Elevators can be slow

The hotel is very conveniently located near Chinatown and a less than a 20 minute ride to Fisherman's Wharf. Being a Marriott Bonvoy member I received a free room upgrade to a suite which was very nice of the staff. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a walk-in shower. The drinks at the Level 3 bar were good but pricey.

I was not happy about the hotel's $38 destination fee. It's a completely made up fee by Marriott and is not mandated by the city. Marriott does not mention this fee on their website. They inform you about it when you check in. They charge this 'destination' fee EVERY DAY you stay there and you can't opt out of it. Even more infuriating is they give you back $20 in credits each day but you have to spend it that day or lose it. You're forced to use these stupid credits at the hotel. We ended up buying overpriced $7 bottled water and snacks every day at their tiny convenience store.

This hotel provided my best stay, ever!

The service from the Employees are top notch .. My wife and I have stayed at many nice hotels and they are all nice but it's the service from the Employees that brings us back, The employee ( Norvin) goes far beyond his duties to make our stay so much nicer, he always remembers us and his hospitality is second to none, Our next stay we talked about the presidential suite and Norvin gave us the tour of that room, It's fabulous. We will keep coming back and tell all our friends where to stay in the City, and location is fabulous ... Thank them all for another great stay ...

There is not much ... The only thing I experienced was the young man at Valet desk after hours ... I am an early riser and I smoke so I take trips out to smoking area When I did on this trip, I went out to smoke and the young man was asleep, and the second time I exited to smoke he was on his phone, I said good morning and he ignored me or maybe he didn't hear me ... The young lady at bell hop counter did and she responded and ran over and open the door on valet side, ... That's about all ... The day guys are fab

The room was big and spacious and we had a very beautiful view of the city at night.

We requested for a later check out and was given 1:30 p.m. Then, when our tour operator informed us of our return timing of our morning tour, I asked for an extension of the later check out time to 2 p.m., but the counter staff very sternly rejected my request. On the day of our check out, we rushed through our washing up to reach the counter by 1:30 p.m. but there was a long queue of guests in front of us checking in. By the time the counter staff processed our check out, it was around 2:10 p.m. Wouldn't JW Marriot, being a top class hotel, allow for some flexibility in extending our check out time by 30 minutes?

Location was good and its a pretty hotel.

Couch in the suite was disgusting. Very dirty. Staff was great and very accommodating. Bring your own blow dryer, was less than 2 feet long. Had to bend over to use it and it kept falling out of the wall. Probably won’t return

Very disappointed with this J.W. Marriott. One ice machine (piece of crap) for the entire hotel which is located on the third floor and no lounge !!! Displays 4 Diamond award for 2025. How could this be? Old room and choosing not stay here in the future. BTW they charge a $35.00 destination fee (for what services?). I spoke to the manager this morning and nothing but excuses blaming it on covid. Please, tired of hearing COVID as an excuse for poor service and poor quality. Life time Titanium Marriott member.

With the price what i paid for tge studio, breakfast should have been included. But it was not and to buy that was not cheap.

The hotel facilities and location was good.

The hotel charge car parking at a very high rate of $79 per night for in-house guests. This is absurd. I can still accept a reasonable amount for parking, but charging the same rate as for an outsider is absurd.

My days at the JW were excellent The staff was very friendly. The hotel smelled good and clean.

We love this hotel and have stayed multiple times. Antonio at the Front Desk is fantastic - he's been there for years and is a wealth of knowledge. Our room was terrific with the best bathrobes ever! Enjoyed the breakfast buffet, too! Will definitely stay there again!

The property was beautiful. The room was clean. We were put in a room right next to the gym and constantly heard weights banging, especially EARLY in the morning. I told the front desk and they didn’t seem to care.

The property was amazing and the staff there was incredible. I lost my phone in my car and the valet staff turned over every stone to assist. And all with a smile too!

Honestly, this might be the most disappointing JW Marriott I’ve ever stayed at. Here’s why: Check-in was a mess. Got there at 8 PM, a line of tired people, and only one person working the front desk. Come on. Elevators take forever. More than once, I waited 10+ minutes just to go up or down. Not great when you’re in a hurry. My key cards just… didn’t work. Went down three times to get new ones, and the front desk lady looked more annoyed each time. Turns out, the lock itself was broken. Maintenance "fixed" it, but guess what? Stopped working again the next day. BTW did I mention the slow elevators? Breakfast for elites? Bare minimum. Yeah, it’s technically their policy, but the regular Marriott down the street gives elites hot breakfast. This one? Sad pastries and cereal. Lame. Desk in the room is a joke. Just a high bar table with stools—zero back support, terrible for working. If you’re here for business, good luck. Bottom line: Expected way better from a JW. Wouldn’t stay again

The Greeting crew are fantastic Especially ( Norvin ) He remembered both my wife and my name's from the last visit over 2 years ago, We booked a room with a view, But the view was building tops So Norvin arranged it and moved us from the 8th floor to the 15th floor which had a fantastic view, They always go above and beyond... Great location, Great food, Great employees, Great rooms, Hands down a Great place to stay ... We be back ... Thank you JW Marriott Greg and Cindy Moe

Along with my mom and daughter, I stayed at this JW Marriott property for a half work/half spring break week. The hotel is a smaller property, but comfortable, and felt like a safe refuge from the city activity outside. My experience with the front desk was great. Notable shout outs go to Anthony and Jake, who helped me on separate days when the coffee ran out earlier than the 8:30 a.m. end time. They were both so accommodating, and delivered really stellar customer service, which I was grateful for. The room was comfortable and roomy - we all slept well in the beds. I loved that the closet/storage area was a little separate from the sleeping area, lending to a more spacious feel. The gym was great - I loved starting my mornings there at 6 a.m. with the other early risers. All the equipment was state of the art and modern, and it appeared that staff would come around regularly to wipe it all down. We didn't dine at the restaurant, but there were always a good number of people eating there or at the bar. One morning, I went down to the restaurant to order a steamed milk, and the kindest server greeted and helped me. She was SO sweet and kind, I am kicking myself for not remembering her name. It started with a B, and was "Bizen" or "Bison." If management happens to read this and knows who I'm referring to, please recognize this amazing lady. The hotel does not have a pool, so that may be something to note for families with young kids. It's walking distance from a bunch of great restaurants, and you really can't beat the location. Docking one star because $80/day for valet parking just feels incredibly wrong. Otherwise we loved our stay here.

This hotel is beautiful and the signature scent when you enter it is divine. Lovely amenities. It is close to great shopping and restaurants. Thanks to Karin Gomez in the Executive Offices who had great suggestions of things to do. Much appreciated. Will definitely return. Elizabeth & Briana

I would like to leave a 5 star review for Chef Fermin. I stayed at the JW Marriott for a business trip March 21-23. I had breakfast at the hotel on Saturday and Sunday morning. The breakfast menu had no options for vegans. Chef Fermin came out to speak with me, and then proceeded to make an AMAZING breakfast of stir-fried tofu with broccolini and kale leaves, with side of potatoes sauteed with onions and bell peppers. The dish was perfectly seasoned! It was absolutely delicious...that I asked for the exact same dish again on Sunday. I want to thank Chef Fermin for his creativity, excellence, and most importantly, taking the time to listen to my needs. Chef Fermin made my experience at JW Marriott memorable. Thank you Chef Fermin! As a side note to JW Marriott, please make a vegan option standard on your menus.

This was my first time staying at the JW Marriott in San Francisco, though I'm a big fan of Marriott Bonvoy hotels; this location and venue did not disappoint. Staff was knowledgeable, extremely friendly and helpful. I was there for a tradeshow, and while full of others there for the same show, it was much more quiet and peacful to conduct meetings. The in-room dining was average and quite pricey - but comparable to other hotels in the area. I will stay there again for sure

Great place to stay except there hve newn more homeless around the area

Where should I start... Sleep quality? None courtesy of loud people outside. Room? Nope. Worst layout and wasted space ever. No proper closet and who needs cabinetry in the loo? Desk space? Mostly occupied by a bar fridge and a bar stool. The small table with the high chair screams "let's kill ergonomics!" Housekeeping? Not particularly environmentally adept. Why? Despite me hanging towels, these were replaced by fresh ones. So why put up signs reminding the customer of the environment when staff could care less? I have been to many Marriott properties and this one is, frankly, highly overrated. There are many better places in town and I do not plan to come back. Hey Management, do not bother with a nice reply... you are wasting your time.
