Lovely spacious room, with great amenities. Everything very clean and staff polite and friendly.
Very friendly staff, good breakfast and a very nice room
Beautiful hotel and our suite was amazing
We enjoyed it very much .but was expensive as we had to pay more for. Changing from Saturday to Friday .then parking on top . Could not fault the staff or accommodation
Excellent stay got to check in very early. Nice modern room comfy bed and pillows
Ive stayed at the hotel du vin before and loved it, but this time was a different story, perhaps because I had a dog with me? Receptionist unfriendly and even ignored me when I asked if the upgrade lottery had any dog friendly rooms. The room itself had dust on every surface including thick grey dust on the ornaments very high up, gunk on the soap dispenser and just generally the bathroom didn't feel clean, hairs in the bath etc. I smiled and said hello to staff who met my eye but didn't even smile back. No one came to collect my room service hanger that I put out at 9pm (I couldn't go to breakfast in the dining room because of the dog) and when I went to ask about my options on discovering the hanger I was just met with a shrug, no apology, and was told I could purchase breakfast "if I wanted". Really disappointing. I love that the hotel du vin welcomes dogs for a fee, but I was also a bit surprised that the dog bed provided was absolutely covered in dog hair from previous pooches that went all over the floor when it was chucked down as well.
Courtyard beautiful. Walking to the train is a little off the beaten path - but the area around the hotel is beautiful
Lovely place to stay for the Quayside or Ouseburn areas. Staff are always friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Shout out to Yassine on reception for his warm welcome, and for sorting us out with a lovely, quiet room. We'll be back
Stayed on the 4th floor in one of the rooms with the tub on the second floor. Really enjoyed our time. Luckily, on a hot day, our room had a Dyson A/C, so helpful for us. Everyone we talked to, from the front desk, to the bartenders, to the wait staff in the restaurant, were friendly and easy to talk to. Our second stay at Hotel du Vin, and we'll definitely be coming back for more stays.
Excellent hotel. Very clean, comfortable, high specification. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast. Overall super stay.
Check in was odd, due to the monitors on reception you can't see the person talking to you. It's not a good welcome being talked to by a black box!
Beautiful and comfortable room with lovely bathroom. Very clean and quiet
Fantastic hotel
Lovely two night city break in Newcastle. Hotel was lovely as was our room. Great shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Located a few minutes walk away from the quayside. Highly recommend.
Excellent all round. A friendly welcome from the reception staff and knowledgeable information about the area. A nice room with soft furnishings, large warm bathroom and comfortable bed. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Very nicely appointed hotel with an excellent dining room. However, shower and bath arrangement represent a severe safety hazard; safety hand holds must be installed. It is recommended that anyone who is even the slightest bit infirm or has even minor balance issues not stay at this hotel.
Lovely welcome to hotel du vin, we stayed on the night of our wedding and were blown away by the complimentary upgrade we were given, the room and extra touches were fabulous.
Lovely stay at Hotel Du Vin, Newcastle.
Loved the heated floor in the bathroom
The room on floor 1 was very noisy.due to traffic! It was as if our windows were open it was so loud. Other than that the room was excellent. Some wait staff were rather “snooty”. Breakfast was grossly over priced @ £24! Parking is very limited, we had to park in a metered area for 1.5 days
We had a lovely couple of nights in the hotel The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean and comfortable Although it is situated about 25 mins walk from the centre we found 2 great pubs nearby.
Lovely space and great view
Lovely accommodation
It was fine, not exemplary. Some staff seemed a little fed up and lacklustre. Service seemed to be an effort for some. Others were really good. The chap who seated us for breakfast and then was serving drinks in the lounge late morning was brilliant, cheerful and attentive. The room was ok if a little tired. The split of sink and bath at one end of the bedroom separated from the WC was odd and the low windows meant having to keep curtains closed as faced either shower or bath. Odd layout. A few minor cleanliness issues in the room but nothing too bad.
Great place to stay, would definitely stay again
It was a good hotel, comfortable and quiet, and nice to have a tub in the room.
Lovely hotel in great location near the quayside. Staff very helpful and bar relaxing to get a drink in. Room was spacious and shower great - however, it was a bit tired and needs a refresh, the bed was a bit firm as well.
Check -in was slow, as we had a dog, and they said they did not know about it, and should have been told in advance. (I was not asked; I booked via hotels.com., but had checked that the hotel was pet-friendly.) Eventually found us a room. When we arrived in room, discovered that it had an over-bath shower. My husband cannot cope with this, as he has mobility problems. Back to reception - we were allocated another room with a walk-in shower with no difficulty -staff member was very pleasant about it. Bar staff were pleasant and friendly. The room was warm and comfortable. The bed, too, was comfortable and room well soundproofed. Apart from the charge of £25 per night for our dog (a miniature poodle, which does not shed), our stay was very pleasant and the staff accommodating.
Double bath setup with double showers
Great place as stayed in on of the suite looking over the water, check was quick despite a couple of issues but resolved quick. Parking charged at £15.00 for onsite parking which I always think should be included. Suite was excellent, we had dinner and breakfast which was fresh and prompt
Excellent
Bridge view suite, room smelt awful on entering. The room was next to a very busty road, so noisy. Oney hotel I've ever stayed in where you have to pay to use the hotels umbrella! Unbelievable Parking is very limited and not good...
it had all facilities expected of a good hotel
JUST INCREDIBLE! Amazing service amazing room
Cannot fault our stay. Staff, particularly Jack at the bar were absolutely amazing! So friendly, couldn’t be more helpful, with a smile on their face even right at the end of the shift. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here next time we visit Newcastle. Room was clean, well proportioned and tastefully decorated. Brilliant for the money we paid.
Our second stay at this hotel and we were not disappointed. Lovely welcome and a surprise upgrade
.
Lovely hotel. Great staff. Affordable price. What’s not to love?
Love this place amazing hotel & bistro
Lovely comfortable room - with a beautiful shower and a bathtub. Note you get coffee Nespresso machine and tea (hidden below the tv!) We had a view onto the Tyne with the city in the background.
Fairly unsatisfactory stay for a supposedly high end hotel. Definitely not value for money.
I can't fault any of the team here - they were very friendly and helpful. However, our room could really have done with a bit of TLC - thick dust in the corners, which had obviously collected over time, as well as a few chips and stains on the furniture. A good stay but it could have been better.
Great hotel, great location and lovely friendly staff.
Awesome hotel, but it gets only three stars as the internet was down the entire time of our stay, including public spaces.
Large party in the hotel whilst I stayed. I couldn’t hear myself think. Parking was very limited and the hotel needs updating. The cleaners do a good job with what they have.
Excellent service from the staff, one slightly less friendly waitress at breakfast but it didn’t let down how great it was on the whole. The front desk folks were VERY helpful and accommodating. We were spontaneously upgraded rooms, and it was a spectacular room indeed. Very comfy bed and great air conditioning. We would definitely return, one of the best in Newcastle for a city break!
Lovely hotel. Service, food and ambience all great. We were given what appeared to be a disability access room which we hadn’t asked for but it was fine. We would stay here again.
We had the bridge view suite. Fantastic room.
Fantastic hotel
The room we were in was slightly tired (Springfield) and the corridors are equally tired. It’s a little further out than anticipated, the noise from the adjacent room kept us awake. They were running a bath at 4.30am and it was very noisy. The staff were excellent, the bar area is lovely and breakfast was first rate.
Good boutique hotel catering for the upper end of customers. Fantastic rooms with a bath in the room. Ad great furniture and fireplace. This is a place you want to go to if you don’t want a run of the mill experience. It’s not far from Newcastle quayside
Unfortunately we couldn't make the most of this lovely hotel because we were out and about nearby but it was ideally located for where we needed to be. We had to park up and check in way too early for a room to be ready for us but this was no problem for the very friendly and accommodating staff and when we arrived back at the hotel late in the day a room had been allocated to us and our luggage had kindly been taken to it. We'll return to do the hotel justice in thd not too distant future.
Great time at the Hotel which is just outside the city centre - about a fifteen minute walk by the river and quayside. The hotel is also well situated for visits to the biscuit factory and ouseburn. Hotel was clean and friendly - very nice bistro - staff very professional and helpful.
We were not informed that the restaurant was closed for a private function when we booked the hotel and was not mentioned when we checked in. We only found out when we went to eat. Room service had one vegan option so ended up ordering in to eat.
No elevators. Hauled luggage 3 flights of stairs. No help offered. Claims to have free parking. That’s only very limited and you have to be there first. We had to pay and haul our stuff up cobbled streets! However, room was amazing!!!!! Food was great! Can’t say enough good about the suite!
Love this hotel, the different rooms and the staff are brilliant and helpful, it makes it a special treat. The only downside is the parking fir such a large hotel the parking facilities are very limited.
Stylish, comfortable and a beautiful setting. What more do you need
Amazing staff in a great location, only issue I found was no lift and we had 3 cases.
Lovely place to stay, staff are very welcoming and friendly. Loved the room we stayed in with free standing bath and comfy bed. Only issue for me was the dustiness of the room. We will definitely be back again to stay and dine.
Absolutely LOVE this hotel!! Stayed here quite a few times already and every time my stay is fantastic. The rooms is very unique and beautifully decorated , amazing beds and always a bath that’s a statement- classy. The staff , especially Jonathan ( General Manager) , is so incredibly welcoming and no request is too much. By far the best hotel in Newcastle!
The stayed at this hotel many times before five years ago. I was looking forward to my stay but unfortunately standards a have slipped greatly. Splashes to tooth paste on the bathroom mirror, marks on the laps and hand prints on the light switches and windowsill. I found alot of hair that wasnt mine. Glassesin the room had dust on and unclean. Even the hall way carpet was well dirty. I will not be staying again. Great shame!
Clean comfortable hotel, modern with vintage touches throughout. Outstanding service from the front desk (Rachel was wonderful) bar and wait staff in the restaurant. Loved the area, a short walk to the Quay and the funky Ouseburn area.
Lovely room and would stay again. Would love better pillows and more of them as only one each each and they were so thin.
Wonderful setting in great former industrial building renovation with views over the Tyne. Far enough away from centre of town to be quiet, but still walkable to get to the centre.
It was a one night stay on business I’ve stayed at this hotel 3 times before it is high on service, very friendly offering good vslue
Amazing room, we had one of the junior suites for our stay. One disappointing aspect was we’d decided to have the taster menu only to be told this needed to be pre-ordered but we couldn’t find any information on the menu to support this. Other than that fabulous food and wine during our evening meal in the bistro and breakfast was excellent too.
Nice stay in a lovely hotel , clean and tidy, staff were great.
Stunning building, stylish interiors, friendly staff & close to one of the best pubs in Newcastle!
Incredible all round. I booked a junior suite, it was for my anniversary. I notified the staff and they really were exceptional making us feel special with a beautiful room, some Lindt chocolates and free cocktails. Everyone was so engaging, especially Jonathan who greeted us and checked us in. Stunning hotel, great location, beautiful rooms, fantastic staff. What more could you want! I will be back :) thanks
We had a (modestly priced) upgrade and our room was delightful with a lavatory on the same floor as the bed and a beautiful Victorian bath and excellent rain shower in a huge cabinet on the gallery. We particularly like the decor throughout the hotel and were impressed by the breakfast. I imagine the central courtyard would be very pleasant in summer.
Great experience yet again. Great location, welcoming staff and everything you'll need.
We felt the room was very average for the price paid. The service at breakfast this morning was poor. Service very slow. Waited 30 mins for a cup of coffee before getting my own from the coffee machine and waited 30 mins before breakfast order was taken. Clearly not enough staff to cater for the demand. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.
Brilliant staff went out of their way to solve a couple of snags
Stayed in this hotel a lot it is looking tied and needs a revamp.
Everything, perfect stay as always, cant praise staff enough.
The rooms are really lovely and beds are comfortable, it's a nice place to stay and a unique experience with the double level bathrooms with standing bath. Downsides are the bath wasn't totally clean and had black stuff in it, and there was a lot of noise being close to the entry/stairs. Parking is also very limited and not monitored which isn't included on the listing. There is street parking at cost and with time limits around the corner but the area isn't great for this, the staff did try to alleviate concerns but came across as quite condescending. I wouldn't bring a car here if at all possible. The service in the bar was a bit slow but was very good, staff were attentive and quick to sort things out. It's a good night for a luxurious stay.
This was a perfect quiet spot of 48hrs work in Newcastle. Easy going professional staff in a classy but down to earth environment. I’d go again.
Never ever disappointed when staying here. Staff hotel and rooms are always superb.
Lovely hotel; we had a really nice and large room. The dinner we had was excellent, as was breakfast next morning. Lovely place and would be more than happy to stay again.
Celebratory night away following Champagne Afternoon Tea at the hotel, Views from the bedroom of the Tyne were breathtaking Check in managed efficiently Service by friendly and efficient staff in Bistro was very good. Well organised and quickly served breakfast Our only problem was the lack of parking nearby largely due to it being a converted industrial building
Check in was easy, and staff friendly. Lounge/bar area was very comfortable and relaxing to sit and have a drink. The room was amazing, looked very impressive and very clean and comfortable.
Great way to end a busy day. Lovely, comfortable room to relax in before a great nights sleep.
We really enjoyed our stay.
Have no complaints at all. Great value. Found hotel unique and interesting design and layout. Clean and comfortable. Both meals we had were very good.
Beautiful conversion & repurposing of an old building in the Hotel du Vin individual style, particularly liked the courtyard and open air eating/ drinking option. Bar is pleasant with great cocktails. Room was fine but could do with updating soft furnishing…. toilet didn’t work well & broke on final morning.
Lovely bedrooms and unique general decor. Friendly and helpful staff. A very luxurious feel but it was not alienating. Very good quality breakfast.
Brilliant Hotel, Brilliant Staff. Second visit this year.
I picked this hotel purely on the reviews on Hotels.com and wasn't disappointed. We arrived about 12 noon and were given an early check-in (rather than 3pm). Car parking on site is limited, but there's plenty of other options nearby. Room was exactly as described / pictured on the website. We only ate breakfast at the hotel which was excellent. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Amazing rooms, amazing food, fantastic hotel will definitely be back
Quirky room with a shower room and bath but the bed was so so uncomfortable. The lighting in the room was non-existent. Even the bathroom areas were extremely dim. Location is fine, however, parking is limited so parked 'illegally' in a Sports Club carpark with a risk of being clamped as there was no other parking around nearby. Evening meal was ok, but choices on the menu were limited unless you like steak or fish - there was only one chicken option AND all extremely expensive
Lovely room and the dog was made specially welcome
The food, the staff and the room
1st Bedroom was amazing…had a roll top bath in the bedroom&a huge shower in the bathroom…a wee bottle of champagne was chilling with a hand written postcard for my up coming birthday which was so touching…unfortunately it was really noisy as it was so near the carriageway.even with the windows&blinds closed..a lot of sirens & traffic constantly..next day got moved to another lovely room…I had dbb both nights…1st night French onion soup was superb, less cheese in it would have been better tho..next followed the hamburger&fries…again too much cheese…delicious tho…portions are big so couldn’t manage it all…breakfast had a great choice of hot&cold food…2nd night had the onion Garlic tart with fries..the tart needed reheated as it was Luke warm…felt it sat waiting on the roasting hot fries…then lemon torte&raspberry sorbet…the tart was bland the sorbet was lovely & pungent….housekeeping needs to pay attention to stained pillows&quilts…not a nice thing to see when stripping the beds to help housekeeping…friendly hard working staff …they all made me feel very welcome&looked after me well…I had a lovely restful respite break…at their beautiful hotel…1st time at a du vin hotel…the toiletries are a lovely touch…well done Newcastle …that’s my honest review…
Clean and tidy rooms. Convenient location for town. The hotel lets itself down though by simply not having enough staff to justify the cost. Restaurant service in the evening is pedestrian, bar service so slow the customer would be quicker nipping down the road to the nearest pub and bringing a drink back. Breakfast service OK but too casual for the cost. The actual staff themselves are fine and probably doing the best they can but when a hotel sets itself up as being a cut above the rest it needs to back it up with first class service - the hotel fails in this regard.
Lovely hotel - great rooms and friendly staff.
This was a wonderful break to the Hotel and service was outstanding.
Great hotel. Fab room. Brilliant breakfast.
Stunning hotel with great staff. Will be coming back
Chef was awful. Hotel tired. Didn’t feel very clean. Staff not well trained, perhaps Hilton level but nothing special.
