Very good
Good location, great room with a great view. Friendly staff.
All nice clean fab service
Lovely clean room, lovely view from the bay window, beds and pillows comfortable. Toiletries provided though don’t like shower curtain in bath. Would prefer a walk in shower as climbing over the bath is a real slip hazard. Furniture in room a little outdated but plenty of space in room to move around, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge is a real bonus would have liked a bottle of water. Staff obliging but food served from the bar at lunchtime was poor, jacket potatoe tiny with virtually no filling, leaves and 2 cherry tomatoes for about £12 a rip off and tasted old and greasy. Sandwiches not that great quality either.
Great location not far from shops and bars
The stay was very good, location wise was perfect and it was great. However 2 things that let the experience down for our trip were that the thermostat wasn't working to adjust the temperature (we didn't realise this until late at night) it got rather cold and we had our children with us 5, 6 year olds which made it a rather unpleasant and uncomfortable experience at night. The other issue we had was that there was a siren going off every other 10 minutes within the vicinity of the hotel (sounded like a fire alarm) and this continued on all throughout the night, which also made it very difficult to sleep.
Needs a refurb
Everything was perfect :)
Restaurants nearby close to utility arena
Very happy. Nice hotel. Great views of river.
Perfect stay!
Hotel was lovely, room was lovely, breakfast wasn't the best which was a little disappointing when everything else was so so good. Staff were incredible throughout though
Perfect with parking
Fit for purpose. Good location.
Great stay - club room had a fantastic view of the Tyne and was very spacious. Parking on site - nice and easy. We also had a couple of complementary drinks when we arrived and a nice full English breakfast before we left. Bathroom a little dated but other than that we had a wonderful time. Would recommend to all.
Kind and caring staff, beautiful location next to river; close to a lot of the lovely places to visit in New Castle. 10 mins from Central Station therefore close to metro, busses and train to anywhere you would like to venture if you want to. You can easily spend a couple of days around the walking distance anyways, nice scenery, nice restaurants and nice people. Glad we picked this hotel.
Arrived early but room available. Receptionist very friendly, efficient and informative. Comfortable room. Good choice for breakfast. Ideal for one night stay in the city within easy walking distance to centre.
Stayed several times. Staff are very helpful. Large, clean rooms but the furniture is dated. The views of the river are great. 10 minutes walk to the shops, restaurants and bars in Newcastle. Easy access from main roads and a well it car park.
.
Anniversary get away, couldn't have picked a better hotel, top notch. Great view of the Tyne and 2 of the 7 bridges, had dinner both nights and thoroughly enjoyed them. Hotel has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Like Newcastle and didn't feel strange.
Rooms have amazing views. Bathrooms need updating. Breakfast average. Prices of food very reasonable
We felt very comfortable with extremely good local staff looking after us. The breakfasts were excellent and personal treatment ie boiled eggs or omelettes enhanced the experience. We'd stay with you again !
Wonderful stay with helpful staff
Lovely hotel large room and very clean. Quiet area and lovely comfortable bed
Misleading photos online, unclean and uninviting room.
The room was lovely, however the curtains had no netting so you either closed the curtains or left them open.. lovely view of the river Tyne, only the sun was on the window all day making the room super hot. Netting would reduce the amount of heat pushed into the room. Parking required daily registration which seems a bit daft if you're staying several days, else there is a fine. Staff super firendly.
Everything was perfect. Definitely visit again next time
Great check in lovley room friendly staff fantastic location
Very welcoming and informative check-in, clean room, beautiful view, and 24-hour parking for only £12.50. I’ll definitely be back to this hotel!
Great hotel with super views of the River Tyne
Parking excellent, staff very friendly, gluten free meal options available, Staff pointed out the gluten free options at breakfast which was buffet style, all options had separate serving utensils I was concerned about possible cross contamination with gluten free and gluten options ie utensils swapped around etc however the GF bread was in a closed container. For peace of mind I would have been much happier to select my food options and preferred my breakfast to be plated up direct from the kitchen area. Evening meal and breakfast both delicious.
Friendly staff, great parking, lovely view of the Tyne from my bedroom, easy walking distance to centre/amenities
Good location and decent hotel for the price.
We always stay here when we come to Newcastle wouldn’t go anywhere else! It has everything we need for a relaxing stay. As soon as you walk in you feel at home. A warm welcome from reception. The restaurant food is lovely & a good sized person bar staff are helpful & friendly. The room is huge with a lovely water view spotless & everything you could want. Breakfast is plentiful & tasty. Very convenient & a nice short walk into town. Already booked for next year!
Excellent location and lovely staff. Great breakfast and exceptional value. Delighted with parking facilities and general ambience. Only negative was the evening meal which was very disappointing but will definitely return.
Could not fault our stay at all. The room was absolutely immaculate, clean and also lots of room. We only stayed over one night but it was brilliant. Very comfortable mattress/pillows, clean bathroom and good facilities in the room, specially the kettle! The staff are very friendly and helpful and shoutout to George, one of the cleaners, who was extremely polite and bubbly and he recommended a few things going on in Newcastle! He let us know that if we needed any extra towels or tea bags etc, he'd provide this. Overall, we had a lovely stay and we will definitely be back. Really good value for money and it's also so close to the train station/city centre etc
Excellent hotel with a great view the Tyne. I would happily stay here again
Hotel is amazing but please be very very careful when giving your bank details to hotel as receptionist think it’s ok to request to take money out of your account even though you have not authorised this DO NOT GIVE BANK DETAILS
Really nice view and hotel centrally located. Car parking very easy. However, there isn't any air conditioning (fan provided) and only tiny vents to open so really quite hot in the summer. Staff very friendly. Only one lift working which needs sorting out ASAP.
We stayed for a short break in Newcastle and were very pleased with our hotel stay
It was a good stay, although the bathroom needed some refreshing and repair, also the coffee supplies were not wnough for 2 people. The staff were lovely.
We booked the Copthorne Hotel as we had tickets to see Peter Kay at the Utilita Arena. We decided to turn it into a mini break staying at the hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was only a short walk from the arena and we also walked from the train station, again only a short walk. We had a lovely view of the River Tyne and two swivel chairs positioned in front of the window. It was such a good view that we spent each evening sitting in front of that window with a drink. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, comfy and reasonably clean, with a small fridge that you could stock yourself. There were tea/coffee making bits. We had a meal on the Saturday night at the hotel which was nice and I left my husband at the bar to enjoy the football. The room also had a hair dryer, fan, ironing board and iron. The water pressure was great so the shower was amazing. I would go back to this Hotel if I ever visit Newcastle again. It was just the perfect spot to walk to most destinations that we needed to get to and the room was a great space to relax in. Also if you are a runner take your running gear as it is a great place to enjoy a run along the river.
Love this hotel. Never had any issues before . This time had to report shower as water temp didnt work. Water was scalding and didnt turn down. Reported to reception who thanked me for bringing to their attention. Lovely clean and confortable rooms. Always sleep well. Staff are wonderful always smiling and helpful.
Warm welcome at reception. Very comfy room. Friendly staff. Car park part of same building.
All rooms with views of the river Tyne. Spacious foyer. Large restaurant with plenty of tables.
Pleasant one night stay in Newcastle. Handy for the railway station and lovely location on the water front. Very friendly welcome on reception, good food and service
Enjoyable stay for 2 nights. Staff at the desk were very friendly and accommodating throughout.
The air con wasn’t cold so the room was way too hot at night. Everything else was great. The staff very friendly and helpful
Great hotel in newcastles quayside. Nice river views. Everything was clean and how you'd expect it with friendly staff willing to help. Rooms are nice and big aswell! PARKING- give your reg at reception and then pay the cheaper rate at the machine also in reception.
Location is great.
Lovely stay ...Enjoyed sitting looking out at the river.
Firstly let me say the staff are helpful charming and willing. Brilliant performance from everyone met. However, let’s be straight up. This is NOT a 4* hotel or indeed anything like it. It’s outdated, shabby and in need of total renovation. No air conditioning on a night when it stayed in the mid 20s made it nigh on impossible to sleep and the whole place was absolutely roasting. To its credit it’s in a good location but if you are looking for modern chic and in great nick, look elsewhere.
Great location
Bar service slow & not enough staff breakfast just ok was waiting for hot food to be refilled more than once Beds comfy nice size rooms great towels & shower, fantastic view from room but rooms very rundown & in need of refurbishment Staff friendly
Great stay again.
Reception service excellent, event service mixed, room nice and clean/fresh, evening meal very poor quality (soggy fish and greasy chips)
Room fine, our bath and sink wouldn’t drain. Told receptionist and couldn’t move us, said they’d send someone over. Nothing fixed, told again on check out. Not acceptable for price per night
Hotel room was nice and comfortable tho the hairdryer is annoying I took my own last two previous stays Food is fantastic and love the 20% discount between 4 and 6pm But they waiting time is not good 1st day fab but 2nd day waited 40mins,
Handy for what we needed it for. Close to the quayside and the city centre.
Such a lovely hotel and perfect location along the river. Friendly service and always stay here for the location and cleanliness
The check in took less than 2 minutes which was perfect. One issue. Please do not keep messaging me before arrival requesting CC details as only someone stupid would transmit them via email Great staff good value and close to the city
Happy with our stay, only negative was cooked breakfast items were all lukewarm or cold
Lovely hotel with great staff.Would definitely stay again and recommend.
Great value for money and we loved the river view. The room were a bit tired, but they were clean, spacious and comfortable. We were served by two members of staff, both were extremely friendly and welcoming.
Excellent hotel in a fantastic location
Excellent night. Staff very friendly and accomoding. Room and breakfast were great.
Our receptionist was first class professional . Welcoming with a huge smile every time I think her name was spelt Eulia Nothing was too much trouble She gave us lots of advice and tips Would definitely stay again My room had a view of the river Just fab
Excellent room , very clean, good facilities. Good customer sevice from staff, very wecoming and friendly. Food quality not so good in bar. Had to ask for food to re reheated . Breakfast offered a good selection but let down by tepid coffee and hot chocolate from machines.
Staff are excellent, reception very helpful.
Beautiful views. Excellent design with car park behind and rooms facing the river. Friendly and helpful staff.
Reception staff were very friendly and chatty. Not in a hurry to get you moved on. Same when arrived as was when i left same young lady . Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable Second time here and will return. Highly recommend
Air conditioning isn’t great so it was quite warm but that was the only downside. Everything else was great.
Went for a weekend away, hotel nice and clean near all amenities, nice and quiet breakfast excellent
Lovely hotel. Check in is really easy. Rooms are large and spacious with everything you need. Large and extremely comfortable beds.will definitely stay again.
All good
Great Staff, nice quiet room. The hotel is looking tired and could benefit from some investment
View of the river from the hotel room is great. I'd recommend booking a room with a view of the river. You can relax and eat while watching the world go by. Very friendly staff. We even requested to check out late and they accommodated us for that.
Great value for money
Great quayside hotel - we stayed on a Sunday night and was good value with breakfast, a free drink and free parking included. Car park right beside the hotel (underneath in fact). We had a club room with great view over the Tyne. Stayed there to see Fontaines DC play in Exhibition park and hotel was an easy walk back through Newcastle city centre afterwards. Worked out cheaper than the Travelodge!
Booked for 1 Friday night - good prices - club room rates included a complimentary drink at the bar & full breakfast. Clean business style room - ensuite a little dated but clean. Excellent location overlooking the Tyne just up from the swing bridge & Tyne bridge. Had some food in the bar - good protions and good quality. On site car park - maybe a little tight on spaces by discounted rates & convenient. Staff great.
Check-in was smooth. Receptionist was lovely. Hotels a bit dated but comfortable and served it’s purpose for the overnight stay.
Check in was quick and easy. Our room was okay and seemed very clean, although we felt it could do with a good update. We couldn’t close the Juliette balcony door fully so we could hear traffic and kittiwakes during the night as our room was on the East end of the hotel. We enjoyed the bar in the evening. It did seem strange to receive a text and email on the morning of our departure asking us to select a check out time. We already knew the check out time and left well before the deadline, but the reminders made us feel like they were keen to get guests out as quickly as possible!
A great hotel at a great price. A couple of bugbears, there weren't enough plugs in reach of the bed. The AC wasn't great and if had been properly sweltering I think it would have struggled.
Room was lovely and the staff were very cheerful and helpful
The entrance is a bit Brutalist Architecture but the site is fabulous. Rooms really nice. Love the balvony - so I can have an open window! Yesssss!
The rooms are a little dated but they look over the river which is nice on a morning having a cuppa. The reception staff are not that helpful. We had a mix up with the parking and Nicola the reception Manager must have been having a bad day she was very reluctant to help and had a very bad attitude. The situation was resolved quite easily and there was no reason for her to make us feel stressed. We left feeling we may never stay there again as we have stayed in other hotels such as Crowne Plaza and The Vermont who have on-site parking and go the extra mile to make your stay exceptional.
Great location, with reduced parking rate of £12.50 for 24hrs for guests. Hotel has dated decor but rooms are large and clean. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in the room does not work (the panel said we had it set to 17 degrees as it weakly blew out warm air). The large windows cannot be opened and allow sun to stream in but no heat to escape. The room was stifling on arrival with no means to cool it other than a desk fan which helped a little. The beds are comfortable but the heat level in the room led to an uncomfortable night. We have stayed here a few times as it is good value for the location, but we would hesitate to stay during summer again unless we read that they have new air conditioning.
No negatives clean room comfy bed and good breakfast staff helpful and friendly
Good stay, staff were great, especially reception. Room wasn’t cleaned - there were 3 different tags to hang on the door dependent on what level of refresh you wanted. It wasn’t clear that the refresh meant the bed wouldn’t be made, simply clean towels. Bit disappointing to come back to an untouched room each day. Breakfast was average and for the price, expensive. Location good. Hotel next door has a great restaurant for evening meal.
This was my second stay at this hotel. I came back because I really liked it the first time! On arrival, our rooms were ready. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of taxis during our stay which was arranged by the staff. Our baggage was safely left in the luggage room on the day of our departure, which made it so much easier on our last day. If I had any gripe at all, it was in-room information. But this seems to be the same in most hotels these days. I miss having a menu, opening times, local sights etc in a booklet or folder. Using the TV and searching for stuff is just not the same. I wanted to know what time the fitness room was open. But this was not supplied without asking at reception. As I say, a minor gripe. I would most definitely stay at The Copthorne again.
Lovely welcome. Quiet room looks to be recently renovated in a calm palette, makes a change from over-designed colour-rich rooms elsewhere. All very soothing with FANTASTIC River view. Nice work Copthorne Hotels!
Our stay was brilliant .. As usual! , we were given a room on the 5th floor(, think it was an upgrade) many extras in the room, so clean and comfortable. The staff were lovely, helpful, pleasant and a credit to their workplace. Our 3rd time staying here …And it only gets better! Well Done Copthorne
Love a Sunday night in the toon
Great place to stay 5 minutes away from the station fantastic view of the river and surroundings Recommended
The staff were helpful and the room very nice. Convenient Parkjng attached to hotel by lift
River front. No A/C and windows only opened a fraction - not good on the hottest night of the year.
In desperate need of refurbishment. Our room was on the first floor. It was dull, dowdy and dated. Parking has to be paid for on arrival at a machine in the foyer after you’ve registered at reception. So you have to know when you want to leave as soon as you arrive. Didn’t eat or drink in the hotel, went to a neighbouring hotel instead that had much nicer decor. Would not stay here again.
Great location, room good but far too hot had a fan but it just blew hot air around, shower over bath, water pressure good but weak hair dryer, poor lighting, knowlegeable reception sraff, easy parking, friendly breakfast staff.
Lovely hotel in a great location
It has been well redecorated, beds comfortable, it was also quiet. There are still bits of the hotel looking tired, the bathroom tiles, doors etc are an example. However it was spotless and sparkling. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It ticked all the boxes we needed for a nights stay. Definitely felt it was good value for the price we paid and for short stays I would stay there again. We like the location being near the river and within easy walking distance of the town and there is plenty of parking.
