There was nothing I don’t like

Location is good and plenty of parking spaces in the car park. The room was good size and bed was comfortable, the shower was a total let down as when used on warm setting it was like a trickle and no pressure at all, the pump was coming on and off but hardly made any difference to the shower water pressure.

Grounds are beautiful. There is also a gym spa on the property. Rooms are pleasant and nice sized.

The food served in the restaurant is like okay home made food. Breakfast buffet was large but was a huge meh. Worst coffee I’ve ever had at a hotel. They really need to step up their game on the food.

the place was very very tired, the carpets were dirty, all the decoration throughout the property was in a very poor and shabby state. the room with a garden view was almost correct if it was not foe the two big overgrown trees completely blocking all view and light coming into the room.. the evening dinner menu was very poor with little choice, choice was like a pub food menu. when we finally got our food it was not very hot. we chose wine from the menu three attempts before we got one that was in stock. Breakfast was a buffet unfortunately all food on this choice was not very hot and presented very poorly.

Limited toiletries, particularly conditioner, which is unusual in a hotel of this standard. No bottled water in the fridge, again, below expectations. Bathroom sink doesn’t drain properly. Had same issue a few weeks ago and didn’t comment on it but second time is annoying.

Breakfast, great! Such a good range of food and really tasty/good quality. Room was lovely and modern and clean. Really nice building and stunning grounds! Spa/pool/gym facilities were great, very clean and modern. The late night blue lighting was very cool!

The pool wasn't particularly relaxing in the (Sunday) morning because there were kids swim lessons. The staff were ambivalent, it wasn't bad service, but it wasn't happy service either.

The location really is good, close to the centre of the city but with a country feel. Everything was fine, included breakfast was really quite good, dinner was fine.

These old hotels can feel a bit heavy, and the many extensions make them feel all corridor.

War alles ok, wir waren zufrieden. Sehr idyllische Lage, aber trotzdem nah an Aberdeen. Trotz der Größe des Hotels und der zahlreichen Gäste, u.a. auch von verschiedenen Veranstaltungen, war es sehr ruhig.

Es waren zwar zahlreiche, kostenlose Parkplätze vorhanden, aber aufgrund der vielen Veranstaltungen war nur noch ein sehr weit entfernter Parkplatz zu bekommen. Die Zufahrtswege waren sehr holprig.

Place look amazing , quiet surrounded by tree and grass. Old part of hotel look stunning but need a little touch. Staff positive and happy to help. Plan to come back. Great time to send with partner for romantic escape. Room size was nice for just two of us (double bed) we had space to sit.

Hot water did not work in the morning with news of it dismissed as "oh thats bad luck". Apparent could not care factor. All they needed to do was give us access to a shower that worked.

This is an exceptional place to stay. The rooms and beds were fabulous and the dinner and breakfast were lovely. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Die Sauberkeit könnte besser sein wir waren 3 Nächte dort und Sie haben nur die Minibar aufgefüllt und das Bett etwas glatt gezogen. Ich habe Privileg gebucht und festgestellt das die anderen Zimmer genau so groß sind man bekommt nur Chips und einen Schokoriegel mehr. Für den Preis etwas wenig.

Wonderful looking hotel, in woodlands close to Aberdeen. Our room was large and comfortable, with a large comfortable bed. We slept very well, then had a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Would recommend and would visit again next time we are in Scotland.

There was nothing not to like! We just wished we had booked longer so we could have used the spa facilities.

Schlechter, amateurhafter Service. Kein ordentliches Housekeeping, das Zimmer wurde maximal sehr oberflächlich gereinigt. Es war im Hotel viel zu kalt. Die Fenster ließen sich kaum öffnen. Teilweise abgewohnt.

Prijs- kwaliteit was uitmuntend. We verbleven maar 1 nacht op onze doorreis maar het beviel prima. Mooi gebouw, goed eten en rustige kamer.

Het geheel mag iets beter worden bijgehouden qua onderhoud en schoonmaak buitenkant. Maar een prima verblijf, helemaal voor deze prijs!

Location and the setting

Spa was full of little children, impossible tu use or enjoy. Breakfast was is in a dark room. Such beautiful grounds and you couldn’t see them. Housekeeping was friendly but performed poorly probably due to bad management. One day our bed wasn’t made and the room had not been cleaned. Another day we left at 10am and returned at 3.30pm and the room still hadn’t been serviced.

Il y avait en même temps un gros mariage et un séminaire. Beaucoup trop de monde, salon et bar privatisé, parking très chargés... Route d'accès très mal entretenue.

I’ve stayed many times and it’s a lovely location with good facilities.

Nothing, minor criticism would be the carpets were a little dirty. It does look good when guests see this.

La taille et le confort des chambres. La piscine avec sauna, jacuzzi et hammam. Le petit dej’ super complet. Le bâtiment principal qui est superbe et le personnel super agréable. Et en dehors d’Aberdeen (qui au passage est l’une des villes les plus tristes que j’ai eu l’occasion de voir 😢)

Pour dire quelque chose…un jus d’orange frais aurait été meilleur, mais bon, c’est vraiment un détail

Room 150 I was given was dusty and there were bark of dogs and when I requested a change, it was turned down, despite telling the staff that the trip was our 25th anniversary getaway. Not even an anniversary courtesy.

Beautiful and peaceful location. Impressive reception hallway. Very good spa, pool and gym. Plenty of free parking. The staff were efficient and friendly.

For a 4-star hotel, it missed the mark in attention to detail. The tables in the bar were not wiped down after use. The walk-in shower required maintenance. One expects a vanity kit, separate soap for the shower and the washhand basin, with quality products. The tennis courts in the grounds have not been maintained and looked very sad and neglected.

Breakfast was generally typical of a complete buffet for hot and cold food. However the porridge which was made on request was not good. Perhaps a trip to Carrbridge and the golden spurtle ?

De omgeving was mooi

We hadden voor 2 nachten gereserveerd. Bij aankomst was de baliemedewerker al kortaf. We konden naar onze kamer en dat zag er op zich wel netjes uit met uitzicht op groen, wat mooi was. De eerste nacht bleek het ene bed compleet doorgezakt te zijn. Toen we dit de volgende ochtend aangaven was het wat kortaf dat ze zouden kijken voor een oplossing. Later hoorden we dat we die middag naar een andere kamer konden. Aangekomen op die kamer was het bed goed, maar het uitzicht verschrikkelijk. We keken op een opberg binnenplaats met containers! Toen we dit gingen melden bij de baliemedewerker zei ze alleen maar ja het is niet anders. We hebben niets anders. Deze kamer gebruiken we liever ook niet. Of toe wel we hebben dus nu betaald voor een noodkamer, terwijl we een mooiere kamer hadden. De eerste avond hebben we daar gegeten, maar het personeel was overbelast. Daar kan het personeel niets aan doen, maar wij hadden wat te vieren en een beetje klantvriendelijkheid is dan wel mooi. Ze zeiden dat het wat langer kon duren, maar een uur wachten op een dessert is wel erg lang! Terwijl het personeel op de klok liep te kijken wanneer ze weg konden gaan. Het zwembad was gedateerd. Dat is niet erg, maar erg slecht onderhouden. We zouden hier niet weer naar toe gaan en raden het ook niet aan.

Das WC wurde während des Aufenthalts nicht im Ansatz gereinigt, auch sonst war es nicht besonders. Das Frühstück war maximal Mittelmaß. Die Speisen im Restaurant waren gut - aber immer die gleichen und oft war irgendwas nicht da.

Easy check in, friendly staff, large clean room, comfy bed and pillows, excellent surrounds, a lift up to 2nd floor, great breakfast and dinner. Huge choice of drinks at 2 bars. Amazing old foyer and hall.

Noisy fan in ensuite and toilet bowl didn't feel quite secure. Inflexible staff in restaurant when forgetting our second nights dinner booking. Still had nice meal in bar area but eating from small low bar tables is inconvenient when tables were available in dining room.

It’s such a beautiful property and setting. Always my first choice when I come to Aberdeen. Everyone who works there is wonderful.

Felt, everywhere was looking shabby and needed a deep clean. No pillow protectors and a very poor standard of pillows. Breakfast very basic. Bathroom again needed a good clean.

the food in the blair restaurant was amazing and the service there was really good too, we felt really taken care of. the room was massive too that we had and the bathroom was really nice

the building itself was run down in places and more could have been done with the space, the dining room was very dark and our bedroom faced onto a brick wall. the bar was awful and there were plates left out with food on them for hours so it smelled really strongly of food and the barman working kept looking over and ignoring the mess and was either on his phone or recounting the till every 5 minutes for something to do. he also shouted “smile” at us in the corridor when we were getting in the lift at the end of the night. there was no chance for relaxing in this bar and the only music playing was heart radio on a big tv which he kept singing loudly to and dancing across the bar, if we had wanted that we would’ve gone to spoons.

Lovely room with some chocolates and fruit waiting for our arrival. Superb choice of food for our evening meal. Comfortable bar & drawing room for drinks. Terrific choice for breakfast the following morning.

Ardoe is a picture perfect hotel-front just up the hill from Aberdeen CBD. The main entrance was styled very formally. The rooms were way up the back, was a bit of a trek but were spacious and presented neatly. The sitting rooms in the front area were quaint and peaceful. The restaurant was lovely, the service was prompt and the food delicious.

The bed and pillows did feel like they were due a change some time ago.

Tout était très bien dans l’ensemble. Personnel au top. Très bonne qualité de l’hôtel. Excellent rapport qualité / prix : un 4 étoile avec petit déjeuner inclus pour le prix payé c’était une super affaire.

Seul bémols : 1. Plomberie un peu vieillotte), tout comme la salle de bain qui gagnerait à être refaite et modernisée (même si ça colle avec l’ambiance château / maison ancienne du lieu et la chambre. 2. Le bâtiment est ancien c’est pas toujours ultra bien isolé donc on peut entendre pas mal de bruits qui peuvent déranger pour s’endormir / réveiller le matin. En plus, pas de chance pour nous il y avait un mariage ce jour là qui s’y tenait et notre chambre donnait sur le côté ou la salle des festivités avait lieu du coup ça faisait un peu de prix (rien de catastrophique mais ça a un peu « ruiné » le calme).

Das Hotelzimmer war gut ausgestattet. Es gab ein Spa mit Schwimmbad.

Das Zimmer war nicht sauber. Alle Oberflächen waren verschmiert. Die Heizung hat so gestunken, das man wieder gleichzeitig lüften musste. Eines der Fenster fiel dann immer wieder zu. Die Handtuchheizung im Badezimmer hat nicht funktioniert. Der Ablauf in der Badewanne funktionierte erst nachdem man den Stöpsel manuell rausgedreht hatte. Die Kaffeemaschine beim Frühstück war defekt, genauso wie die Sauna. Frühstück war okay.

The sauna was out of order, the coffee machine wasnt working, the young male staff on friday nights blair kitchen left us sitting 30mins without a first drink, menus were late coming to table, our meal order didnt get taking for 15mins or so. Then we asked for a second drink, again waited about 20mins or so. Desert menu took ages aswell. The food was great though.

The location of the hotel makes it picturesque and suitable for the event that we were attending and thus staying at the hotel for i.e. a wedding. We chose a privilege room and it was most definitely worth with the view leading onto the grass embankment with the trees. We were provided with a fan to allow air circulation during the hotter temperature and the windows could be left ajar for air circulation due to the security features at the window. Shower was of good temperature and the bed was comfy enough. Soundproofing more than adequate.

The food was average and on the dates of our stay, the sauna was out of commission. The 11am check out was not the most desirable but not outwith or the norm.

Only one slow lift. No usb plugs. Very cold welcome, reception and bar staff not taught how to treat the public, on the contrary all maintenance men and cleaners extremely pleasant.

The people are amazing, massage was great, amazing location.

Beds are not ready comfortable, room was warm, but when I wanted to open the window, there was no screen so got spiders all throughout the room. Everything close too early, having the bar closed at nine o'clock was ridiculous for an on-site bar.

Das einzige wirklich Positive, das wir von unserem Aufenthalt mitnehmen können, ist die schöne Außenansicht des schlossartigen Gebäudes. Das Gebäude selbst ist durchaus beeindruckend. Pool und Spa- sowie Fitnessbereich sind angenehm.

Leider eine große Enttäuschung – Kundenservice und Organisation mangelhaft Unser Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel war leider von Anfang bis Ende enttäuschend. Besonders der Umgang mit den Gästen und die mangelnde Organisation haben bei uns einen sehr schlechten Eindruck hinterlassen. Bereits beim Check-in war die Rezeption nicht besetzt. Wir mussten über 10 Minuten warten, obwohl in dieser Zeit mehrfach Mitarbeiter an uns vorbeigelaufen sind – ohne uns anzusprechen oder Hilfe anzubieten. Erst nachdem wir einen Mitarbeiter aktiv auf unsere Situation angesprochen hatten, kümmerte er sich darum, jemanden zu holen. Ein herzlicher Empfang sieht definitiv anders aus. Noch unverständlicher war die Zimmerverteilung: Wir waren als fünfköpfige Familie mit Kindern unterwegs und bekamen zwei Zimmer, die so weit voneinander entfernt lagen, dass man etwa vier Minuten benötigte, um von einem Zimmer zum anderen zu gelangen. Das Hotel verfügt über sehr lange und verwinkelte Gänge; unsere Zimmer befanden sich zudem auf unterschiedlichen Etagen und jeweils ganz am Ende des jeweiligen Flurs. Für eine Familie mit Kindern ist eine solche Aufteilung äußerst unpraktisch und aus unserer Sicht nicht nachvollziehbar. Hinzu kam, dass eines der Zimmer furchtbar gestunken hat. Unter diesen Umständen war der Aufenthalt leider alles andere als angenehm. Besonders enttäuschend war jedoch der Umgang mit vergessenen Kleidungsstücken bzw. Badesachen unseres Kindes. Auf unsere Nachfrage wurde uns bestätigt, dass die Sachen gefunden worden waren. Uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass wir einen Kurier beauftragen sollten, der die Sachen abholt und an uns zurückschickt. Das haben wir selbstverständlich organisiert und auch vollständig bezahlt. Leider konnte der Kurier die Sendung beim vereinbarten Termin nicht abholen. Nach unserer Information war die Rezeption – ähnlich wie bereits beim Check-in – offenbar nicht besetzt.

The location was ideal for a relaxing weekend. Lovely building with nice features. The rooms were a good size and the beds were very comfy. Bathroom was great with a large walk in shower and a separate bath. The spa was was very nice and the treatments were exceptional-lovely staff. The restaurant menu choice was very good-good GF options. Breakfast was good although a little cramped when queueing for hot drinks/toast machine.

The hotel is very tired and in need of a spruce up. The dining room and bar were very dimly lit. The chairs/sofas were a little sticky with a few wonky chairs. The window in our room was not fitted properly so we could not open them and so it was quite stuffy. Things like the lace curtains and a couple of towels were very well worn and need replacing. There is also a lack of storage in the bedroom. Unfortunately the sauna/jacuzzi and coffee machine (at breakfast) were all broken on this weekend! We had 3 rooms for 2 nights but only one of these was made up on the 2 nd day-despite leaving the signs on the doors.

It was my birthday and they made it special, a plate with chocolates and said Happy Birthday in the room on arrival and a plate with strawberries and chocolate in the restaurant in the evening!

Sauna wasn’t working but understand this can’t be helped.

Bell'edificio storico in stile "castello scozzese" immerso nella campagna a qualche km da Aberdeen. Camera ampia con letti grandi e comodi. Piscina-sauna-bagno turco ad uso degli ospiti. Tranquillità e relax.

Alcuni membri del personale potrebbero sorridere un po' di più ed essere più gentili. Alcune cose potrebbero essere migliorate: in camera faceva caldo (l'aria condizionata non è presente), ma le finestre per motivi di sicurezza possono essere aperte solo di 10 cm; la ventola del bagno era rumorosa; il lavandino scaricava a fatica e lentamente; da un hotel 4 stelle ti aspetteresti qualche amenities in camera come bottiglie di acqua o ciabattine, che purtroppo non erano presenti.

Wir hatten zwei DZ. Keines war mit einem Föhn ausgestattet. Nicht mal Klobürsten waren vorhanden. Zum Glück waren wir nur eine Nacht.

The building and grounds are beautiful, the staff are welcoming, efficient and very polite and friendly. The food was excellent and I had a lovely stay.
