El desayuno es una vergüenza!! Hacen apropiación cultural con las negras y las disfrazan para partir fruta pero no sirven producto LOCAL ni colombiano. El café sabe HORRIBLE! El peor café que he bebido en mi vida. Increíble que tengan un café tan malo siendo un país cafetero con tan buenos cafés. El servicio al cliente en recepción es deplorable. Después de haber pasado 5 noches en Sofitel Calablanca y 5 más en este hotel, no nos han permitido usar la piscina después del check out hasta la salida para tomar nuestro vuelo. Ha sido la guinda del pastel.

Wow! From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, our 4 days/nights at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara was magnificent. Located within the Walled City, the hotel and the surrounding areas felt safe every day and night. Every staff member went out of their way to ensure that we were happy and comfortable. Every morning at breakfast we were greeted with smiles and coffee-thank you to Jesus Mira, Alaidis, and all the other Jardin breakfast staff. Our afternoons at the pool were very relaxing. Carlos, and all the other pool staff made sure we were comfortable and well fed! The grilled chicken lunch was scrumptious! On our final night, we ate dinner at Jardin. Luis Carlos had previously described the aged picanha to us so we had to try it. That steak and the legendary lomo al trapo were both delicious. Thank you to Luis Carlos, Leonardo, and Luis for making our last evening extra special. We’d also like to thank all the men and women at the spa for creating such a warm and relaxing experience for us. From the moment we made our appointments to the end of our spa visit, every detail was made perfect. Our therapists, Saydi and Ilena, provided perfect massages. Our stay was also enhanced by the expert attentiveness of the butler services. Any time we reached out for anything, Jeremy, Luis, Rudy, & Alejandro, made sure our questions and requests were answered. We’d also like to thank housekeeping for their daily and nightly services-especially Ana Karina, who left us a very nice note at the end of our stay. Today, upon departure, thank you to Pedro for assuring we got into our uber safely for our ride to the airport. All in all, the sparkling hotel grounds and amenities were top notch, our room and view were beautiful, and the pool/roof top bar were inviting. We loved our nightly sunsets! Overall, EVERYONE who works at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara did an amazing job at ensuring we had a magical stay! Thank you!

A genuinely magical experience. The hotel itself is visually stunning. A tranquil and rejuvenating environment. But the magic of this place lies in the staff, truly exceptional service and truly exceptional people. They made me feel so welcome and like I was coming home to family each time I walked into the building. The butler team: Alejandro, Jeremy, Rudy and Luis were just phenomenal. I felt so well taken care of and I have made a promise to myself that I will visit Cartagena and stay at the hotel every year. Amazing

Do not waste your hard-earned money booking Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena or using Expedia. We booked what was supposed to be a special anniversary trip in May for an August stay. Unfortunately, due to completely unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we had to cancel our plans in June—a full two months in advance of our arrival date. Despite giving them 60 days' notice, Expedia canceled our booking but completely refused to refund our money. Santa Clara Hotel was equally unhelpful and uncompromising, stubbornly refusing to issue a refund or work with us. Between Expedia and Santa Clara Cartagena, we lost over $3,000 of our vacation savings. Refusing to return over $3,000 for a cancellation made two full months in advance feels like nothing short of extortion. They kept thousands of dollars for a service they never provided, leaving us with zero flexibility or empathy during an already difficult situation. Save yourself the stress, heartbreak, and financial loss: Do not book Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena, and do not use Expedia. They will happily keep your money and offer zero customer support when life happens. Look elsewhere in Cartagena for a hotel that actually values its guests.

The location is magic. Inside old Convent of Santa Clara. Food is very good, but service not at the same level. Especially in the pool where they are distracted and not proactive to the clientele.

The food was good quality but lacked a bit of finesse. For such pricey food, my expectations are also high. Breakfast egg dishes are bland and flavorless. Lunch and dinner dishes are lukewarm. Fresh salad with option to add grilled chicken (refrigerated, salty, no flavor of a grill), was so disappointing. The pasta (cooked perfectly) had a bland sauce of mushrooms.

Great location and beautiful historic property. The pool and courtyard for breakfast are wonderful. Feels like a resort property. The food quality has changed a bit, the best food was the poolside bbq. The Jardín restaurant food has lost a bit of flavor and quality. The Clarisa salad with an addition of cold grilled chicken was very disappointing. The service was attentive and the crew members were very pleasant. The room was adequate, clean and comfortable. Slept like babies.

He leads by example and this is seen throughout your stay and work with the other butlers. Alejandro is one of his butlers and he is exceptional as well. He looks for ways to help whenever possible. Both of these gentlemen could write a book on how to be exceptional, humble, and always present. The Entire Butler Staff: I know Rudy and Alejandro operate as part of a larger team. And clearly, Rudy and Alejandro are well served by their team. Our stay was perfectly managed and needs perfectly catered to by this team. Jesus (Concierge): The Rudy + Jesus combo allow this hotel to live by a mantra of “where anything is possible.” Jesus helped us with literally everything we needed in and beyond the hotel. He also made sure our room was perfect and helped to coordinate our plans. Oriana (Server): I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Oriana. She was always on top of her service to us at breakfast. Every morning she provided excellent service and even when we spilled yogurt across the floor and later broke a glass, she made us feel like it was as simple as spilled milk. Final Thoughts I truly believe you could put Rudy, Alejandro, and Jesus in any hotel in the world and they would make it exceptional regardless of circumstances. The Sofitel Legend Santa Clara is more than just a place to sleep; it is a masterclass in hospitality. If you are traveling to Cartagena, do yourself a favor and book your stay here. We cannot wait to return!

On August 1, 2026, The Santa Clara (Sofitel Legend) hotel hosted my daughter’s wedding reception and pre-wedding events along with the numerous guests attending the full weekend of celebration. It was a resounding success!! My husband and I started planning the event about 15 months out without knowing any Spanish and as Americans who had never traveled to South America. We were able to visit once before the event (approximately 8 months in advance) and meet the staff in person and confirm the choices made. From the beginning, while still only meeting by phone, email and WhatsApp, the hotel leadership and staff quickly put my mind at ease with a very professional process. I never was in the dark about what I owed and when. This is especially important when planning a larger scale event. The hotel also worked hand in hand with our event planner and decorator, as well as with the numerous musical artists and extra vendors. I felt as though the hotel was a co-strategist in identifying and meeting our dreams and unique needs. The entire Santa Clara staff patiently worked with us and our guests (many of whom did not speak Spanish) to create a magical and effortless event. Our every dream came true!!! My daughter and her husband could not have been more happy with the results and their experience. The food was some of the best I have ever tasted in my life. Air conditioning worked incredibly well in the reception hall. Transportation coordinated with and by the hotel was flawless. The staff arranged tours for guests and also assisted with restaurant and Spa reservations and day time activity recommendations. Angie Palencia (our chief contact for coordination and weekend of activity) was one of the kindest and most emotionally intelligent service leaders I have ever had occasion to know. There were many other employees that I came to know by first name and, of course, the general manager in charge (who stepped in to help one guest with a quickly resolved room issue). Every single person serving guests was attentive and interested in the hotel’s reputation for hospitality. Wow - just wow. I will be back for pure fun to enjoy more of the pool and the Spa. We have family in Colombia now and I feel as though the Santa Clara is one of our Tennessee family’s homes now.

Im Hotel findet man in allen Ecken immer wieder neue Details. Zudem sollte man das Buch von Gabriel Garcia Marquez, welches im Hotel handelt, gelesen haben. Der Pool verleitet einem dazu, das Hotel gar nicht zu verlassen, trotzdem sollte man das unbedingt tun. Wenn man genügend Zeit hat, dann gibt es viel mehr als nur die Altstadt zu sehen (Islas del Rosario, Baru, Islas de San Bernardo, Totumo, La Popa, Fuerte San Fernando etc.).

Sowohl beim Check in als auch beim Check out wurden zusätzliche Kosten verrechnet. Schade - dachte dass die Buchung gilt.

Every time we’re in Cartagena, we look forward to staying here. The pool is hands down our favorite spot, and the service there is always amazing. Seeing Alex and the team is one of the best parts—they’re so welcoming, always remember us, and somehow make us feel like family. It’s those little things that keep us coming back every time.

We visit the Santa Clara at least once a year for a break. Overall, it’s a wonderful experience. One of our favorite experiences is breakfast. The selections are excellent and we enjoy being taken care of by Ingris, Aleidis and Vannesa. We have gotten to know them over our regular visits and they are a very important factor in making our visits so very special. The Santa Clara is a special place.

Por su estructura hace un calor terrible y no llega la brisa del mar. Nos quejamos a varias veces y no hicieron nada. Lamentable q un hotel que se vende como 5 estrellas tenga instalaciones tan viejas y tan mala atención. El carro de la foto estuvo por más de 24h al lado de la habitación. A pesar de que dijimos nunca fue retirado.

A true five star property in the heart of old town Cartagena, Columbia. We booked our stay with American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts were upgraded to a nice room. We also had an included free daily breakfast, which was very good with made to order dishes and a healthy selection of buffet items. I would like to acknowledge two people who went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience: Matteo and Karem. Both were at the front desk, and made sure that our stay was perfect. Would definitely stay here again.

It would be difficult to recognize everyone without unintentionally leaving someone out because the entire team was exceptional. We especially enjoyed interacting with Jeremy, Edison, Alejandro, Marco Antonio, Pedro, and Gabriel, who were always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. At Jardin Restaurant, Leonardo, Jorge, Maria, Claudia, Katherine, Clarabel, Alondra, and Oriana provided outstanding service and made every dining experience a pleasure. At 1621 Zharick and Jose were awesome! Truly, every member of the staff we encountered was fantastic and contributed to making our stay so memorable.

Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena Columbia, July 11-17, 2026 Location: Inside the walled city; convenient to walk to shops and restaurants. Overall, the stay was amazing. Atmosphere: Quaint historic luxurious architecture. The structure and layout create nostalgic ambience but very clean - no mold mildew or musty odor. The courtyard, lobby and walkways enhance the island feel of outdoors. Plenty of free glass bottled water; a water refill station; and icy cucumber-lime infused water in the lobby. Check-in: Was very smooth and welcoming. The entire staff was inviting, professional and well dressed so easily differentiated and recognizable. Rooms: Immaculate. Comfortable and cozy. Senora Edis was our housekeeper who works tirelessly and added nice touches to our room that we noticed. Bed and bedding was impeccably clean, rooms adequately spaced with drawers, closets and clothes hangers. (choice of pillows) Bathroom: Very clean with good lighting including a magnifying make up mirror. Also the hotel provided umbrellas in the rooms and the lobby. Cleanliness: The entire hotel was immaculately clean. If there was any flaw or lack it was addressed immediately to satisfaction. Value: Expensive intercontinental 5 star expectations with exceptional staff service. Noise level: amazingly NO disturbances in the room. The only noise was at night in the restaurant courtyard — loud, continuous high-pitched peeping sounds vocalized by tiny ground frogs but that’s nature so you cannot control it. I did not see them but surely heard them. They are part of Cartagena. Amenities: Whatever you need, they can provide. The bathroom had nice basic toiletries; the room had varieties of coffee and delicious chocolates. Plenty of water for the asking. Service: Every single staff member that we encountered was courteous, gracious and welcoming. Service: Breakfast Buffet: Señora Amada is a wonderfully pleasant accommodating waitress. We appreciated her attentiveness, bright smile and looked forward to dining in her station. Outstanding Butler Service: Señor Rudy Cuadro is the epitome of excellence extraordinaire! A perfect gentleman. He is very professional; personable, respectful; knowledgeable and well versed with superb multi- lingual communication skills; well mannered, resourceful and patient. He explained historical aspects of Columbia and walled city of Cartagena in textbook fashion. Amazing! Answering our many questions regarding cultural, recreational and leisure tourist pastimes. Upon request Sr. Rudy suggested several options of impressive safe excursions to experience. He booked exclusive reservations and outings for us including the Palenque tour. At Palenque we had an incredible fun time where we interacted, shopped, learned and enjoyed the Best food of our entire trip (besides the hotel breakfast buffet). Sr. Rudy scheduled our hotel spa appointment that we changed several times, accommodating every change without even a hint of annoyance. Sr. Rudy was perfect for us, the absolute best —-we could not have had any better synchronization. Thanks to Diego; Jeremy: Alejandro and all of the staff named and unnamed here. all of And many special thanks to Sr. Rudy for enhancing our 1st visit to Columbia to be enjoyable,easy and memorable.

We loved everything about our stay. The breakfast is absolutely and fantastic, especially having it in the courtyard. The location is perfect, right in the old town. But what was most outstanding was the service by the staff. Literally every member of staff, from the people at the pool to the butlers to the people serving breakfast. Wow! People remembered our name during the entire stay. Our favorite bar- El Coro- Julian, Diana, Sofia had a cake, flowers and a pretty sign for my mom and sang happy birthday fo her. A truly memorable experience. They were beyond generous and warm. Love this place. Can’t wait to be back

My stay at Sofitel Legend was truly memorable. The property itself is breathtaking — rich with history, beautifully restored, and impressive in every way. But what truly elevated my experience was the staff. The butler team — Rudy, Jeremy, and Alejandro — were warm, attentive, and consistently hospitable. The concierge team was also helpful, and one gentleman in particular (whose name I unfortunately didn’t get) stood out for his constant courtesy and thoughtful guidance every time I approached him. I want to give special recognition to Martha, who was welcoming and kind during my very first breakfast at the resort. Her warmth set the tone for the rest of my stay. And most importantly, Luis Carlos was exceptionally kind and thoughtful — the kind of service professional who becomes the standard by which all others are measured. His genuine care left a lasting impression. The doormen were exceptional as well, always ready to guide me whenever I had questions about navigating the area. Their professionalism and friendliness added an extra layer of comfort to my stay. However, my experience at the spa did not match the high level of service I received elsewhere in the hotel. I booked a leg massage, and although the masseuse was kind, she asked me to fully disrobe and then only massaged the backs of my legs. I’m not sure if it was a language barrier or a misunderstanding, but the service felt incomplete and uncomfortable. Because of that, I chose to cancel the birthday massage I had scheduled for the next day. I regularly get massages, and I didn’t want to risk starting my birthday with disappointment. Despite the spa experience, the majority of my stay was filled with exceptional hospitality and genuine warmth. Sofitel Legend is a stunning property with a remarkable team, and many of the staff members made my time there truly unforgettable.

Not only is the Sofitel Legend in Cartagena a beautiful, ideally located hotel with such attentive staff all around but also the butler team is absolutely amazing. They worked with me in advance to finalize my itinerary and made my big birthday so special. Based on my experience, I now I’m looking for a Sofitel for my trips to Italy and France. I highly recommend taking a day trip to the Sofitel Baru, scheduling a trip to Palenque via the hotel with a guide who lives in Palenque, and eating at 1621. I wish I had time and room in my belly to check out the downstairs bar. The outdoor bar has a great view! The pool is so relaxing and has umbrellas for every two chairs!! So necessary.

The hotel itself is stunning, full of history and charm, right in the heart of the beautiful old city of Cartagena. The location could not be better for exploring the vibrant streets, architecture, restaurants and atmosphere of Cartagena while still enjoying the calm and luxury of the property. The interior garden is simply magical. Having breakfast surrounded by tropical vegetation and birds singing in the morning was one of the highlights of the stay. The food was outstanding throughout our visit. The ceviche by the pool was absolutely delicious and perfectly paired with a cocktail while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and warm Caribbean weather. Our suite offered an incredible ocean view and every detail felt refined and luxurious. Most importantly, the staff was amazing from beginning to end. Warm, attentive, professional and genuinely welcoming, they made the experience even more memorable. A truly spectacular property that combines luxury, history, gastronomy and an unforgettable atmosphere. Definitely one of the most beautiful Sofitel experiences we’ve had.

A truly beautiful place, with superb service. Lovely visually. Lovely pool. The HUGE problem is that it is vastly overpriced for what you get. We checked into a majordomo room with ocean view. Tiny, really small - tiny bathroom, no place to store suitcases. When we arrived, the room had broken furniture and was dirty, after not respecting checkin time. All for $600 US a night, plus a mandatory 10% service fee added to the bill. They boosted us to a junior suite, which was great. Food was delicious, but hugely overpriced. The value is not here. Felt gauged and ripped off.

My husband and I returned to the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara for a quick stay after getting married there four years ago, and somehow the place still carries the same incredible magic that made our wedding feel so special in the first place. Having breakfast in the courtyard again was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Sitting under the trees with the birds, the old convent architecture surrounding you, it felt like being in garden of Eden. With the truly epic breakfast spread they have in front of you (plus anything else you might want to order from a waiter) this might genuinely be the best breakfast experience on Earth. It felt surreal to be back. What continues to make this hotel stand out is the level of care behind every detail. The staff clearly take enormous pride in what they do, and it shows everywhere. Walking through the doors feels less like checking into a hotel and more like stepping off the street into another world — quiet, romantic, and almost fairy tale-like. We also had dinner at Restaurant 1621, the hotel’s tasting menu restaurant, and it was perfect. Intimate, elegant, and every course felt beautifully thought out and immaculately prepared. One of those meals you keep talking about long after it’s over. The Santa Clara will always hold a special place in our hearts. We already can’t wait for our next visit to this magical city and this magical hotel.

We had a great time at this beautiful hotel. It is such a unique property with so many unique areas to explore. The entire staff was great, Ronald in the bar stood out as an example. He gave great recommendations and took time to tell us about the city. Great guy. We hope to go back.

I was recommended the breakfast buffet at this hotel and it did not disappoint! Although I wasn’t a guest, the buffet is open to the public, which is great because it was a highlight of my stay in Cartagena. Daniel and Vanessa were very professional and were a big part of what made my brief visit so wonderful. I am so glad I decided to pay this hotel a visit, as along with the delicious food the interior is magnificent. If the rooms are out of your budget you can still appreciate the ambiance through the breakfast. So glad I did!
