Ruby River Hotel

The Ruby River Hotel is a great spot - located right on the river, with a walking trail, located between downtown and the Gonzaga Campus. Highly recommend!

We did not know the only elevator was in the lobby building. We were on the second level of building 4. We trekked all our stuff to building 4 before we realized there was no elevator. Had to carry heavy stuff up stairs.

Staff was very friendly. Location was great and the facilities were very much liked by the whole family.

The mattress was very uncomfortable and unfortunately my husband and I will be paying for it in soreness for the next few days at least.

The location was nice (on property). It was a little sketchy off property, if you wanted to walk to someplace close.

The parking lot didn’t feel safe/secure. I was traveling with a lot of packages in my car (moving) and found myself looking out side a lot to check the car. There was supposed to be security on sight however, I never saw them.

The hotel looks old and has a heavy air inside. Lots of cobwebs and we caught a few spiders.

The woman working the front desk was amazing. The phone was ringing constantly and there was a long line to check-in. She was efficient and able to handle all types of issues. You should someone else to work with her and give her a big raise!

I loved every bit of our stay the beds were comfortable rooms were cleaned 2 options for the pools were fantastic the games court was fun the gym could have used a bit of an upgrade but was not a deal breaker

Great location,Clean rooms, friendly staff. We were there right as fire evacuations started. The staff did a great job in the stressful situation and so did the restaurant staff.

Room was clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel to downtown is great and the view of the river is gorgeous. Convenience of having a restaurant that serves until later in the evening is such a bonus and obviously having a pool and hot tub is great!

Where to start... This was a one night stay in the middle of our road trip this Summer. First we were placed in a king room in the 600 wing that had construction outside. We didn't mind that, but if we weren't going to have access to the 'balcony' area we thought there should have been some sort of discount. There was none. We immediately noticed the toilet seat was broken and slipping off the top of the toilet after entering the room and unpacking. There is no phone to use to call the front desk and my texts didn't seem to be going through. So, we trudged all the way back. They could only switch us to a double queen (in the 600 wing still without access to the balcony due to construction) and gave us new cards - saying we'd still have access to the old room in order to move our luggage, etc. After walking all the way back to the room, the old cards did NOT work and forced us to yet again walk up to the front desk. This is a long walk and at this point our tempers were fraying. Eventually, a worker came by and let me into the room while my partner was up at the front desk to let me start taking luggage out and transfer it all. The next issue we had was with the dining. There was a party of 20+ placed next to us and another couple and the noise level went through the roof. The other party asked to be moved because they, "couldn't hear themselves think". We rushed through dinner and just left. This could have been handled better...a party that large perhaps could be in one of the private rooms? Maybe more waiters? Our server (Daniel) got slammed with the large party and once they were seated didn't have much time to service the other tables in his section. Making the service poor for us and the others. It’s totally NOT his fault, but it was whoever is running the restaurant or allowing very large parties like that in the main dining area without extra help. The 3rd problem - sleep quality was poor due to people walking down the hallways near our 2nd room yelling, whooping and making all sorts of noise deep into the night and wee hours of the morning. (The 2nd room was close to the ice maker, etc.) The first room fiasco should have triggered management to 'make it right'. A small discount or a voucher for a free breakfast or something at the onsite restaurant. Nothing was offered. I will not be staying here again when going through Spokane on our vacations in the future.

The amenities! Excellent pool area and entertainment for the kids! Located in the heart of downtown by the river.

One of the hot tubs was not working. I’d only return seasonally as the best features were outdoors—pool areas, trail on river, and patio access.

The location was perfect. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The pool was really nice.

There was no shelf in the shower to put the products I had brought with me. The AC was quite loud and difficult to regulate the temperature on.

This was a good hotel for a quick overnight stay. It's clean, the rooms are modern (with good blackout curtains), the A/C worked well. It's pet friendly (there's a small enclosed dog area & dog waste stations) and convenient to go for a walk along the river. People seemed to be loving the infinity pool.

I stayed in a two queen bed room, maybe next time , we will try a suite or a bigger room. We did order take out for dinner one night and the next morning we dined in for breakfast.

I did not like that the bathroom was so small The second night we stayed in a different room and when we were unpacking our belongings a staff from the hotel walked in and apologized for barging in. Our dinner for take out : The Brisket was dry , no flavor , the mac and cheese was plain and the coleslaw did not taste good. It seemed like they added a splash of vinegar on their shredded cabbage. Was really disappointed. We still wanted to try breakfast and we got the Avocado Toast with Two eggs that was yummy, my husband got biscuits and gravy and that was very salty and it had a hair. We left extremely disappointed with their food. We decided not to say anything about the hair and cause a scene. We paid for our food and left.

Rochelle was an amazing Banquet Captain. The atmosphere and views were unmatched. Even with the fires their service did not lack. The room was the perfect size for our family and friends. What a beautiful event for my parent's 50th Anniversary Party! Andrew was a great salesperson as well. No haggling and the food prices were reasonable. Everyone at the event was impressed.

Our room was in the “100’s” so a little far from pool area..and parking lot is small so had to park far from hotel door, making packing stuff in a little inconvenient..but not a huge deal..

I loved there was a little River Walk with sculptures even I love that they had a restaurant right there that you could get food from the whole thing was very relaxing and beautiful especially the patio out by the river

For a resort the toilet paper was as bad as what you get at rest areas that needs to be changed also they say you can order online from the restaurant but it's turned off every time you go to try to order something

The smoke in the air outside was bad and then evacuation warnings it was to scary we left early.

I am not normally someone to leave a negative review. However, this was by far the worst communication and customer service so have ever experienced. Around October of last year I reached out to Ruby River about holding my rehearsal dinner and welcome party in their event spaces. (July 2026). I was told no problem, our date was open and we would have access to the entirety of the event space for 5 hours. We paid our deposit. Then, heard nothing. I requested a receipt for the deposit and then I was sent an email about planning a time to talk about what kind of event I wanted. But, I had already had that meeting, made the plans, and paid the deposit. I explained this (to the same person I originally met with btw) and they realized our event was already booked. I asked for a receipt and still was never sent one. Approximately 3-4 months before the event I reached out via phone and email to finalize the menu, and talk about final headcount and to ensure the event went the way we had discussed. I received no contact back. Then, May 13, I emailed and called again. I was notified by the sales manager at that time that the event planner at the hotel was no longer working there. On May 20 I met with the sales manager, Eric. We met in the event space, discussed set up, timeline, menus, due dates, headcount. Etc. he informed me that “he would not have booked our event in all honesty” and that they had booked an event near the same time as ours. Our rehearsal dinner was supposed to start at 5 pm-7pm (30 pole for dinner) then welcome event from 7 pm-9:30 for the rest of guests (just bar no food). He told me they could no longer do that and we would need to push our time back to 6 pm, and that dinner would be served at 6 pm instead of 5. So, I agreed. We pushed the rehearsal dinner to 6, and the welcome party back to 7:30. On June 16, my mother in law (her name and number were on credit card form for deposit) received a call from Andrew who just started working there. He asked to start planning our event. She informed him that I was point of contact and had already planned it. He then contacted me some asking about the details of the event. I explained I had met with Eric, who took notes and had all the info for our event. He didn’t realize this. He thought we were starting from scratch. So for the third time, I discussed the plans of the event. He was surprised about the timing, and was confused about what our event was. I explained the timeline numerous times, the menu, asked questions and emailed over info as well. He assured me that things would go according to plan. A few weeks before the wedding we spoke over the phone and finalized the menu. I asked for a coupled substitutes on sides, he assured me this would be no problem. I checked that dinner would be served at 6, he said yes. I called the day before the event and spoke with Andrew again and confirmed everything. I was once again assured. On the day of the rehearsal dinner we arrived shortly before 6 pm and the tables were not set up. The bar was not open (we paid to have two bars at the event) and the staff was scrambling and did not know the number of guests for the dinner, did not know we requested lawn games, the wall dividing the room was still up, and being taken down, and no food was in sight. We were not able to be served dinner (buffet) until 6:45 pm. The food was also incorrect. The sides were requested were incorrect as well. The video our parents put together which we were told could be played was not able to be played. We had barely enough time to eat, and the people for the welcome party started arriving at 7:30. Our speeches that were planned were also impacted because of this. The second bar was set up late. I wish I would have revived more transparency about the timeline instead of being told they could accommodate our event despite being double booked. I would have canceled and booked somewhere else. What was supposed to be an intimate and special night ended up being stressful, disappointing. And full of scrambling by the bride, groom, and family. We had to request more food because there was not enough sides, and items were missing. I will never book an event here again. The staff that was present at the event is in no way responsible for they apologized and were so upset that they were not given adequate info. The bar tenders and other staff hustled to try to get things done and set up the tables, chairs, games, music, etc and to bring food in as fast as they could. This was poor communication from management and the planning/coordination team. We should have been more aware of the circumstances and given the ability to cancel. We paid for 5 hours, and we received more like 3.5. We were only refunded a small portion of the cost.

Location of the hotel was close to basically everything we were there for.

I didn't like that our king bed had a queen sized comforter. The pool towels are extremely small, they barely covered our small teens let alone us. The hotel had some photo shoot going on while we were there. Instead of closing the pool or taking photos early in the morning, they decided to make everyone move around during the busiest part of the day which was highly annoying. They were taking photos of kids without parents permission. It was just a weird vibe.

ThenAC was not consistent and the room temp was warmer than we liked. Also, the plumbing is probably still the original and was very noisy, my wife and i both woke up a few times during the night because it it.

Lobby coffee is SO important for early risers. We appreciated that this room had a coffee machine that is understandable, but what gives about no lobby coffee? Even if it has to be instant, it would be nice to have that next to the water station down stairs.

The smoker business out front was unpleasant to walk through. You got enshrouded by smoke walking from the carpark. It seems a strange location for the business.

It is near impossible to talk to the front desk. Whether you're calling from inside the hotel or elsewhere. They put you on an immediate hold and forget about you. This happened to me five times now at different times of day.

I want to warn people about a really upsetting experience my friend and I had a couple weeks ago as guests at Ruby River Hotel. We are two grandmothers traveling together, and after midnight we were just in our room talking and laughing. Out of nowhere, a man started loudly and aggressively pounding on our door. I looked through the peephole, but I couldn't see what he was wearing, and he appeared to be looking down at his phone. To be honest, it scared the crap out of us. As two women alone so late at night, we had no idea if this man was an employee or what he was doing at our door so late. He continued to knock loudly in bursts and yelled out "security!", and I realized he wouldn't leave unless we opened the door. I opened the door with the security latch still on, he was not friendly in the least. He aggressively told us we were too loud and needed to keep it down. If we were being too loud, someone should have called our room instead. There was no reason to send a person to our room. Sending an unidentified man to aggressively bang on our door and intimidate us in the middle of the night is totally unacceptable and made us feel completely unsafe. Was this even an employee of theirs? Is this how they handle noise issues? What makes this situation even worse is the complete lack of professional accountability. I emailed both local property management and the corporate office twice regarding this and they have completely ignored my messages. They have not offered an apology, an acknowledgment, or a response or any kind. I highly recommend staying elsewhere if you value your peace of mind, personal security, and accountability.

Building six does not have appropriate handicapped accessibility but ADA rooms only have one bed and we needed two. Many ADA travelers travel with family and need someone nearby at all times. Please consider this in your ada room arrangements.

It’s conveniently located to downtown, yet not far from the airport. Although the highway noise can be disruptive when in the patio.

Nice pool, but too many people using it. Will Be nice when second pool is up and going. The a/c unit in the room was very loud, but too hot to sleep without it.

Camilla was so friendly & helpful, the pool was an oasis & it was an easy walk to the riverfront/downtown.

It is in an extremely convenient area is located by bike paths out the back door as a wonderful swimming pool and other facilities for children it is convenient to have the bar and everything else here The rooms are exceptionally clean The staff is friendly and helpful is in a secure area it's a great visit

There is minor construction off the back but the result is going to be a wonderful pool and a great addition this is already exceptional place

Dark rooms, dark hallways. Only one chair desk chair to sit on. No table or desk area in the room. BUT we asked for two more chairs (we had a part of three for two nights) and staff immediately brought two more, they were shower chairs, but that was better than nothing! We do NOT like to sit on the bed to put on shoes or eat a snack!
