドライヤーを貸していただけたり、タオルを追加してくれたり、オーナーがとても親切でした。 元旦に泊まったら、新年の特別な朝食を出していただけて、スリランカの特別な体験になりました。

オーナーは夜にいなくなるので、用事は夕方までに済ませる必要がありました。

This is a great retreat a short distance from the city. The garden and the service were the two things that drew us back for a second night.

I only stayed one night but the owner was friendly and offered suggestions what I could do during my short stay. The room had everything you need and I wish I could have stayed longer to appreciate it more.

Schönes Zimmer, das Personal war sehr freundlich, die Danen waren sehr zurückhaltend. Schöner Blick aus dem Fenster bzw vom kleinen Balkon in den Garten. Der Gastgeber hat uns einen guten Fahrer organisiert.

Das Haus liegt direkt an einer viel befahrenen Straße, so dass es in den oberen Zimmer eher lauter ist, wenn das Fenster geöffnet ist. Der Gastgeber erschien uns speziell und ein wenig bevormundend. Auf die Frage nach einer Restaurantempfehlung erwiderte er belehrend in Sri Lanka wird abends kein rice and curry serviert/gegessen. Und morgens um 9:00 klopfte er an die Zimmertür, um uns mitzuteilen, dass das Frühstück fertig sei. Um 09:05 Uhr war das Frühstück bereits kalt. Als ich darum bat die Nudeln / das Dahl aufzuwärmen, hörte ich mir an, dass wir zu spät sein.

The host was such a kind man, he offered us some snacks the day we were leaving. He helped us with everything and the house is big, spacious and super clean!

Check out time was announced 10:30am However the manager helped extend it. No slippers, no toothbrush and toothpaste.

Excellent secluded property with a garden view balcony. We met nicest host Mr. senaka who actually is an amazing person who truly takes interest in his visitors and make their stay incredible. Super polite and honest family run property with a great breakfast customised to your preferences.

We were staying here during the cyclone and Senaka and his wife really looked after us. He kept us up to date with the news and checked we were ok. We felt safe! The house is spotless and comfortable.

It is a very steep walk down to the city but we got tuk tuks very easily from the property.

Clean, super comfortable bed, relaxing location away from the busy city, friendly, helpful, early communication made me feel welcome before I’d arrive, which was important to me on my first solo travel adventure.

Incredible. So good it’s hard to know where to start. The hotel itself is wonderfully designed. Built into the hillside, you enter at the top of the property and descend to the rooms. Grand Designs kinda vibes but super affordable. Senaka, his wonderful wife Nilakshi and staff Mala and Ukkuma made us feel so welcome. It’s incredible value. The big different being that this isn’t their sole source of income. It’s a passion project to meet people. This makes a HUGE difference to the experiences as a guest. The breakfasts are amazing. The rooms clean and comfy. They’re all from Kandy for generations, so know it all. They have some amazing stories and are genuinely good hearted people. I’ve sent two groups of friends to stay there since we did. I don’t know what better recommendation there is than that… You will remember this stay.

One of the best places in Kandy as of my experience for a quick tour around and a getaway. Friendly owner and nice surroundings, walking distance to Bahirawa kanda temple. Really worth for the price you pay.

This is an excellent home stay, overlooking Kandy from the hillside about 1km outside the centre of town. Kandy centre is walkable in 10-15 mins, or a cheap TukTuk. We were met by the owner and staff who gave us the warmest welcome. He was genuinely friendly and kind person, nothing is too much trouble. Our room was big, absolutely spotless, well appointed and had such a comfortable bed!. We stayed only two nights, it was very quiet and secluded, The breakfast was delicious, plentiful and excellent. Windy Ridge has a really relaxing atmosphere to explore Kandy. The owner and the staff are always smiling. Highly recommended Thankyou very much!

Windy Ridge Kandy is a beautiful property, very well maintained, with comfortable beds and great water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was tasty with fresh made juice and Sri Lankan breakfast foods. The hosts were very willing to help with requests and make recommendations.

The place is good value for money. Stay was quite comfortable. The owner was fantastic. He himself was present to administer the affairs. Breakfast was wonderful with cost-effective options. Highly Reccomended for the families to stay.

This was our second visit, love the place! Beautiful views and a peaceful environment with comfortable rooms. The owners are very helpful and the location is convenient.

This is one of the most beautiful accomodations we have stayed in. It is comfortable, super quiet and spacious. We felt instantly at home, and the land itself is luscious, like being in a jungle with so much bird life to watch. The owners live on-site in a separate home, so you feel the benefits of homeliness and privacy at the same time. The breakfast is delicious, and the views into Kandy’s jungle side are gorgeous. The bed and bathroom are super comfortable. The owners have thought of everything to make you feel at home.

インテリアがとても素敵にまとめられていて、古都キャンディの雰囲気も相まって、とっても居心地の良い空間でした。見た目ばかりの家具もしくは反対に機能的であればよい、という家具ではなく、主が使うために誂えたようなちょうどよい家具やバティック、照明は、一貫したセンスをお持ちの方なんだな、という印象でした。シャワーの水量も十分でした。朝食もホットサンドイッチと焼き立てのワッフルがとってもおいしかったです。子供たちもサンドイッチもワッフルもとっても美味しそうに食べていました。セナカさんに、朝食前に近くのSri Maha Bodhi Viharayaに参拝に伺いたい、と相談したところ、子連れだと歩いていくのは大変、ということですぐにトゥクトゥクを手配してくださったのも大変助かりました。朝靄の中でみるキャンディの街並みもとても幻想的で、忘れがたい景色になりました。

よくなかった点ではないのですが、チェックイン時間は18時半までです。事前にご連絡いただいていたにも関わらず、私のミスでチェックイン時間を見落としていたのですが、予めセナカさんと連絡をとっていたところ、ご厚意で20時まで待っていただき、大変ありがたかったです。チェックイン時間についても、事前連絡すれば相談に応じてもらえるのだと思います。遅れてついてからも、宿泊の施設利用について最大限便宜を図ってくださり、オーナーさんのお心遣いに感謝しています。

Host not friendship, not a nice guy. Room has many ants. Payment terms is accept credit card,and didn't need any extra charges. But when we pay by credit card. host said need to add 3.5%.

Great hotel. Very clean and the host and manager was very welcoming and gave a good introduction even recommending what we could see in the limited time we had.

Hotel molto carino, che mi ha ricordato una country house inglese. Camere molto comode e spaziose, gli arredamenti sono tenuti benissimo. Il personale è molto gentile e l’ho at mi ha aiutato nel preparare la colazione gluten free per mia moglie.

Buona la pulizia (forse la migliore trovata nei cinque alberghi che abbiamo visto in Sri Lanka) ma si può fare sicuramente di più; lontano dal centro ma con un buon ristorante vicino raggiungibile in pochi minuti a piedi.

Prima verblijf iets buiten het centrum maar wel nog op loopafstand te doen. Het ontbijt was lekker en uitgebreid! De kamer was schoon en goed onderhouden.

De medewerkers waren niet echt spraakzaam, in tegenstelling tot andere accomodaties in Sri Lanka. Daardoor was het niet echt een gezellig verblijf.

Struttura carina e pulita, proprietario molto gentile. Purtroppo siamo stati solo una notte e al mattino siamo andati via presto, per cui non abbiamo potuto assaggiare la colazione ma dall'odore sembrava ottima. Posizione fuori dal centro ma comoda, 10 minuti di camminata o tuk tuk.

The property is decorated tastefully, creating beautiful spaces to relax while planning your visit in Kandy. It is uphill and surrounded by a well kept, delightful garden. The room was clean, comfortable and with all the amenities one could expect. However, the best this little hotel has to offer is its owner. He is such a kind man, who took not only interest in our overall trip in Sri Lanka, but also provided very useful tips to navigate through Kandy during its busiest time of the year, the Perahera. Windy Ridge was calm, peaceful and our room was spacious and very clean. We were very warmly welcomed and were pleased to be in a quiet environement, far from the busy city yet close enough to walk there.

Il personale è gentilissimo e ti fa sentire in famiglia. La stanza è pulita e gli ambienti accoglienti. Colazione tipica abbondante.

La struttura è una casa privata, che si suddivide in 3 piani. Si arriva al piano superiore, vi è una spaziosa hall, al piano inferiore la cucina con una piccola sala per la cena e la colazione e alcune camere. Al piano terra altre camere con il giardino. La struttura è situata lontano dal centro, può essere un pro perché lontano dal caos, ma senza macchina o tuktuk non si può arrivare da nessuna parte. La nostra camera affacciava sul giardino, molto grande, spaziosa e pulita. Bagno discreto, nulla di grandioso. La cena e la colazione che ci hanno preparato era molto buona.

Il proprietario poco cordiale, siamo arrivati tardi per via del traffico, ovvero tra le 19:30 e le 20:00. Non ci ha aiutato con le valigie, ma ci ha chiesto di pagare subito senza nemmeno avere il tempo di sistemarci. Cosa tra l’altro mai capitata in 14 giorni di Sri Lanka in nessuna struttura. Abbiamo pagato e ci avrebbe dovuto dare il resto, ma non ce lo ha dato, glielo abbiamo dovuto chiedere dopo la cena, altrimenti se lo sarebbe tenuto. Avendo la nostra camera al piano terra c’erano da fare 2 rampe e mezzo di scale molto strette, noi avevamo le valigie molto grandi e pesanti, lui e nessun altro della struttura ci ha aiutato a portare giù le valigie. Anche la mattina quando siamo andate via nessuno ci ha aiutato a portarle su. È stato faticosissimo. Questo non ci è mai capitato in nessuna struttura, il personale delle diverse strutture provate ci ha sempre aiutato con gentilezza e cordialità. La camera non presenta la zanzariera, ce ne è una da montare nell’armadio, di quelle da campeggio, ovviamente nella stanza c’erano molte zanzare. La struttura non è vicina a nessun servizio come ristoranti o mini market.

Het is een rustige plek midden in een drukke stad. Het huis is mooi, mensen zijn heel aardig en het ontbijt is heerlijk. Alles is comfortabel. We zijn hier 2 nachten geweest en het voelde zo fijn.

Posizione un po' scomoda

Das Personal war super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sie haben sich regelmäßig nach meinem Wohlbefinden erkundigt, waren dabei aber niemals aufdringlich. Das Zimmer war sauber und ich hab super geschlafen. Und wenn ich in die Stadt wollte, hat man mir ein TukTuk für einen super Preis gerufen.

Close distance to the laundry service

Weird rules, felt like a child, who is being told by mom what not to do, which doors not to use, etc. Very weird welcome. They asked when are we coming, they knew the hour, but when we arrived the doors were closed and it also hard to find, as they do not instruct you about the gate, etc. Very early check out(10:30). We waited outside the room till 11:30 for our taxi, when they started to clean the room at 11. When I entered the room to use the toilet at 11:20, the cleaning lady was laying on the bed. Also we informed the owner about leaking sink and she answered in the way suggesting that it’s our fault….
