Fabulous hotel in historic building! Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Super comfy and cute. Plenty of parking lots nearby if you don’t want to pay for the valet.
Great location, close to train station and lots of restaurants, bars, things to do. Friendly staff and the $15/day credit was a great bonus! They gave us a complimentary late checkout as our train wasn’t until later in the day and also held our luggage for us.
Wish the adjoined restaurant/bar had more availability but don’t know if that’s technically part of the hotel.
The building, decor and staff were all exceptional and unique.
The beds are comfortable, the staff were extremely helpful and the location is excellent.
The toilet was the noisiest thing I’ve experienced in a long time and the water pressure in the shower was poor.
It’s quirky, clean, and great staff.
Nothing
Room was very large, staff were extremely accommodating and polite. Hotel is clean and very well situated with good transport links. The lounge area in the foyer is really nice and I liked that the $15 complimentary spend I had could be used at the 'mini mart' at reception.
You do have to request a fridge for your room which I found a little irritating. Only two elevators which means you can often be waiting for one to arrive.
location ws excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. Room was perfect.
breakfast was ok,
Great location, it beats everything. Also great price. Really close to downtown and all the things. Very silent and quite. Large rooms. Stays here for the romantic trip with my wife and it was a good choice for such kind of trips.
Valet parking 55 per night. This is mostly forced as there are cheaper places to park you car but with more security risk. Parking on the fresh air is a joke I would say. Also inconsistency in presentation. Weird thing with credits, breakfast it not that good.
Overall Excellent
Nothing Everything perfect
great breakfast! super fun decor. clean and comfortable.
location was okay
The hotel's historic character is amazing. It felt like arriving at a hotel from a century ago that is maintained with modern standards. Attention was paid to every detail—from the elevators to the rooms. The staff was very friendly. The underground parking was very convenient, even though the hotel is located in the city center.
Loved the comfort and decor of entire facility. Plus, the walk ability was incredible.
The restaurant was closed for dinner on Sundays.
Las instalaciones
Fun vibe throughout the hotel, with lots of good options, and lots to do nearby.
Would've loved breakfast to be included.

Area reception, poca privacy
very comfortable bed, spacious quiet room
recepion area is a little tacky - off sale beers on display shelf ?? Staff were always great. room clean, could have had I little more effort then just a bed change
We loved the central location and the how helpful the checkin staff were in making sure we had adjoining rooms. We also loved the whimsical decor.
Huge rooms.
The property was fine. I will never stay in downtown Portland again if I can avoid it. Other neighborhoods were great but downtown needs help.
Convenient situation downtown. Fancy decoration at each level. Great rooms. Staff very friendly. Super breakfast.
American breakfast was awesome (but the same every day)
We had an event at Pioneer Square and the hotel was a perfect location & safe walk. Also near St Honore Bakery for coffee & pastries and the beautiful late night Abigail Hall bar.
Tvs didn't work well
Nice decore, spacious room, great staff. We had a few problems, but they were resolved quickly
The bedding on the sleeper sofa was dirty, really dirty. The stuff brought clean bedding quickly. Faucets in the bathroom were old and hard to use. When I dropped an earphone, I looked for it under the bed and nightstand. I found my earphone, a couple of bar wrappers and a condom wrapper 😏
Location and the room!
None really
Lovely room. Comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff with good local recommendations
Shame the bar was closed during our stay
Breakfast, towel and linen service
El personal muy amable, un lobby lindo y desayuno ok. Podría tener mejor desayuno, al menos pan y queso para un sanduche.
10/10 for everything, very comfortable bed and room, excellent and helpful staff, lovely breakfast, great location
Parking lot it’s little expensive
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The style of decor was fun and unique.
The room was not as clean as I'd like. Multiple stains on walls, cups in bathroom had dust and hair on top. On the shower ledge there was a plastic shaver cap left.
The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. The decor created a unique ambiance. The staff was very professional and friendly.
The double destination charge of $30.00 for each night.
The rooms are beautiful, with high ceilings and a sense of spaciousness. Our King Suite was a perfect space. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Plus, it’s a great value.
I stayed at this hotel with several of my coworkers for eight (8) weeks. Upon checking in (and during multiple visits to the front desk), I politely informed hotel front desk staff (including the Office Manager) that I'd be receiving mail at the hotel, and to please inform me immediately when I do, as most of my mail is time sensitive. The front desk failed to inform me multiple times, and they simply allowed my mail to accumulate without informing me. On June 17th, I received a call from my bank regarding some important time-sensitive documents that they had sent via FedEx overnight delivery. As it turned out, my FedEx parcel had been delivered to the hotel front desk six (6) days prior, on June 11th!!!!! Another time, when I retrieved six (6) pieces of my mail (which had accumulated at the front desk over the span of approximately one week) a front desk employee actually gave me a FedEx parcel that was addressed to one of my coworkers! (After the mix-up was discovered, I immediately returned the parcel to the front desk.) I'm deeply disappointed with the poor communication skills and blatant indifference of the hotel front desk employees! Another issue I had during my stay was discovering that mold had accumulated in the tissue box holder located next to my bathroom sink. As soon as I discovered the mold, I immediately brought my tissue box holder to the front desk. A front desk employee apologized and told me that a new one would be delivered to my room, which never happened. I brought this to the attention to my coworkers, some of whom later told me that they also discovered mold inside their tissue box holder in their rooms. Also, there is no guest laundry (washers or dryers) at this hotel. For these reasons, I will never stay at this hotel ever again.
I came solo in April 2026 and recieved a warm welcome from staff. This hotel is situated close to the downtown area of Portland. The hotel itslef was super clean and quirky decorated. It was very welcoming and felt cozy. Such a great find. My room was impeccably clean and vibrant. I will say I think my room was a connecting room for families. So....I had the occasional door rattle of other guests arriving and trying to open the connecting door to figure out what it was. Not the hotels fault at all. Just be mindful if you book the bougie rooms that it may connect to other rooms. Perfectly located, it was the second hotel I stayed in in Poprtland and it was far superior to the other one. Everything felt so proefessional and homely. Awesome hotel!
The beds and sofa were both very comfortable, everyone slept great. The room was very spacious and clean.
Norhing
I traveled for business on tax exempt travel. Taxes on the room were still charged. They could not and would not correct the issue even though all of the forms and documentation were provided. I’ve stayed at other hotels in the area and had no problems. I regret the decision to stay here. Amateur hour.
Spacious room in a central location. The front desk staff was exceptional. Bathroom products were great and the room was comfortable.
The entire hotel is dated. It looks like they moved into the Hotel Monaco and changed nothing. The elevator regularly opened and closed the doors multiple times. I also hate that they do not have daily housekeeping service.
Location, style, room
Nothing
Well maintained hotel in downtown.
Minor issue was that this location is on the fringe of the part of town that has a larger number of street people. When exiting the lobby, turn left to reach the better part of downtown. Turning right towards the river you will encounter more street people.
Very nice hotel and very very friendly staff. Rooms are big and very clean and quiet.
Breakfast is VERY minimal. Eggs, roosted potatoes, beacon, fruits and cereals. That's it. not even bread of cheese. Parking is about 60 per night. I did not know that but downtown Portland does not feel safe at all. Very scary experience. This of course not on the hotel.
Очень необычный отель! Интерьер завораживает. Расположение хорошее. Очень понравилось лобби. Много интересных картин и инсталляции. Советую к посещению.
That it’s next to a bar. That bar is lit. But also the room was super awesome and had incredible patterns. My friends and I had a wonderful trip thanks to the help of the staff from this hotel.
OVERPRICED! $6 for water. They told us we had free waters but placed the waters at the front and had the free ones hidden away….. suspicious… rude even…
Met all our needs
The location is good for visitors wanting to experience Portland (a small city anyway, with good mass transit). The hotel succeeds at carrying out its sort of quirky vision. It's comfortable and clean, and when we staye there it was surprisingly inexpensive.
The breakfast set up wasn't very useful (breakfast options were so few that we skipped it, since my daughter doesn't eat eggs or pork).
Great staff, everyone was very friendly and kind. Also very helpful. Nice quiet hallways without any loud noises. The location was great, very central to everything.
The hotel had a bit of a musty smell but that's understandable since it's an older building. We did have to request a mini fridge but had no issues getting one.
Location was central with lots of stores and restaurants w/n walking distance, rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel gym was nice with plenty of amenities. The decor was certainly interesting.
Breakfast was minimal for cost, though we got 1 complimentary voucher per day. It was weird that you had to ask for room cleaning services, and our bathroom door handle was broken. Shame they did not have a pool, but we did know that prior to booking.
Excellent affordable breakfast
$75 pet fee for one night.
Being in the middle of diwntiwn Portland is good and bad. There are many one way streets all in the area, and parking can be a challenge if not used to big city travel. Parking in underground parking was tight and hard. The hotel is 100 years old but is updated. If you want a fridge or microwave in your room, we gad to add for one. The room doors are heavy and load when they self close. The staff was great and friendly. There is a shopping mall within walking distance. There is a lot of street people in and around the area. There is midtown beer garden that has 20+ food carts around the corner.
Corner King Bed room, 6th floor- good size room and bath, clean, comfortable bed, view of busy street and other brick buildings was okay. Mandatory "Destination fee" included 2 small room waters, and breakfast & coffee credit at nearby restaurant (I didn't use). Quirky furniture combinations in room were comfortable. Lobby was beautiful, had a piano and dedicated staff monitoring front door until key card entry was activated at night. Located in a downtown area of Portland between 5th and 6th streets, public transit ran these two major streets and was fairly easy to figure out. I arrived to Portland via Amtrak and left from PDX Airport. Although a hotel shuttle would have been nice, I managed with LTR and buses. Notes: cheap tp in room, no room security latch on door, underground ramp parking is extra. Hot water and bathrobe were great. Street noises did wake me. Other guests were polite. 6th floor ice machine was out of order, so had to find another floor's machine. High ceilings in room added to overall comfort. Slow charge USB nightstand outlet: bring your own plug. The differing carpet and prints was oddly dizzying. Fun artwork throughout. Bathroom tiles still held original "Hotel Monaco" script, possibly hand painted- added character.
Looked cute
Staff checking us in we’re awful and they left me locked out for 20 mins in the middle of the night as they had failed to mention I needed a key card to get in the lobby at night, when my partner came downstairs to let me in one of the attendance told him not to go that way because it was a crazy woman outside lol I’m 22yrs old on the street of Portland at midnight on the street instead of assuming I was a guest there they left me out there
The modern fun decor, love it
The shower could use some work. There was no warm level .
The price was fair.. locstion is great
Prostorné pokoje, vyborne vybavení
Vse v poradku
Cool look, large rooms, quiet
Some things a bit worn - sink cracked, sofa edge fraying. Having to ask for coffee maker - should be in every room
This room was unique, extremely beautiful as my friend and I were on a trip up highway 1 from Southern California. It was in a prime location downtown near a lot of things and it was huge.
Großzügige Räumlichkeiten. Gediegene Ausstattung8
Frühstück: Minimalistisches Angebot. Kein Toast! Parken mit $51 / Tag sehr teuer.
Great room, great staff, great price
Handled all my issues. Left satisfied.
the staff was really friendly and helpful. the rooms were large and comfortable. the decor was quirky and fun and loved the key cards. nice fitness center and convenient location
sliding door in suite was sticky and noisy. valet fee was quite pricey and parking was terrifying but tricky because of downtown location.
The staff was very understanding of my dilemma of flights that nite! The staff that greeted us was a bit short when asking about accommodations fees and what we could receive since we were not eating in the restaurant...
The hotel hallways and our room was not a very pleasant smell.. Maybe hiding dog had been there!! Asked for coffee pot on check-in for 9am .. Had to call 2 times at 920 and 935 to see where it was.
We liked the lively location
Our stay was very disappointing we book two queen room. Parking was expensive and inconvenient, We had to park 2 blocks away from the hotel because the only parking access to was a 55$ charge or a Valet, housekeeping was not as misinformed, the room was not cleaned properly, basic amenitites ( Microwave and mini fridge) were missing or restirected, We had mimimum access to hot water and coffee and the overall service did not match what was advertised.
While staying at the Royal Sonesta, I stopped by Finch on Fifth for cocktails and was thoroughly impressed. Erick, the bartender, provided an exceptional bar experience from start to finish. His professionalism, warm personality, and attention to detail immediately stood out. It was obvious Erick has a genuine passion for hospitality that shines through in every interaction. He created an inviting atmosphere, offered thoughtful recommendations, and crafted outstanding cocktails with skill and precision. It's clear he takes pride in making every guest feel welcome and appreciated. Thank you, Erick, for the excellent service and memorable experience. Finch on Fifth is fortunate to have you behind the bar, and I look forward to visiting again.
Breakfast was OK, maybe I would have liked more sausage and less bacon, but it's just me:)
A bit upgrade to the facility, the old is in the air, stuffy room
Space -very large for the price
Parking but it’s more Portland’s fault than the hotels
Love love love the decor
Nothing
Staff was great and responsive.
AC issues. Odd breakfast situation

Lots of character
Good location.
Bad service. Very limited options at breakfast, e.g., no bread being served.

Great location, clean and nice room. Friendly staff.
The breakfast was very poor.
Beautiful room and fantastic sitting room off the lobby with a fireplace. Great, helpful staff.
Staff was eager to help and friendly, especially Austin. Great location and spacious rooms.
Nothing comes to mind.
Love the beauty of the whole hotel. The old architecture and the tall doors were beautiful! Loved the atmosphere!
very big room deco and style entrance area with fireplace
breakfast was disappointing
The location was perfect.
we arrived before checkin and the staff was very forthcoming and allowed us to get our room early.
Staff was great, location was great, room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staff was very helpful when we came early, they kept our luggage until we were able to check in. The parking valet is located next to the hotel and we felt our vehicle was safe and easy to access.
You have to request a coffee maker and refrigerator for your room. Our coffee maker did not work and it was tough to find a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. The staff offered to come into our room to fix the coffee maker at 6am, but I sleep in and my husband gets up early for coffee, so that did not work for us. The restaurant doesn't open until 7am and breakfast was not great, just adequate.
The hotel’s interior is cheerful and eclectic and close to shopping, movies, restaurants, food trucks and donuts!!
Nothing
The mcm furniture, especially in our suite was so beautiful and unique. The bath tub was HUGE and could fit two people. The bedding/mattress/pillows made it so I had the best sleep that I’d had in a long time. There were two bathrooms in our suite which made getting ready for the concert very easy. Also we loved the coffee down in the lobby every morning, pet policy, and lastly, the valet staff was very accommodating and friendly!
There isn’t room service, and also if you order door dash you have to walk all the way down to the lobby to get your food, which was pretty far if you are on the top floor and far from the elevator. There are no smart tv capabilities so I had to purchase a Roku to bypass the (extremely expensive) ancient music streaming app that only lets you choose the genre and not even what artist or song you listen to. There was a short period of time when we got back from the expo center at 2 am and the shower didn’t have any hot water. You could hire maybe more personable night staff…or maybe do some hospitality training on the ones you have. Also maybe a flat rate for valet if you’re staying multiple nights- when you’re paying multiple days (the whole weekend) you are paying for 3 days! Astronomical!! Also maybe upgrading the usb plug-ins or having maybe an alarm clock/speaker with music capabilities that has an adapter with usb-c would be nice!
