Good situation to get to town. Bus stop outside for hop on, hop off bus and boat trip with 24hr ticket. Taxi to station available with call from reception. Easy access to Chester Zoo from the bus terminal using my bus pass. Breakfast very acceptable with choice of cooked or continental food plus fruit. Just one tiny niggle general in a lot of hotels now. There were no drawers in the furniture to keep small items or personal clothing. Didn't affect my scoring as my first solo visit after previous visits with my husband have also been very good and would be happy to stay on my own again.
Already noted absence of drawers in the furniture.
Good location, close to the city. Clean, quiet, and comfortable rooms.
£12 per day parking charge.
My wife and I thought the staff from reception to the cleaners were very obliging and helpful. The hotel was within easy walking distance to the city centre so didn’t use the car so much.
We were led to believe that the car parking was free when it was actually £12 per night so that put a bit of a dampener on the start of our break, I think these things should be made more clearer when booking.
Ideal location for exploring Chester. No frills but all essentials well done.
Noise of bins or beer barrels being moved early both mornings ie. about 6.0am. Yellowish film on window obscured view.
Great location, easy to get to downtown Chester. Friendly staff, very helpful.
The mattress wasn’t very good, the springs on one side felt like they had disappeared.
Location was excellent as we had come for the horse racing
A bit more of a selection of hot food items at breakfast
The young man at reception was excellent and couldn't do enough for us to accommodate a request to get into our rooms earlier as we had a meal booked at 3pm. Rooms great and very comfortable, breakfast excellent, location great.
Could have done with breakfast been on a little longer.
Location fabulous for visiting the races and exploring Chester. Comfortable rooms and clean facilities.
Our room was at the front of the building and could hear the traffic early hours.
Location of hotel good and also hop on bus stop outside. The view of the race course from the final room was nice. The staff, particularly the women, were very helpful
The first and second rooms room we were shown were for the disabled and outside were the rubbish bins and an early Veolia collection. I found the location for the disabled quite insulting. The final room on the third floor was suitable for the disabled but there was a constant noise of an engine throughout the night. I would have preferred waiter service for the main course at breakfast. No information about how to walk into town, local restaurants or amenities such as hospital.
So close to the race course for race day.
The beds were very small.
Hotel a 5 minuti a piedi dal centro
Camera con poca luce e TV piccola
Everything was great room was lovely with nice view and breakfast was hot and there was plenty
Can't think of anything
Location Cleanliness
You had to pay extra to park in the car park
Location
The smell in the shower from the shower waste, spoke to Todd one of the housekeepers and he was passing our complaint to the manager
Location was great. City centre location with parking (additional fee) available. Good selection of herbal teas available. Tea and coffee available free all day even at the bar. Fresh fruit available at breakfast.
All of it especially being able to get an extra drink all of the time .
The only Niggle is always the same here….finding it and getting to the car park. But that’s probably me lol
The staff were exceptional, extremely pleasant and helpful and efficient. The hotels position was ideal.
The room 4 was lovely but because of its location we had to suffer the sound of trains passing through the bedroom several times an hour but thus did not spoil our stay.
Lovely spacious room. Excellent buffet breakfast. Nice staff. Great location for exploring Chester and hop on hop off bus stops right outside. Good disabled access throughout. Car parking right outside in the racecourse but you do have to pay which I thought should really be free for guests
Car park could be free for guests, especially blue badge holders.
Location was very good, easy to walk to centre. Staff very helpful.
Was surprised having to pay for parking. Door stop in Room 213 trip hazard due to weird position.
The rooms were very spacious and bathrooms immaculate. Staff were friendly , polite and helpful. Housekeeping on a daily basis .
The only issue was that they didn’t offer any food , except pizzas throughout the day and evening , so very limited.
Room was clean and warm
Breakfast was poor cold plates for hot food which affected the hot food. Parking fee was not expected as we have stayed here before and never had to pay £12 before
Location excellent. Room next to corridor doors and overlooking main road so not really quiet but got used to it. Breakfast very good, plenty of choice.
More storage space, don’t like living out of a suitcase for 4 nights, ok for 1 or 2 nights, room safes would be nice too,
the location was ideal for our visit, the breakfast was nice everything you expect the staff were very good as my daughter has a nut allergy and we were put away from most guests as best as possible. the was clean but I found under the chair crisps and wasn't even looking for rubbish on the floor.
there wasn't much to dislike. for our 2 night stay.
very convenient location. Loved the train that kept going by the window. The staff were exceptionally helpful.
One thing is, I didn’t like that. They didn’t have a microwave to be able to heat any hot food we brought into the room. And no air-conditioning which Americans are used to and I was from the USA.
Mooi dichtbij centrum
-
The fact I was told over the phone when i was on my way that they would change the twin room to a double and when i arrived i still walked in to a twin room
Staff were amazing and super helpful 👏
Nothing
Location was fantastic. Easy walk to city center and river. Nice breakfast with great coffee machine. Lovely staff always willing to help. Good security.
No AC. Noisy road especially in the early hours of the day (3am). If there was an AC then the window could be closed and noise reduced.
Breakfast was great and there was a great choice.Location was perfect for going into the city.
Everything was fine,my wife and I have no complaints.
Location was good, staff were helpful
Had to pay all your parking up front , I had to leave days earlier still had to pay all the parking
Hotel was in a great location. Perfect for exploring. Breakfast was good with a good selection of both hot cold food. Room was spacious and very comfortable.
Was a bit disappointed to have to pay £12 / night for parking. Thought it might be free for hotel guests.
I have booked this hotel on many occasions mainly because of its location and free parking. Extremely disappointed to find that there is now a charge of £12 per night when staying here. I will therefore NOT ever book here again because of these charges.
A room with no trains going past the window
Breakfast was very well stocked and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was very cramped and hot.
David & the reception team were excellent. They were welcoming & very knowledgeable of the area. They sorted an early check in & free coffees was a nice touch!
Room slightly tired. Curtains, door handle not great on bathroom. Otherwise really good
schönes Zimmer, gute Betten und gutes Frühstück. Großer Parkplatz und gute Lage.
The breakfast was good but felt it was lacking a few items such as tomatoes and mushrooms
Near to centre, tea and coffee whenever you want it .
Nothing not to like
Asked for a view & was given a room over looking Chester race course…. Clean & spacious
No complimentary biscuits… haha
Great location in Chester by the racecourse. Excellent accommodation friendly staff spacious room close to.all cafes and shops
Loved everything
Friendly staff and location and parking
Ideal location Superb breakfast Ground floor bedroom greatly appreciated
No complaints
Hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. Hotel was clean, rooms were nice. Breakfast was great. And unlimited coffee anytime was spot on.
There was nothing we didn't like
Great location very clean and excellent breakfast
Location. Staff Breakfast
Room size Housekeeping Partly broken door of bathroom
Staff were very welcoming and genuinely seemed like they wanted to help.
Room was really warm, a fan was provided but did little to help.
Near to the places we wanted to visit
Room was very poor, security at the gate were rude. And noise outside of the hotel from traffic and then 2 police cars with sirens and lights on on our last night deal with a customer made more noise then the customer
Cleanliness excellent.Staff friendly and obliging.
Although not hotels fault.....lift out of action for 24 hours.
Easy to find, very close to the centre of Chester - great location Used as a base to run the Friday night mid Cheshire 5k and the park in the past parkrun on Saturday morning Ground floor area, modern & clean - breakfast area and small bar Good value - assume prices shoot up when horse racing is on
The sofa bed arm was tatty and worn needs binning - room 102 Parking info on booking.com still showing £10 it’s now £12 a night - however, they did refund when raised only by contacting via booking.com
The best part about staying here was the staff. Breakfast was ok too
Bed bugs unfortunately.
Close to city centre
Lift broken on 1st day. Room not what we expected. Smell in corridor.
The room was excellent. All the staff were very helpul
I could find nothing about the hotel to complain about but in the room next to mine the two gentlemen staying in their decided to have an argument from 1.00a.m. until 3.30a.m. I did complain to the staff next morning and they apologised and if I had been staying that night they were going to move me to another room.
Closeness to the town. Very clean. Good parking.
Close to town centre Reasonable parking charges Clean and quiet
Good choice of breakfast.
Clean and very well situated
Lift not working
The location was brilliant we visited chester zoo, Cheshire oaks shopping centre and visited Chester City centre. Bathroom in the roo. was lovely, the reception area was air conditioned clean and airy. Check in was straight forward and rooms were easy to find. Breakfast was also tasty. Complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day was great.
The room was quite small for 2 adults and a teenager, with the sofa bed out we could barely move around in there. The room was not particularly clean the lamps were dusty and the chair in the room was filthy and stained, I placed a towel on it to sit on it! There wasnt much storage to put clothes. The walls are very thin and on our first night the room next door was particularly noisy and we were all still awake at 1.20am. Our beds were made and room was tidied however the cleaner did for some bizaree reason remove a toilet roll we had brought ourselves and also took one of our room keys!
Good location. Nice room. Clean. Breakfast was lovely. Would stay there again.
We didnt know about tge £12 charge for parking.
all of it
nothing
Location, staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great.
No air con and it was a warm evening
no tomatoes or fried eggs for breakfast
Good location for exploring Chester. Short walk into town from the hotel.
Rooms do not air conditioning.
Close to city centre. Very clean
Breakfast could have been better. No fruit juice and one small toaster. Bread was larger than the toaster
Car parking was not true , i had to pay £12 for each night
Hidden cost for car parking was not honest through Booking.com
The breakfast was good, the location was excellent, the bed was comfortable.
No wardrobe space it drawers shelves for clothes, just a small area for hanging a few items. Some of the items of furniture in the room and in the bar were dirty and stained. No air con anywhere other than the bar area. Bar staff quite dismissive of the fact the had run out of run of the mill popular drinks such as Bailey’s and didn’t stock Tia Maria at all. I would have thought the amount of people asking for it on Friday night, the least they could have done was have some for Saturday but no!! Bit strange on a normal weekend let alone a race meeting weekend,
Perfect location. Comfy bed. Staff very friendly and helpful
No problems
Location
Needs more selection at breakfast
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was ideal for Chester Races.
I asked for a double bed but was given two singles. Not ideal, but everything else about the room was fine.
Breakfast was good and location perfect for what we required.
The noise wasn't great and machines kept breaking at breakfast such as juice machine and toaster. Substitutes were on hand but not as good as could be.
Great location, easy to get to and easy walk into the city centre. Great value for money, breakfast was good.
Rooms aren’t soundproof sadly so can hear the road a lot and if anyone’s in the hallway you can hear their conversations.
Excellent location, staff, room.
Security. A person can enter front of hotel into lift and onto floor where rooms are without a card. A card scanner between lift and doors would have made my wife happier.
Staff very professional and helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Good choice for breakfast and restaurant well organised. Hot food could have been warmer but very pleasant and helpful staff. First hotel that I have been to where complementary drinks available which I thought was fantastic. Will definitely recommend and return.
Breakfast buffet could have been warmer.
Everything about our stay. The room was perfect. Downstairs in the Bar area there was free tea's and coffees. Unless you wanted something a bit stronger...🙂. This, of course was not free. What I really like was that breakfast was included in the price.. fabulous
Car park fee. The car park was £12.00 for 24 hours. Sometimes you just have to put up with things like this, to gain a lot more.. the Holiday Inn Express near the racecourse was exceptional...
Staff very friendly Room was very comfortable
Some room parts could do with being refurbished
Excellent location for the racecourse. Nice bar area. Good breakfast. Excellent car park.
Bed was too small. Someone tried to gain entry to our room at about 3am but luckily we had the chain on the door.
Really nice hotel, very clean, friendly staff, good breakfast
It wasn’t obvious where the car park was however there was also one across the road from the front door which was actually cheaper
Location easy walk into historic Chester centre.
Road outside a bit noisy with window open at night to cool down room.
Het hotel ligt op loopafstand van de stad 10 minuten lopen, het ontbijt was erg goed, er was van alles wat
Niks
Check in and the staff were excellent, Breakfast had a great deal of choice catering for all. There was a guest with a strawberry allergy when we stayed, as told by the staff, when I asked about Jams, and the reason given for missing items was due to this, which, I thought, was a great touch from the hotel.
Rooms are pretty small, and compact, especially for a 3 bedroom. The items inside had not been upgraded for 3 people staying, so I had to go to reception to get extra towels and cups etc. Rooms were excessively hot, and with no air con this made it quite uncomfortable to stay and sleep during the night. Air con would be a great addition on an upgrade, given the way the climate seems to be going. Or windows that opened a little further to bring in more breeze. The hair dryer in the room started burning, and the smell was awful, this really should have been removed from the room and disconnected from the mains so it couldn't be used. We did find a portable hairdryer later in the room.
La gentillesse et le professionnalisme lors de notre enregistrement, le petit déjeuner gratuit et copieux, les belles explications pour découvrir la ville.
Le prix très élevé du parking (12£ la nuit)
It's clean and well located for a walking tour of fascinating Chester town
The room was easily accessible, near the fire exit, staff were really helpful. Parking was great and easy walk in to town.
The room was too hot to sleep at night.
Clean and tidy room. Comfortable sleeping. Good parking, but it added £36 to the bill, which we did not think about Reasonable walking distance into the City
Road noise, which appreciated, cannot be helped. Could have done with a set of drawers for clothes Breakfast fine, but do not like scrambled egg !! Poached or fried would have been ideal
La vicinanza al centro città è la buona colazione inclusa
Poco caratteristico
Staff were lovely and accommodating. Good location for town and the local attractions. Room was clean and tidy with a nice view of the racecourse.
Room was very warm throughout the night, that was the only issue we had. Our 2 year old struggled with the heat.
Staff very friendly and attentive
The cooked breakfast items were mediocre, however there were other options such as cereal and toast.
Staff were amazing upon arrival, lovely bar area, lovely breakfast.
No aircon in the room.
Good service
Nothing
Location was good.
Buona colazione, pulito, parcheggio comodo. E poi l’impegno di tutto lo staff….
Rooms were nice and clean, and very convenient having ajoining rooms. Plenty of pillows and towels.
Put me up bed had a very uncomfortable mattress. Limited slots for breakfast between 8.30 and 9.30. Had to pay extra for parking our car.
The hotel is perfect for the racecourse. All the staff are very pleasant. The room was comfortable and clean
If you want to go into Chester there is no other way than to walk. Luckily it’s not far. The only thing it does have a slight incline. Which is not good if you have breathing problems. Apart from the breakfast they do not do food. Although they have started doing a few pizzas.
Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast.
Being made to pay an additional £12 for parking as a guest of the hotel. A bit cheeky. Rooms could do with air con.
Breakfast was superb , place was clean and tidy. Bed was comfy
Close to race course
The bed room we were put in was not to standard very small
Everything except traffic affected sleep
Traffic noise
The location and the friendly staff
It was expensive. A lack of food as only pizza available. The complimentary juice was out of order. Poor lighting in the room. No safe. No air conditioning.
Breakfast was enjoyable each morning
