CODE - The Court, Edinburgh

The staff was incredible! When I got off the plane in Edinburgh, my phone was a brick. The staff worked with me to store my luggage while I fixed my phone. The staff was very patient with me, a very tired traveler. They also did a pretty good job at keeping everything clean.

The city had a major music festival going on, so people would come into the building at all times of the evening. Couldn't be helped.

I really really like the location! I get tired easily so I could go back 2-3 times a day and take a short break lol. The staff was so nice and cheerful :) I would recommend this hostel to my friends as well.

I wish the bathroom was cleaned every day, but it was not dirty just smelled a bit sometimes, but was not a big issue.

The Pods were neat and clean with all the privacy you need. Location was excellent.

The location is absolutely incredible—it is right in the heart of the city, making it super convenient to get anywhere. For a hostel of this type, the facilities are top-notch and very well-equipped. I also loved the historical background; knowing the building used to be a police station made the experience feel truly special and unique. Additionally, the communal lounge area is exceptionally comfortable and spotless.

Absolutely nothing! Everything was perfect, and I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my stay.

Die Matratze war leider durchgelegen..aber bisher hatte ich mit sowas noch nie wirklich Glück. Dennoch reichen die Pots aus zum hinlegen und Sachen abstellen. Man muss halt immer damit rechnen, das es in mehrbettzimmern Menschen gibt, die nur Rücksicht auf sich selbst nehmen und ihren Koffer in der Nacht 3 Stunden lang und in der Früh ,scheinbar versuchen ihren Koffer quer in den Spint zu treten. Dennoch..würde nochmals hierher kommen

bar di ingresso ottimo per la colazione, una buona atmosfera generale. I posti letto andavano bene ma le porte usb-c non funzionavano! Per fortuna erano comunque presenti delle usb normali. C'era molto silenzio e questo è stata una buona cosa.

Per quanto riguarda i bagni generalmente sono stati puliti, ma forse si può fare qualcosa in più con la frequenza in cui vengono lavati (ogni tanto li ho trovati sporchini...). Se al check-out lasciate la valigia in custodia da loro, sappiate che non avrete un vostro armadietto, ma sono tutti stipati assieme e non c'è un controllo accurato su quale bagaglio prenda un ospite piuttosto che un altro.

Great location, comfortable capsules, amazing activities

I really enjoyed my stay. My pod was super comfortable and surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room for my belongings either inside the pod or in the locker. Everything was very easy and well organised, with secure access codes, great privacy and a strong sense of security. The staff were excellent — friendly, young, attentive and always smiling. I also loved having the bar and lounge area on-site, where you could have breakfast, lunch or dinner, with some great discounts available. And the location was absolutely fantastic — truly top-notch!

Overall, I really liked everything about my stay, so there are only a few things I think could be improved. First, it would be great to be a little more flexible and accommodating for guests who need to check in earlier. Second, the cleanliness around the pods could be improved, especially in the areas between the mattress and the pod walls, where there was some dust and dirt, even though the sheets and bedding were perfectly clean. Finally, the shared room with all the pods was quite small for ten people, so having a little more space to move around and store personal belongings would make the experience even more comfortable. Also, I found the price quite high for three nights in September, especially considering that the accommodation was still a pod.

La propreté n’est pas impeccable dans les sanitaires mais rien de catastrophique non plus, en tous cas j’ai beaucoup vu les équipes de ménage et des efforts sont manifestement déployés à cet égard.

J’ai trouvé l’établissement très grand et très impersonnel. Je ne suis pas fan de cette ambiance usine. Le dortoir dans lequel j’étais était en sous-sol semi enterré, pas super agréable.

Le aree comuni, il cinema e la sala lettura. Meravigliosamente confortevole.

It is very central and the workers are lovely and helpful

Way to busy, way to loud. You can hear the outside noise, you can hear the people above you and below you. If you’re roomed next to the laundry you can hear that. I could join conversations from outside or anywhere that’s how loud it was. Very difficult to sleep. So busy, not a lot of room in the communal spaces, tiny tiny rooms with minimal storage, considering how large of a place it is you would think they could manage a little more storage.

Really like the location. It’s on the Royal mile but also not far from the train station and the new town. Was clean and the staff very friendly! Enjoyed the cider tasting with Dan and then the Friday pub quiz.

Their guest activities and social room are great!

The staff was not only efficient, but friendly and always willing to assist anyone that walked into their establishment. I can't stress enough how much they have made a potentially stressful occasion smooth and comfortable.

Lack of air circulation inside the cells, but The Code had that covered by providing small USB fans that you could check out at the front desk. So truly there was nothing I didn't like about my stay.

Está en un lugar inmejorable. Tienes todo lo que necesites en el hostel (pregunta todo lo que tienes disponible porque te sorprenderá). Los y las trabajadores son súper agradables e intentan ayudarte al máximo.

Yo dormí en The Court y los colchones no son especialmente cómodos, pero por lo demás, súper bien.

Central location to sightseeing and tours, amazing things to do to connect with other travellers, kitchen and lounge are clean and spacious and welcoming to use and overall clean facilities and friendly staff.

I've always had a negative perception of hostels. I've never stayed in one and I'm an older person so I'm a little weird about doing something like this at this point in my life because I've always stayed at hotels. The way it was set up was great -- restaurant downstairs, lots of activities if a guest wants to participate (I didn't because I didn't have any spare time), the location was prime, the staff was really helpful and friendly. There is laundry facilities available. I was in an all-female room. It went okay; everyone was respectful. There was just one incident I was frustrated with but it wasn't The Code's fault. I had to catch a really early flight and was already asleep. At 1 a.m., the guest next to me came in and instead of being very quiet and respectful of the other seven people sleeping, she was very loudly opening her bags, tearing open very loud food bags, etc. I figured she'd get settled and stop in a few minutes but she didn't. I didn't want to say anything, but I had to. I felt awkward about it. It further angered me because I was so tired, I slept through my alarm. None of the other guests were of this nature, so I think this was just a one-off. I'd definitely stay here again. They do have co-ed rooms if that's preferred for couples. It's a super clean facility and I never had to wait in line for anything, such as a shower or bathroom. This place gets booked up often and I can see why. Forgot to mention that there are lockers underneath your individual pod, as well as larger lockers against a wall in the same room. No need to lug a big backpack everywhere; it's safely stowed until you need it again.

A loud guest next to me that woke me up and kept me up on a night that was particularly important to get sleep. It should be obvious to guests, but maybe not. Maybe the staff upon check-in could emphasize a little more how sound carries within these rooms and that there should be maybe a "curfew" that is a little more reasonable. Coming in at 1 am and acting as if you're in you're own living room is a no-go in this situation.

Очень понравилось место, расположение в самом центре, веселый и приветливый персонал, есть кухня, зал с телевизором, бесплатно можно оставить на хранение багаж. Чисто. Единственное, всего две душевые на этаже, но для нас это не было проблемой, хотя бы одна всегда была свободна. В душевой играет классная музыка Просторные капсулы, внутри type c разъем для зарядки. Есть шкафчики, куда помещается большой чемодан.

Немного шумно, но это самый центр, и рядом ресторан, так что ожидаемо. Двери тоже довольно громкие. Меня это не беспокоило, но предупреждаю.

L'emplacement de l'auberge est exeptionnel, au pied de la cathédrale on est vraiment en plein coeur de la vieille ville. Les rideaux dans les lits permettent d'avoir une intimité et les espaces sont pensés pour que les voyageurs soient confortablement installés.

security camer should be installed at a minimum on entry and exit of the building. as a bag of special souvenirs was stolen from my room and there are no cameras to see the person who walked out the door with them and for general security highly recommend cameras for at least who is coming in and going out. This could help identify thieves and also people who have caused harm to other people inside the hostel.y Sould b be too great a difficulty to do this at this stage of technology and care for safety.

Amazing quality, cleanliness, location. Nicest hostel I've ever stayed in! The pod beds felt very private and safe. Bathrooms were clean and the showers were nice and hot with good water pressure.

I wish towels were provided free of charge but you have to rent them for 3 euro.

I made lots of friends during the free tours that they do, The community is amazing and the employees were so helpful. I loved the location it's right in the middle of everything, You can be in the train station and bus station like 8 min walking, very close to the principal monuments, museums, galleries and bars.

In my section was only 1 toilet to share with many rooms and 2 showers, at some points of the day was kinda busy. It was a misunderstanding with someone else who put his luggage into my locker and they ended up taking my luggage to the reception without noticing me.

Find a little bit of dust in the capsule corners, not critical. Small recommendations for improvements please add more shelves in the shower enclosure not enough space to put your own shampoo and shower gel with clean clothes.

My booking was for a girls room only but the booking.com back end switched me to mixed room without my knowledge despite paying extra for the female only, the manager was understanding and moved me to a female only room (had to still pay extra for that) and he gave me a breakfast on the house, I like the place but book directly with them to avoid what happened

I'm a regular at CoDE The Court and continue to be impressed by the overall quality of the facilities and the quality of sleep in the pods. Staff is enthusiastic and very helpful. I love the overall vibe as well as the central location (note: during Edinburgh Fringe, you're smack at the busiest spot in town).

There is a general scarcity of hooks. As noted in previous reviews, some bathrooms - especially the male ones on first floor - really need more hooks in the sink area, it's really uncomfortable if you cannot hang your towel and a few utensils. I also noted that in the Court Room, there are many free wall spaces while one gets a single hook, with minimal distance to the neighbours. If you have, say, a towel, t-shirt and pants to dry at the same time (e.g., due to a heavy rain), there is no way to accomplish this. The showers are starting to show some wear and tear (missing pieces); it isn't an issue yet but something to be watched. As keeping cost low is in everyone's interest, a note to management: you have lots of continental European visitors who don't mind at all communal showers, so you could have a mix of costly cubicles for shy people and low-cost communal showers next time you renovate!

It had a good vibe, bar downstairs looked good. Really good location.

Issue is, we were staying for the fringe, so I wouldn’t say it was worth 130 quid a night but for all places in Edinburgh the price rockets. I’ll stay if it was one night on a price for 40 quid a night (outside of the fringe) but I wouldn’t stay here for longer than a night or for the fringe again. I’ll just get a hotel. I know it’s technically dorms but it did look a lot better in the photos.

Everything at The Code was to a very high standard. The staff, the cleanliness, the amenities. Many opportunities for socializing and a great lounge downstairs with a complete kitchen and seating area.

Tout, L emplacement plein centre idéal, l accueil sympathique +(petit verre de bienvenue attention spécial au vu de mon après la grimpe à pied pour m'y rendre avec mes sacs lourds )et amabilité des membres du personnel, les infrastructures, les repas delicieux, les activités (dont la plupart est gratuites et mention spécial pour les personnes qui voyagent singles# du jamais vu incroyable...petit msg de bienvenue ' Nous savons que vous voyager single et nous avons des activités à vous proposer avec d autres personnes en groupe) repas sociaux, visite de la ville avc un guide, dégustation de whisky et ect.. salle détente lecture, cinema, ect. La propreté des locaux, la chambre avec les caspusles. J'ai recommandé à des amies rencontrées au court de mon séjour et qui y sont allées également et m ont remercient de cette bonne adresse. Allez y endroit super top et personnes super sympathiques J y retournerais avec un réel plaisir.

O hotel fica em uma excelente localização, você conseguirá ir andando para os principais pontos turísticos. Achei o quarto limpo e a cama confortável. Possui um locker dentro do quarto que dá pra guardar uma mochila grade. Possui cortina nas camas, que é estilo cápsula. Para carregar o celular é preciso usar o USB, não tem tomada perto da cama. O banheiro é fora do quarto mas é limpo. O atendimento do staff foi ótimo! Foram simpáticos e atenciosos com tudo que precisei. Existe uma cozinha compartilhada com todos os utensílios necessários para fazer um lanche. Uma informação importante é que quando você faz o checkout, caso precise guardar sua bolsa saiba que não tem custo para usar o luggage room mas é uma sala onde qualquer hospede pode entrar, deixar ou retirar a bolsa. Não existe controle pelos funcionários do hostel, contam apenas com as câmeras. Como era meu último dia em Edimburgo preferi evitar uma possível dor de cabeça e paguei para guardar as malas em outro lugar. De modo geral, valeu super a pena! Adorei a experiência e com certeza indico!

I just stayed 3 nights there and was perfect. I booked for the courtroom and everything was fine. Bed capsules for my are so confortables and privates. They gave a lockroom with electronic code so was so easy just leave my stuffs there. I really recommend.

Even though the bathroom is a shared space, it is very clean, and the employees are always respectful when they need to enter to clean it.

Everything was clean, bathroom on floor 1 was pristine from what I could tell when I used it; though one of the bathroom stall locks was broken.

Fantastic location, but it's so good that you occasionally heard the Fringe festival that was happening at the same time. Nothing that could be avoided and a worthy trade off for the location.

My first hostel experience as a 71 year old man. It was quiet and clean and unusual. In it's previous use was a court house, holding cells and jail. Excellent job on the remodel, reuse of a great space. The location is unbelievable.. 1a Parliament Square.

To reach the men's room at night it took 1 to 1 1/2 minutes walking time. Planing that trip is important.
