Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Chosen for its location near Jesmond with a private car park. The front desk staff were polite and helpful. Starbucks in the foyer was a nice idea.
My room, 238, smelt awful - years of stale smoke and human beings. A spray air freshener could not even dent the smell. It made me feel sick all night. The window was screwed closed so there was no possibility of fresh air. The room was tired and basic and the cost too high for somewhere of such low quality.
Convenient location
Friendly staff at reception and bar.
People on my floor were loud and slamming doors in the early hours of the morning
Double mattress is not comfortable but this is not firm, I think mattress replacement new form mattress
Didn’t have breakfast
Its location
Cold as only the thin duvet and I think my price was more expensive than I'd have liked because The Northern Run was on.
Breakfast was lovely the staff were really helpful. Overall pretty perfect
One thing only, a larger mirror in the room above the desk so people can use a hair dryer with ease.
Very comfortable and clean room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast buffet 😃
Rather expensive, but it was the Great North Run weekend!
Good shower, comfortable bed, friendly extremely helpful staff, near metro station in safe area. Was there for Great North Run and hotel laid on extra water bottles, fruit etc. impressed.
Happy with everything
Close to city centre. Breakfast very good. Staff lovely. Good terrace for nice weather.
There’s no lounge area though could have sat in bar but it didn’t open till 5. There was a sitting area but used mostly by business folk.
Excellent breakfast, large comfortable bed, room spacious and no outside noise
Service client impeccable

Great location with car parking onsite
Rooms and corridors a little dark and dated
It was a quiet hotel, we slept really well. The room was very clean and comfortable. We used the bar and the Starbucks cafe, staff in both were very friendly
Clean, comfortable value for money, friendly staff, parking on site
There wasn't anything we didnt particularly dislike but the bar is a nice space but seems to be under utilised and lacks ambience it could be so much better, it also closes at 10.30-11 which seems early, maybe it was a particularly quiet weekend when we went but it seems to hear a great space that could add to the overall experience if marketed better
Everything
Loverly area
L'hôtel prend vraiment soin de ses clients
We had a twin room, plenty of room, lovely bathroom as well
na
Pleasant room, nice breakfast, good location
Sink was blocked, window a bit iffy to open
Nella norma, a 2 mn a piedi dalla fermata della Metro e a 20 mn a piedi dal centro.
Non abbiamo provato la colazione perché il prezzo mi sembrava eccessivo
All of the staff were friendly and helpful. A special mention to the reception staff on the front desk who went above and beyond to help and answer questions. The hotel location is great. Just a 15 minute walk into the city centre and 200 metres from the nearest Metro station.
There was nothing to dislike. We had been to this hotel before and knew what to expect.
Staff friendly
Booking.com says they do in-room breakfast but they dont, black mould in shower, shower too hot to use (had to use handheld bath shower instead)
Location, room size, pleasant common areas.
Mattress was well passed its replacement date, windowless alcove where the desk was had no lighting, no safe in the room
Seemed nice but despite a confirmed booking i had no room.
Location
Great location, clean, fabulous staff!

The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and large.
There was a very long queue to check in - about 20 minutes. Also, the hotel car parking is £11 per day, which is expensive considering that immediately across the road you can park for £4.50 for 24 hours.
The room was fine and the breakfast was very good. A very reasonable price for the night.
It would have been useful to pre-book a parking spot. The parking ticket machine was not easy to use.
Great check in. Friendly service, comfortable and nice breakfast.
Room 102 was difficult to find On one day I did not get replacement tea and coffee. When I rang to report it was corrected immediately
excellent stay will be back

Room was a good size and luckily not facing the busy road. Room had aircon.
The onsite parking is busy with tight spaces.
The fact it had a restaurant, coffee place and breakfast was good
Needs more parking and the room was very small, I had to move sideways to get past the bottom of the bed
I was attending the appreciation of Kevin Keegan at the game NUFC v Liverpool The facilities were fine, room, restauranrt, bes and breakfast Staff were helpful. Happy memories of the hotel, in 1964, my 21st birthday part,y then named, the Imperial & Embassy
Every aspect of the services was very good.
The Holiday Inn Newcastle Jesmond was probably one of the more balanced stays of my trip. It isn't a luxury hotel, and it doesn't try to be, but for the price it offers a comfortable and reasonably polished experience. Overall, I'd describe it as slightly above average for a budget-to-mid-range hotel and somewhere I would consider staying again. Location The location is one of the hotel's biggest strengths. It's very close to a Metro station, making it incredibly easy to get into Newcastle city centre quickly. For those who are able and prefer to walk, the city is also within reasonable walking distance. This gives the hotel a nice balance — you're close enough to the centre without necessarily having to pay city-centre hotel prices. Parking The hotel has its own car park, although it is on the smaller side. One thing I'd be mindful of is that the car park is accessible to non-residents, which creates the possibility of returning to the hotel and finding that there are no spaces available. This is something worth considering if you're travelling by car, particularly if you plan to leave during the day and return later in the evening. Reception and first impressions The reception area is decent and welcoming, although it certainly doesn't scream luxury. That's not necessarily a criticism given the price point, but expectations should be set accordingly. One thing that did let the hotel down during my arrival was the cleanliness of the reception seating area. There were tables with finished plates and used dishes left behind by previous guests. The reception wasn't particularly busy, and the guests who had been using the tables had already left, so there appeared to be plenty of opportunity for these to have been cleared away. It's a small detail, but it's the sort of thing that affects those important first impressions. The room The room itself was good. Again, it isn't luxurious, but for the price I thought it represented very good value. It was comfortable, functional and perfectly adequate for a stay in Newcastle. If you're expecting the sort of experience offered by a high-end hotel such as Dakota, this obviously isn't it. But that's not what Holiday Inn Jesmond is trying to provide. For someone looking for somewhere clean, comfortable and reasonably priced, it does the job well. Staff The staff were pleasant, helpful and welcoming throughout my stay. There weren't any major issues requiring assistance, but whenever I interacted with the team, I found them friendly and professional. Overall Holiday Inn Jesmond isn't going to compete with Newcastle's luxury hotels, but it doesn't need to. Its strengths are location, convenience, reasonable pricing and comfortable rooms. The smaller shared car park is something to be aware of, and the untidy tables in reception could certainly have been dealt with more promptly. That said, these are relatively minor criticisms, particularly when you consider the price point. After staying at a range of hotels during my trip, I'd put this one firmly in the above-average budget/mid-range category. Would I stay again? Yes. If I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel with good Metro access and didn't need luxury, Holiday Inn Jesmond would definitely be on my list.
Staff, location, cleanliness, and exceptional food
The room’s door threshold bar missing, mild inconvenience in otherwise excellent room
Good room and breakfast
Noisy drumming noise at night
Good location.
Bed was uncomfortable and the mattress all sagged in the middle. Pillows were lumpy and old.
The metro service was great only round the corner only £4 50 A day. And you could travel anywhere, definitely recommend👌
The traffic was very busy every day. Don't know how people drive. But I guess it is a big city?
Very large rooms, great public areas, helpful friendly staff, very clean
Clean with large room. Very close to the metro. Staff very friendly and helpful
Shower over the bath

Spacious & comfy bed
One night stay would stay again
Personnel were helpful
View from the room and the noise of a family in next door room - kept me awake on both nights and hotel staff had to ask them to be quiet- after 11pm- but they didn’t respect that.
Sehr nettes Personal, tolles Frühstück!
Motorrad wurde leider direkt vor dem Hotel auf dem Hotelparkplatz gestohlen….
Very good Hotel in great location.
Great location and friendly and helpful staff
The room had a musty smell, a tiny window and a noise )that sounded like a large steam iron) which went off every 5-10 minutes keeping me awake through the night. I called reception at 3am who kindly bought me earplugs but it did not help. Avoid room 212
A great nights sleep
Clean, good location, pleasant staff
Car parking ws a problem in the evenings. Very full car park with tight spaces
Good location for what we required of our stay. Could easily walk into centre of Newcastle from here. Staff in hotel were professional, polite , engaging and ready to deal with any issues as well as wish you a good day. Rooms were comfortable and clean although ours did have an issue which meant we had to move (see below). Sound proofing between rooms is fine for any normal stay … young kids and loud TVs at 10pm/late next door … not great for this. Hotel breakfast was good with a good choice of continental and cooked items with the chef on call for any specials such as poached eggs. On-site parking has 5/6 ProjectEV 7kw chargers and one projectEV rapid charger (although could not get this to work) for EV charging and a decedent number of parking spots (if a little small for today’s large cars). Special mention to James the duty manager and the team in the breakfast room who provided excellent customer service during our stay.
Inconsiderate guest next door with young children shouting and jumping and loud TV beyond 10pm meant we requested a move for the first night which the team dealt with promptly. We requested a further room move after one night as our room (238) had an issue with the window and the traffic noise through the night was disturbing. Duty manager James was very accommodating and moved us to another part of the hotel to a room without issue.
Location central to Newcastle uni and jesmond
Paying for parking
Wonderful helpful man on reception at check in. Extremely helpful.
Comfortable quiet room
The water was very hot.
Location, staff and parking

Staff's attitude - awesome!

Alright
Room
It’s a great location for us to see our daughter. Prices are reasonable. It’s always clean. Staff are great.
It’s beginning to look quite tired. The room we had this time was looking a bit tatty - mould in the bathroom and wallpaper peeling in the bedroom.
On site parking is helpful and secure and being able to charge the car was good. Having to pay to park the car overnight (£11) felt a bit steep? Location close to Jesmond was helpful.
Room was a little tired and very warm despite being able to open the window. Both my daughter and I didn't sleep very well. We didn't spend very much time at the hotel - it was just a stop over and we didn't have breakfast.
Good location friendly staff will definitely go back have also recommended to family and friends
Couldn’t find anything to not like about the property
The car park was close to the hotel and I was able to get a space both times that I arrived with the car, even with a roof box on the car. At check-in my room number was written on the rooming card and was NOT spoken aloud — Excellent. The receptionist advised me that they were not allowed to say the room number — Excellent. The condition of room 123 overall was fair. Room 123 bed was OK. Room 123 pillow was OK. In room 123, the handwash that was provided was OK. The toilet was clean, flushed OK and in general was OK. In Room 123 the hand towel that was in the bathroom was Fair. Room 123 the bath towel that was in the wardrobe was Fair. Breakfast was OK. The work desk was OK, and at a reasonable height. All the lights worked. Breakfast was OK, including all usual buffet breakfast items including bread, toast, pastries, cereal, milk, water, cold meat and cheese, cooked breakfast items bacon, egg mushroom, baked beans, tea and coffee.
The spaces in the car park were small and difficult to park in. It was only by fortuitous luck that I was able to park the car (with roof box) in spaces that would accommodate the height with the roof box, whilst still allowing the driver's door to be opened with enough room to exit and later re-enter. Room 123: the shower valve was incredibly stiff to operate. I think probably half of people would either not be able to operate it, or would struggle. Room 123: the handwash dispensing in the ensuite was poorly designed, being made out of a thin metal sheet, whenever the squirty nozzle was pressed on the top of the bottle, the platform on which the bottle sat sagged down, making the nozzle action unsatisfactory. Room 123: The bath towel that was in the bathroom was clammy verging on sticky and the towel fabric seemed very worn; to my eye it seemed well below the acceptable standard, and should have been retired from guest usage. Fortunately there was another bath towel in the wardrobe that was at least fair. Room 123 the extractor fan in the bathroom was somewhat rattly. There was no obvious toilet brush, meaning that it was difficult to keep the toilet bowl clean. At breakfast, there was no obvious orange juice — a hotel providing a buffet breakfast should provide orange juice — this is obvious — it may have been provided on request, but I shouldn't have to ask. Paying for parking on-line would have attracted an arbitrary "made up" surcharge of 40 pence, whereas paying for parking at the machine inside the hotel would not. I paid for parking inside the hotel, but was not offered a paper receipt but rather only choice of SMS text or email. I chose email, entered my email address but did not receive any receipt by email. I submitted a support request to the parking people, but the form required (for no good reason) a booking number, which I had at no point been provided with. Fortunately I was able to get this number eventually.
It’s near to the Freeman Hospital The chef is amazing everything was delicious
Could have been a tad clearer in the bathroom. Room number 243 the bathroom door could do with a lick of paint or just a good wash.
Friendly, enthusiastic staff, eager to her and make you feel welcome
Parking is extra (despite paying loads for the room) and a light wasn't working in the bathroom
Easy to find/access with a car. Convenient car adjacent car park, unfoirtunately there was an extra charge for.
There were some cob webs in the corners of the rooms and peeling wall paper
We likedthe room and the breakfast was great. Football was on and England won surprising there was nnot more people in the Sports Bar
Nothing
I booked it last minute and to be honest, for four days in Newcastle it was perfect! It’s near a metro which made it easy to access the city centre, the staff were super friendly and lovely. I genuinely don’t have anything negative to say.
Good location Very helpful staff Great facilities Very clean
Would have liked breakfast included in price
The staff were first class. Approachable and helpful.
Water wouldn’t drain from the bath after a shower. Bed a little too narrow for two people.
Convenient, clean, polite staff
The TV kept freezing.
location
room was dreadful. Carpets worn with holes, toilet was filthy and damaged all over. the room fridge flashed all night and kept us awake
Location was great for us we were at a concert in Exhabition Park - 20 min walk max Very comfy bed
Nothing to dislike
Great breakfast and value for money
Good location
Good location and staff were friendly especially at breakfast.
Bed was very uncomfortable didn’t sleep very much for 2 nights. Very thin mattress poor quality. Also says hotel has parking but doesn’t say it’s extra cost until after you book it!
Large rooms good location comfortable Stay.
Bed slightly hard
It was near the festival and good car parking. The reception staff are really good.
The hotel is much more run down compared to when I stayed last year. My room wasn’t very clean despite me waiting to finally get in and had a horrible odour like cigarettes and mould. My friends room didn’t have air conditioning at all working despite several phone calls to reception.
Check-in staff were great. Lobby is looking swish.
Shower drained slowly and the bathroom smelled strongly of drain. One of the wall sockets by the desk was damaged. And, very importantly, HI used to have water and a KitKat in the mini-fridge but now the fridge isn't even turned on. Sad times.
Reception night staff were a disgraceful and ignorant
Location
First room allocated was not clean, mould in bathroom. and a hole in the actual bath
It was clean and had everything we needed
Nothing to dislike
Great location, friendly staff. Love all the little attention to detail, particularly the messages on the mirrors
Genuinely pleasant Bar food was good Big room Great bed Good shower Good location
Decor in the room a bit dated
Hotel is great, large and really clean. Parking was initially confusing but compared to sinilar hotels it was ok £11 per 24 hours. Location was great, close to the metro and university and a convenient walk to town. Breakfast was a good range of fresh options includong cooked breakfast. Staff were polite and friendly. Would recommend staying here.
Location perfect for me.
Air con was very temperamental.
Room was comfortable with bath. It was great to have a later check out after running a race, so didnt have to move bags to car first thing.
Music at a wedding event was quite loud, but stopped at midnight, would have preferred quiet from 11.00
Close to the Metro for access to the city. Large, comfortable bed. Kettle in room with tea and coffee. Decent shower though over the bath.
Beside light didn’t work. Dark room. Was supposed to be a quiet room but base music from a private function could be heard two floors up.
Lovely staff. Really good location near a metro stop and a short walk from Jesmond Dean. Good facilities with TV that was able to cast to.
No view from the room. No biscuits on the tea and coffee tray
Amazing staff great party lovely stay had the best breakfast next morning xx
Had husbands 60th here last night..lovely helpful staff..ewan..Dylan.. Adam +nadine..very polite..outstanding
Had a great stay and the jesmond did a great job at keeping everything organised and great service at the bar. Special mention to adam, dillon and nadine. Thanks guys!
