Location was great, very clean

The room looked like a new, everything was very clean and fresh. The bathroom was spacious with a good shower with instant hot water and great pressure. The bed was large and comfy, very clean. We liked the decorations in the hotel and everything just looked taken care of.

The bathroom was missing a toilet brush and any sockets. The hotel has probably one of the slowest lifts in the world, despite being just a couple of years old. The way to our room was pretty complicated, combination of the lift up and then taking the stairs down again.

Room was very comfortable, large bed and love the huge windows and tall ceiling. Love the spacious tiled bathroom. The glass doored closet was very cool. Cozy, welcoming lobby. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious.The continental had an abundant array of food. Location was great, a 3 minute walk to the train station, down the hill. Calton hill on the doorstep, for sunset and sunrise walks. Station 41 coffee a minute away, very good coffee, pastries, and staff. The Chinese noodle house a block away also very good food and staff. For a nice meal, the Cafe Royal is awesome. Really enjoyed the hotel.

La struttura è in posizione centrale, pulita e dotata di tutto il necessario. Lo staff è cordiale, gentile e disponibile nell’offrire le spiegazioni richieste.

Per arrivare alla struttura bisogna salire molte scale o camminare in salita. La stanza è molto piccola, il prezzo è in linea con quelli di altre strutture simili di Edimburgo ma come questi è sproporzionato.

Room 7 was great. Huge space, comfy bed, recently redone bathroom with a great shower. Nice view over the old churchyard. Staff was always warm and friendly when we came and went. The location was perfect being close to both the Old and New City and the bus and tram system to get anywhere, but on a quiet side street.

Staff may as well have been invisible. We were not acknowledged on entering or leaving the property during our stay although we had a decent check in and were shown to the room by a friendly receptionist. Housekeeping struggled to make eye contact never mind say good morning. Bed room furniture was not as advertised in the pictures and was low quality. Minimal toiletries available. No biscuits. No door on the wardrobe which wasn’t actually a wardrobe at all. Blind was not properly fitted in the bathroom.

Friendly and helpful staff. The room was beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. The location was very handy for most sites we wished to see.

No shelf in shower for soap and shampoo bottles. They had to sit on the shower floor. The towel warmer was not operational.

Central location, good size room with a large, well appointed bathroom

Water noise throughout the night from water pipes running through the room from above which really disrupted our sleep. Really disappointing as this spoiled what was otherwise a lovely room.

My room was great - easy to access from the elevator and plenty of room for me. The breakfast was ok - eggs were a little overdone for my eggs benedict, buffet had plenty of choices. OJ was delicious

Not hotels fault Google tried to take us up a steep old hill in the rain. I recommend from waverly station princes street exit, princes street to watrrloo, then to Carlton.

Cleanliness is not upto standard. Found a used towel in my bathroom upon check in. The toilet seat had a hair and the bedsheets did not look clean. Pillows are rock hard.

The location could not have been better! It’s on a relatively quiet street near the center of the downtown action.

The bed and pillows were quite firm. We got used to it, eventually. The bathroom sink was very small.

"J" rooms are only accessible via narrow, steep spiral staircase. Not easy with heavy luggage.

ubicacion perfecta. Nos movimos todos los dias a pie sin necesidad de utilizar transporte publico. la habitación, situada en la parte alta, estaba reformada y tenía todo lo necesario. No se oye ningun ruido. Muy limpia y aseada cada día. La ducha perfecta. Personal atento. Tienes que saber que las habitaciones de arriba no tienen ascensor pero para nosotros no fue un problema.

It is far from the center and was not worth what I paid. My private bathroom was outside my room, so it was not convenient. I would not have booked it if I had realized that.

La ubicación sin duda, al lado de Calton Hill y el personal muy amable.

Demasiado caro para las instalaciones y solo ir a dormir, es un edificio muy antiguo con distintos niveles para llegar a las habitaciones, el ascensor no siempre llega al nivel de tu habitación y para moverte con varias maletas es incómodo. He de decir, que la señora de recepción nos ayudó a llevarlas el día que llegamos, fue muy amable. El colchón cómodo, las almohadas demasiado duras.

Access to our room was a bit difficult with getting our luggage around a spiral staircase.

The location was quiet and convenient to Waverly Station— about a 10-minute walk up a moderate hill. The quiet aspect was especially nice during the Fringe festival. It was a 25-30 minute walk to the Edinburgh Castle, about 20 minutes to the Scottish National Gallery.

The beds were quite firm and the pillows way too plump for my taste.

Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral und doch sehr ruhig. Nähe zu Bahnhof, Air Link Bus und div. Sehenswürdigkeiten (Calton Hill, Royal Mile usw) ist perfekt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Unser Zimmer war klein, aber fein mit tollem Badezimmer, gemütliches Bett. Frühstück sehr gut, es muss niemand hungrig das Hotel verlassen.

Très bel hôtel, chambre confortable et joliment décorée. L'emplacement est idéal pour visiter Edimbourg. Très proche de la gare, de la vielle ville et du palais de Holyroodhouse.

No lift, so it is a climb with suitcases. Edinburgh is an expensive city, so expect to pay more for accommodation in general.

There are no lifts, anybody staying here will have baggage, there was a small middle aged lady at the reception that offered to carry the bags, of course I wouldn’t allow it. Then there is no room circulation or fan, never even to mention AC & the worst of all you cant sleep, the road is so loud, the windows shake and you hear every sound on the street. Woke up 20 times during the night, definitely not ideal for someone on a travel mission.

The location was great.

Booked this hotel for my elderly parents, they were given a room in the basement with a boarded window. No mention of this when booking. The room was small and had no air con. My parents were obviously disappointed when seeing the room and made a complaint at the front desk. They were told their comments would be sent to management. No offer of another room even though the hotel was not fully booked. I booked months in advance and for £350 expected much better.

We were upgraded to a suit

Posizione eccellente, a ridosso di Calton Hill, dietro Princess Street e a pochissimi minuti a piedi da High Street e Royal Mile (non abbiamo mai dovuto prendere i mezzi per andare e/o tornare dal centro, anche la sera tardi, ma su Princess Street ci sono moltissimi bus). Staff sempre disponibile e gentilissimo. Camera pulita, letto comodissimo, bagno al di sopra degli standard. In camera c'è un bollitore e una selezione di tè e caffè, comodissimo se la mattina si ha la sveglia prestissimo e non si ha tempo di fare colazione fuori.

Niente da dire, pienamente soddisfatta dal soggiorno.

The hotel is situated relatively close to the main train station in Edinburgh just up a gentle hill. The hotel itself was easy to find if you use google but otherwise it’s behind a restaurant so is difficult to find without help. Tradition oozes out of the place, the decor the whiskey bottles. The place is clean and tidy and the rooms are clean and comfortable with a fridge a great addition. So why only a 3 star you may ask. Firstly the breakfast £18.50 for a Scottish breakfast the whole experience was poor from 1 sausage 1 small rasher of bacon to toast left on counter to go cold and not even asked whether we wanted white or brown frustrating the cold selection was pretty empty too lack of choice. I expect the breakfast to be expensive in the hotel but “MP’s Bistro” was poor and even the signage was out of place with the rest of hotel (also what is with going outside to bring the food in? Scottish weather is notoriously wet, so why????). Then the reception/bar area twice sat there late evenings and the I assume night porter asked if some guests if they wanted a drink but we were totally ignored. I was keen to try one of the expensive specialty whiskey’s as it was our 35th wedding anniversary but it was never to be!!!! Would I go back yes but they do need to pull their wee socks up to meet the expectations the cost of the rooms command.

This quiet, clean, three-star hotel is well located in the centre of Edinburgh and offers the perfect balance of proximity to the city centre and distance from the crowds. It has good rooms, amenities and friendly staff. It's perhaps a little overpriced for the level of service you get.
